Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study analyzed the impact of sex on self-reported health and lifestyle parameters in peripheral artery disease patients at two periods of the COVID-19 pandemic. METHODS In this longitudinal study, 99 patients with peripheral artery disease (53 men and 46 women) were evaluated during two periods of the COVID-19 pandemic ( i.e ., at onset: May to August 2020, and on follow-up: May to August 2021). Patients were interviewed via telephone, and information regarding lifestyle and health parameters was obtained. RESULTS At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, health and habit parameters were similar between women and men, with 63.0% and 45.3% indicating frequent fatigue, 73.9% and 84.9% reporting increased sitting time, and 23.9% and 39.6% practicing physical activity, respectively. At follow-up, difficulties in physical mobility (women: from 26.1% to 73.9%, p<0.001; men: from 39.6% to 71.7%, p=0.001) and the frequency of hospitalization for reasons other than COVID-19 increased similarly in women and men (women: from 4.3% to 21.7%, p=0.013; men: from 9.4% to 24.5%, p=0.038). The other parameters were similar between the periods. CONCLUSION Self-reported physical mobility difficulties and hospitalization frequency increased in women and men with peripheral artery disease. BACKGROUND ▪ Sitting time increased in 73.9% of women and 84.9% of men at the onset of the pandemic. Abstract
Introduction Exposure to respiratory viruses is a significant cause of morbidity and affects virus-specific antibody levels. Little is known about determinants associated with immune response to these viruses. We aimed to investigate the determinants of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)- and rhinovirus (RV)- specific IgG responses in both children and adults. Methods The study is based on the EGEA cohort, composed of 530 samples of children in EGEA1 (1991-95) and 1241 samples of adults in EGEA2 (2003-07). Cumulative RV-specific IgG levels (species A, B and C) and IgG levels to RSV-G protein were measured by using micro-array technoloy. Multiple linear mixed models (random effect to account for familial dependence) were performed to assess associations between age, sex, body mass index (BMI), tobacco smoke exposure and season of blood sampling with RSV-and RV-specific IgG levels. Results In children (11.1 ± 2.8 years old, 57% boys), higher RV-specific IgG levels were associated with older age (only for RV-B), female sex and lower BMI, while only older age was associated with higher RSV-specific IgG levels. In adults (43.5 ± 16.7 years old, 48% men), younger age, female sex, lower BMI, active smoking and all seasons except summer were associated with higher RV-specific IgG levels. Older age, active smoking and all seasons except summer were associated with higher RSV-specific IgG levels. Conclusion Personal and seasonal determinants of RSV- and RV-specific IgG levels seem to vary according to the respiratory virus type and between children and adults, suggesting different patterns of responses along the life course.

Abstract
The adsorption mechanism of S-Metolachlor in an aqueous solution by sawdust biochar derived from Acacia auriculiformis (SAB) was studied. SAB was manufactured at 500 °C for 4 h under oxygen-limited conditions and characterized for SEM, EDS, pHpzc, BET, and FTIR. The adsorption kinetics, isotherm, and diffusion studies of S-Metolachlor and SAB were further explored. Moreover, the effects of the solution pH were examined on the adsorption of S-Metolachlor by SAB. The BET analysis of SAB was achieved at 106.74 m2.g-1 and the solution pH did not significantly influence the S-Metolachlor adsorption. The adsorption data were fitted into a Langmuir isotherm and the PSO model. The film diffusion coefficient Df (4.93 × 10-11 to 8.17 × 10-11 m2.s-1) and the particle diffusion coefficient Dp (1.68 × 10-11 to 2.65 × 10-11 m2.s-1) were determined and the rate-limiting step of S-Metolachlor adsorption and SAB was governed by liquid film diffusion. The S-Metolachlor adsorption process onto SAB was controlled by multiple mechanisms, including pore filling, H-bonding, hydrophobic interaction, and π-π EDA interactions. H-bonding is the main interaction for the adsorption of S-Metolachlor and SAB. Conclusively, the study illustrates that biochar produced from Acacia auriculiformis sawdust possessed effective adsorption properties for S-Metolachlor herbicide.

Abstract
Introduction People living with HIV (PLWH) now benefit from combined antiviral treatments that durably control viral replication. These antiretroviral treatments decrease mortality and improve quality of life in PLWH, but do not completely control the excessive non-specific activation of the immune system in PLWH. This chronic immune activation is a key element of HIV immunopathology that contributes to the pathophysiology of inflammatory comorbid conditions, such as cardiovascular disorders, cancer and autoimmune diseases. Circulating non-exosomal extracellular vesicles, also known as microparticles (MPs) are detected in these diseases and have been linked to immune activation. The objective of this study was to characterize the MPs present in PLWH and to assess their association with chronic immune activation. Methods We performed flow cytometry for the complete phenotypic characterization of MPs from fresh plasma from PLWH and from people without HIV as the control group. The absolute number, size and cellular origin of MPs were evaluated. The immunoregulatory profile was determined by cell origin, for MPs derived from platelets (PMPs), monocytes (MMPs) and T lymphocytes (LMPs). Results PLWH had significantly more circulating MPs than controls, for MPs of all sizes originating from T lymphocytes, red blood cells, neutrophils, dendritic cells, B lymphocytes and endothelial cells. PMPs and MMPs were not more numerous in PLWH, but the immunoregulatory phenotypes of these MPs differed between PLWH and controls. These differences in immunoregulatory molecule expression profile were also observed for LMPs. PDL1, ICOSL, CCR5, TGFβ1, MHC classes I and II, TRAIL, CXCR4, OX40, DC-SIGN, CTLA4 and PDL2 were more strongly expressed on the surface of MPs from PLWH than on those from controls. Conclusion MPs are an important element in intercellular communication, making it possible to transfer phenotypes and functions to immune cells. The significantly higher numbers of MPs expressing diverse immunomodulatory molecules in PLWH may make a major contribution to the maintenance and/or the development of immune-cell activation in these individuals.

Abstract
Cancer cells often exhibit DNA copy number aberrations and can vary widely in their ploidy. Correct estimation of the ploidy of single-cell genomes is paramount for downstream analysis. Based only on single-cell DNA sequencing information, scAbsolute achieves accurate and unbiased measurement of single-cell ploidy and replication status, including whole-genome duplications. We demonstrate scAbsolute's capabilities using experimental cell multiplets, a FUCCI cell cycle expression system, and a benchmark against state-of-the-art methods. scAbsolute provides a robust foundation for single-cell DNA sequencing analysis across different technologies and has the potential to enable improvements in a number of downstream analyses.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The sexual and reproductive health of cisgender women with HIV is essential for overall health and well-being. Nationally representative estimates of sexual and reproductive health outcomes among women with HIV were assessed in this study. METHODS Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Medical Monitoring Project-including data on sexual and reproductive health-were collected during June 2018-May 2021 through interviews and medical record abstraction among women with HIV and analyzed in 2023. Among women with HIV aged 18-44 years (n=855), weighted percentages were reported, and absolute differences were assessed between groups, highlighting differences ≥|5%| with CIs that did not cross the null. RESULTS Overall, 86.4% of women with HIV reported receiving a cervical Pap smear in the past 3 years; 38.5% of sexually active women with HIV had documented gonorrhea, chlamydia, and syphilis testing in the past year; 88.9% of women with HIV who had vaginal sex used ≥1 form of contraception in the past year; and 53.4% had ≥1 pregnancy since their HIV diagnosis-of whom 81.5% had ≥1 unintended pregnancy, 24.6% had ≥1 miscarriage or stillbirth, and 9.8% had ≥1 induced abortion. Some sexual and reproductive health outcomes were worse among women with certain social determinants of health, including women with HIV living in households <100% of the federal poverty level compared with women with HIV in households ≥139% of the federal poverty level. CONCLUSIONS Many women with HIV did not receive important sexual and reproductive health services, and many experienced unintended pregnancies, miscarriages/stillbirths, or induced abortions. Disparities in some sexual and reproductive health outcomes were observed by certain social determinants of health. Improving sexual and reproductive health outcomes and reducing disparities among women with HIV could be addressed through a multipronged approach that includes expansion of safety net programs that provide sexual and reproductive health service coverage.

Abstract
This paper describes conservation laws in general relativity (GR) dating back to the mass-energy conservation of Bondi and Sachs in the early 1960s but using 2-spinor techniques. The notion of conformal infinity is employed, and the highly original ideas of E. T. Newman are discussed in relation to twistor theory. The controversial NP constants are introduced, and their meaning is considered in a new light related to the problem of equations of motion in GR. Abstract
This article provides a discussion on the construction of conformal Gaussian gauge systems to study the evolution of solutions to the Einstein field equations with positive Cosmological constant. This is done by means of a gauge based on the properties of conformal geodesics. The use of this gauge, combined with the extended conformal Einstein field equations, yields evolution equations in the form of a symmetric hyperbolic system for which standard Cauchy stability results can be employed. This strategy is used to study the global properties of de Sitter-like spacetimes with constant negative scalar curvature. It is then adapted to study the evolution of the Schwarzschild-de Sitter spacetime in the static region near the conformal boundary. This review is based on Minucci et al. 2021 Class. Abstract
MOTIVATION Drug-target interaction (DTI) prediction aims to identify interactions between drugs and protein targets. Deep learning can automatically learn discriminative features from drug and protein target representations for DTI prediction, but challenges remain, making it an open question. Existing approaches encode drugs and targets into features using deep learning models, but they often lack explanations for underlying interactions. Moreover, limited labeled DTIs in the chemical space can hinder model generalization. RESULTS We propose an interpretable nested graph neural network for DTI prediction (iNGNN-DTI) using pre-trained molecule and protein models. The analysis is conducted on graph data representing drugs and targets by using a specific type of nested graph neural network, in which the target graphs are created based on 3D structures using Alphafold2. This architecture is highly expressive in capturing substructures of the graph data. We use a cross-attention module to capture interaction information between the substructures of drugs and targets. To improve feature representations, we integrate features learned by models that are pre-trained on large unlabeled small molecule and protein datasets, respectively. We evaluate our model on three benchmark datasets, and it shows a consistent improvement on all baseline models in all datasets. We also run an experiment with previously unseen drugs or targets in the test set, and our model outperforms all of the baselines. Furthermore, the iNGNN-DTI can provide more insights into the interaction by visualizing the weights learned by the cross-attention module. Abstract
Replication stress describes various types of endogenous and exogenous challenges to DNA replication in S-phase. Stress during this critical process results in helicase-polymerase decoupling at replication forks, triggering the S-phase checkpoint, which orchestrates global replication fork stalling and delayed entry into G2. The replication stressor most often used to induce the checkpoint response is hydroxyurea (HU), a chemotherapeutic agent. The primary mechanism of S-phase checkpoint activation by HU has thus far been considered to be a reduction of dNTP synthesis by inhibition of ribonucleotide reductase (RNR), leading to helicase-polymerase decoupling and subsequent activation of the checkpoint, mediated by the replisome associated effector kinase Mrc1. In contrast, we observe that HU causes cell cycle arrest in budding yeast independent of both the Mrc1-mediated replication checkpoint response and the Psk1-Mrc1 oxidative signaling pathway. We demonstrate a direct relationship between HU incubation and reactive oxygen species (ROS) production in yeast nuclei. We further observe that ROS strongly inhibits the in vitro polymerase activity of replicative polymerases (Pols), Pol α, Pol δ, and Pol ε, causing polymerase complex dissociation and subsequent loss of DNA substrate binding, likely through oxidation of their integral iron sulfur Fe-S clusters. Finally, we present "RNR-deg," a genetically engineered alternative to HU in yeast with greatly increased specificity of RNR inhibition, allowing researchers to achieve fast, nontoxic, and more readily reversible checkpoint activation compared to HU, avoiding harmful ROS generation and associated downstream cellular effects that may confound interpretation of results.

Abstract
α-synuclein (αSyn) is a presynaptic and nuclear protein that aggregates in important neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's Disease (PD), Parkinson's Disease Dementia (PDD) and Lewy Body Dementia (LBD). Our past work suggests that nuclear αSyn may regulate forms of DNA double-strand break (DSB) repair in HAP1 cells after DNA damage induction with the chemotherapeutic agent bleomycin1. Here, we report that genetic deletion of αSyn specifically impairs the non-homologous end-joining (NHEJ) pathway of DSB repair using an extrachromosomal plasmid-based repair assay in HAP1 cells. Importantly, induction of a single DSB at a precise genomic location using a CRISPR/Cas9 lentiviral approach also showed the importance of αSyn in regulating NHEJ in HAP1 cells and primary mouse cortical neuron cultures. This modulation of DSB repair is dependent on the activity of the DNA damage response signaling kinase DNA-PKcs, since the effect of αSyn loss-of-function is reversed by DNA-PKcs inhibition. Using in vivo multiphoton imaging in mouse cortex after induction of αSyn pathology, we find an increase in longitudinal cell survival of inclusion-bearing neurons after Polo-like kinase (PLK) inhibition, which is associated with an increase in the amount of aggregated αSyn within inclusions. Together, these findings suggest that αSyn plays an important physiologic role in regulating DSB repair in both a transformed cell line and in primary cortical neurons. Loss of this nuclear function may contribute to the neuronal genomic instability detected in PD, PDD and DLB and points to DNA-PKcs and PLK as potential therapeutic targets.

Abstract
A new species of Moniliformis, M. tupaia n. sp. is described using integrated morphological methods (light and scanning electron microscopy) and molecular techniques (sequencing and analysing the nuclear 18S, ITS, 28S regions and mitochondrial cox1 and cox2 genes), based on specimens collected from the intestine of the northern tree shrew Tupaia belangeri chinensis Anderson (Scandentia: Tupaiidae) in China. Phylogenetic analyses show that M. tupaia n. sp. is a sister to M. moniliformis in the genus Moniliformis, and also challenge the systematic status of Nephridiacanthus major. Moniliformis tupaia n. sp. represents the third Moniliformis species reported from China.

Abstract
Most of the previous studies on the genetic variability in Spanish "Berrenda" breeds have been carried out using DNA microsatellites. The present work aimed to estimate the genetic diversity, population structure, and potential genetic differences among individuals of both Berrenda breeds and groups based on the presence of the Robertsonian chromosomal translocation, rob (1;29). A total of 373 samples from animals belonging to the two breeds, including 169 cases diagnosed as rob (1;29)-positive, were genotyped using an SNP50K chip. The genetic diversity at the breed level did not show significant differences, but it was significantly lower in those subpopulations containing the rob (1;29). Runs of homozygosity identified a region of homozygosity on chromosome 6, where the KIT (KIT proto-oncogene, receptor tyrosine kinase) gene, which determines the typical spotted coat pattern in both breeds, is located. The four subpopulations considered showed minor genetic differences. The regions of the genome that most determined the differences between the breeds were observed on chromosomes 4, 6, 18, and 22. The presence of this Robertsonian translocation did not result in sub-structuring within each of the breeds considered. To improve the reproductive performance of Berrenda breeds, it would be necessary to implement strategies considering the involvement of potential breeding stock carrying rob (1;29).

Abstract
Thiabendazole (TBZ) is a benzimidazole; owing to its potent antimicrobial properties, TBZ is extensively employed in agriculture as a fungicide and pesticide. However, TBZ poses environmental risks, and excessive exposure to TBZ through various leakage pathways can cause adverse effects in humans. Therefore, a method must be developed for early and sensitive detection of TBZ over a range of concentrations, considering both human and environmental perspectives. In this study, we used silver nanopillar structures (SNPis) and Au@Ag bimetallic nanoparticles (BNPs) to fabricate a BNP@SNPi substrate. This substrate exhibited a broad reaction surface with significantly enhanced surface-enhanced Raman scattering hotspots, demonstrating excellent Raman performance, along with high reproducibility, sensitivity, and selectivity for TBZ detection. Ultimately, the BNP@SNPi substrate successfully detected TBZ across a wide concentration range in samples of tap water, drinking water, juice, and human serum, with respective limits of detection of 146.5, 245.5, 195.6, and 219.4 pM. This study highlights BNP@SNPi as a promising sensor platform for TBZ detection in diverse environments and contributes to environmental monitoring and bioanalytical studies.

Abstract
Two types of low-cost reagentless electrochemical glucose biosensors based on graphite rod (GR) electrodes were developed. The electrodes modified with electrochemically synthesized platinum nanostructures (PtNS), 1,10-phenanthroline-5,6-dione (PD), glucose oxidase (GOx) without and with a polypyrrole (Ppy) layer-(i) GR/PtNS/PD/GOx and (ii) GR/PtNS/PD/GOx/Ppy, respectively, were prepared and tested. Glucose biosensors based on GR/PtNS/PD/GOx and GR/PtNS/PD/GOx/Ppy electrodes were characterized by the sensitivity of 10.1 and 5.31 μA/(mM cm2), linear range (LR) up to 16.5 and 39.0 mM, limit of detection (LOD) of 0.198 and 0.561 mM, good reproducibility, and storage stability. The developed glucose biosensors based on GR/PtNS/PD/GOx/Ppy electrodes showed exceptional resistance to interfering compounds and proved to be highly efficient for the determination of glucose levels in blood serum.

Abstract
This paper provides data regarding the ratios of the functional structures of lymph nodes after inflammation in the abdominal organs. Lymph systems, including lymph nodes, function as filters of tissues and tissue fluids and are places of origin and lymphocyte production for normal physiological functions. They display specific morphological and functional responses in reaction to endogenous and exogenous substances. The morphological pattern of the mesenteric lymph node in experimental rat groups reflects a decrease in its immune function due to the processes of inflammation in the abdominal cavity. These processes work together with the associated organs and their involvement in the abdominal lymph nodes, in which there are discharges of the structure of the paracortical zone under conditions of reduced lymphogenic processes, according to the decrease in the size of the paracortex and the ratios of lymphoid nodes with and without germinal centers. Histological and morphometric analyses show changes in the mesenteric lymph node. These analyses are characterized by changes in the cortical and medullary substances, while the proportion of the cortical structure decreases. We also noted an increase in the number of macrophages in the lymphoid nodes and cerebral sinus, as well as a decrease in the number of mature plasmocytes, the paracortex, and the pulp strands. These changes indicate immunosuppressive effects on the lymph node. Under the conditions of inflammation, the formation of a mixed immune response occurs.

Abstract
MOTIVATION Human epigenomic data has been generated by large consortia for thousands of cell types to be used as a reference map of normal and disease chromatin states. Since epigenetic data contains potentially identifiable information, similarly to genetic data, most raw files generated by these consortia are stored in controlled-access databases. It is important to protect identifiable information, but this should not hinder secure sharing of these valuable datasets. RESULTS Guided by the Framework for responsible sharing of genomic and health-related data from the Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH), we have developed an approach and a tool to facilitate the exploration of epigenomics datasets' aggregate results, while filtering out identifiable information. Specifically, the EpiVar Browser allows a user to navigate an epigenetic dataset from a cohort of individuals and enables direct exploration of genotype-chromatin phenotype relationships. Because individual genotypes and epigenetic signal tracks are not directly accessible, and rather aggregated in the portal output, no identifiable data is released, yet the interface allows for dynamic genotype-epigenome interrogation. This approach has the potential to accelerate analyses that would otherwise require a lengthy multi-step approval process and provides a generalizable strategy to facilitate responsible access to sensitive epigenomics data. Abstract
Importance Enabling widespread interoperability-the ability of health information technology systems to exchange information and to use that information without special effort-is a primary focus of public policy on health information technology. More information on clinicians' experience using that technology can serve as one measure of the impact of that policy. Objective To assess primary care physician perspectives on the state of interoperability. Design, Setting, and Participants A cross-sectional survey of family medicine physicians in the US was conducted from December 12, 2021, to October 12, 2022. A sample of family medicine physicians who completed the Continuous Certification Questionnaire (CCQ), a required part of the American Board of Family Medicine certification process, which has a 100% response rate, were invited to participate. Main Outcomes and Measures Eighteen items on the CCQ assessed experience accessing and using various information from outside organizations, including medications, immunizations, and allergies. Results A total of 2088 physicians (1053 women [50%]; age reported categorically as either ≥50 years or <50 years) completed the CCQ interoperability questions in 2022. Of these respondents, 35% practiced in hospital or health system-owned practices, while 27% practiced in independently owned practices. Eleven percent were very satisfied with their ability to electronically access all 10 types of information from outside organizations included on the questionnaire, and a mean of 70% were at least somewhat satisfied. A total of 23% of family medicine physicians reported information from outside organizations was very easy to use, and an additional 65% reported that information was somewhat easy to use. Only 8% reported that information from different electronic health record (EHR) developers' products was very easy to use compared with 38% who reported information from the same EHR developer's product was very easy to use. Conclusions and Relevance This survey study of family medicine physicians found modest and uneven improvement in physicians' experience with interoperability. These findings suggest that substantial heterogeneity in satisfaction by information type, source of information, EHR, practice type, ownership, and patient population necessitates diverse policy and strategies to improve interoperability.

Abstract
Modern toothpastes are complex formulations with various ingredients. The aim of this study was to analyze the improvement of toothpaste formulations from 1900 to 2023 focusing on active ingredients with remineralizing, antibacterial, or plaque-removing effects, and to discuss their influence on caries prevention. For this, worldwide patent applications were searched using the international database Espacenet from the European Patent Office. Additionally, toothpaste products were searched using the Mintel product database from 1996 to 2023. The searched ingredients were (in alphabetical order): calcium carbonate, calcium phosphates, hydrated silica, sodium fluoride, sodium lauryl sulfate, triclosan, xylitol, and zinc salts as they are known from the scientific literature to be remineralizing or antibacterial/antiplaque agents. It was shown that the number of patent applications containing these ingredients significantly increased since the 1970s. As these ingredients have remineralizing, antibacterial, or plaque-removing effects, they all can contribute to caries prevention. In conclusion, and within the limitations of this approach, this study shows that toothpaste formulations have greatly improved over the past decades by using various active anticaries ingredients.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The Hippo pathway and its transcriptional effectors yes-associated protein (YAP) and transcriptional coactivator with PDZ-binding motif (TAZ) are targets for cancer therapy. It is important to determine if the activation of one factor compensates for the inhibition of the other. Moreover, it is unknown if YAP/TAZ-directed perturbation affects cell-cell communication of non-malignant liver cells. MATERIALS AND METHODS To investigate liver-specific phenotypes caused by YAP and TAZ inactivation, we generated mice with hepatocyte (HC) and biliary epithelial cell (BEC)-specific deletions for both factors (YAPKO, TAZKO and double knock-out (DKO)). Immunohistochemistry, single-cell sequencing, and proteomics were used to analyze liver tissues and serum. RESULTS The loss of BECs, liver fibrosis, and necrosis characterized livers from YAPKO and DKO mice. This phenotype was weakened in DKO tissues compared to specimens from YAPKO animals. After depletion of YAP in HCs and BECs, YAP expression was induced in non-parenchymal cells (NPCs) in a cholestasis-independent manner. YAP positivity was detected in subgroups of Kupffer cells (KCs) and endothelial cells (ECs). The secretion of pro-inflammatory chemokines and cytokines such as C-X-C motif chemokine ligand 11 (CXCL11), fms-related receptor tyrosine kinase 3 ligand (FLT3L), and soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM1) was increased in the serum of YAPKO animals. YAP activation in NPCs could contribute to inflammation via TEA domain transcription factor (TEAD)-dependent transcriptional regulation of secreted factors. CONCLUSION YAP inactivation in HCs and BECs causes liver damage, and concomitant TAZ deletion does not enhance but reduces this phenotype. Additionally, we present a new mechanism by which YAP contributes to cell-cell communication originating from NPCs.

Abstract
Introduction Men who assault their partners present deficits in the social skills necessary for adequate interpersonal interaction. Not all of them have the same difficulties, thus they do not constitute a homogeneous group. Various studies have proposed different typologies of abusers based on their sociodemographic characteristics, criminal history, intensity and extent of violent or psychopathological traits. The majority of these investigations have been conducted in community samples, prompting the question of their validity in samples of men convicted of gender violence. The aim of this study was to establish a typology of men convicted in Spain for a gender violences crimes. Methodology A total of 365 men participated and were subdivided into three classes of abusers based on their childhood, family experiences with violence, criminal history, sexist attitudes and attitudes toward violence, intensity and type of violence, psychopathological state and attachment style. Results Coinciding with the results found in other research, 30% of the participants were classified as generally violent. They engaged in severe forms of physical, psychological and sexual violence and were more likely to do so than the rest. Additionally, they are more likely to present psychopathological problems and an antisocial character. Twenty-one percent were classified as dysphoric/borderline. They are characterized by minor forms of psychological violence, borderline or depressive symptomatology and an anxious attachment style. The remaining 49% were classified as familial or normalized abusers. This group exhibits moderate attitudes toward violence and sexism, resulting in less psychological and physical aggression. They do not present psychopathological problems and are likely to present a secure attachment style. Discussion It is argued that determining the psychological characteristics of each type of abuser would contribute to improving and adapting intervention protocols in Spain, leading to a significant improvement in the current issue of abuse.

Abstract
Lethal giant larvae 1 (LGL1) is originally recognized as a tumor suppressor, implicated in maintaining cell polarity in Drosophila and mammalian cells. Cell polarity plays a crucial role in tumorigenesis. We previously established Pax2-LGL1-/- conditional knockout mice but did not focus on the tumorigenesis in cerebellar primordium. HE staining was used to detect the morphological structure of the cerebellar primordium during early embryonic development in Pax2-LGL1-/- mice. Immunofluorescence assays were used to detect the expression of polar molecules. TUNEL staining assessed tissue apoptosis. Our findings reveal that deletion of LGL1 leads to the emergence of neuroblastoma-like tissues within the cerebellum primordium during early embryogenesis. This outcome can be attributed to alterations in expression patterns of polar molecules Cdc42 and β-catenin following early deletion of LGL1, resulting in loss of cell polarity among neuroepithelial cells and subsequent formation of tumor-like tissues. However, further histological examination demonstrated that these tumor-like tissues disappear from embryonic day 15.5 onwards within the cerebellar primordium of Pax2-LGL1-/- mice due to apoptosis-mediated cellular compensation. Our data emphasize the importance of LGL1 in maintaining neuroepithelial cell polarity and reveal a novel role for LGL1 in regulating tumorigenesis and ablation in the cerebellar primordium.

Abstract
Numerous elements involved in shear stress-induced signaling have been identified, recognizing their functions as mechanotransducing ion channels situated at cellular membranes. This form of mechanical signaling relies on transmembrane proteins and cytoplasmic proteins that restructure the cytoskeleton, contributing to mechanotransduction cascades. Notably, blood flow generates mechanical forces that significantly impact the structure and remodeling of blood vessels. The primary regulation of blood vessel responses occurs through hemodynamic forces acting on the endothelium. These mechanical events intricately govern endothelial biophysical, biochemical, and genetic responses. Endothelial cells, positioned on the intimal surface of blood vessels, have the capability to express components of the glycocalyx. This endothelial structure emerges as a pivotal factor in mechanotransduction and the regulation of vascular tone. The endothelial glycocalyx assumes diverse roles in both health and disease. Our findings propose a connection between the release of specific enzymes from the rat liver and variations in the hepatic blood flow/mass ratio. Importantly, this phenomenon is not correlated with liver necrosis. Consequently, this review serves as an exploration of the potential involvement of membrane proteins in a hypothetical mechanotransducing phenomenon capable of controlling the release of liver enzymes.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Lumbosacral traumatic spondylolisthesis L5-S1 is a rare clinical entity that compromises the stability of the L5 vertebra by displacing it anteriorly, laterally, or posteriorly on the S1 vertebral body secondary to osteotendinous and/or articular compromise of this segment due to trauma. This pathology is difficult to classify and manage; although surgical management remains the gold standard, short- and long-term results in the literature are scarce and highly variable. PATIENT PRESENTATION We present the case of a 53-year-old patient with lumbar trauma due to a free fall from a height of 6 meters. The fall resulted in cauda equina syndrome secondary to lumbosacral traumatic spondylolisthesis L5-S1, which required immediate surgical management. INTERVENTION AND OUTCOME For surgical management, we used a posterior approach for L5-S1 transpedicular screw fixation, spinal decompression, bilateral root foraminotomy of L5, and L5-S1 open transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion with open reduction. After the operation, the patient reported immediate improvement of postoperative lower extremities pain and was discharged on the third postoperative day after achieving clinical improvement with physical therapy and bladder rehabilitation exercises. CONCLUSION Lumbosacral traumatic spondylolisthesis L5-S1 is an unusual pathology that requires further study as there is currently no standardized classification. Surgical management is the gold standard and includes open reduction with short transpedicular screw fixation in segment L5-S1 and other surgical interventions such as extension to the pelvis with iliac screws, screws to the L4 vertebral body, and use of lumbar interbody fusion cages. Abstract
BACKGROUND The optimal antithrombotic therapy following left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) remains debated. Ideally, this therapy should effectively prevent device-related thrombosis (DRT) while minimising the associated bleeding risk. AIMS We aimed to evaluate the long-term safety and efficacy of a postprocedural single antiplatelet therapy (SAPT) strategy following Amplatzer LAAO in a large consecutive cohort. METHODS This retrospective, single-centre, observational study included all patients discharged on SAPT after LAAO with the Amplatzer Cardiac Plug (ACP) or Amplatzer Amulet between March 2010 and December 2021 at Aarhus University Hospital, Denmark. Baseline, procedural, and imaging data were obtained locally, while clinical outcomes and medication data were extracted from the Danish national health registries. RESULTS A total of 553 patients underwent Amplatzer LAAO during the specified time frame. Of these, 431 (77.9%) high bleeding risk patients were discharged on SAPT with either acetylsalicylic acid (n=403, 72.9%) or clopidogrel (n=28, 5.1%). At 6 months, 173 (41.7%) patients were not on any antithrombotic therapy. The mean CHA2DS2-VASc and HAS-BLED scores were 3.9±1.5 and 3.4±1.1, respectively. DRT was detected in 6 (1.5%) patients on 8-week follow-up imaging using cardiac computed tomography (n=386, 89.6%) or transoesophageal echocardiography (n=27, 6.3%). The 1-year ischaemic stroke rate was 2.2% (95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.1-4.2). One-year rates for major bleeding and cardiovascular death were 5.9% (95% CI: 4.0-8.9) and 2.9% (95% CI: 1.6-5.1), respectively. CONCLUSIONS SAPT following Amplatzer LAAO displayed rates of DRT and stroke comparable to those reported with more intensive antithrombotic regimens. Meanwhile, we observed low rates of major bleeding.

Abstract
Despite their rarity, Lyme disease and Whipple's disease are of significant importance in rheumatology, as both can manifest as chronic arthritis, presenting challenges in the differential diagnosis of inflammatory arthropathies. In Lyme disease, arthritis typically emerges as a late manifestation, usually occurring six months after the onset of erythema migrans. The predominant presentation involves mono- or oligoarthritis of large joints, with a chronic or remitting-recurrent course. Even with appropriate antimicrobial treatment, arthritis may persist due to inadequate immunological control triggered by the disease. In contrast, Whipple's disease may present with a migratory and intermittent seronegative poly- or oligoarthritis of large joints, preceding classic gastrointestinal symptoms by several years. Both disorders, particularly Whipple's disease, can be misdiagnosed as more common autoimmune rheumatic conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and spondyloarthritis. Epidemiology is crucial in suspecting and diagnosing Lyme disease, as the condition is transmitted by ticks prevalent in specific areas of the United States, Europe, and Asia. On the contrary, the causative agent of Whipple's disease is widespread in the environment, yet invasive disease is rare and likely dependent on host genetic factors. In addition to erythema migrans in Lyme disease and gastrointestinal manifestations in Whipple's disease, neurological and cardiac involvement can further complicate the course of both. This article offers a comprehensive review of the epidemiological, pathophysiological, clinical, and therapeutic aspects of both diseases.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in the femoral neck fracture literature frequently report p-values for outcomes which have substantial implications in guiding surgical management. This study utilized the fragility index (FI), reverse fragility index (rFI), and fragility quotient (FQ) to assess the statistical stability of outcomes reported in RCTs evaluating the management and treatment of femoral neck fractures. METHODS Data Sources: Pubmed, Emabse, and MEDLINE were queried for RCTs (January 1, 2010 to February 28th, 2023) that evaluated surgical management/treatment of femoral neck fractures. Study Selection: RCTs with two treatment arms reporting categorical dichotomous outcomes were included. Non-RCT studies, RCTs with greater than 2 treatment arms, and RCTs without a femoral neck fracture cohort were excluded.Data Extraction and Synthesis: The FI and rFI were calculated as the number of outcome event reversals required to alter statistical significance for significant (p<0.05) and non-significant (p≥0.05) outcomes, respectively. The FQ was calculated by dividing the FI by the sample size for the study. RESULTS 985 articles were screened with 71 studies included for analysis. The median FI across a total of 197 outcomes was 4 (IQR 2-5) with an associated FQ of 0.033 (IQR 0.017-0.060). 47 outcomes were statistically significant with a median FI of 2 (IQR 1-4) and associated FQ of 0.02 (IQR 0.014-0.043). 150 outcomes were statistically non-significant with a median rFI of 4 (IQR 3-5) and associated FQ of 0.037 (IQR 0.019-0.065). CONCLUSION Statistical findings in femoral neck fracture RCTs are fragile with reversal of a median 4 outcomes altering significance of study findings. The authors thus recommend standardized reporting of p-values with FI and FQ metrics to aid in interpreting the robustness of outcomes in femoral neck fracture RCTs. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE Level I. Abstract
Suppressing metabolism in astronauts could decrease CO2 production. It is unknown whether active cooling is required to suppress metabolism in sedated patients. We hypothesized that hypothermia would have an additive effect with dexmedetomidine on suppressing metabolism. This is a randomized crossover trial of healthy subjects receiving sedation with dexmedetomidine and exposure to a cold (20°C) or thermal neutral (31°C) environment for 3 hours. We measured heart rate, blood pressure, core temperature, resting oxygen consumption (VO2), resting carbon dioxide production (VCO2), and resting energy expenditure (REE) at baseline and each hour of exposure to either environment. We also evaluated components of the Defense Automated Neurobehavioral Assessment (DANA) Brief to evaluate the effect of metabolic suppression on cognition. Six subjects completed the study. Heart rate and core temperature were lower during the cold (56 bpm) condition than the thermal neutral condition (67 bpm). VO2, VCO2, and REE decreased between baseline and the 3-hour measurement in the cold condition (Δ = 0.9 mL/min, 56.94 mL/min, 487.9 Kcal/D, respectively). DANA simple response time increased between baseline and start of recovery in both conditions (20°C 136.9 cognitive efficiency [CE] and 31°C 87.83 CE). DANA procedural reaction time increased between baseline and start of recovery in the cold condition (220.6 CE) but not in the thermal neutral condition. DANA Go/No-Go time increased between baseline and start of recovery in both conditions (20°C 222.1 CE and 31°C 122.3 CE). Sedation and cold environments are required for metabolic suppression. Subjects experienced decrements in cognitive performance in both conditions. A significant recovery period may be required after metabolic suppression before completing mission critical tasks.

Abstract
Coronavirus adult respiratory distress syndrome, characterized by decreased surfactant due to lysis of type II pneumocytes and hyaline membrane formation, contributes to severe hypoxemia. The administration of surfactant via high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) may positively affect lung structure and function in this context. In this study, we report on five clinical cases, encompassing patients aged 40-60 years of both sexes, who tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 via real-time polymerase chain reaction and exhibited significant pulmonary compromise with elevated inflammatory biomarkers. These patients were treated with aerosol therapy using surfactant delivered through vibrating-mesh nebulizers alongside HFNC. Of these patients, four demonstrated positive responses to the treatment, suggesting that aerosol therapy with surfactant through vibrating-mesh nebulizers could be a viable rescue therapy in adults receiving HFNC oxygen therapy for hypoxemic respiratory failure caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Unfortunately, one patient had a negative outcome and succumbed. The findings from these cases indicate that the use of aerosol therapy with vibrating-mesh nebulizers as rescue therapy might offer an alternative approach for managing adults with hypoxemic respiratory failure due to SARS-CoV-2, as evidenced by the positive outcomes in four out of the five cases presented.

Abstract
Messenger ribonucleic acid-based vaccines that target severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 have shown high effectiveness. While these Coronavirus Disease 2019 vaccines have a favorable safety profile, there can be rare adverse drug reactions that should be understood. Here, we report the case of a 65-year old male who displayed polymyalgia rheumatica soon after receiving the first dose of the BNT162b2 messenger ribonucleic acid Coronavirus Disease vaccine. Symptoms such as high fever and severe general pain occurred 10 days after vaccination. After administering more than 30 mg/day prednisolone, those symptoms persisted and inflammation continued until 90 days after vaccination. However, those symptoms disappeared over time, following vaccination, and the patient finally achieved complete remission from polymyalgia rheumatica without any additional treatment.

Abstract
Scabies is an itchy skin disease caused by the burrowing mite Sarcoptes scabiei. During their lifespan, the female mites invade the stratum corneum and create tunnels, in which they reside, move, feed, deposit fecal pellets, and lay eggs. Recently, scabies was included in the World Health Organization roadmap for neglected tropical diseases 2021-2030. This review attempts to summarize our knowledge about the mite's biology and the disease pathogenesis, pathological changes, and complications. Generally, the host-parasite interaction in scabies is highly complex and involves different mechanisms, some of which are yet largely unknown. Elucidation of the nature of such interaction as well as the underlying mechanisms could allow a better understanding of the mite's biology and the development of novel diagnostic and therapeutic options for scabies control programs. Moreover, identification of the molecular basis of such interaction could unveil novel targets for acaricidal agents and vaccines.

Abstract
Catheter-related suppurative thrombophlebitis (CRST) is a complication of catheter-related bloodstream infection (CRBSI). The microbiology of CRST is similar with the microbiology of CRBSI, but Clostridium perfringens that causes gas gangrene is a rare pathogen of CRBSI and CRST. We present a case of catheter-related gas-forming suppurative thrombophlebitis due to Clostridium perfringens infection. Gas-forming thrombus around the catheter can be useful findings for the early diagnosis of catheter-related clostridial thrombophlebitis.

Abstract
Malaria parasites have coevolved with humans over thousands of years, mirroring their migration out of Africa. They persist to this day, despite continuous elimination efforts worldwide. These parasites can adapt to changing environments during infection of human and mosquito, and when expanding the geographical range by switching vector species. Recent studies in the human malaria parasite, Plasmodium falciparum, identified determinants governing the plasticity of sexual conversion rates, sex ratio, and vector competence. Here we summarize the latest literature revealing environmental, epigenetic, and genetic determinants of malaria transmission.

Abstract
Hepatectomy is widely considered a potential treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Unfortunately, one-third of HCC patients have tumor recurrence within 2 years after surgery (early recurrence), accounting for more than 60% of all recurrence patients. Early recurrence is associated with a worse prognosis. Previous studies have shown that microvascular invasion (MVI) is one of the key factors for early recurrence and poor prognosis in patients with HCC after surgery. This paper reviews the latest literature and summarizes the predictors of MVI, the correlation between MVI and early recurrence, the identification of suspicious nodules or subclinical lesions, and the treatment strategies for MVI-positive HCC. The aim is to explore the management of patients with MVI-positive HCC.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Trifluridine/tipiracil (FTD/TPI) plus bevacizumab has shown clinical benefit for metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) refractory to standard therapy. However, few data have been available for patients with pretreated mCRC who are intolerant of intensive therapy (vulnerable). METHODS We performed a multicenter retrospective study (WJOG14520G; TWILIGHT) of FTD/TPI plus bevacizumab for vulnerable patients with pretreated mCRC. Eligibility criteria included previous chemotherapy (although patients treated with all key cytotoxic agents, a fluoropyrimidine, oxaliplatin, and irinotecan, were excluded) and intolerance of full-dose combination therapy with oxaliplatin or irinotecan at the start of FTD/TPI plus bevacizumab. RESULTS The median age of 93 evaluable patients was 79 years (range, 21-90). Intolerance of intensive therapy was attributable to an older age in 60 (65%) patients, serious concomitant disease in 24 (26%) patients, and a poor performance status in 19 (20%) patients. FTD/TPI plus bevacizumab was administered as second-line treatment in 74 (80%) patients and as third- or fourth-line treatment in 19 (20%) patients. The objective response rate was 4.9% (95% confidence interval [CI], 1.4%-12.2%), and the disease control rate was 67.9% (95% CI, 56.6%-77.8%). With a median follow-up time of 21.6 months, median overall survival and progression-free survival were 18.6 months (95% CI, 12.1-23.2) and 6.3 months (95% CI, 5.0-8.3), respectively. Neutropenia of grade ≥3 developed in 50 (54%) patients, whereas 2 (2%) patients experienced febrile neutropenia, and no treatment-related death was observed. CONCLUSION Our data show the potential efficacy and acceptable safety profile of FTD/TPI plus bevacizumab for vulnerable patients with pretreated mCRC.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Monitoring sensitivity of sonography in focused ultrasound ablation surgery (FUAS) is limited (no hyperechoes in ∼50% of successful coagulation in uterine fibroids). A more accurate and sensitive approach is required. METHOD The echo amplitudes of the focused ultrasound (FUS) transducer in a testing mode (short pulse duration and low power) were found to correlate with the ex vivo coagulation. To further evaluate its coagulation prediction capabilities, in vivo experiments were carried out. The liver, kidney, and leg muscles of three adult goats were treated using clinical FUAS settings, and the echo amplitude of the FUS transducer and grayscale in sonography before and after FUAS were collected. On day 7, animals were sacrificed humanely, and the treated tissues were dissected to expose the lesion. Echo amplitude changes and lesion areas were analyzed statistically, as were the coagulation prediction metrics. RESULTS The echo amplitude changes of the FUS transducer correlate well with the lesion areas in the liver (R = 0.682). Its prediction in accuracy (94.4% vs. 50%), sensitivity (92.9% vs. 35.7%), and negative prediction (80% vs. 30.8%) is better than sonography, but similar in specificity (80% vs. 100%) and positive prediction (100% vs. 100%). In addition, the correlation between tissue depth and the lesion area is not good (|R| < 0.2). Prediction performances in kidney and leg muscles are similar. CONCLUSION The FUS echo amplitudes are sensitive to the tissue properties and their changes after FUAS. They are sensitive and reliable in evaluating and predicting FUAS outcomes.

Abstract
Midbrain dopamine neurons impact neural processing in the prefrontal cortex (PFC) through mesocortical projections. However, the signals conveyed by dopamine projections to the PFC remain unclear, particularly at the single-axon level. Here, we investigated dopaminergic axonal activity in the medial PFC (mPFC) during reward and aversive processing. By optimizing microprism-mediated two-photon calcium imaging of dopamine axon terminals, we found diverse activity in dopamine axons responsive to both reward and aversive stimuli. Some axons exhibited a preference for reward, while others favored aversive stimuli, and there was a strong bias for the latter at the population level. Long-term longitudinal imaging revealed that the preference was maintained in reward- and aversive-preferring axons throughout classical conditioning in which rewarding and aversive stimuli were paired with preceding auditory cues. However, as mice learned to discriminate reward or aversive cues, a cue activity preference gradually developed only in aversive-preferring axons. We inferred the trial-by-trial cue discrimination based on machine learning using anticipatory licking or facial expressions, and found that successful discrimination was accompanied by sharper selectivity for the aversive cue in aversive-preferring axons. Our findings indicate that a group of mesocortical dopamine axons encodes aversive-related signals, which are modulated by both classical conditioning across days and trial-by-trial discrimination within a day.

Abstract
In this study, the photocatalytic removal of Reactive Red 120 (RR120) dye was examined using zeolite 13X incorporated with Zn-Ce under UV irradiation. The synthesis of Zn-Ce nanoparticles incorporated with zeolite 13X was conducted through the co-precipitation method, and the features of the prepared nanocatalyst were analyzed using various techniques. The SEM and BET analyses indicated successful incorporation of ZnO-Ce oxides on the surface of zeolite 13X and a specific surface area of 359.39 m2/gm, respectively. Further, the average size of crystal grains was 28 nm. The response surface methodology (RSM) approach was employed to optimize operating parameters. The quadratic model suggested by the RSM approach, characterized by a high regression coefficient (R2 = 0.9632), indicates a high level of reliability. Moreover, under optimal conditions (catalyst loading of 4 mg, pH of 3, H2O2 amount of 0.2 mL, UV power of 25 W, and reaction time of 60 min), the highest RR120 dye removal percentage was 99.97%. Kinetic data indicated an increase in the reaction rate constant from 0.0631 to 0.1796 min-1. The zeolite 13X incorporated with Zn-Ce photocatalyst exhibited excellent stability over 5 cycles, with only a 5.50% decrease in RR120 dye removal yield. This study demonstrates the promising potential of zeolite 13X incorporated with Zn-Ce nanoparticles for the removal of RR120 dye from aqueous suspension.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) are neurodevelopmental disorders with overlapping behavioral features and genetic etiology. While brain cortical thickness (CTh) alterations have been reported in ASD and ADHD separately, the degree to which ASD and ADHD are associated with common and distinct patterns of CTh changes is unclear. METHODS We searched PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, and Science Direct from inception to 8 December 2023 and included studies of cortical thickness comparing youth (age less than 18) with ASD or ADHD with typically developing controls (TDC). We conducted a comparative meta-analysis of vertex-based studies to identify common and distinct CTh alterations in ASD and ADHD. RESULTS Twelve ASD datasets involving 458 individuals with ASD and 10 ADHD datasets involving 383 individuals with ADHD were included in the analysis. Compared to TDC, ASD showed increased CTh in bilateral superior frontal gyrus, left middle temporal gyrus, and right superior parietal lobule (SPL) and decreased CTh in right temporoparietal junction (TPJ). ADHD showed decreased CTh in bilateral precentral gyri, right postcentral gyrus, and right TPJ relative to TDC. Conjunction analysis showed both disorders shared reduced TPJ CTh located in default mode network (DMN). Comparative analyses indicated ASD had greater CTh in right SPL and TPJ located in dorsal attention network and thinner CTh in right TPJ located in ventral attention network than ADHD. CONCLUSIONS These results suggest shared thinner TPJ located in DMN is an overlapping neurobiological feature of ASD and ADHD. This alteration together with SPL alterations might be related to altered biological motion processing in ASD, while abnormalities in sensorimotor systems may contribute to behavioral control problems in ADHD. The disorder-specific thinner TPJ located in disparate attention networks provides novel insight into distinct symptoms of attentional deficits associated with the two neurodevelopmental disorders. Abstract
In the last few decades, nanoparticles have been a prominent topic in various fields, particularly in agriculture, due to their unique physicochemical properties. Herein, molybdenum copper lindgrenite Cu3(MoO4)2(OH)2 (CM) nanoflakes (NFs) are synthesized by a one-step reaction involving α-MoO3 and CuCO3⋅Cu(OH)2⋅xH2O solution at low temperature for large scale industrial production and developed as an effective antifungal agent for the oilseed rape. This synthetic method demonstrates great potential for industrial applications. Infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction (XRD) results reveal that CM samples exhibit a pure monoclinic structure. TG and DSC results show the thermal stable properties. It can undergo a phase transition form copper molybdate (Cu3Mo2O9) at about 300 °C. Then Cu3Mo2O9 nanoparticles decompose into at CuO and MoO3 at 791 °C. The morphology of CM powder is mainly composed of uniformly distributed parallelogram-shaped nanoflakes with an average thickness of about 30 nm. Moreover, the binding energy of CM NFs is measured to be 2.8 eV. To assess the antifungal properties of these materials, both laboratory and outdoor experiments are conducted. In the pour plate test, the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of CM NFs against Sclerotinia sclerotiorum (S. sclerotiorum) is determined to be 100 ppm, and the zone of inhibiting S. sclerotiorum is 14 mm. When the concentration is above 100 nm, the change rate of the hyphae circle slows down a little and begins to decrease until to 200 ppm. According to the aforementioned findings, the antifungal effects of a nano CM NFs solution are assessed at different concentrations (0 ppm (clear water), 40 ppm, and 80 ppm) on the growth of oilseed rape in an outdoor setting. The results indicate that the application of CM NFs led to significant inhibition of S. sclerotiorum. Specifically, when the nano CM solution was sprayed once at the initial flowering stage at a concentration of 80 ppm, S. sclerotiorum growth was inhibited by approximately 34%. Similarly, when the solution was sprayed once at the initial flowering stage and once at the rape pod stage, using a concentration of 40 ppm, a similar level of inhibition was achieved. These outcomes show that CM NFs possess the ability to bind with more metal ions due to their larger specific surface area. Additionally, their semiconductor physical properties enable the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Therefore, CM NFs hold great potential for widespread application in antifungal products.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This meta-analysis aims to explore the potential link between vaccines and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). METHODS We systematically searched PubMed, Cochrane Library, and Embase for observational studies from inception to September 3, 2023, using medical subject headings (MeSH) and keywords. Study quality was assessed using the NOS scale. Statistical analyses were conducted using STATA software (version 14.0). Publication bias was evaluated using funnel plots and Egger's regression. RESULTS The meta-analysis incorporated 17 studies, encompassing 45,067,349 individuals with follow-up periods ranging from 0.5 to 2 years. The pooled analysis revealed no significant association between vaccinations and an increased risk of SLE [OR = 1.14, 95% CI (0.86-1.52), I2 = 78.1%, P = 0.348]. Subgroup analyses indicated that HBV vaccination was significantly associated with an elevated risk of SLE [OR =2.11, 95% CI (1.11-4.00), I2 = 63.3%, P = 0.02], HPV vaccination was slightly associated with an increased risk of SLE [OR = 1.43, 95% CI (0.88-2.31), I2 = 72.4%, P = 0.148], influenza vaccination showed no association with an increased risk of SLE [OR = 0.96, 95% CI (0.82-1.12), I2 = 0.0%, P = 0.559], and COVID-19 vaccine was marginally associated with a decreased risk of SLE [OR = 0.44, 95% CI (0.18-1.21), I2 = 91.3%, P = 0.118]. CONCLUSIONS This study suggests that vaccinations are not linked to an increased risk of SLE. Our meta-analysis results provide valuable insights, alleviating concerns about SLE risk post-vaccination and supporting further vaccine development efforts.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory disorder characterized by pathogenic hyperproliferation of keratinocytes and immune dysregulation. Currently, objective evaluation tools reflecting the severity of psoriasis are insufficient. MicroRNAs in extracellular vesicles (EV miRNAs) have been shown to be potential biomarkers for various inflammatory diseases. Our objective was to investigate the possibility of plasma-derived EV miRNAs as a marker for the psoriasis disease severity. METHODS EVs were extracted from the plasma of 63 patients with psoriasis and 12 with Behçet's disease. We performed next-generation sequencing of the plasma-derived EV miRNAs from the psoriasis patients. Real-time quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) was used to validate the level of EV miRNA expression. In situ hybridization was used to discern the anatomical location of miRNAs. qRT-PCR, western blotting, and cell counting kits (CCKs) were used to investigate IGF-1 signaling in cells transfected with miRNA mimics. RESULTS We identified 19 differentially expressed EV miRNAs and validated the top three up-and down-regulated EV miRNAs. Among these, miR-625-3p was significantly increased in patients with severe psoriasis in both plasma and skin and most accurately distinguished moderate-to-severe psoriasis from mild-to-moderate psoriasis. It was produced and secreted by keratinocytes upon stimulation. We also observed a significant intensification of IGF-1 signalling and increased cell numbers in the miR-625-3p mimic transfected cells. CONCLUSIONS We propose keratinocyte-derived EV miR-625-3p as a novel and reliable biomarker for estimating the severity of psoriasis. This biomarker could objectively evaluate the severity of psoriasis in the clinical setting and might serve as a potential therapeutic target. Trial registration None.

Abstract
Epilepsy is one of the most common neurologic conditions. Its clinical manifestations are not restricted to seizures but often include cognitive disturbances and psychiatric disorders. Prospective population-based studies have shown that people with epilepsy have an increased risk of developing mood disorders, and people with a primary mood disorder have an increased risk of developing epilepsy. The existence of common pathogenic mechanisms in epilepsy and mood disorders may explain the bidirectional relation between these two conditions. Recognition of a personal and family psychiatric history at the time of evaluation of people for a seizure disorder is critical in the selection of antiseizure medications: those with mood-stabilizing properties (e.g., lamotrigine, oxcarbazepine) should be favoured as a first option in those with a positive history while those with negative psychotropic properties (e.g., levetiracetam, topiramate) avoided. While mood disorders may be clinically identical in people with epilepsy, they often present with atypical manifestations that do not meet ICD or DSM diagnostic criteria. Failure to treat mood disorders in epilepsy may have a negative impact, increasing suicide risk and iatrogenic effects of antiseizure medications and worsening quality of life. Treating mood disorders in epilepsy is identical to those with primary mood disorders. Yet, there is a common misconception that antidepressants have proconvulsant properties. Most antidepressants are safe when prescribed at therapeutic doses. The incidence of seizures is lower in people randomized to antidepressants than placebo in multicenter randomized placebo-controlled trials of people treated for a primary mood disorder. Thus, there is no excuse not to prescribe antidepressant medications to people with epilepsy.

Abstract
Complex surgery is an essential component in the management of advanced ovarian cancer. Furthermore, achieving complete gross resection in cytoreductive surgery appears to be associated with significant survival benefits in patients with advanced ovarian cancer. The goal of this review is to demonstrate the advancement of surgical techniques in gynecologic oncology surgery, including resection of disease within the intrathoracic and inguinal regions. This progress has expanded the option of surgery to more patients, especially those who would have previously been deemed inoperable. In this review we describe the most notable studies and reports of surgical resection of ovarian cancer involving cardiophrenic/supradiaphragmatic lymph nodes, mediastinum, lung pleura or parenchyma, and the inguinal region. We also describe the growing role that video-assisted thoracic surgery has played in advanced ovarian cancer diagnosis and management. The studies, series, and reports described demonstrate that comprehensive surgical procedures outside of the abdomen or pelvis can be both safe and feasible in properly selected patients. They also suggest that resection of disease outside of the abdomen or pelvis may benefit appropriately selected patients. Future studies are necessary to identify which patients may benefit most from upfront surgery versus neoadjuvant chemotherapy when ovarian cancer metastasis is present in the thoracic or inguinal regions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis (ICAS), an important cause of stroke, is associated with a considerable stroke recurrence rate despite optimal medical treatment. Further assessment of the functional significance of ICAS is urgently needed to enable individualised treatment and, thus, improve patient outcomes. AIMS We aimed to evaluate the haemodynamic significance of ICAS using the quantitative flow ratio (QFR) technique and to develop a risk stratification model for ICAS patients. METHODS Patients with moderate to severe stenosis of the middle cerebral artery, as shown on angiography, were retrospectively enrolled. For haemodynamic assessment, the Murray law-based QFR (μQFR) was performed on eligible patients. Multivariate logistic regression models composed of μQFR and other risk factors were developed and compared for the identification of symptomatic lesions. Based on the superior model, a nomogram was established and validated by calibration. RESULTS Among 412 eligible patients, symptomatic lesions were found in 313 (76.0%) patients. The μQFR outperformed the degree of stenosis in discriminating culprit lesions (area under the curve [AUC]: 0.726 vs 0.631; DeLong test p-value=0.001), and the model incorporating μQFR and conventional risk factors also performed better than that containing conventional risk factors only (AUC: 0.850 vs 0.827; DeLong test p-value=0.034; continuous net reclassification index=0.620, integrated discrimination improvement=0.057; both p<0.001). The final nomogram showed good calibration (p for Hosmer-Lemeshow test=0.102) and discrimination (C-statistic 0.850, 95% confidence interval: 0.812-0.883). CONCLUSIONS The μQFR was significantly associated with symptomatic ICAS and outperformed the angiographic stenosis severity. The final nomogram effectively discriminated symptomatic lesions and may provide a useful tool for risk stratification in ICAS patients.
