Abstract
Three imine and three reduced imine ligands containing aromatic sulfonamide (2-7) were isolated by a simple method and characterized by FT-IR, NMR, and elemental analysis. Meanwhile, the interaction of 2-7 ligands with [(p-cymene)RuCl2]2 was analyzed in situ by UV-vis spectrophotometer. The in situ generated catalytic system derived from N-(2-(benzylideneamino)phenyl)-2,4,6-trimethyl-benzenesulfonamides and N-(2-(benzylamino)phenyl)-2,4,6-trimethyl-benzenesulfonamides with [(p-cymene)RuCl2]2 was used as a catalyst in the transfer hydrogenation (TH) of p-substituted acetophenone derivatives. The catalytic systems displayed high activities, which increased in the order 7<4<5<6<1<2<3. The best activity for the TH of 4-chloroacetophenone was provided with the [(p-cymene)RuCl2]2/ligand (3) catalytic system (turnover frequency values: 720 h(-1) for 10 min on S/C: 500/1).

Abstract
The diphosphine ligand, N,N'-bis(2-diphenylphosphinoethyl)isophthalamide, dpipa, contains two amide groups and can form cis or trans chelate complexes or cis,cis or trans, trans bridged complexes. The amide groups are likely to be involved in intramolecular or intermolecular hydrogen bonding. This combination of properties of the ligand dpipa leads to very unusual structural properties of its complexes, which often exist as mixtures of monomers and dimers in solution. In the complex [Au2(μ-dpipa)2]Cl2, the ligands adopt the trans, trans bridging mode, with linear gold(I) centers, and the amide groups hydrogen bond to the chloride anions. In [Pt2Cl4(μ-dpipa)2], the ligands adopt the cis,cis bridging mode, with square planar platinum(II) centers, and the amide groups form intermolecular hydrogen bonds to the chloride ligands to form a supramolecular one-dimensional polymer. Both the monomeric and dimeric complexes [PtMe2(dpipa)] and [Pt2Me4(μ-dpipa)2] have cis-PtMe2 units with cis chelating or cis,cis bridging dpipa ligands respectively; each forms a supramolecular dimer through hydrogen bonding between amide groups and each contains an unusual NH···Pt interaction. An attempted oxidative addition reaction with methyl iodide gave the complex [PtIMe(dpipa)], which contains trans chelating dpipa, while a reaction with bromine gave a disordered complex with approximate composition [Pt2Me3Br5(μ-dpipa)2], which contains trans, trans bridging dpipa ligands.

Abstract
We present a systematic study of the complexation of the new pseudopeptidic ligand isophthaloylbisglycine (H(2)IBG) with divalent metal ions of varying ionic radius. This work represents the initial employment of H(2)IBG in the coordination chemistry of alkaline earth, 3d transition, Zn(II) and Cd(II) metal elements. Infrared, NMR, thermal, magnetic, adsorption and theoretical studies of these compounds are also discussed.

Abstract
Schiff bases derived from 2-nitrobenzaldehyde with amino acids (glycine, methionine) and their Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes have been synthesized and characterized by various physico-chemical techniques. From spectral studies, it has been concluded that the ligands acts as bidentate molecule, coordinates metal through azomethine nitrogen and carboxylate oxygen. Mass spectrum explains the successive degradation of the molecular species in solution and justifies ML(2) complexes. X-ray powder diffraction helps to determine the cell parameters of the complexes. Molecular structure of the complexes has been optimized by MM2 calculations and suggests a square planar geometry. The ligands and their metal complexes have been tested in vitro against Streptococcus, Staph, Staphylococcus aureus and Escherchia coli bacteria in order to assess their antibacterial potential. The results indicate that the biological activity increases on complexation.

Abstract
The zwitterionic title compound, C(12)H(17)NO(3)S, is a reduced Schiff base derived from (S)-N-(2-hy-droxy-benzyl-idene)methio-nine. An intra-molecular inter-action between the N-H and carboxyl-ate groups forms a roughly planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.1405 Å) five-membered ring containing the H(N), N, Cα, C(carboxyl-ate) and O atoms in a penta-gonal conformation. In the crystal, a supra-molecular triangle-shaped motif is generated by mol-ecules held together by O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Abstract
A novel Zn-Ni heterotrinuclear Schiff base compound bearing acacen(2-) moieties was constructed through the selective assembly of a chemosensor Schiff base zinc compound with a Ni(2+) ion. Its crystal structure not only clearly explains the binding mode between the chemosensor molecule and the detected metal ion but also represents the first trinuclear complex based on a symmetric acacen(2-) base Schiff base.
