Abstract
Despite the widespread utilizable value of 3-oxazolines, mild and efficient access to such a class of unique structures still remains, to date, a challenge. Herein, we present a [3 + 2] annulation strategy, guided by the retrosynthetic principle of [CO + CCN], that utilizes vinyl azides as the CCN module and aldehydes as the CO module. This approach enables the efficient construction of the 3-oxazoline framework with remarkable features, including operational simplicity, environmental friendliness, and high efficiency. Notably, it solely requires the addition of inexpensive and readily available N-hydroxyphthalimide (NHPI) and air oxygen to obtain the desired product. It also provides a new way to generate the hydroxyl radical, which is produced by the homolysis of peroxycarboxylic acid. In addition, control experiments, X-ray crystallographic analysis, high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS), and density functional theory (DFT) calculations afford evidence for the key intermediates (hydroxyl radical, carboxyl radical, imine radical, hydroxyl substituted amide derivatives), further confirming the path for realization of 3-oxazolines.

Abstract
Malaria remains a major vector borne disease claiming millions of lives worldwide due to infections caused by Plasmodium sp. Discovery and development of antimalarial drugs have previously been dominated majorly by single drug therapy. The malaria parasite has developed resistance against first line and second line antimalarial drugs used in the single drug therapy. This has drawn attention to find ways to alleviate the disease burden supplanted by combination therapy with multiple drugs to overcome drug resistance. Emergence of resistant strains even against the combination therapy has now mandated the revision of the current antimalarial pharmacotherapy. Research efforts of the past decade led to the discovery and identification of several new structural classes of antimalarial agents with improved biological attributes over the older ones. The following is a comprehensive review, addressed to the new structural classes of heterocyclic and natural compounds that have been identified during the last decade as antimalarial agents. Some of the classes included herein contain one or more pharmacophores amalgamated into a single bioactive scaffold as antimalarial agents, which act upon the conventional and novel targets.

Abstract
We have prepared novel highly functionalized benzene derivatives by regioselective metalation of ester-, amide-, carbamate-, and carbonate-substituted 2-phenyl-2-oxazolines with mixed lithium-magnesium amides followed by reaction with different electrophiles. While a complementary metalation site can be accessed by using different bases, steric and electronic effects promoted by the aromatic ring substituents also play an important role in reaction regioselectivity. Computational calculations of the aromatic hydrogen pKa values have helped us to rationalize the metalation preference by the complex-induced proximity effect concept.

Abstract
A novel rearrangement sequence of 3-hydroxyazetidines via a Ritter initiated cascade provides highly substituted 2-oxazolines in high yields. The reaction conditions and substrate scope of the transformation have been studied demonstrating the generality of the process. The derived products can also be functionalized in order to undergo further intramolecular cyclization leading to a new class of macrocycle. The final cyclization step was shown to be a transformation amenable to continuous flow processing allowing for a dramatic reduction in the reaction time and simple scale-up.

Abstract
The synthesis and characterisation (UV-Vis, IR, X-ray diffraction, etc.) of a series of Ni(ii) complexes derived from both known and novel 2-acylmethyl-2-oxazolines (2a-g: i.e., (Z)-1-R-2-(4,4'-dimethyl-2'-oxazolin-2'-yl)eth-1-en-1-ol; R = -Ph, -2-furanyl, -p-NO2-Ph, -t-Bu, -2-thiofuranyl, p-NC-Ph, -CF3) is reported. These Ni materials (3a-g) represent the first group 10 metal complexes of this ligand class. All derivatives reported are paramagnetic (S = 1) compounds of formulae Ni(κ2-N,O-L)2 where L represents an enolate of structure (Z)-1-R-2-(4',4'-dimethyl-2'-oxazolin-2'-yl)eth-1-en-1-ate formed via proton loss from 2. The air- and moisture-stable metal complexes feature a less typical distorted seesaw-shaped disposition of binding atoms around the metal centre for six structurally characterised (X-ray) examples. Preliminary investigations indicate that 3a (R = -Ph) is a useful catalysts for olefin polymerisation in the presence of alkylaluminum reagents.

Abstract
The upward extend of malaria collectively with the emergence of resistance against predictable drugs has put enormous pressure on public health systems to introduce new malaria treatments. Heterocycles play an important role in the design and discovery of new malaria active compounds. Heterocyclic compounds have attracted significant attention for malaria treatment because of simplicity of parallelization and the examining power with regard to chemical space. Introduction of a variety of heterocyclic compounds have enabled to maintain the high levels of antimalarial potency observed for other more lipophilic analogues whilst improving the solubility and the oral bioavailability in pre-clinical species. In this review, we present an overview of recent literature to provide imminent into the applications of different heterocyclic scaffolds in fighting against malaria.
