Abstract
INTRODUCTION Knee degenerative processes, such as osteoarthritis, are disabling. An early intervention is generally more effective making important a timely diagnosis. A pre-diagnosis tool could be the thermal camera that allows the detection of joint inflammation. Consequently, the objective of the present study was to evaluate the literature and propose a thermal attention threshold for infrared thermography data in people with knee osteoarthritis. METHODS four electronic databases were searched with specific keywords until the 25th of March 2024. Only original articles about joint inflammation due to osteoarthritis evaluated through digital infrared thermal images were included. A quality assessment analysis was performed. The attention threshold was extracted through the median of the extracted data. The findings were narratively discussed. RESULTS A total of 9 studies have been included after the eligibility criteria selection. The studies presented some differences in terms of acquisition protocol, thermal imaging camera, data extrapolation, and analysis. Despite these differences, the studies presented similar thermal data. CONCLUSION A knee thermography of or above 31.3 °C could indicate osteoarthritis, highlighting the necessity of further, more specific, and accurate analysis.

Abstract
Whole-body vibration (WBV) is a training modality, and it seems to be a safe and efficient exercise especially to improve different aspects of physical fitness in different populations. The protocols for WBV are still not standardized. The difficulty in comparing the data confuses the real efficacy of this instrument. Consequently, the objective of this umbrella review is to analyze the protocols previously adopted and eventually to propose a standard operating procedure for WBV training. Systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials on WBV were searched on the electronic databases PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus until 18 March 2024. A quality assessment of the studies included has been performed. A total of 20 studies were included in this umbrella review and frequency, magnitude, and amplitude intensity data were recorded. Detailed information about the protocols (static or dynamic exercises, barefoot or with shoes, intensity duration, weekly frequency, and vibration characteristics) was also collected. WBV presents widely different protocols. Consequently, a standard operating procedure has not been proposed for WBV training. A hypothesis of intervention was instead written in which parameters for frequency, amplitude, acceleration, and training mode were proposed.

Abstract
Multiple sclerosis is a disease that concerns a growing number of people, especially females. There are different interventions proposed for this population, and physical activity is one of them. A proper and well-structured physical activity program can be a cheap, feasible, and practical instrument to help this population improve their quality of life. Consequently, the present study aimed to analyze, through an umbrella review, published articles to evaluate the protocols and the effect of intervention on different types of multiple sclerosis and eventually to propose a standardized intervention for this population. Systematic reviews and meta-analyses of randomized controlled trials on multiple sclerosis and physical activity effects were searched for on the electronic databases PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus up to 22 December 2022. The quality of the studies included was determined and the results were narratively analyzed. The included studies present heterogeneity in the population, in the study design and protocols, and in the outcomes evaluated. Most of the studies detected positive outcomes on the physical function of people with multiple sclerosis. This study highlights the necessity of future studies on a population with similar characteristics, adopting similar protocols to evaluate their feasibility and validity to make physical intervention prescribed as a medicine.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Wheelchair fencing (WF) is a very practiced sport within the Paralympic world. A careful analysis of the characteristics and data of a WF athlete can be useful for coaches and movement experts to better plan a training program. The objective of the study was to evaluate physical fitness assessment methods adopted in WF and to propose a standard operating procedures (SOP). EVIDENCE ACQUISITION Original articles written in English were included in this review, and the population studied was composed of athletes who practiced WF. Studies were searched from PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus databases using keywords and Boolean operators. Eight studies were included in this review. EVIDENCE SYNTHESIS Most of the studies converge and agree on the physical, physiological, and technical characteristics of a WF athlete. CONCLUSIONS The scientific literature referring to this sport is very scarce, hence the need for new original studies to optimize the SOP proposed.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Sitting volleyball is a widely practiced paralympic sport. A correct and standardized physical evaluation helps coaches to plan and manage the training. It is also important to evaluate physical fitness accurately and adopt standardized protocols to compare and normalize the data. The aim of the study was to evaluate physical fitness evaluation methods adopted in sitting volleyball and to eventually propose standard operating procedures. EVIDENCE ACQUISITION English-written and peer-reviewed original articles were included in this review. The population studied was composed only of athletes practicing sitting volleyball. Articles were searched on the electronic databases PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus using keywords matched with Boolean operators. Two independent investigators collected and screened the studies against the eligibility criteria. Data were analyzed narratively. EVIDENCE SYNTHESIS Only 7 studies were eligible and included in this review, but a wide testing methodology exists. There are some tests commonly adopted in the studies included and these are the handgrip test, the agility t-test, the speed, and endurance test. These tests with the 2-site skinfold thickness evaluation, the modified push-ups, the shoulder-stretch test, the chest throw test and the simple reaction time task were included in the standard operating procedure. CONCLUSIONS The literature on the topic is poor and standardization of the testing procedure to evaluate the physical fitness of people practicing SV has been provided.

Abstract
Physiological aging triggers a cascade of negative effects on the human body and the human joint is only one of the several compartments affected by this irreversible and natural process. Osteoarthritis and cartilage degeneration can cause pain and disability; therefore, identifying the molecular processes underlying these phenomena and the biomarkers produced during physical activity is of critical importance. In the present review, the main goal was to identify and discuss the articular cartilage biomarkers analyzed in studies in which physical or sports activities were adopted and eventually to propose a standard operating procedure for the assessment. Articles collected from Pubmed, Web of Science, and Scopus were scrutinized to detect reliable cartilage biomarkers. The principal articular cartilage biomarkers detected in these studies were cartilage oligomeric matrix protein, matrix metalloproteinases, interleukins, and carboxy-terminal telopeptide. The articular cartilage biomarkers identified in this scoping review may aid in a better comprehension of where research on the topic is heading and offer a viable instrument for streamlining investigations on cartilage biomarker discovery.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Adolescent and Juvenile Idiopathic Scoliosis are a three-dimensional spine deformity characterized by a muscle alteration of the convex and concave sides of the scoliosis, which can be evaluated with different non-invasive and radiation-free methods such as infrared thermography. The objective of the present review is to assess infrared thermography as a potential method to evaluate alterations of the scoliosis. MATERIALS AND METHODS A systematic review was performed by collecting articles from PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, and Google Scholar, published from 1990 to April 2022, on the use of infrared thermography to evaluate adolescent and juvenile idiopathic scoliosis. Relevant data were collected in tables, and the primary outcomes were discussed narratively. RESULTS Of the 587 articles selected, only 5 were in line with the objective of this systematic review and were eligible for the inclusion criteria. The findings of the selected articles corroborate the applicability of infrared thermography as an objective method to assess the thermal differences of the muscles between the convex and concave sides of scoliosis. The overall quality of the research was uneven in the reference standard method and assessment of measures. CONCLUSION Infrared thermography is providing promising results to discriminate thermal differences in scoliosis evaluation, albeit there are still some concerns about considering it as a diagnostic tool for scoliosis evaluation because specific recommendations for collecting data are not met. We propose additional recommendations to existing guidelines to perform thermal acquisition to reduce errors and provide the best results to the scientific community.

Abstract
Introduction Wheelchair basketball (WB) is a Paralympic sport ideated for people with motor disabilities, and the research on this topic still requires attention. It is fundamental to evaluate physical fitness characteristics with appropriate tests and standardized routines to plan and monitor the training. Considering that a standard operating procedure is a document that makes the test battery replicable, the objective of the present study was to review the literature on physical fitness assessment in WB players and to create a standard operating procedure. Methods Studies were collected from different databases, and after a screening process, data were discussed narratively. Results Only 18 articles met the eligibility criteria. The test batteries presented similarities in different studies. Abstract
(1) Background: Cartilage degeneration with the natural aging process and the role of physical activity on cartilage wellness is still not clear. The objective of the present review was to understand how different physical activity interventions affect the cartilage and to propose a Standard Operating Procedure for an exercise program to maintain knee joint health; (2) Methods: Articles were collected on three different electronic databases and screened against the eligibility criteria. Results were collected in tables and the main outcomes were discussed narratively; (3) Results: A total of 24 studies have been included after the screening process and aerobic, strength, flexibility, postural balance, and mobility interventions were detected. Different protocols and types of interventions were adopted by the authors; (4) Conclusions: Physical activity interventions have mainly positive outcomes on cartilage structure, but the protocols adopted are different and various. A Standard Operating Procedure has been proposed for a physical intervention focalized on cartilage wellness that could be adopted as an intervention in the clinical setting. Furthermore, the creation of a standardized protocol wants to help scientific research to move in the same direction.

Are Physically Active Breaks in School-Aged Children Performed Outdoors? A Systematic Review. SUSTAINABILITY 2022. Abstract
(1) Background: Children spend an ever-increasing amount of time performing sedentary behaviors, and an important part of their daily life is at school. Learning in an outdoor environment improves children’s physical activity levels, and their cognitive and social spheres. Furthermore, physically active breaks are a solution to reduce sedentary behaviors and improve well-being and academic performance. The study evaluated the published literature on physically active breaks during school hours and explored (a) if the interventions were proposed in an outdoor context and (b) the outcomes of these interventions. (2) Methods: This review collected 31,559 articles from different electronic databases. After the screening, the results were analyzed narratively. (3) Results: 41 studies have been included in the analysis. As reported by the results, most of the interventions took place in the classroom, and only three studies were performed outside. A common aspect of all studies is the feasibility of active breaks, assessing positive outcomes. (4) Conclusions: Physically active outdoor breaks are poorly adopted, highlighting the necessity for deeper study on this topic. Although the protocols considered present differences, generally breaks increase physical activity levels, present positive learning outcomes, and improve social well-being. Furthermore, they are sustainable in terms of time, cost, and effort of the teacher.

Abstract
Background: Education is the ideal setting for carrying out projects to improve primary students’ capacities. In recent years, interventions in natural environments have been more frequently proposed, but there is still a lack of standardization, making deeper study of the topic necessary. This review aims to report on what previous scientific research has been carried out, and eventually, to propose standard operating procedures for future interventions. Methods: This is a scoping review that adopted the PRISMA guidelines. Primary school children have been included, and the interventions had to be proposed adopting nature as the primary element of the learning process. Results: A total of 19 studies have been included, and a wide range of methodological differences has been detected regarding the included intervention protocols. Conclusions: Learning in nature is a feasible intervention that, despite the high heterogeneity of interventions, demonstrates positive outcomes in the learning sphere of children.

Abstract
Physically active children have greater motor competence and a faster maturation compared with their sedentary peers. Recent research also suggests that physical activity during childhood may also promote cognitive development and therefore improve academic performance. The aim of this study was to understand if physically active academic lessons may improve academic achievement in primary schoolchildren. A systematic review following the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines was conducted. The search was performed on the following database: PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, Education Resources Information Center (ERIC), and PsycINFO (APA). Studies evaluating schoolchildren aged between 3 and 11 years taking part in educational contexts that include physical activity and natural environments evaluating physical fitness and/or educational outcomes were included. A total of 54 studies (for a total sample of 29,460 schoolchildren) were considered eligible and included in the qualitative synthesis. The Effective Public Health Practice Project risk-of-bias assessment revealed a moderate quality of the included studies with only two considered weeks. Despite differences in the retrieved protocols, physically active academic lessons improve the total time engaged in physical activity, motor skills, and/or academic performance. The results of this review suggest that learning through movement is an effective, low-cost, and enjoyable strategy for elementary schoolchildren.
