Abstract
The crystalline CoII coordination compound with empirical formula [Co(Hampy)2(H2O)4](SO4)2(H2O)3 (1); ampy = 4-aminomethylpyridine was obtained. The structure contains a mononuclear [Co(Hampy)2(H2O)4]4+ cation unit, two sulfate ions, and three lattice water molecules. The Co2+ cation shows an elongated octahedral geometry comprised of four oxygen atoms from water molecules at equatorial positions and two nitrogen atoms from Hampy ligands which are protonated at NH2. Each mononuclear cation unit is assembled by intermolecular hydrogen bonding and π–π stacking interactions by the coordinated and lattice water molecules, amino group, and sulfate anions to form a 3D supramolecular network. Investigations of the dynamic structural behaviour demonstrate that the title compound exhibits a solvent-induced reversible crystal-to-amorphous transformation with chromotropism when exposed to water and methanol vapour. This indicates that the dehydrated amorphous form, [Co(Hampy)2(SO4)2] 1A, may be utilised as an indicator for humidity and methanol vapour.

Abstract
A microporous Pb(II) metal-organic framework (MOF) [PbL(2)]·2DMF·6H(2)O (1) has been assembled from a N-oxide and amide doubly functionalized ligand HL (= N-(4-carboxyphenyl)isonicotinamide 1-oxide). Complex 1 features a three-dimensional (3D) framework possessing one-dimensional (1D) rhombic channels with dimensions of 13 × 13 Å(2). The 3D framework is built up from 1D PbO(2) chains that link ligands in parallel fashion to construct single-wall channels. When recrystallizing 1 in a DMSO-DMF mixture (3 : 5 v/v), a new coordination polymer, [PbL(2)]·DMF·2H(2)O (2), was obtained. Complex 2 is also a 3D framework containing 1D rectangular channels, but the channel dimensions become reduced in size to 13 × 8 Å(2) due to reorganization of the Pb(ii) coordination environment. The PbO(2) chains in 2 are reformed to link ligands in a double-wall fashion, significantly reducing the channel size. Even though, the guest exchange study indicates that the DMF molecules in 2 could be replaced with benzene molecules when immersing in benzene solvent, showing single-crystal-to-single-crystal (SC-SC) guest exchange in the solid state and leading to a daughter crystal [PbL(2)]·0.5C(6)H(6)·2H(2)O (2'). Desolvated 1 and 2 display preferential adsorption behaviors of water vapour over CO(2) due to the hydrophilic nature of the channels and the strong host-guest interactions. Catalytic tests indicate that desolvated 1 and 2 have size-selective catalytic activity towards the Knoevenagel condensation reaction.

Abstract
The magnetic properties of the porous metal-organic complex Co(bpy)(1.5)(NO(3))(2) (bpy = 4,4'-bipyridine), investigated by SQUID magnetometry, EPR and heat capacity measurements, are reported. The tongue-and-groove structure of this complex is formed by the assembly of T-shaped building blocks, where each Co is bound to three bpy ligands. Co(II) is hepta-coordinated by three N atoms from the bpy units, and four O atoms from two nitrate groups. Experimental results showed a large crystal field effect induced anisotropy with a zero field splitting of Δ = 198 K between the ground and excited Kramers doublets, a factor of two larger than previously reported values in Co(II) hepta-coordinated complexes. EPR revealed orthorhombic crystal field anisotropy, with gyromagnetic principal values of g(1)* = 6.1, g(2)* = 4.2 and g(3)* = 2.2, in an S* = 1/2 effective spin on the ground state Kramers doublet. Ab initio simulations allowed us to assign the anisotropy easy axis of magnetization to the binary symmetry axis of the molecule, aligned with the Co-N apical direction of the T-block.

Abstract
When the ligand 1,4,5-triazanaphthalene (abbreviated as tan) is reacted with Cu(II) BF(4)(-) and ClO(4)(-) salts, a variety of mononuclear compounds has been found, all with the [Cu(tan)(4)] unit and varying amounts of weakly coordinating axial ligands and lattice solvents. Reproducible compounds formed include two purple compounds, analyzing as [Cu(tan)(4)](ClO(4))(2)(CH(3)OH)(2)(H(2)O) (1) and [Cu(tan)(4)](BF(4))(2)(CH(3)OH)(1.5)(H(2)O) (3), and two blue compounds, analyzing as [Cu(tan)(4)](ClO(4))(2)(H(2)O)(2) (2) and [Cu(tan)(4)](2)(BF(4))(2)(H(2)O)(2) (4). Upon standing at room temperature, red-coloured, mixed-valence dinuclear-based 3D coordination polymers are formed by conversion of the purple/blue products, of which [Cu(2)(tan)(4)](n)(BF(4))(3n) (5) and the isomorphic methanol-water adduct [Cu(tan)(4)](n)(BF(4))(3n)(CH(3)OH)(n)(H(2)O)(5n) (5A) are presented in this paper. In addition a fully reduced dinuclear Cu(I) compound of formula [Cu(2)(tan)(3)(ClO(4))(2)] (7) has been observed, and structurally characterized, as a rare three-blade propeller structure, with a Cu-Cu distance of 2.504 Å.
