Abstract
The synthesis of a Cu4(OH)4 cube which is coordinated by four molecules of the dipyridyl ligand 1,6-[di(pyridin-4-yl)hex-3-ene] is reported. This compound has a trans double bond which restricts the conformational freedom of the ligand and favours coordination within a unique copper cube. The structure was solved by an X-Ray single crystal structure determination and low temperature magnetic susceptibility measurements examined its magnetic properties. The cube classification corresponds to the type I classification of Mergehenn and Haase and the short/long distribution of Cu ⋅⋅⋅ Cu separations in the cube as defined by Ruiz. The magnetic susceptibility measurements show paramagnetic behaviour down to 50 K but below this the copper cube shows weak ferromagnetic exchange interactions. The low temperature magnetic susceptibility characteristics are examined in detail then modelled and compared to other similar Cu4O4 copper cubes.

Abstract
Reaction of copper(II) acetate with 1,1′-[(2,2-dimethylpropane-1,3-diyl)bis(nitrilomethylidyne)]-di-2-naphthol (H2L) gave the diphenoxido-bridged binuclear copper(II) complex [Cu2L2]. Its crystal structure shows a slightly distorted square pyramidal geometry around both of the copper(II) ions. In the symmetric Cu2O2 core, each of the phenoxido bridges occupies an equatorial position around one of the copper(II) centres. A broken symmetry (BS) computation based on density functional theory (DFT) evaluated the magnetic interaction in the complex using the (U)B3LYP level of theory in association with the basis sets LANL2DZ for the copper atoms and 6-31G** for the other atoms. The calculations showed ferromagnetic interaction between the two magnetic copper(II) centres with a magnetic coupling constant (J) of 1.16 cm−1.

Abstract
Abstract
The reported compound, {Na2[Cu4(HCOO)2(pa)4(CH3OH)] · CH3OH}
n
(1, H2pa = 2-(hydroxyimino)propionic acid), is a sodium salt of an anionic coordination polymer, comprising rare-topology tetranuclear cluster units, linked through Cu–O bonds to form a polymeric chain. Each cluster unit comprises four Cu2+ cations, chelating 2-(oxyimino)propionate ligands, two formate ligands and one terminal methanol ligand. The neighbouring polymeric chains contact through O–H…O hydrogen bonds and are interconnected by Na–O coordination bonds to form a three-dimensional network.
