Abstract
A series of heterometallic tetranuclear clusters, Ln2Ni2(NO3)4L4(μ3-OCH3)2·2(CH3CN) (Ln = Gd(1), Tb(2), Dy(3), Ho(4), Er(5); HL = methyl 3-methoxysalicylate), were synthesized solvothermally. The intramolecular synergistic effect of two metal centers of Ln(III) and Ni(II) and the exposed multimetallic sites serving as Lewis acid activators greatly increase the efficiency of the CO2 conversion, and the yield for cluster 3 can be achieved at 96% at atmospheric pressure and low temperature. In particular, the self-assembly multimetal center with polydentate ligand shows good generality and enhanced recyclability. The design of such 3d-4f heterometallic clusters provides an effective strategy for the conversion of CO2 under greener conditions. Meanwhile, magnetic investigations indicate that cluster 1 is a good candidate for magnetic refrigerant materials with a relatively large magnetocaloric effect (MCE) (-ΔSm = 28.5 J kg-1 K-1 at 3.0 K and 7.0 T), and cluster 3 shows single-molecular magnet behavior under zero dc field. Heterometallic clusters with special magnetic properties and good catalytic behavior for the conversion of CO2 are rare. Thus, they are potential bifunctional materials applied in practice.

Abstract
The use of 2-pyridyl oximes in metal complexes chemistry has been extensively investigated in the last few decades as a fruitful source of species with interesting magnetic properties. In this work, the initial combination of pyridine-2-amidoxime (pyaoxH2) and 2-methyl pyridyl ketoxime (mpkoH) with isonicotinic acid (HINA) and 3,5-pyrazole dicarboxylic acid (H3pdc) has provided access to three new compounds, [Ni4(INA)2(pyaox)2(pyaoxH)2(DMF)2] (1), [Co5(mpko)6(mpkoH)2(OMe)2(H2O)](ClO4)6 (2), and [Co5(OH)(Hpdc)5(H2pdc)] (3). 1 displays a square-planar metal topology, being the first example that bears simultaneously HINA and pyaoxH2 in their neutral or ionic form. The neighbouring Ni4 units in 1 are held together through strong intermolecular hydrogen bonding interactions, forming a three-dimensional supramolecular framework. 2 and 3 are mixed-valent Co4IIICoII and Co2IIICoII3 compounds with a bowtie and trigonal bipyramidal metal topology, accordingly. Direct current and alternate current magnetic susceptibility studies revealed that the exchange interactions between the NiII ions in 1 are ferromagnetic (J = 1.79(4) cm-1), while 2 exhibits weak AC signals in the presence of a magnetic field. The syntheses, crystal structures, and magnetic properties of 1-3 are discussed in detail.

Abstract
The reaction of the Schiff base ligand o-OH-C6H4-CH=N-C(CH2OH)3, H4L, with Ni(O2CMe)2∙4H2O and lanthanide nitrate salts in a 4:2:1 ratio lead to the formation of the trinuclear complexes [Ni2Ln(H3L)4(O2CMe)2](NO3) (Ln = Dy (1), Ho (2), and Y (3)) which crystallize in the non-centrosymmetric space group Pna21. The complex cation consists of the three metal ions in an almost linear arrangement. The {Ni2Ln} moieties are bridged through two deprotonated Ophenolato groups from two different ligands. Each terminal NiII ion is bound to two ligands through their Ophenolato, the Nimino atoms and one of the protonated Oalkoxo groups in a distorted octahedral. The central lanthanide ion is coordinated to four Ophenolato oxygen from the four ligands, and four Ocarboxylato atoms from two acetates which are bound in the bidentate chelate mode, and the coordination polyhedron is biaugmented trigonal prism, which probably results in a non-centrosymmetric arrangement of the complexes in the lattice. The magnetic properties of 1–3 were studied and showed that 1 exhibits field induced slow magnetic relaxation.

Abstract
Magnetic cooling at low temperature has attracted intensive interest in cryogenics research, which may become important as cooling medium for long-wave photon detectors to support space exploration. Here, we report a Gd-based quaternary magnetic refrigerant material, Gd5 BSi2 O13 , containing chains of face-shared GdO9 polyhedra and geometrically frustrated OGd3 triangles. Magnetic measurements indicate that Gd5 BSi2 O13 exhibits a large magnetocaloric effect (MCE) about 1.74 times that of the practical magnetic refrigerant GGG (-ΔSm =67.0 J kg-1 K-1 ). We analyzed the origin of the large MCE by comparing GdIII -containing compounds with different structures and concentrations of GdIII .

Abstract
The reaction of 2-methoxy-6-[{2-(2-hydroxyethylamino)ethylimino}methyl] phenol (LH3) with lanthanide metal salts followed by the addition of nickel acetate allowed isolation of a family of octanuclear complexes, [Ni4Ln4(μ2-OH)2(μ3-OH)4(μ-OOCCH3)8(LH2)4]·(OH)2·xH2O. Single crystal X-ray diffraction studies of these complexes reveal that their central metallic core consists of two tetranuclear [Ni2Ln2O4] cubane subunits fused together by acetate and hydroxide bridges. The magnetic study of these complexes reveals a ferromagnetic interaction between the LnIII and the NiII center. The magnitude of exchange coupling between the NiII and LnIII center, parametrized from the magnetic data of the Gd analogue, gives J = +0.86 cm-1. The magneto caloric effect, studied for the NiII 4GdIII 4 complex, shows a maximum of magnetic entropy change, -ΔS m = 22.58 J kg-1 K-1 at 3 K for an applied external field of 5 T.

Abstract
Through adjustment of the pH value of the reaction system, two series of 3 D lanthanide(III)-copper(I) coordination polymers, namely [Ln2 (na)7 Cu6 Br5 (H2 O)2 ] [Ln=La (1), Ce (2), Pr (3), Nd (4), Sm (5), Eu (6), Gd (7), Tb (8)] and [La2 (na)7 Cu3 Br2 (H2 O)2 ]⋅H2 O (9) (na- =nicotinate), are synthesized hydrothermally and characterized fully. It is worth nothing that these two series of heterometallic compounds are constructed from similar ladder-like Ln-organic chains, but different copper(I) halide clusters. The luminescence properties of the compounds with Nd (4), Eu (6), and Tb (8) are also investigated.
