Abstract
Microbial ferroptosis has been proved to combat drug-resistant pathogens, but whether this pattern can be applied to the prevention and control of Escherichia coli remains to be further explored. In this study, ferrous gluconate (FeGlu) showed remarkable efficacy in killing E. coli MG1655 with a mortality rate exceeding 99.9%, as well as enterotoxigenic E. coli H10407 (ETEC H10407) and enterohemorrhagic E. coli O157:H7 (EHEC O157:H7). Bacteria death was instigated by the infiltration of Fe2+, accompanied by a burst of intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) and lipid peroxidation. Notably, mitigating lipid peroxidation failed to alleviate death of E. coli. Further findings confirmed that FeGlu induced DNA damage, and ΔrecA mutant showed more sensitive, implicating that DNA damage was involved in the death of E. coli. The direct interaction of Fe2+ with DNA was demonstrated by fluorescent staining, gel electrophoresis, and circular dichroism (CD). Moreover, proteomic analysis unveiled 50 differentially expressed proteins (DEPs), including 18 significantly down-regulated proteins and 32 significantly up-regulated proteins. Among them, the down-regulation of SOS-responsive transcriptional suppressor LexA indicated DNA damage induced severely by FeGlu. Furthermore, FeGlu influenced pathways such as fatty acid metabolism (FadB, FadE), iron-sulfur cluster assembly (IscA, IscU, YadR), iron binding, and DNA-binding transcription, along with α-linolenic acid metabolism, fatty acid degradation, and pyruvate metabolism. These pathways were related to FeGlu stress, including lipid peroxidation and DNA damage. In summary, FeGlu facilitated ferroptosis in E. coli through mechanisms involving lipid peroxidation and DNA damage, which presents a new strategy for the development of innovative antimicrobial strategies targeting E. coli infections.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To assess the performance of hybrid multi-dimensional magnetic resonance imaging (HM-MRI) in quantifying hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining results, grading and predicting isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) mutation status of gliomas. MATERIALS AND METHODS Included were 71 glioma patients (mean age, 50.17 ± 13.38 years; 35 men). HM-MRI images were collected at five different echo times (80-200 ms) with seven b-values (0-3000 s/mm2). A modified three-compartment model with very-slow, slow and fast diffusion components was applied to calculate HM-MRI metrics, including fractions, diffusion coefficients and T2 values of each component. Pearson correlation analysis was performed between HM-MRI derived fractions and H&E staining derived percentages. HM-MRI metrics were compared between high-grade and low-grade gliomas, and between IDH-wild and IDH-mutant gliomas. Using receiver operational characteristic (ROC) analysis, the diagnostic performance of HM-MRI in grading and genotyping was compared with mono-exponential models. RESULTS HM-MRI metrics FDvery-slow and FDslow demonstrated a significant correlation with the H&E staining results (p < .05). Besides, FDvery-slow showed the highest area under ROC curve (AUC = 0.854) for grading, while Dslow showed the highest AUC (0.845) for genotyping. Furthermore, a combination of HM-MRI metrics FDvery-slow and T2Dslow improved the diagnostic performance for grading (AUC = 0.876). DISCUSSION HM-MRI can aid in non-invasive diagnosis of gliomas.

Abstract
Background: Various coping strategies have been shown to alleviate the negative effects of trauma, yet the significance of prosocial behaviour in this realm has been notably underexplored. The present study explored the hypothesis that engaging in prosocial behaviour mitigates the impacts of trauma by promoting a sense of competence and relatedness, post-traumatic growth (PTG), and reconstruction of meaning.Methods: Three consecutive studies were conducted with college students to compare differences in consequence of prosocial behaviours between a trauma group and a control group. Study 1 (N = 96) used self-reported experiences of traumatic vs non-traumatic events; Study 2 (N = 43) used exposure vs. no exposure to video of an earthquake; Study 3 (N = 20) used a randomized controlled trial (RCT) of a prosocial-themed intervention vs. no intervention. Outcomes in all studies were assessed by self-report questionnaires.Results: Trauma damaged participants' sense of competence and meaningfulness. Prosocial behaviour relieved the impact of trauma on meaning, specifically manifested in the individuals' sense of meaningfulness and their search for meaning. Group interventions with a prosocial theme (based on effect size results) reduced post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and enhanced PTG in victims. The promoting effect on PTG persisted a month later, and its enhancing effect on meaning manifested with a delay.Conclusion: Prosocial behaviour can potentially serve as a beneficial strategy for individuals coping with trauma because it helps enhance meaning and promotes PTG in victims. This conclusion is supported by laboratory experiments and a tentative small-scale intervention study, which provide an innovative perspective for future trauma interventions.

Abstract
The preparation of cobalt-based nanozymes with high oxidase-like activity still needs more efforts. In this paper, we report the synthesis of a CoO/Co-tryptophan-functional graphene quantum dot hybrid (CoO/Co-Try-GQD). Firstly, cobalt ions coordinate with the indole nitrogen on Try-GQD to form a complex, followed by thermal reduction and oxidation. The resulting hybrid presents a three-dimensional network structure, and CoO/Co nanoparticles are uniformly dispersed on the graphene sheet with an average size of 10 ± 0.24 nm. This unique structure improved the oxidase-like activity of the hybrid, enabling it to catalyze the oxidation of colorless 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) to rapidly produce deep blue ox-TMB with a strong absorbance at 652 nm (A652). A colorimetric method was developed for the highly sensitive determination of L-cysteine (L-cys) based on the inhibition of the hybrid's oxidase-like activity and low A652 caused by the binding of L-cys with Co atoms on CoO/Co via the Co-S bond. The A652 linearly decreased with increasing L-cys concentration in the range of 0.05-2 μM, and the detection limit was 0.032 μM. Further, the established method has been successfully applied to the determination of L-cys in milk.

Abstract
Over the years, pancreatic cancer has experienced a global surge in incidence and mortality rates, largely attributed to the influence of obesity and diabetes mellitus on disease initiation and progression. In this study, we investigated the pathogenesis of pancreatic cancer in mice subjected to a high-fat diet (HFD) and observed an increase in citric acid expenditure. Notably, citrate treatment demonstrates significant efficacy in promoting tumor cell apoptosis, suppressing cell proliferation, and inhibiting tumor growth in vivo. Our investigations revealed that citrate achieved these effects by releasing secreted protein acidic and rich in cysteine (SPARC) proteins, repolarizing M2 macrophages into M1 macrophages, and facilitating tumor cell apoptosis. Overall, our research highlights the critical role of citric acid as a pivotal metabolite in the intricate relationship between obesity and pancreatic cancer. Furthermore, we uncovered the significant metabolic and immune checkpoint function of SPARC in pancreatic cancer, suggesting its potential as both a biomarker and therapeutic target in treating this patient population.

Abstract
AIM This study aimed to evaluate the use of a concise fall risk stratification in assessing and predicting falls compared with the Morse Falls Scale among older adults with cataracts in day surgery settings. METHODS A historically controlled study conducted from July 2020 to June 2022 was used in a municipal ophthalmic hospital in China. The concise fall risk stratification which directly graded fall risk by multifactorial judgment was used during the intervention period, while the Morse Falls Scale which graded fall risk by scale scores was used during the control period. The fall risk levels, fall assessment time, fall rates, fall-related injuries, predictive validity, and patient satisfaction with day surgery care were extracted. Propensity score matching was performed to balance baselines. RESULTS After matching, 4132 patients were included in the final analysis. Compared with the control group, the intervention group had significantly higher assessment results for fall risk level, a significantly shorter (by 48.15%) fall assessment time, and higher patient satisfaction. There were no differences in fall rates and fall-related injuries. Compared with the Morse Falls Scale, the concise fall risk stratification had higher sensitivity and negative predictive validity, and lower specificity and positive predictive validity, while the area under curve did not differ significantly. CONCLUSION The use of the concise fall risk stratification reduced fall assessment time, improved patient satisfaction, and is unlikely to impact falls with an overall predictive performance comparable to that of the Morse Falls Scale for older cataract adults in day surgery settings.

Abstract
Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) was employed as an intermediate layer to enhance interfacial interaction between chitosan (CS) coating and tangerine fruits, thereby improving the preservation effect. Owing to the low surface tension of tangerine fruit (26.04 mN/m), CS coating solutions showed poor wetting properties on fruit peels (contact angle > 100°). However, by applying a 1.0 % (w/v) HPMC coating on fruits, the contact angle of CS solutions with concentrations of 0.5 %, 1.0 %, and 1.5 % (w/v) decreased to 47.0°, 47.4°, and 48.5°, respectively, whereas the spreading coefficient increased to -16.0 mN/m, -17.6 mN/m and -19.8 mN/m, respectively. Subsequently, the effects of the coatings on fruit quality were investigated. The results demonstrated the promising performance of HPMC-CS two-layer coating in inhibiting fruit respiration, reducing decay rate, and maintaining nutrient content. Notably, HPMC-1.5%CS coating not only reduced the decay rate of tangerine fruit by 45 % and 31 %, in comparison to the uncoated group (CK) and pure CS coating respectively, but also maintained a high content of ascorbic acid. Therefore, this study confirmed that the use of amphiphilic polymers for improving the surface properties of fruits can effectively facilitate the wetting of hydrophilic coatings on fruits, and significantly improve the fresh-keeping performance of edible coatings.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Viruses are the main infectious agents of acute respiratory infections (ARIs) in children. We aim to describe the changes in epidemic characteristics of viral ARIs in outpatient children before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. PATIENTS AND METHODS From 2017 to 2022, the results of viral detection in oral pharyngeal swabs in 479,236 children with ARIs in the outpatient department of Children's Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, were retrospectively analyzed. Viral antigens, including adenovirus (ADV), influenza A (FLUA), influenza B (FLUB) and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) were detected by the colloidal gold method. RESULTS The median age was 3.4 (1.6-5.6) years. Among all the children, 159,895 cases (33.4 %) were positive for at least one virus. The total positive rate for ADV, FLUA and FLUB during the pandemic period was lower than during the pre-pandemic period in every season (pre-pandemic period vs. pandemic period11.7 % vs. 4.7 %, 13.9 % vs. 9.2 %, 7.0 % vs. 5.2 %, respectively, with overall p value < 0.001). However, the positive rate fir RSV was not significantly different between the pre-pandemic period and the pandemic period (5.6 % vs. 5.8 %, p = 0.117). Atypical timing of RSV (summer-autumn 2021) and FLUA (summer 2022) was noted. CONCLUSIONS Public health interventions for different pathogens are maximally effective. While positive rates for ADV, FLUA and FLUB decreased during the COVID-19 pandemic period, positive rates for RSV remained similar. In RSV and FLUA, off-season outbreaks were observed. Measures need to be taken to protect children from possible infection surges due to immunity debt having accrued over the last three years.

Abstract
Apoptosis is a physiological cell death phenomenon, representing one of the fundamental physiological mechanisms for maintaining homeostasis in living organisms. Previous studies have observed typical apoptotic features in Carassius auratus gibelio caudal fin cell (GiCF) infected with Cyprinid herpesvirus 2 (CyHV-2), and found a significant up-regulation of ccBAX expression in these infected cells. However, the specific apoptotic mechanism involved remains unclear. In this study, we utilized the GiCF cell line to investigate the apoptotic mechanism during CyHV-2 infection. Immunofluorescence staining revealed translocation of ccBAX into mitochondria upon CyHV-2 infection. Flow cytometry analysis demonstrated that overexpression of ccBAX expedited virus-induced apoptosis, characterized by heightened mitochondrial depolarization, increased transcriptional levels of Cytochrome c (Cyto c) in both the cytoplasm and mitochondria, and augmented Caspase 3/7 enzyme activity. Bax inhibitor peptide V5 (BIP-V5), an inhibitor interfering with the function of Bax proteins, inhibited Bax-mediated apoptotic events through the mitochondrial pathway and attenuated apoptosis induced by CyHV-2. In this study, it was identified for the first time that CyHV-2 induces apoptosis via the mitochondrial pathway in GiCF cells, bridging an important gap in our understanding regarding cell death mechanisms induced by herpesvirus infections in fish species. These findings provide a theoretical basis for comprehending viral apoptotic regulation mechanisms and the prevention and control of cellular pathologies caused by CyHV-2 infection.

Abstract
This Letter presents the first study of Higgs boson production in association with a vector boson (V=W or Z) in the fully hadronic qqbb final state using data recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC in proton-proton collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 137 fb^{-1}. The vector bosons and Higgs bosons are each reconstructed as large-radius jets and tagged using jet substructure techniques. Dedicated tagging algorithms exploiting b-tagging properties are used to identify jets consistent with Higgs bosons decaying into bb[over ¯]. Dominant backgrounds from multijet production are determined directly from the data, and a likelihood fit to the jet mass distribution of Higgs boson candidates is used to extract the number of signal events. The VH production cross section is measured inclusively and differentially in several ranges of Higgs boson transverse momentum: 250-450, 450-650, and greater than 650 GeV. The inclusive signal yield relative to the standard model expectation is observed to be μ=1.4_{-0.9}^{+1.0} and the corresponding cross section is 3.1±1.3(stat)_{-1.4}^{+1.8}(syst) pb.

Abstract
Background Acute pancreatitis (AP) is a severe digestive system disorder with a significant risk of progressing to sepsis, a major cause of mortality. Unraveling the immunological pathways in AP is essential for developing effective treatments, particularly understanding the role of specific immune cell traits in this progression. Methods Employing a bidirectional two-sample Mendelian Randomization (MR) approach, this study first examined the causal relationship between AP and 731 immune cell traits to identify those significantly associated with AP. Subsequently, we explored the causal associations between 731 immune cell traits and sepsis. The analysis utilized extensive genome-wide association studies (GWAS) summary datasets, with a focus on identifying common immune cell traits with statistically significant causal associations between AP and sepsis. Results Our investigation identified 44 immune cell traits unidirectionally associated with AP and 36 traits unidirectionally associated with sepsis. Among these, CD127 on CD28+ CD45RA- CD8+ T cells emerged as a common mediator, accounting for 5.296% of the increased risk of sepsis in AP patients. This finding highlights the significant role of specific memory CD8+ T cells in the pathophysiology of AP and its progression to sepsis. Conclusion This study elucidates the critical role of specific immune cell traits, particularly CD127hi memory CD8+ T cells, in the progression of AP to sepsis. Our findings provide a foundation for future research into targeted immune-modulatory therapies, potentially improving patient outcomes in AP-related sepsis and offering new insights into the complex immunological dynamics of this condition.

Abstract
To accelerate the development of novel fungicides, a variety of N-(pyrazol-5-yl)benzamide derivatives with a diphenylamine moiety were designed and synthesized using a pharmacophore recombination strategy based on the structure of pyrazol-5-yl-aminophenyl-benzamides. The bioassay results demonstrated that most of the target compounds had excellent in vitro antifungal activities against Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, Valsa mali, and Botrytis cinerea. In particular, compound 5IIIh exhibited remarkable activity against S. sclerotiorum (EC50 = 0.37 mg/L), which was similar to that of fluxapyroxad (EC50 = 0.27 mg/L). In addition, compound 5IIIc (EC50 = 1.32 mg/L) was observed to be more effective against V. mali than fluxapyroxad (EC50 = 12.8 mg/L) and comparable to trifloxystrobin (EC50 = 1.62 mg/L). Furthermore, compound 5IIIh demonstrated remarkable in vivo protective antifungal properties against S. sclerotiorum, with an inhibition rate of 96.8% at 100 mg/L, which was close to that of fluxapyroxad (99.6%). Compounds 5IIIc (66.7%) and 5IIIh (62.9%) exhibited good in vivo antifungal effects against V. mali at 100 mg/L, which were superior to that of fluxapyroxad (11.1%) but lower than that of trifloxystrobin (88.9%). The succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) enzymatic inhibition assay was conducted to confirm the mechanism of action. Molecular docking analysis further revealed that compound 5IIIh has significant hydrogen-bonding, π-π, and p-π conjugation interactions with ARG 43, SER 39, TRP 173, and TYR 58 in the binding site of SDH, and the binding mode was similar to that of the commercial fungicide fluxapyroxad. All of the results suggest that compound 5IIIh could be a potential SDH inhibitor, offering a valuable reference for future studies.

Abstract
Intricate cerebral cortex formation is orchestrated by the precise behavior and division dynamics of radial glial cells (RGCs). Endocytosis functions in the recycling and remodeling of adherens junctions (AJs) in response to changes in RGC activity and function. Here, we show that conditional disruption of ubiquitin-associated protein 1 (UBAP1), a component of endosomal sorting complex required for transport (ESCRT), causes severe brain dysplasia and prenatal ventriculomegaly. UBAP1 depletion disrupts the AJs and polarity of RGCs, leading to failure of apically directed interkinetic nuclear migration. Accordingly, UBAP1 knockout or knockdown results in reduced proliferation and precocious differentiation of neural progenitor cells. Mechanistically, UBAP1 regulates the expression and surface localization of cell adhesion molecules, and β-catenin over-expression significantly rescues the phenotypes of Ubap1 knockdown in vivo. Our study reveals a critical physiological role of the ESCRT machinery in cortical neurogenesis by regulating AJs of RGCs.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the clinical and genetic characteristics of asparagine synthase deficiency. Methods: Case series studies. Retrospective analysis and summary of the clinical data of 6 cases with asparagine synthase deficiency who were diagnosed by genetic testing and admitted to the Third Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from May 2017 to April 2023 were analyzed retrospectively. The main clinical features, laboratory and imaging examination characteristics of the 6 cases were summarized, and the gene variation sites of them were analyzed. Results: All of the 6 cases were male, with onset ages ranging from 1 month to 1 year and 4 months. All of the 6 cases had cognitive and motor developmental delay, with 3 cases starting with developmental delay, 3 cases starting with convulsions and later experiencing developmental arrest or even regression. All of 6 cases had epilepsy, in whom 2 cases with severe microcephaly developed epileptic encephalopathy in the early stages of infancy with spasms as the main form of convulsions, 4 cases with mild or no microcephaly gradually evolved into convulsions with no fever after multiple febrile convulsions with focal seizures, tonic clonic seizures and tonic seizure as the main forms of convulsions. Three cases of 4 gradually developed into stagnation or even regression of development and ataxia after multiple convulsions with no fever. There were normal cranial imaging in 2 cases, dysplasia of the brains in 1 cases, frontal lobe apex accompanied by abnormal white matter signal in the frontal lobe and thin corpus callosum in 1 case, thin corpus callosum and abnormal lateral ventricular morphology in 1 case, and normal in early stage, but gradually developing into cerebellar atrophy at the age of 5 years and 9 months in 1 case. Two cases underwent visual evoked potential tests, the results of which were both abnormal. Three cases underwent auditory evoked potential examination, with 1 being normal and 2 being abnormal. All of 6 cases had variations in the asparagine synthase gene, with 2 deletion variations and 7 missense variations. The variations of 2 cases had not been reported so far, including c.1341_1343del and c.1283A>G, c.1165_1167del and c.1075G>A. The follow-up time ranged from 3 months to 53 months. Two cases who had severe microcephaly died in infancy, while the other 4 cases with mild or no microcephaly were in survival states until the follow-up days but the control of epilepsy was poor. Conclusions: Asparagine synthase deficiency has a certain degree of heterogeneity in clinical phenotype. Children with obvious microcephaly often present as severe cases, while children with mild or no microcephaly have relatively mild clinical manifestations. The variation of asparagine synthetase gene is mainly missense variation.

Abstract
Objective: To explore potential predictors of refractory Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (RMPP) in early stage. Methods: The prospective multicenter study was conducted in Zhejiang, China from May 1st, 2019 to January 31st, 2020. A total of 1 428 patients with fever >48 hours to <120 hours were studied. Their clinical data and oral pharyngeal swab samples were collected; Mycoplasma pneumoniae DNA in pharyngeal swab specimens was detected. Patients with positive Mycoplasma pneumoniae DNA results underwent a series of tests, including chest X-ray, complete blood count, C-reactive protein, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), and procalcitonin. According to the occurrence of RMPP, the patients were divided into two groups, RMPP group and general Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (GMPP) group. Measurement data between the 2 groups were compared using Mann-Whitney U test. Logistic regression analyses were used to examine the associations between clinical data and RMPP. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were used to analyse the power of the markers for predicting RMPP. Results: A total of 1 428 patients finished the study, with 801 boys and 627 girls, aged 4.3 (2.7, 6.3) years. Mycoplasma pneumoniae DNA was positive in 534 cases (37.4%), of whom 446 cases (83.5%) were diagnosed with Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia, including 251 boys and 195 girls, aged 5.2 (3.3, 6.9) years. Macrolides-resistant variation was positive in 410 cases (91.9%). Fifty-five cases were with RMPP, 391 cases with GMPP. The peak body temperature before the first visit and LDH levels in RMPP patients were higher than that in GMPP patients (39.6 (39.1, 40.0) vs. 39.2 (38.9, 39.7) ℃, 333 (279, 392) vs. 311 (259, 359) U/L, both P<0.05). Logistic regression showed the prediction probability π=exp (-29.7+0.667×Peak body temperature (℃)+0.004×LDH (U/L))/(1+exp (-29.7+0.667×Peak body temperature (℃)+0.004 × LDH (U/L))), the cut-off value to predict RMPP was 0.12, with a consensus of probability forecast of 0.89, sensitivity of 0.89, and specificity of 0.67; and the area under ROC curve was 0.682 (95%CI 0.593-0.771, P<0.01). Conclusion: In MPP patients with fever over 48 to <120 hours, a prediction probability π of RMPP can be calculated based on the peak body temperature and LDH level before the first visit, which can facilitate early identification of RMPP.

Abstract
Long-read-based de novo and somatic structural variant (SV) discovery remains challenging, necessitating genomic comparison between samples. We developed SVision-pro, a neural-network-based instance segmentation framework that represents genome-to-genome-level sequencing differences visually and discovers SV comparatively between genomes without any prerequisite for inference models. SVision-pro outperforms state-of-the-art approaches, in particular, the resolving of complex SVs is improved, with low Mendelian error rates, high sensitivity of low-frequency SVs and reduced false-positive rates compared with SV merging approaches.

Abstract
Purpose Australian general practice training uses external clinical teaching (ECT) visits for formative work-based assessments. ECT visits appoint senior general-practitioners (GPs) observe trainee GPs' consultations, provide feedback, and make performance-enhancing recommendations. As ECT visits are one of the best assessment tools in Australian GP training, there is limited evidence of its use in undergraduate teaching. This study aims to introduce ECT visits and evaluate assessment tools during senior medical students' GP placement. Methods This study included external and internal GP supervisors and twenty-five Chinese and Australian students during GP placements. The supervisors provided structured in-person feedback, while the ECT assessment tool used a standardised, validated feedback platform to assess every component of a consultation. Students' feedback was recorded and collected by both internal and external supervisors, and then semantically analysed by external supervisors. Results Twenty-five ECT visit feedbacks were collected and analysed semantically. All participating students rated ECT visits excellently and confirmed the relevance of assessment tools for discussions with supervisors to achieve the designed learning outcomes. Chinese students rated the assessment tools as innovative from a cultural perspective and recommended the ECT visit teaching model and assessment tools to their home university, whereas Australian students suggested more ECT visits during GP placements. Time management was a limitation for both the students and supervisors. Conclusion ECT visit is an innovative placement teaching model and work-based assessment tool for senior medical students' GP placements, and is rated as the most preferred formative assessment tool. The limitations of this study include small group of students/supervisors and lack of patient feedback; however, all of these limitations can be overcome by involving multiple GP clinics in ongoing large-scale study. ECT visits can be introduced quantitatively into students' GP placement curricula to improve clinical reasoning, learning, and quality assurance with assessments during clinical placements.

Abstract
KCTD10 belongs to the KCTD (potassiumchannel tetramerization domain) family, many members of which are associated with neuropsychiatric disorders. However, the biological function underlying the association with brain disorders remains to be explored. Here, we reveal that Kctd10 is highly expressed in neuronal progenitors and layer V neurons throughout brain development. Kctd10 deficiency triggers abnormal proliferation and differentiation of neuronal progenitors, reduced deep-layer (especially layer V) neurons, increased upper-layer neurons, and lowered brain size. Mechanistically, we screened and identified a unique KCTD10-interacting protein, KCTD13, associated with neurodevelopmental disorders. KCTD10 mediated the ubiquitination-dependent degradation of KCTD13 and KCTD10 ablation resulted in a considerable increase of KCTD13 expression in the developing cortex. KCTD13 overexpression in neuronal progenitors led to reduced proliferation and abnormal cell distribution, mirroring KCTD10 deficiency. Notably, mice with brain-specific Kctd10 knockout exhibited obvious motor deficits. This study uncovers the physiological function of KCTD10 and provides unique insights into the pathogenesis of neurodevelopmental disorders.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the cost-effectiveness of hepatitis C screening in general population in China, and find the age group in which hepatitis C screening can achieve the best cost-effectiveness. Methods: A decision-Markov model was constructed by using software TreeAge pro 2019 to simulate the outcomes of hepatitis C disease pregression of 100 000 persons aged 20-59 years. The cost-effectiveness of the strategies were evaluated from societal perspectives by using incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER) and net monetary benefit (NMB). One-way sensitivity analysis and probability sensitivity analysis were used to evaluate the uncertainty of parameters and model. Results: Hepatitis C screening was cost-effective in people aged 20- 59 years and the cost effectiveness was best in age group 40-49 years. Compared with non-screening strategy of hepatitis C in people aged 20-59 years, the incremental cost was 161.24 yuan, the incremental utility was 0.003 6 quality adjusted life years (QALYs)/per person, ICER was 45 197.26 yuan/QALY, ICER was less than the willing payment threshold. The ICER and NMB in all age groups were 42 055.06-53 249.43 yuan/QALY and 96.52-169.86 yuan/per person. Hepatitis C screening in people aged 40-49 years had the best cost-effectiveness. The results of one-way sensitivity analysis showed that the discount rate, anti-HCV detection cost, anti-HCV infection rate and the cost of direct antiviral agents were the main factors influencing economic evaluation. The results of the probability sensitivity analysis indicated that the model analysis was stable. Conclusions: Implementing hepatitis C screening based on medical institutions is cost-effective in people aged 20- 59 years, especially in those aged 40-49 years. Implementing the HCV screening strategy of be willing to test as far as possible in general population can reduce hepatitis C disease burden in China.

Abstract
ATLAS measured the centrality dependence of the dijet yield using 165 nb^{-1} of p+Pb data collected at sqrt[s_{NN}]=8.16 TeV in 2016. The event centrality, which reflects the p+Pb impact parameter, is characterized by the total transverse energy registered in the Pb-going side of the forward calorimeter. The central-to-peripheral ratio of the scaled dijet yields, R_{CP}, is evaluated, and the results are presented as a function of variables that reflect the kinematics of the initial hard parton scattering process. The R_{CP} shows a scaling with the Bjorken x of the parton originating from the proton, x_{p}, while no such trend is observed as a function of x_{Pb}. This analysis provides unique input to understanding the role of small proton spatial configurations in p+Pb collisions by covering parton momentum fractions from the valence region down to x_{p}∼10^{-3} and x_{Pb}∼4×10^{-4}.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a chronic bronchitis (or) emphysema with a high disability and fatality rate. This study aimed to explore the correlation between the six selected single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and the risk of COPD in the Chinese population. METHODS The Agena MassARRAY platform was used to select six SNPs from 629 subjects for genotyping. The correlation between SNPs and COPD risk was evaluated using calculated odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Multi-factor dimensionality reduction (MDR) was performed to analyze the impact of SNP interactions on COPD risk. Multiple comparisons were performed using Bonferroni- correction. RESULTS Our results indicated that rs4719841 and rs7934083 variants were associated with a reduced risk of COPD. The analysis results of age, gender and non-smokers showed that rs4719841 and rs7934083 were associated with reducing the risk of COPD. In addition, the results showed that the genetic models of rs4719841, rs7934083 and rs7780562 were related to the forced vital capacity, respiratory rate per second, and respiratory rate / forced vital capacity of COPD patients, respectively. The results of the MDR analysis showed that the three-locus model (rs4719841, rs7934083, and rs78750958) is the best for COPD risk assessment. CONCLUSION This study shows that rs4719841 and rs7934083 are associated with the risk of COPD in the Chinese population, which provides some insights for early screening, prevention, and diagnosis of COPD in high-risk populations.

Abstract
Feed cost accounts for a high proportion of sheep production, and improving sheep's utilization of feed will reduce production costs and improve economic benefits. The purpose of this study was to investigate the expression characteristics of PLIN1 and MOGAT1 genes and the relationship between their polymorphisms and feed efficiency traits in Hu sheep, and to find molecular Genetic marker that can be used in breeding. The expression levels of PLIN1 and MOGAT1 genes in various tissues were determined using quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR). The results showed that PLIN1 and MOGAT1 genes were widely expressed in heart, liver, spleen, lungs, kidneys, rumen, duodenum, muscle, lymph, and tail fat. The PLIN1 gene had the highest expression level in in the tail fat compared to the other nine tissues. The expression levels of MOGAT1 gene in liver, tail fat, lung and heart was significantly higher than in kidney, muscle and lymph. The expression level of MOGAT1 was lowest in muscle compared to the other tissues (heart, liver, spleen, lung, rumen and tail fat). We recorded the body weight (BW80 and BW180) and feed intake (FI) information of 985 male Hu sheep at 80 and 180 days of age, and calculated the daily average feed intake (ADFI), average daily gain (ADG), and feed conversion rate (FCR) from 80 to 180 days of age. Two intronic mutations, g.18517910 A > G and g.224856118 G > C, were identified in PLIN1 and MOGAT1 genes by PCR amplification and Sanger sequencing. MassARRAY ® SNP detection technology was used to genotype the DNA of 985 Hu sheep and analyze its association with feed efficiency traits. The results showed that the SNP g.18517910 A > G was significantly associated with BW80, BW180, FI, ADFI and FCR (P < 0.05), while SNP g.2248561118 G > C was significantly associated with FCR (P < 0.05). Meanwhile, significant differences were also observed in different combinations of genotypes (P < 0.05). Therefore, these two polymorphic loci can serve as candidate molecular markers for improving feed utilization efficiency in Hu sheep.

Abstract
Adeno-associated virus (AAV) vectors have been widely used in therapy to treat hereditary retinal diseases. But its transduction efficiency by intravitreal injection still needs to be improved. In this study, we investigated the transduction efficiency of AAV-DJ (K137R)-GFP in different retinal cells of normal mice, as well as the therapy effection of AAV-DJ (K137R)-Rs1 on retinal function and structure in Rs1-KO mice. The intravitreal injection of AAV-DJ (K137R)-GFP demonstrated that this vector transduced cells in all layers of the retina, including the inner nuclear layer and photoreceptor layer. The intravitreal injection of AAV-DJ (K137R)-Rs1 found that 3 months post-injection of this vector improved retinal function and structure in Rs1-KO mice. Our conclusion is that AAV-DJ (K137R) vector can efficiently and safely penetrate the inner limiting membrane and transduce different layers of retinal cells in the long term, as well as being able to continuously and efficiently express target therapeutic proteins, making it a candidate therapeutic vector for X-linked retinoschisis (XLRS).

Abstract
During space exploration, space radiation is widely recognized as an inescapable perilous stressor, owing to its capacity to induce genomic DNA damage and escalate the likelihood of detrimental health outcomes. Rapid and reliable estimation of space radiation dose holds paramount significance in accurately assessing the health risks associated with spaceflight. However, the identification of space radiation-responsive genes, with their potential to serve as early indicators for diagnosing radiation dose associated with spaceflight, continues to pose a significant challenge. In this study, based on the evolutionarily conserved mechanism of radiation response, an in silico analysis method of homologous comparison was performed to identify the Caenorhabditis elegans orthologues of human radiation-responsive genes with possible roles in the major processes of response to radiation, and thereby to explore the potential C. elegans radiation-responsive genes for evaluating the levels of space radiation exposure. The results showed that there were 60 known C. elegans radiation-responsive genes and 211 C. elegans orthologues of human radiation-responsive genes implicated in the major processes of response to radiation. Through an investigation of all available transcriptomic datasets obtained from space-flown C. elegans, it was observed that the expression levels of the majority of these putative C. elegans radiation-responsive genes identified in this study were notably changed across various spaceflight conditions. Furthermore, this study indicated that within the identified genes, 19 known C. elegans radiation-responsive genes and 40 newly identified C. elegans orthologues of human radiation-responsive genes exhibited a remarkable positive correlation with the duration of spaceflight. Moreover, a noteworthy presence of substantial multi-collinearity among the majority of these identified genes was observed. This observation lends support to the possibility of treating each identified gene as an independent indicator of radiation dose in space. Ultimately, a subset of 15 potential radiation-responsive genes was identified, presenting the most promising indicators for estimation of radiation dose associated with spaceflight in C. elegans.

Abstract
BACKGROUNDS This study aimed to identify risk factors for the progression of coronary artery lesions (CALs) in children with Kawasaki disease (KD) and to develop a nomogram prediction model. METHODS This is a retrospective case-control study in which the participants were categorized into three groups based on the changes of the maximum Z score (Zmax) of coronary arteries at the 1-month follow-up compared with the baseline Zmax: CALs-progressed, CALs-improved, and CALs-unchanged. RESULTS Of total 387 patients, 65 (27%), 319 (73%), and 3 (0.7%) patients were categorized into CALs-progressed group, CALs-improved group, and CALs-unchanged group, respectively. Six independent factors associated with CALs progression were identified, including initial IVIG resistance, baseline Zmax, the number of coronary arteries involved, C-reactive protein, albumin, and soluble interleukin-2 receptor (odds ratio: 7.19, 1.51, 2.32, 1.52, 0.86, and 1.46, respectively; all P-values < 0.01). The nomogram prediction model including these six independent risk factors yielded an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.80 (95% confidence interval, 0.74 to 0.86). The accuracy of this model reached 81.7% after the Monte-Carlo Bootstrapping 1000 repetitions. CONCLUSIONS The nomogram prediction model can identify children at high risk for the progression of CALs at early stages. IMPACT Six independent factors associated with CALs progression were identified, including initial IVIG resistance, baseline Zmax, the number of coronary arteries involved, CRP, ALB, and sIL-2R. The prediction model we constructed can identify children at high risk for the progression of CALs at early stages and help clinicians make individualized treatment plans. Prospective, multi-centered studies with larger sample sizes are warranted to validate the power of this prediction model in children with KD.
