Facilitating Hot Electron Injection from Graphene to Semiconductor by Rectifying Contact for Vis-NIR-Driven H2 O2 Production

Mott-Schottky Construction Boosted Plasmon Thermal and Electronic Effects on the Ag/CoV-LDH Nanohybrids for Highly-Efficient Water Oxidation

Mott-Schottky construction and plasmon excitation represent two highly-efficient and closely-linked coping strategies to the high energy loss of oxygen evolution reaction (OER), but the combined effect has rarely been investigated. Herein, with Ag nanoparticles as electronic structure regulator and plasmon exciter, Ag/CoV-LDH@G nanohybrids (NHs) with Mott-Schottky heterojunction and notable plasmon effect are well-designed. Combining theoretical calculations with experiments, it is found that the Mott-Schottky construction modulates the Fermi level/energy band structure of CoV-LDH, which in turn leads to lowered d-band center (from -0.89 to -0.93), OER energy barrier (from 6.78 to 1.31 eV), and preeminent plasmon thermal/electronic effects. The thermal effect can offset the endothermic enthalpy change of OER, promote the deprotonation of *OOH, and accelerate electron transfer kinetics. Whereas the electronic effect can increase the density of charge carriers (from 0.70 × 1020 to 1.64 × 1020 cm-3), lower the activation energy of OER (from 30.3 to 17.7 kJ mol-1). Benefiting from these favorable factors, the Ag/CoV-LDH@G NHs show remarkable electrocatalytic performances, with an overpotential of 178 and 263 mV to afford 10 and 100 mA cm-2 for OER, respectively, and a low cell voltage of 1.42 V to drive 10 mA cm-2 for overall water splitting under near-infrared light irradiation.

Hierarchical Ohmic Contact Interface Engineering for Efficient Hydrazine-Assisted Hydrogen Evolution Reaction

Hydrazine oxidation reaction coupled with hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) is an effective strategy to achieve low energy water splitting for hydrogen production. In order to realize the application of hydrazine-assisted HER system, researchers have been focusing on the development of electrocatalysts with integrated dual active sites, while the performance under high current density is still unsatisfying. In this work, hierarchical Ohmic contact interface engineering is designed and used as a bridge between the NiMo and Ni2 P heterojunction toward industrial current density applications, with the charge transfer impedance greatly eliminated via such a pathway with low energy barrier. As a proof-of-concept, the importance of charge redistribution and energy barrier at the Ohmic contact interface is investigated by significantly reducing the voltage of overall hydrazine splitting (OHzS) at high current density. Intriguingly, the NiMo/Ni2 P hierarchical Ohmic contact heterojunction can drive current densities of 100 and 500 mA cm-2 with only 181 and 343 mV cell voltage in the OHzS electrolyzer with high electrocatalytic stability. The proposed hierarchical Ohmic contact interface engineering paves new avenue for hydrogen production with low energy consumption.

Regulation of Redox Molecular Junctions in Covalent Organic Frameworks for H2 O2 Photosynthesis Coupled with Biomass Valorization

H2 O2 photosynthesis coupled with biomass valorization can not only maximize the energy utilization but also realize the production of value-added products. Here, a series of COFs (i.e. Cu3 -BT-COF, Cu3 -pT-COF and TFP-BT-COF) with regulated redox molecular junctions have been prepared to study H2 O2 photosynthesis coupled with furfuryl alcohol (FFA) photo-oxidation to furoic acid (FA). The FA generation efficiency of Cu3 -BT-COF was found to be 575 mM g-1 (conversion ≈100 % and selectivity >99 %) and the H2 O2 production rate can reach up to 187 000 μM g-1 , which is much higher than Cu3 -pT-COF, TFP-BT-COF and its monomers. As shown by theoretical calculations, the covalent coupling of the Cu cluster and the thiazole group can promote charge transfer, substrate activation and FFA dehydrogenation, thus boosting both the kinetics of H2 O2 production and FFA photo-oxidation to increase the efficiency. This is the first report about COFs for H2 O2 photosynthesis coupled with biomass valorization, which might facilitate the exploration of porous-crystalline catalysts in this field.

C, F co-doping Ag/TiO2 with visible light photocatalytic performance toward degrading Rhodamine B

The organic pollutants in industrial wastewater continuously endanger human health. Therefore, effective treatment of organic pollutants is very urgent. Photocatalytic degradation technology is an excellent solution to remove it. TiO₂ photocatalysts are easy to prepare and have high catalytic activity, unfortunately, TiO₂ only absorbs ultraviolet light limiting its utilization of visible light. In this study, a facile environmentally friendly synthesis of Ag-coated on micro-wrinkled TiO₂-based catalysts in order to extend the absorption of Visible light. Firstly, a fluorinated titanium dioxide precursor was prepared by a one-step solvothermal method, and the precursor was calcined at high temperature in a nitrogen atmosphere to form a carbon dopant, and then a surface silver-deposited carbon/fluorine co-doped TiO₂ photocatalyst C/F-Ag-TiO₂ was prepared by a hydrothermal method The results showed that the Ag was coated on the wrinkled TiO₂ layer and C/F-Ag-TiO₂ photocatalyst was synthetized successfully. Benefit from the synergistic effect of doped carbon and fluorine atoms in combination with the quantum size effect of the surface silver nanoparticles, the band gap energy of C/F-Ag-TiO₂ (2.56 eV) is obviously lower than anatase (3.2eV). The photocatalyst achieved an impressive degradation rate of 84.2% for Rhodamine B in 4 h, with a degradation rate constant of 0.367 h^-1, which was 17 times higher than that of P25 under visible light. Therefore, the C/F-Ag-TiO₂ composite is a promising candidate as a highly efficient photocatalyst for environmental remediation.
