Abstract
The reactivity of ferrocene-based N-heterocyclic tetrylenes [{Fe(η5 -C5 H4 -NSitBuMe2 )2 }E] (E=Ge, Sn, Pb) towards mesityl azide (MesN3 ) is compared with that of PPh2 -functionalised congeners exhibiting two possible reaction sites, namely the EII and PIII atom. For E=Ge and Sn the reaction occurs at the EII atom, leading to the formation of N2 and an EIV =NMes unit. The germanimines are sufficiently stable for isolation. The stannanimines furnish follow-up products, either by [2+3] cycloaddition with MesN3 or, in the PPh2 -substituted case, by NMes transfer from the SnIV to the PIII atom. Whereas [{Fe(η5 -C5 H4 -NSitBuMe2 )2 }Pb] and other diaminoplumbylenes studied are inert even under forcing conditions, the PPh2 -substituted congener forms an addition product with MesN3 , thus showing a behaviour similar to that of frustrated Lewis pairs. The germylenes of this study afford copper(I) complexes with CuCl, including the first structurally characterised linear dicoordinate halogenido complex [CuX(L)] with a heavier tetrylene ligand L.

Abstract
The reactivity of the geminal frustrated Lewis pair (FLP) (F5 C2 )3 SnCH2 P(tBu)2 (1) was explored by reacting it with a variety of small molecules (PhOCN, PhNCS, PhCCH, tBuCCH, H3 CC(O)CH=CH2 , Ph[C(O)]2 Ph, PhN=NPh and Me3 SiCHN2 ), featuring polar or non-polar multiple bonds and/or represent α,β-unsaturated systems. While most adducts are formed readily, the binding of azobenzene requires UV-induced photoisomerization, which results in the highly selective complexation of cis-azobenzene. In the case of benzil, the reaction does not lead to the expected 1,2- or 1,4-addition products, but to the non-stereoselective (tBu)2 PCH2 -transfer to a prochiral keto function of benzil. All adducts of 1 were characterised by means of multinuclear NMR spectroscopy, elemental analyses and X-ray diffraction experiments.

Abstract
The geminal frustrated Lewis pair (FLP) tBu2 PCH2 BPh2 (1) reacts with phenyl-, mesityl-, and tert-butyl azide affording, respectively, six, five, and four-membered rings as isolable products. DFT calculations revealed that the formation of all products proceeds via the six-membered ring structure, which is thermally stable with an N-phenyl group, but rearranges when sterically more encumbered Mes-N3 and tBu-N3 are used. The reaction of 1 with Me3 Si-N3 is believed to follow the same course, yet subsequent N2 elimination occurs to afford a four-membered heterocycle (5), which can be considered as a formal FLP-trimethylsilylnitrene adduct. Compound 5 reacts with hydrochloric acid or tetramethylammonium fluoride and showed frustrated Lewis pair reactivity towards phenylisocyanate.

Abstract
An Al/P-based frustrated Lewis pair (FLP) reacted with PhMgCl by an unexpected transmetalation and formation of a phosphinylvinyl Grignard reagent. This compound is well suited for the transfer of the basic FLP component to other Lewis acidic metal atoms and allowed the generation of a Ga/P and an In/P2 FLP. The Ga FLP showed a behavior different to that of the corresponding Al FLP, the In FLP allowed the chelating coordination of an Au atom by Au-Cl bond activation.

Abstract
The dimesitylphosphinocyclopentene/HB(C6 F5 )2 -derived vicinal trans-1,2-P/B frustrated Lewis pair (FLP) 4 shows no direct phosphane-borane interaction. Toward some reagents it behaves similar to an intermolecular FLP; it cleaves dihydrogen, deprotonates terminal alkynes, and adds to organic carbonyl compounds including CO2 . It shows typical intramolecular FLP reaction modes (cooperative 1,1-additions) to mesityl azide, to carbon monoxide, and to NO. The latter reaction yields a persistent P/B FLPNO nitroxide radical, which undergoes H-atom abstraction reactions. The FLP 4 serves as a template for the CO reduction by [HB(C6 F5 )2 ] to generate a FLP-η2 -formylborane. The formylborane moiety is removed from the FLP template by reaction with pyridine to yield a genuine pyridine stabilized formylborane that undergoes characteristic borane carbaldehyde reactions (Wittig olefination, imine formation). Most new products were characterized by X-ray diffraction.

Abstract
Metal-free systems, including frustrated Lewis pairs (FLPs) have been shown to bind CO2. By reducing the Lewis acidity and basicity of the ambiphilic system, it is possible to generate active catalysts for the deoxygenative hydroboration of carbon dioxide to methanol derivatives with conversion rates comparable to those of transition-metal-based catalysts.

Abstract
The intramolecular cyclohexylene-bridged P/B frustrated Lewis pair [Mes(2)P-C(6)H(10)-B(C(6)F(5))(2)] 1b reacts rapidly with NO to give the persistent FLP-NO aminoxyl radical 2b formed by P/B addition to the nitrogen atom of NO. This species was fully characterized by X-ray diffraction, EPR and UV/vis spectroscopies, C,H,N elemental analysis, and DFT calculations. The reactive oxygen-centered radical 2b undergoes a H-atom abstraction (HAA) reaction with 1,4-cyclohexadiene to give the diamagnetic FLP-NOH product 3b. FLP-NO 2b reacts with toluene at 70 °C in an HAA/radical capture sequence to give a 1:1 mixture of FLP-NOH 3b and FLP-NO-CH(2)Ph 4b, both characterized by X-ray diffraction. Structurally related FLPs [Mes(2)P-CHR(1)-CHR(2)-B(C(6)F(5))(2)] 1c, 1d, and 1e react analogously with NO to give the respective persistent FLP-NO radicals 2c, 2d, and 2e, respectively, which show similar HAA and O-functionalization reactions. The FLP-NO-CHMePh 6b derived from 1-bromoethylbenzene undergoes NO-C bond cleavage at 120 °C with an activation energy of E(a) = 35(2) kcal/mol. Species 6b induces the controlled nitroxide-mediated radical polymerization (NMP) of styrene at 130 °C to give polystyrene with a polydispersity index of 1.3. The FLP-NO systems represent a new family of aminoxyl radicals that are easily available by N,N-cycloaddition of C(2)-bridged intramolecular P/B frustrated Lewis pairs to nitric oxide.
