Abstract
In general, Friedel-Crafts reaction is incompatible with amines due to the Lewis acidity of the catalysts. Recently, we reported that cyclic diaminocarbene-Gold(I) can be used as catalyst for the Friedel-Crafts alkylation between aromatic amines and alkenes. Herein, a systematically theoretical research was performed on this rare Friedel-Crafts reaction. The adopted calculation method is accurate enough to reproduce the crystal structure of the catalyst. It was found that the reactions followed the electrophilic aromatic substitution mechanism. The gold cation can activate the C=C double bond and generate the electrophilic group which can be attacked by the aromatic ring. The para-product is more energy favorable which agrees well with the experimental results. The reaction of α-methylstyrene follows the Markovnikov rule, and the activation energy to generate the branched product of methylstyrene is lower than that producing the linear product. However, the reaction of butanone follows the anti-Markovnikov rule, and the activation energy to generate the branched product of butanone is higher than that producing the linear product. These calculation results reveal the mechanism of this new Friedel-Crafts reaction. It can well explain the high para-selectivity and the substrate-dependent of the product structures in the experiment.

Abstract
The C-H addition of sulfides to alkenes is an atom-efficient route for the functionalization and modification of sulfide compounds through C-C bond formation, but this transformation is highly challenging. We report here the regioselective α-C(sp3)-H addition of a wide range of methyl sulfides to a variety of olefins and dienes by a half-sandwich scandium catalyst. This protocol provides a unique route for the synthesis of diverse sulfide derivatives through C-C bond formation at a sulfur-adjacent carbon atom in a 100% atom efficient fashion.

Abstract
Heteroatom-functionalized polyolefins are of fundamental interest and practical importance. This has spurred investigations of the copolymerization of polar and nonpolar olefins. We report the first syndiospecific polymerization of a series of heteroatom-containing α-olefins and their copolymerization with ethylene catalyzed by half-sandwich rare-earth complexes. We have found that the interaction between a heteroatom in a functional α-olefin monomer and a rare-earth metal catalyst can significantly raise the olefin polymerization activity and thereby promote its copolymerization with ethylene. By using this heteroatom-assisted olefin polymerization (HOP) strategy, we have successfully synthesized a series of heteroatom (O, S, Se, N, and P)-functionalized polyolefins with high molecular weights and controllable functional monomer contents. The mechanistic aspect of the HOP process has been elucidated by computational studies. We expect that our findings will guide the design of new catalyst systems for the synthesis of various desired functional polyolefins.

Abstract
A homoleptic scandium trialkyl complex in combination with a borate compound served as an excellent catalyst for the C-H addition of aliphatic tertiary amines to olefins. This highly regiospecific, 100% atom efficient C-H bond alkylation reaction was applicable to a wide variety of tertiary amines and olefins, including functionalised styrenes and unactivated α-olefins. This work represents the first example of rare-earth catalysed olefin hydroaminoalkylation and also the first example of catalytic C-H addition of aliphatic tertiary amines to olefins with any catalyst.
