Abstract
Topology significantly impacts polymer properties and applications. Hyperbranched polymers (HBPs) synthesized via atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) using inimers typically exhibit broad molecular weight distributions and limited control over branching. Alternatively, copolymerization of inibramers (IB), such as α-chloro/bromo acrylates with vinyl monomers, yields HBPs with precise and uniform branching. Herein, we described the synthesis of hydrophilic HB polyacrylates in water by copolymerizing a water-soluble IB, oligo(ethylene oxide) methyl ether 2-bromoacrylate (OEOBA), with various hydrophilic acrylate comonomers. Visible-light-mediated controlled radical branching polymerization (CRBP) with dual catalysis using eosin Y (EY) and copper complexes resulted in HBPs with various molecular weights (M n = 38 000 to 170 000) and degrees of branching (2%-24%). Furthermore, the optimized conditions enabled the successful application of the OEOBA to synthesize linear-hyperbranched block copolymers and hyperbranched polymer protein hybrids (HB-PPH), demonstrating its potential to advance the synthesis of complex macromolecular architecture under environmentally benign conditions. Copolymerization of hydrophilic methacrylate monomer, oligo(ethylene oxide) methyl ether methacrylate (OEOMA500), and inibramer OEOBA was accompanied by fragmentation via β-carbon C-C bond scission and subsequent growth of polymer chains from the fragments. Furthermore, computational studies investigating the fragmentation depending on the IB and comonomer structure supported the experimental observations. This work expands the toolkit of water-soluble inibramers for CRBP and highlights the critical influence of the inibramer structure on reaction outcomes.

Abstract
The practical synthesis of structurally controlled hyperbranched polymers (HBPs) by organotellurium-mediated radical polymerization (TERP) in water under emulsion conditions is reported. Copolymerization of vinyltelluride named evolmer, which induces controlled branch structure, and acrylates with TERP chain transfer agent (CTA) in water afforded HBPs having dendron structure. The molecular weight, dispersity, branch number, and branch length of the HBPs were controlled by changing the amount of CTA, evolmer, and acrylate monomers. HB-poly(butyl acrylate)s (HBPBAs) with up to the 8th generation having an average of 255 branches were successfully synthesized. As the monomer conversion reached nearly quantitative and the obtained polymer particles were well dispersed in water, the method is highly suitable for synthesizing topological block polymers, block polymers consisting of different topologies. Thus, linear-block-HB, HB-block-linear, and HB-block-HB-PBAs with the controlled structure were successfully synthesized by adding the second monomer(s) to the macro-CTA. The intrinsic viscosity of the resulting homo- and topological block PBAs was systematically controlled by the degree of the branch, the branch length, and the topology. Therefore, the method opens the possibility of obtaining various HBPs with diverse branch structures and tuning the polymer properties by the polymer topology.

Abstract
Hyperbranched polymethacrylates were synthesized by green-light-induced atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) under biologically relevant conditions in the open air. Sodium 2-bromoacrylate (SBA) was prepared in situ from commercially available 2-bromoacrylic acid and used as a water-soluble inibramer to induce branching during the copolymerization of methacrylate monomers. As a result, well-defined branched polymethacrylates were obtained in less than 30 min with predetermined molecular weights (36 000<Mn <170 000), tunable degree of branching, and low dispersity values (1.14≤Đ≤1.33). Moreover, the use of SBA inibramer enabled the synthesis of bioconjugates with a well-controlled branched architecture.

Abstract
N-alkylated aromatic poly- and oligoamides are a particular class of abiotic foldamers that is deprived of the capability of forming intramolecular hydrogen-bonding networks to stabilize their tri-dimensional structure. The alkylation of the backbone amide nitrogen atoms greatly increases the chemical diversity accessible for aromatic poly- and oligoamides. However, the nature and the conformational preferences of the N,N-disubstituted amides profoundly modify the folding properties of these aromatic poly- and oligoamides. In this Review, representative members of this class of aromatic poly- and oligoamides will be highlighted, among them N-alkylated phenylene terephthalamides, benzanilides, pyridylamides, and aminomethyl benzamide oligomers. The principal synthetic pathways to the main classes of N-alkylated aromatic polyamides with narrow to broad molecular-weight distribution, or oligoamides with specific sequences, will be detailed and their foldameric properties will be discussed. The Review will end by describing the few applications reported to date and future prospects for the field.

Well-defined thermally polymerizable hyperbranched polymers (TPA–BZs) containing various numbers of triphenylamine (TPA) and benzoxazine (BZ) units have been prepared using a “click-like” reaction concept, through one-pot Mannich condensations of 4-(bis(4-aminophenyl)amino)phenol (TPA–2NH2–OH, as the AB2 branching groups), aniline (as the focal groups), CH2O, and phenol in 1,4-dioxane, with a unique feeding approach. Two design strategies for the chemical construction were applied: (i) simple hyperbranched TPA–BZs, such as those containing one or three TPA units, developed from the focal or the terminal group direction to form the resultant monomers; (ii) three dendritic TPA–BZs containing four TPA units possessing different degrees of branching (DBs) for the conformation study. The exothermic temperature for the dendritic TPA–BZs decreased upon increasing the DB. The bathochromic shifts of the dendritic TPA–BZs increased upon increasing the number of TPA units, in UV-Vis absorption and PL emission spectra, presumably because of an increase in the effective conjugation length. In addition, the polymerized dendritic TPA–BZ DG1 possessed thermal properties superior to those of the hyperbranched TPA–BZ polybenzoxazines, possibly because the segmental mobility in the polymer network was restricted by the dendrimer core group and because of its symmetrical construction. The hyperbranched TPA–BZ possessed unique photophysical properties, suggesting potential applications in optoelectronic devices. Different well-defined benzoxazine/triphenylamine based hyperbranched polymers with controlled degree of branching were prepared and discussed.![]()

Abstract
Hyperbranched polymers (HBPs) have attracted significant attention because of their characteristic topological structure associated with their unique physical properties compared with those of the corresponding linear polymers. Dendrimers are the most structurally controlled HBPs, but the necessity of a stepwise synthesis significantly limits their applications in materials science. Several methods have been developed to synthesize HBPs by a one-step procedure, as exemplified by the use of AB2 monomers and AB' inimers under condensation and self-condensing vinyl polymerization conditions. However, none of these methods provides structurally controlled HBPs over the three-dimensional (3D) structure, i.e., molecular weight, dispersity, number of branching points, branching density, and chain-end functionalities, except under special conditions. Here, we introduce a monomer design concept involving two functional groups with hierarchical reactivity and demonstrate the controlled synthesis of dendritic HBPs over the 3D structure by the copolymerization of the designed monomer and acrylates under living radical polymerization conditions.

Abstract
We synthesized a series of copolybenzamides (PBA) through chain-growth condensation polymerization (CGCP) of 4-(octylamino)benzoate (M4OB) and methyl 3-(4-(octyloxy)benzylamino) benzoate (M3OOB) co-monomers. Well-defined copolybenzamides with close to theoretical molecular weights (Mn ≈ 10,000⁻13,000) and narrow molecular weight distributions (Mw/Mn < 1.40) were obtained. Selective removals of the protecting group (i.e., 4-(octyloxy)benzyl group) from the affording P(M3OOB-co-M4OB) copolybenzamides were subsequently performed to obtain P(M3NH-co-M4OB) copolymers. These novel N-H-containing copolybenzamides (named as PNHBA) can not only provide hydrogen bonds for polymer-polymer blends but also have good solubility in organic solvents. Miscibility of the PNHBA and Nylon 6 blends was investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), FT-IR, contact angle analysis, transmission electron microscope (TEM), and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA). This study illustrates a novel type of copolybenzamide with controlled molecular weight and narrow molecular weight distribution through an effective synthetic strategy, and can be applied to a practical blend of Nylon 6 with good miscibility.
