Abstract
Cephanolides A-D are cephalotane-type diterpenoids featuring a novel 6/6/6/5 tetracyclic core embedded with a bridged δ-lactone. The asymmetric and divergent total syntheses of cephanolides A-D have been accomplished, proceeding in 11-14 steps from a known alcohol. The salient features of the present work include (i) a substrate-controlled diastereoselective intermolecular Diels-Alder reaction to form the 6-6 cis-fused rings, (ii) a palladium-catalyzed formal bimolecular [2 + 2 + 2] cycloaddition reaction via a partially intermolecular cascade reaction sequence involving multiple carbometalations to rapidly install the key tetracyclic skeleton, and (iii) lactonization and late-stage oxidative diversification to complete total syntheses of the four benzenoid cephanolides.

Abstract
3-Deoxyfortalpinoid F, fortalpinoid A, and cephinoid H are members of the Cephalotaxus diterpenoids class of natural products, which feature diverse chemical structures and valuable biological activities. We report herein the development of a diastereoselective Pauson-Khand reaction as an effective pathway to access the core tetracyclic skeleton, which is found widely in Cephalotaxus diterpenoids. Furthermore, we enabled the construction of the tropone moiety through a ring-closing metathesis/elimination protocol. Based on the developed strategy, asymmetric synthesis of the title compounds has been achieved for the first time.

Abstract
A highly efficient enantioselective [1,3] O-to-C rearrangement of racemic vinyl ethers that operates under mild conditions was developed. This method with chiral ferrous complex catalyst provided an efficient access to a wide range of chromanols with high yields and excellent enantioselectivities. In addition, an important urological drug (R)-tolterodine and others were easily obtained after simple transformations.

Abstract
Spiro[imidazol-5-one-4,1'-cyclopropanes] behave as donor-acceptor (D-A) cyclopropanes in a formal cycloaddition reaction with aldehydes. The activation of such type of cyclopropanes is achieved with an equivalent of Brønsted acid. The reaction proceeds in high yields of 51-92% and demonstrates moderate diastereoselectivity at the quaternary stereocenter, which is determined by the electron-donating nature of the aldehyde partner. The ease of separation of stereoisomers allowed the creation of a library of 44 spiroannulated tetrahydrofurans with various substitution patterns.

Abstract
Rearrangement reactions have attracted considerable interest over the past decades due to their high bond-forming efficiency and atom economy in the construction of complex organic architectures. In contrast to the well-established [3,3]-rearrangement, [1,3] O-to-C rearrangement has been far less vigorously investigated, and stereospecific [1,3]-rearrangement is extremely rare. Here, we report a metal-free intramolecular hydroalkoxylation/[1,3]-rearrangement, leading to the practical and atom-economical assembly of various valuable medium-sized lactams with wide substrate scope and excellent diastereoselectivity. Moreover, such an asymmetric cascade cyclization has also been realized by chiral Brønsted acid-catalyzed kinetic resolution. In addition, biological tests reveal that some of these medium-sized lactams displayed their bioactivity as antitumor agents against melanoma cells, esophageal cancer cells and breast cancer cells. A mechanistic rationale for the reaction is further supported by control experiments and theoretical calculations. Stereospecific [1,3]-rearrangements are rarely reported method to efficiently build complex organic architectures. Here, the authors describe a metal-free intramolecular hydroalkoxylation/[1,3]-rearrangement sequence affording medium-sized lactams with wide scope, also in an asymmetric fashion.

Abstract
Gold is currently one of the most used metals in organometallic catalysis. The ability of gold to activate unsaturated groups in different modes, together with its tolerance to a wide range of functional groups and reaction conditions, turns gold-based complexes into efficient and highly sought after catalysts. Natural products and relevant compounds with biological and pharmaceutical activity are often characterized by complex molecular structures. (Cyclo)isomerization reactions are often a useful strategy for the generation of this molecular complexity from synthetically accessible reactants. In this review, we collect the most recent contributions in which gold(I)- and/or gold(III)-catalysts mediate intramolecular (cyclo)isomerization transformations of unsaturated species, which commonly feature allene or alkyne motifs, and organize them depending on the substrate and the reaction type.

Abstract
An unprecedented catalytic asymmetric [1,3] O-to-C rearrangement of alkyl 2-allyloxy/benzyloxy-1/3-naphthoates was realized under the catalysis of a chiral π-Cu(ii) complex (1-10 mol%). This dearomatization strategy provides facile access to highly functionalized β-naphthalenone derivatives bearing an all-carbon quaternary stereogenic center in high yield with excellent enantioselectivity. The π-cation interaction between the aromatic substituent of the ligand and the Cu(ii) center was proved by X-ray diffraction analysis and shown to be crucial for enantioselective control. Further preliminary mechanistic studies suggest that this intramolecular reaction proceeds through a contact ion pair intermediate.
