Abstract
The organocatalytic approach to the formation of silatranyl cages permitted the design of a solvent-free and efficient protocol for the preparation of various organosilatranes. We discovered that amidine derivatives efficiently catalyze the conversion of trialkoxysilanes into organosilatranes, and their catalytic activity is related to the pKBH+ values. NMR studies of equimolar reactions of 1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undec-7-ene (DBU) and 1,5,7-triazabicyclo[4.4.0]dec-5-ene (TBD) with selected substrates allowed proposing a reliable scheme for the transesterification process and silatranyl cage formation. In addition, green chemistry metrics for the scaled-up synthesis of vinylsilatrane (3k) were appointed. Finally, a scheme for the industrial production of silatrane derivatives with DBU and solvent regeneration was proposed, supported by a catalyst recycling experiment.

Abstract
The excess anthropogenic CO2 depletion via the catalytic approach to produce valuable chemicals is an industrially challenging, demanding, and encouraging strategy for CO2 fixation. Herein, we demonstrate a selective one-pot strategy for CO2 fixation into "oxazolidinone" by employing stable porous trimetallic oxide foam (PTOF) as a new catalyst. The PTOF catalyst was synthesized by a solution combustion method using transition metals Cu, Co, and Ni and systematically characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), N2 sorption, temperature-programmed desorption (TPD), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis. Due to the distinctive synthesis method and unique combination of metal oxides and their percentage, the PTOF catalyst displayed highly interconnected porous channels along with uniformly distributed active sites on its surface. Well ahead, the PTOF catalyst was screened for the fixation of CO2 into oxazolidinone. The screened and optimized reaction parameters revealed that the PTOF catalyst showed highly efficient and selective activity with 100% conversion of aniline along with 96% selectivity and yield toward the oxazolidinone product at mild and solvent-free reaction conditions. The superiority of the catalytic performance could be due to the presence of surface active sites and acid-base cooperative synergistic properties of the mixed metal oxides. A doubly synergistic plausible reaction mechanism was proposed for the oxazolidinone synthesis experimentally with the support of DFT calculations along with bond lengths, bond angles, and binding energies. In addition, stepwise intermediate formations with the free energy profile were also proposed. Also, the PTOF catalyst displayed good tolerance toward substituted aromatic amines and terminal epoxides for the fixation of CO2 into oxazolidinones. Very interestingly, the PTOF catalyst could be significantly reused for up to 15 consecutive cycles with stable activity and retention in physicochemical properties.

Abstract
Isothiocyanates are ubiquitous building blocks used across the fields. Nevertheless, their classical syntheses very often rely on the use of toxic and expensive reagents. Herein, we report a new practical, mild, high-yielding, and supporting-electrolyte-free electrochemical method for the preparation of aliphatic and aromatic isothiocyanates from amine and carbon disulfide.

Abstract
Herein, we have developed a rhodium-catalyzed C-H functionalization and subsequent intramolecular ring-opening/cyclization of vinylene carbonate with 2-pyrrolyl/indolylanilines, which leads to oxazolidinones in moderate to good yields. In this transformation, vinylene carbonate only eliminates one oxygen atom rather than -CO3 or CO2. Furthermore, some control experiments are conducted to elucidate the reaction mechanism.

Abstract
Bioactive compound 3-aryl-2-oxazolidinone could be synthesized by a green method mixing carbon dioxide, aniline, and ethylene oxide. Our group previously proposed a parallel mechanism for this conversion catalyzed by ionic liquids. Recently, a new study on a similar reaction system of styrene oxide, carbon dioxide, and aniline under the catalysis of K3PO4 gave a different serial mechanism. In order to explore the mechanism of reaction, we conducted a combined theoretical and experimental study on a one-pot conversion of styrene oxide, carbon dioxide, and aniline. In experiments, two isomer products, 3,5-diphenyl-l,3-oxazolidin-2-one and 3,4-diphenyl-l,3-oxazolidin-2-one, were observed. The computational results show that the parallel mechanism is more favored in thermodynamics and in kinetics due to the instability of isocyanate and hardness of its generation. Hence, we believe the previous parallel mechanism is more reasonable under our catalysts and conditions.

Abstract
An ionic liquid, namely [Betaine][H2PO4], was found to be an efficient catalyst for the direct substitution reaction of xanthen-9-ol with different nucleophiles under solvent-free conditions. This catalytic system is easy to be operated and the following work-up procedure is simple, with the ionic liquid catalyst reusable for at least five cycles at a high catalytic activity level. In addition, the ionic liquid is easy to prepare and its raw materials are inexpensive and have good biocompatibility. Therefore, our study presents an intriguing and sustainable protocol for the direct substitution of alcohol.

Abstract
A series of bifunctional phase-transfer catalysts (PTCs) were synthesized to catalyze the [3 + 2] coupling reaction of isocyanates and epoxides to afford 2-oxazolidinones in good to high yields (up to 92% yield) using PhCl as a solvent at 100 °C within 12 h. These bifunctional PTCs were easily prepared from commercially available tertiary-primary diamines and isocyanates (or isothiocyanates, mono-squaramides, respectively) in two simple steps with good modularity and demonstrated high efficiency (2.5 mol% catalyst-loading). The synergistic interaction of the quaternary ammonium salt center and hydrogen-bond donor group in the catalyst with the substrate is crucial to this atom-economic reaction.

Abstract
In this article, 20 ns molecular dynamic (MD) simulations and density functional theory (DFT) were used to investigate the absorption of CO2 molecules by some functionalized 1,8-diazabicyclo[5,4,0]-udec-7-ene (DBU)-based ILs. According to the MD results, the highest coordination number for NC is observed in the case of [DBUH+][Im-], which indicates that the functionalization of the imidazole anion by different alkyl groups decreases the interaction ability of the anion with CO2 molecules. The addition of water molecules to the ILs decreases the ability of the anion to interact with CO2 because of the hydrogen bond formation between the imidazole anions and water. Two different paths were proposed for CO2 absorption by the ILs, and the effect of alkyl groups on the kinetics and thermodynamics of the reaction was analyzed by using the M06-2X functional at the 6-311++G(d,p) level of theory in the gas phase and water. On the basis of the results, CO2 absorption is more favorable in [DBUH+][Im-], thermodynamically. Kinetic parameters show that the alkylation of the imidazole anion by ethyl, propyl, iso-propyl, and phenyl groups decreases the rate of CO2 absorption, because of the steric and electron-withdrawing effect of different alkyl groups. In the presence of water molecules, the lowest activation Gibbs energy is related to [DBUH+][Im-], which confirms the greater ability of this IL in CO2 absorption.

Abstract
A novel heterogeneous catalyst, the ionic liquid (IL) of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate (BmimOAc) immobilized on MIL-101-NH2, denoted as IL(OAc-)-MIL-101-NH2, was prepared by the "ship-in-a-bottle" strategy. The IL of BmimOAc was prepared in the MIL-101-NH2 nanocages primordially, in which the condensation product of MIL-101-NH2's amine group with 1,1'-carbonyldiimidazole (CDI) reacted with 1-bromo butane, and then the intermediate exchanged with potassium acetate. The structure and physicochemical properties of IL(OAc-)-MIL-101-NH2 were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, DRS UV-vis, nitrogen adsorption-desorption, and elemental analysis. The results indicated that BmimOAc was anchored in the MIL-101-NH2 skeleton via the acylamino group and confined in the nanocages in the form of a single molecule. The composite material of IL(OAc-)-MIL-101-NH2 exhibited excellent catalytic activity and catalytically synthesized 3-aryl-2-oxazolone in an excellent yield of 92%. It can be reused up to six times without noteworthy loss of its activity and demonstrated distinct size-selective property for substrates. It was conjectured that the diffusion kinetics of reactants could be controlled by the aperture size of the metal-organic framework support.

Abstract
This review is an attempt to give an overview on the recent advances and developments in the synthesis of 2-oxazolidinone frameworks through carbon dioxide (CO2) fixation reactions under solvent-free conditions. The cycloaddition of CO2 to aziridine derivatives is discussed first. This is followed by carboxylative cyclization of N-propargylamines with CO2 and three-component coupling of epoxides, amines, and CO2. Finally, cycloaddition of CO2 to propargylic alcohols and amines will be covered at the end of the review. The literature has been surveyed up until the end of 2018. Abstract
An electrostatically enhanced phenol as a simple and competent bifunctional organocatalyst for the atom-economical conversion of epoxides to cyclic carbonates under environmentally benign conditions is described. Incorporating a positively charged center into phenols through a modular one-step synthesis results in a bifunctional system with enhanced acidity and reactivity, capable of epoxide activation, a halide nucleophilic ring-opening process, and CO2 incorporation in a synergistic fashion. A rational survey of the efficiency of different positively charged phenols and the influence of different parameters, such as temperature, catalyst loading, and the nature of the nucleophile, on catalytic activity was conducted. In addition, the time-dependent conversion of epoxide into the corresponding cyclic carbonate was further explored by FTIR-ATR and 1 H NMR spectroscopy. This bifunctional catalytic platform is among one of the mildest and most efficient metal-free systems that is capable of converting a variety of epoxides into cyclic carbonates under virtually ambient conditions. The 1 H NMR titration experiment validated the bifunctional catalytic mechanism wherein both the epoxide activation and the nucleophilic ring-opening process occur in concert en route to carbon dioxide fixation.

Abstract
Preparation of a range of oxazolidinones, including enantioenriched N-aryl-substituted oxazolidinones, in which tetraarylphosphonium salts (TAPS) catalyze the [3 + 2] coupling reaction of isocyanates and epoxides effectively, is described. The key finding is a Brønsted acid/halide ion bifunctional catalyst that can accelerate epoxide ring opening with high regioselectivity. Mechanistic studies disclosed that the ylide generated from TAPS, along with the formation of halohydrins, plays a crucial role in the reaction with isocyanates.
