Abstract
The dehydrogenative aryl C-H/N-H cross-coupling is a powerful synthetic methodology to install nitrogen functionalities into aromatic compounds. Herein, we report an electrochemical oxidation induced intermolecular cross-coupling between aromatics and sulfonimides with high regioselectivity through N-radical addition pathway under external-oxidant-free and catalyst-free conditions. A wide variety of arenes, heteroarenes, alkenes and sulfonimides are applicable scaffolds in this transformation. In addition, aryl sulfonamides or amines (aniline derivatives) can be obtained through different deprotection process. The cyclic voltammetry mechanistic study indicates that the N-centered imidyl radicals are generated via proton-coupled electron transfer event jointly mediated by tetrabutylammonium acetate and anode oxidation process. The dehydrogenative C-H/N-H cross-coupling serves to install nitrogen functionalities into arenes with the highest atom economy. Here, the authors report an electrochemical cross-coupling between aromatics and sulfonimides through an N-radical addition pathway under oxidant- and catalyst-free conditions.

Abstract
Direct α-phosphonylation of an unprotected secondary amine in a single step is of practical importance to amino phophophates. However, this protocol is limited due to the high redox barrier of unprotected amine. In this paper, we report C-H phosphonylation of an unprotected secondary amine via an electrochemical approach in the presence of catalytic carboxylate salt. This metal-free and exogenous oxidant-free method furnishes diverse target molecules with satisfactory yield under mild reaction conditions. Successful application of the protocol in a gram-scale experiment demonstrates the potential utility for further functionalization.

Abstract
An eco-friendly method for the synthesis of β-alkoxy sulfones via electrochemical alkoxysulfonylation reaction of styrenes with sodium sulfinates as sulfonyl sources has been established. The reaction is conducted in an undivided cell at room temperature and tolerates a wide scope of styrenes, sodium sulfinates, and alcohols. The reaction does not need any chemical oxidants and transition-metal catalysts, which provides a new and green access to β-alkoxy sulfones.

Abstract
Electrochemical 1,2-hydroxydifluoromethylation and C-H difluoromethylation of acrylamides were developed by using CF2 HSO2 NHNHBoc as the source of the CF2 H group. These electricity-powered oxidative alkene functionalization reactions do not need transition-metal catalysts or chemical oxidants. The reaction outcome, 1,2-difuntionalization or C-H functionalization, is determined by the substituents on the amide nitrogen atom of the acrylamides instead of by the reaction conditions.

Abstract
Photo-/electrochemical catalyzed oxidative R1-H/R2-H cross-coupling with hydrogen evolution has become an increasingly important issue for molecular synthesis. The dream of construction of C-C/C-X bonds from readily available C-H/X-H with release of H2 can be facilely achieved without external chemical oxidants, providing a greener model for chemical bond formation. Given the great influence of these reactions in organic chemistry, we give a summary of the state of the art in oxidative R1-H/R2-H cross-coupling with hydrogen evolution via photo/electrochemistry, and we hope this review will stimulate the development of a greener synthetic strategy in the near future.

Abstract
Electrochemical hydrogenation has emerged as an environmentally benign and operationally simple alternative to traditional catalytic reduction of organic compounds. Here, we have disclosed for the first time the electrochemical hydrogenation of alkynes to a library of synthetically important Z-alkenes under mild conditions with great selectivity and efficiency. The deuterium and control experiments of electrochemical hydrogenation suggest that the hydrogen source comes from the solvent, supporting electrolyte, and base. The scanning electron microscopy and x-ray diffraction experiments demonstrate that palladium nanoparticles generated in the electrochemical reaction act as a chemisorbed hydrogen carrier. Moreover, complete reduction of alkynes to saturated alkanes can be achieved through slightly modified conditions. Furthermore, a series of novel mechanofluorochromic materials have been efficiently constructed with this protocol that showed blue-shifted mechanochromism. This discovery represents the first example of cis-olefins-based organic mechanochromic materials.

Abstract
Difunctionalization of olefins represents a powerful synthetic tool and yet a challenging task. This work describes an electrochemically enabled fluoroalkylation-migration reaction of unactivated olefins in the absence of a strong oxidant or heavy metal catalyst, affording fluorinated (hetero)aryl ketones in good yields and excellent regioselectivities. The efficient and sustainable electrochemical strategy provides a rapid access to a dual functionalized fluorine-containing heterocyclic manifold.

Abstract
In oxidative electrochemical organic synthesis, radical intermediates are often oxidized to cations on the way to final product formation. Herein, we describe an approach to transform electrochemically generated organic radical intermediates into neutral products by reaction with a metal catalyst. This approach combines electrochemical oxidation with Cu catalysis to effect formal aza-Wacker cyclization of internal alkenes. The Cu catalyst is essential for transforming secondary and primary alkyl radical intermediates into alkenes. A wide range of 5-membered N-heterocycles including oxazolidinone, imidazolidinone, thiazolidinone, pyrrolidinone, and isoindolinone can be prepared under mild conditions.

Abstract
Although the application of 1,2-dichloroethane (DCE) as a chlorinating reagent in organic synthesis with the concomitant release of vinyl chloride as a useful byproduct is a fantastic idea, it still presents a tremendous challenge and has not yet been achieved because of the harsh dehydrochlorination conditions and the sluggish C-H chlorination process. Here we report a bifunctional electrocatalysis strategy for the catalytic dehydrochlorination of DCE at the cathode simultaneously with anodic oxidative aromatic chlorination using the released HCl as the chloride source for the efficient synthesis of value-added (hetero)aryl chlorides. The mildness and practicality of the protocol was further demonstrated by the efficient late-stage chlorination of bioactive molecules.

Abstract
Organic halides (R-X) are prevalent structural motifs in pharmaceutical molecules and key building blocks for the synthesis of fine chemicals. Although a number of routes are available in the literature for the synthesis of organic halides, these methods often require stoichiometric additives or oxidants, metal catalysts, leaving or directing groups, or toxic halogenating agents. In addition, the necessity of employing different, often tailor-made, catalytic systems for each type of substrate also limits the applicability of these methods. Herein, we report a clean halogenation by electrochemical oxidation with NaX/HX. A series of organic halides were prepared under metal catalyst- and exogenous-oxidant-free reaction conditions. It is worth noting that this reaction has a broad substrate scope; various heteroarenes, arenes, alkenes, alkynes, and even aliphatic hydrocarbons could be applied. Most importantly, the reaction could also be performed on a 200-mmol scale with the same efficiency (86%, 50.9 g pure product). Metal catalyst free and exogenous oxidant free Commercially available, nontoxic, and green halogenating agents Broad substrate scope 200-mmol-scale synthesis

Abstract
2-Imidazolidinone and its analogues are omnipresent structural motifs of pharmaceuticals, natural products, chiral auxiliaries, and intermediates in organic syntheses. Over the years, continuous efforts have been addressed to the development of sustainable and more efficient protocols for the synthesis of these heterocycles. This review gives a summary of the catalytic strategies to access imidazolidin-2-ones and benzimidazolidin-2-ones that have appeared in the literature from 2010 to 2018. Particularly important contributions beyond the timespan will be mentioned. The review is organized in four main chapters that identify the most common approaches to imidazolidin-2-one derivatives: (1) the direct incorporation of the carbonyl group into 1,2-diamines, (2) the diamination of olefins, (3) the intramolecular hydroamination of linear urea derivatives and (4) aziridine ring expansion. Methods not included in this classification will be addressed in the miscellaneous section.

Abstract
Iridium-catalyzed electrochemical C-H activation was accomplished within a cooperative catalysis manifold, setting the stage for electrooxidative C-H alkenylations through weak O-coordination. The iridium-electrocatalyzed C-H activation featured high functional-group tolerance through assistance of a metal-free redox mediator through indirect electrolysis. Detailed mechanistic insights provided strong support for an organometallic C-H cleavage and a synergistic iridium(III/I)/redox catalyst regime, enabling the use of sustainable electricity as the terminal oxidant with improved selectivity features.
