Abstract
Absorption, photo- and electroluminescence spectra of some trityl substituted 1H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]quinolines derivatives (methyl- and phenyl substituted) and fabrication of the single layered organic light emitting diodes are reported. The bulky trityl substituent was introduced to prevent aggregation and crystallization of the dopant in polymer matrix. Role of ground state dipole moments in the observed red Stokes shift, electroluminescent features and photocarrier transport is explored. The maximally achieved brightness about 50Cd/m(2) is observed in the spectral range extending from 443nm up to 462nm. The voltage threshold was varied from 7.8V up to 10V. The brightness-current dependences show an existence of at least two types of carrier injections.

Abstract
The structural and electronic properties of fluorene-phenylene copolymer (FP)(n), n = 1-4 were studied by means of quantum chemical calculations based on density functional theory (DFT) and time dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) using B3LYP functional. Geometry optimizations of these oligomers were performed for the ground state and the lowest singlet excited state. It was found that (FP)(n) is nonplanar in its ground state while the electronic excitations lead to planarity in its S(1) state. Absorption and fluorescence energies were calculated using TD-B3LYP/SVP and TD-B3LYP/SVP+ methods. Vertical excitation energies and fluorescence energies were obtained by extrapolating these values to infinite chain length, resulting in extrapolated values for vertical excitation energy of 2.89 and 2.87 eV, respectively. The S(1) <-- S(0) electronic excitation is characterized as a highest occupied molecular orbital to lowest unoccupied molecular orbital transition and is distinguishing in terms of oscillator strength. Fluorescence energies of (FP)(n) calculated from TD-B3LYP/SVP and TD-B3LYP/SVP+ methods are 2.27 and 2.26 eV, respectively. Radiative lifetimes are predicted to be 0.55 and 0.51 ns for TD-B3LYP/SVP and TD-B3LYP/SVP+ calculations, respectively. These fundamental information are valuable data in designing and making of promising materials for LED materials.

Abstract
New photoluminescence oligoazomethines possessing both hole and electron-transporting units in the main chain were synthesized. Triphenylamine (TPA) was used as the electron-donating group, while 4,4'-diaminooctafluorobiphenyl, 4,4'-(hexafluoro-isopropylidene)dianiline, 4-aminophenylsulfone, 4,4'-(4,4'-isopropylidenediphenyl-1,1'diyldioxy)dianiline and 2,5-bis(4-aminophenyl)-1,3,5-oxadiazole were used as the electron-acceptor or as the electron-donating group. The bifunctional oligomers (D-pi-A and D-pi-D) were soluble in some organic solvents such as chloroform, DMA, HMPA, NMP and formed transparent films on glass support. All oligomers exhibit high glass transition temperature in the range of 188-227 degrees C as determined by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The photoluminescence (PL) emission maximum peaks of the oligomers in solution are in the range of 459-552 nm (2.70-2.25 eV) corresponding to blue, blue-green or green light. The solvatochromic and protonation behavior of the oligomers in two solvents (DMA, chloroform) were detected. Oligomers protonated with methanesulfonic acid (MSA) are hypsochromically shifted with respect to the PL spectra of the pristine oligomers measured in solution. Relative PL intensity of the oligomers investigated in chloroform solution was found in the range of 0.10-0.50%, while for protonated ones it was detected in the range of 33-50% in relation to 9,10-diphenylanthracene. Blends of the oligoazomethines with poly(methylmethacrylate) (PMMA) (0.1%, w/w) emitted blue light. Thin films were also doped with iodine. Calculated energy gap for the undoped films following the Tauc relation was in the range of 2.46-2.69 eV while for the iodine doped oligomers in the range of 1.76-2.38 eV was found.
