Abstract
Provision of infection security in transplantology and transfusiology is a challenging and significant problem that depends on the quality of medical donor selection and laboratory diagnosis of the blood collected. At present, a large number of blood-borne viruses are known; nevertheless, in Russia, the list of viral agents to be tested during the examination by the blood service boils down to three ones: HIV, hepatitis C and hepatitis B viruses. The review article demonstrates the need for implementation of additional laboratory tests for the agents of the priority healthcare-associated blood-borne infections (HAI) using a risk-based approach, i.e., on specified sites and in high risk groups. It presents a methodology for determination of a quantitative blood-induced infection residual risk (BIRR) index to be used while evaluating the efficiency of viral security provision in the blood service.

Abstract
Torque teno virus (TTV) is the most common component of the human blood virobiota. Little is known, however, about the prevalence of TTV in humans and the most common farm domesticates in Jordan, or the history and modality of TTV transmission across species lines. We therefore tested sera from 396 Jordanians and 171 farm animals for the presence of TTV DNA using nested 5'-UTR-PCR. We then performed phylogenetic, ordination and evolutionary diversity analyses on detected DNA sequences. We detected a very high prevalence of TTV in Jordanians (~96%); much higher than in farm animal domesticates (~29% pooled over species). TTV prevalence in the human participants is not associated with geography, demography or physical attributes. Phylogenetic, ordination and evolutionary diversity analyses indicated that TTV is transmitted readily between humans across the geography of the country and between various species of animal domesticates. However, the majority of animal TTV isolates seem to derive from a single human-to-animal transmission event in the past, and current human-animal transmission in either direction is relatively rare. In conclusion, animal TTV in Jordan is historically derived from human variants; however, ongoing human-animal TTV exchange is minimal and zoonotic infection seems to be of limited importance.

Abstract
The Anelloviridae comprises single-stranded DNA viruses currently grouped in sixty-eight species classified in twelve genera. They have been found in many vertebrate hosts including primates. In this study, we describe the application of the high-throughput sequencing to examine the frequency and diversity of anelloviruses in rodents, bats and opossums captured in São Paulo State, Brazil. We report a total of twenty-six anelloviruses with sixteen nearly complete genomes and ten partial genomes, which include eleven potential novel species identified in rodents (Cricetidae), bats (Molossidae and Phyllostomidae), and opossums (Didelphidae). We also propose the inclusion of two potential new genera within the Anelloviridae family, provisionally named Omegatorquevirus and Sigmatorquevirus, including six and three novel species of anelloviruses, respectively. In summary, this study expands the diversity and the host range of the known anelloviruses.

Abstract
The torque teno virus (TTV) is a recently discovered DNA virus that has been detected in many different hosts, including humans, livestock and poultry. To date, there is no report of pigeon TTV (PTTV) from anywhere in the world. To investigate the distribution of PTTV in pigeons from the eastern Chinese province of Jiangsu and characterize their genomes, we employed PCR to detect PTTV in 144 samples collected from 6 pigeon plants in Jiangsu province, amplify complete genomes from representative samples and analyze genetic characteristics using bioinformatics. The results demonstrated that 71.5% (103/144) of samples were PTTV positive. The rate of sequence homology among the six PTTV complete genomes obtained from Jiangsu province ranged from 99.7% to 100%. Phylogenetic analysis suggested that PTTV genomes had a high degree of genetic similarity and were similar to chicken anemia virus that also had poultry as a host. Although with the same host, PTTV shared distant relationship with PiCV in both complete genome, Rep and Cap genes. The results of this study provided evidence that PTTV could be detected in Chinese pigeons at a high level, the evolutionary process of complete genome, Rep and Cap genes of Anelloviridae family had obvious divergence.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The prevalence of infection with hepatitis B virus (HBV), hepatitis C virus (HCV), hepatitis G virus (HGV), and transfusion-transmitted viruses (TTV) was evaluated in patients with impacted teeth or jaw deformities. STUDY DESIGN Of 486 patients, 268 had serum samples available for retrospective TTV DNA and HGV RNA assays. In addition, the sera of 404 patients were assayed for HB surface antigen and the sera of 340 were assayed for HCV antibody. RESULTS HGV RNA was detected in 3 of 268 patients (1.1%), and TTV DNA was detected in 60 of 268 (22.4%). Of 404 patients, 3 had HB surface antigens (0.7%). Furthermore, 13 of 340 were HCV-seropositive (3.8%). The rate of infection was similar between patients with impacted teeth and those with jaw deformities, respectively, as follows: 1.1% versus 0%, respectively, for HBV prevalence; 4.1% versus 3.2% for HCV prevalence; 1.8% versus 0% for HGV prevalence; and 22.9% versus 21.4% for TTV prevalence. CONCLUSIONS Universal precautions to prevent hepatitis and TTV infection during oral surgical procedures are important.

Abstract
PURPOSE OF THE REVIEW The list of possible hepatotropic viruses continues to grow with the discovery of the GB virus-C, the TT virus and the SEN virus. There is emerging data on the biology of these newly discovered :In spite of continuing research into the pathogenicity of the GB virus-C and the TT virus, definite evidence linking them to acute or chronic liver disease is lacking. The SEN virus was reported in 2000, and although there seems to be an association between virus and transfusion-related hepatitis, more data are awaited before definite conclusions can be drawn. The effect of GB virus-C, the TT virus and the SEN virus co-infection on other viral and non-viral hepatitides has also been studied in some detail. Again, there is no definite evidence so far that these viruses modify other liver diseases. SUMMARY At the present time, diagnostic testing for these viruses does not seem to be warranted outside of clinical studies. The discovery of these viruses, however, paves the way for further research into novel viral agents that infect humans, other among hosts.
