Facile synthesis of multi-layer Co(OH) 2/CeO 2-g-C 3N 4 ternary synergistic heterostructure for efficient photocatalytic oxidation of NO under visible light. Abstract
In this work, we report a one-step synthesis of ternary Z-scheme Co(OH)2/CeO2-g-C3N4 (CoCe-CN) heterostructure via hydrothermal method. Owing to the modification of Co(OH)2 and CeO2, the existence of Co(OH)2 as an electron acceptor-donor center between CeO2 and g-C3N4 accelerates the electron transfer and provides extra OH- reaction pathway for photocatalytic oxidation of NO. As a result, 50CoCe-CN (Co and Ce accounting for 25% mass ratio separately) achieved a 53.5% conversion efficiency of NO at 600 ppb concentration, which is 1.82 times that of g-C3N4 under visible light. The results of the DFT analysis and element distribution of cobalt and ceria provide convincing evidence supporting the existence of a novel multi-layer structure in the CoCe-CN photocatalyst. This structure involves the loading of CeO2 and Co(OH)2 on the g-C3N4 surface, and Co(OH)2 as a co-catalyst introduced between CeO2 and g-C3N4 realizes the synergy between CeO2 and Co(OH)2 which further improve the photocatalytic properties. The higher photocatalytic efficiencies observed in the CoCe-CN photocatalysts compared to those containing only cobalt (Co-CN) or ceria (Ce-CN) provide further evidence of the synergistic effect of these two elements. This work demonstrates a more efficient and effective ternary photocatalytic system, with greater practical potential for photocatalytic oxidation of NO.

Abstract
Nano silver (Ag) was metallic Ag monomers with particle size to the nanoscale. Photocatalyst was a kind of semiconductor material with photocatalytic function. Loading precious metal Ag onto semiconductor surfaces by microwave, laser-induced, solvent-thermal and hydrothermal methods could capture photogenerated electrons, reduced the compounding rate of holes and photogenerated electrons during the photocatalytic process, thereby improving the electron transfer efficiency of photocatalysis and enhancing the absorption of visible light by silver nanoparticles through the plasma resonance effect. The highly reactive free radicals produced by photocatalysts were used in the organic degradation process to degrade organic matter into inorganic matter and was a faster, more efficient and less polluting method of pollutant degradation, which has attracted a lot of attention from researchers. This review discussed the modification of various types of photocatalysts by nano Ag through different methods. The photocatalytic degradation of dyes, antibiotics and persistent organic pollutants by different modified composites was also analyzed. This review covered the several ways and means in which nano Ag has modified diverse photocatalytic materials as well as the photocatalytic degradation of dyes, antibiotics and persistent organic pollutants. This review identified the drawbacks of the existing nano Ag-modified photocatalytic materials, including their low yield and lack of recyclability, and it also offered suggestions for potential future directions for their improvement. The purpose of this review was to further research on the technology of nano Ag-modified photocatalytic materials and to encourage the creation of new modified photocatalytic nanomaterials for the treatment of organic pollutant degradation.

Abstract
The shocking increase of resistant dye pollutants in the environment and their harmful effects has become a potential threat to the ecosystem. In the current work, the novel and highly efficient potato-on-rod-like Z-scheme plasmon Ag2CrO4-Ag2Mo2O7 heterojunction nano-photocatalyst was synthesized by precipitation method to photodegrade different organic dyes under artificial sunlight. The required analysises were carried out to characterize nanophotocatalysts. FESEM and TEM results showed the placement way of potato-like Ag2CrO4 between/on rod-like Ag2Mo2O7 which was leading to suitable structure and surface morphology. Besides, the morphology observations released the meso-/macroporous potato-on-rod like architecture self-assembled by nanoparticles. DRS analysis also confirmed two band gap energies of 2.55 and 1.72 eV in Ag2CrO4-Ag2Mo2O7 (3:1) resulting from forming a heterojunction structure and the plasmon Ag. Ag2CrO4-Ag2Mo2O7 (3:1) nanophotocatalyst exhibited the most remarkable activity in the photodegradation of 10 mg/L 2-naphthol orange (97.8%), 10 mg/L rhodamine B (99.7%), 10 mg/L crystal violet (98.9%), and 10 mg/L methyl orange (56.1%) with a catalyst dosage of 0.1 gr for about 90 min. The appropriate energy band gap, the formation of the heterostructure, the presence of meso (0.0038 cm3/g) and macro (0.0044 cm3/g) holes, and pore diameter at about 17.2 nm based on BET-BJH analysis that facilitated the penetration of pollutant molecules, increased pollutant adsorption and demonstrated stunning capability of efficient light harvesting, the reason was electron-hole pairs recombination rate reduction. Moreover, the fabricated samples showed tremendous catalyst constancy and reusability even after the fourth run. Results have shown the remarkable photocatalytic activity under visible light and provide an environment-friendly and green strategy to overcome the challenges of organic pollutants present in aqueous solutions.

Abstract
P-n heterojunction-structured CuFe2O4/MgFe2O4 hollow spheres with a diameter of 250 nm were synthesized using a template-free solvothermal method, and time-dependent morphological studies were carried out to investigate the hollow formation mechanism. The CuFe2O4/MgFe2O4 with a molar ratio of 1:2 (Cu:Mg) had the highest degradation efficiency with the model organic dye Acid Orange 7, with a degradation rate of 91.96% over 60 min. The synthesized CuFe2O4/MgFe2O4 nanocomposites were characterized by XRD, TEM, HRTEM, UV-vis spectroscopy, Mott–Schottky, and EIS. Due to the synthesis of the p-n heterojunction, CuFe2O4/MgFe2O4 has efficient photogenerated carriers, and the hollow structure has a higher specific surface area and stronger adsorption capacity, which is significantly better than that of CuFe2O4 and MgFe2O4 in terms of photocatalytic performance. The outstanding performance shows that the p-n heterostructure of CuFe2O4/MgFe2O4 has potential for application in wastewater degradation.

Abstract
A highly efficient MgBi2O6 (MBO)/TiO2 heterostructured photocatalyst for the evolution of H2 was successfully prepared using a one-step hydrothermal method. The phase structure, microstructure and optical properties of the MBO/TiO2 composites were investigated by various experimental techniques. A series of H2 production experiments were performed under visible light. The measured results indicated that the nanostructured MBO/TiO2 composite, with a stoichiometric molar ratio of MBO:TiO2 = 0.2%, displayed the best H2 production rate of 3413 μmol h−1 g−1. The excellent photocatalytic performance of the obtained composite material was due to the heterojunction formed between MBO and TiO2, which reduced the charge transfer resistance and accelerated the separation efficiency of the photogenerated electron–hole pairs. The reaction mechanism was also discussed in detail.

Abstract
MXene/Ag2CrO4 nanocomposite was synthesized effectively by means of superficial low-cost co-precipitation technique in order to inspect its capacitive storage potential for supercapacitors. MXene was etched from MAX powder and Ag2CrO4 spinel was synthesized by an easy sol-gel scheme. X-Ray diffraction (XRD) revealed an addition in inter-planar spacing from 4.7 Å to 6.2 Å while Ag2CrO4 nanoparticles diffused in form of clusters over MXene layers that had been explored by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Energy dispersive X-Ray (EDX) demonstrated the elemental analysis. Raman spectroscopy opens the gap between bonding structure of as-synthesized nanocomposite. From photoluminence (PL) spectra the energy band gap value 3.86 eV was estimated. Electrode properties were characterized by applying electrochemical observations such as cyclic voltammetry along with electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) for understanding redox mechanism and electron transfer rate constant Kapp. Additionally, this novel work will be an assessment to analyze the capacitive behavior of electrode in different electrolytes such as in acidic of 0.1 M H2SO4 has specific capacitance Csp = 525 F/g at 10 mVs−1 and much low value in basic of 1 M KOH electrolyte. This paper reflects the novel synthesis and applications of MXene/Ag2CrO4 nanocomposite electrode fabrication in energy storage devices such as supercapacitors.

Abstract
The production and demand of nanoparticles in the manufacturing sector and personal care products, release a large number of engineered nanoparticles (ENPs) into the atmosphere, aquatic ecosystems, and terrestrial environments. The intentional or involuntary incorporation of ENPs into the environment is carried out through different processes. The ENPs are combined with other compounds and release into the atmosphere, settling on the ground due to the water cycle or other atmospheric phenomena. In the case of aquatic ecosystems, the ENPs undergo hetero-aggregation and sedimentation, reaching different living organisms and flora, as well as groundwater. Accordingly, the high mobility of ENPs in diverse ecosystems is strongly related to physical, chemical, and biological processes. Recent studies have been focused on the toxicological effects of a wide variety of ENPs using different validated biological models. This literature review emphasizes the study of toxicological effects related to using the most common ENPs, specifically metal and metal/oxides-based nanoparticles, addressing different synthesis methodologies, applications, and toxicological evaluations. The results suggest negative impacts on biological models, such as oxidative stress, metabolic and locomotive toxicity, DNA replication dysfunction, and bioaccumulation. Finally, it was consulted the protocols for the control of risks, following the assessment and management process, as well as the classification system for technological alternatives and risk management measures of ENPs, which are useful for the transfer of technology and nanoparticles commercialization.

Abstract
A visible light self-powered photoelectrochemical (PEC) aptasensor based on silver chromate particles, graphitic carbon nitride nanosheets and graphene oxide sheets (Ag2CrO4/g-C3N4/GO) for the ultrasensitive detection of chloramphenicol (CAP) was reported in this work. g-C3N4 was considered to be the fundamental photoelectric material because of its great oxidation ability of photogenerated hole as well as excellent biocompatibility and low toxicity. However, the narrow light absorption range and rapid carrier recombination rate limit the application of pure g-C3N4. Herein, Ag2CrO4 and GO as photosensitizer were introduced to improve the photoelectric properties of g-C3N4. The photocurrent of the developed ternary composite was about 3 times higher than that of pristine g-C3N4, which proves it can be used as a suitable photoelectric active material. Moreover, the mechanism of Z-scheme electron transfer path was proved by density functional theory (DFT) calculation. The fabricated PEC aptasensor exhibited high sensitivity toward CAP with a wide liner response of 0.5 pM to 50 nM and a detection limit of 0.29 pM. The specific recognition mechanism and excellent sensing performance indicated this aptasensor could serve as a useful tool for selective and ultrasensitive CAP detection in practical analysis.

Abstract
Wound healing has long been recognised as a major clinical challenge for which stablishing more effective wound therapies is necessary. The generation of metallic nanocomposites using biological compounds is emerging as a new promising strategy for this purpose. In this study, four metallic nanoparticles (NPs) with propolis extract (Ext) and one without propolis including ZnO/Ext, ZnO/Ag/Ext, ZnO/CuO/Ext, ZnO/Ag/CuO/Ext and ZnO/W were prepared by microwave method and assessed for their wound healing activity on excision experimental model of wounds in rats. The developed nanocomposites have been characterised by physico-chemical methods such as X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, diffuse reflectance UV-vis spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller analyses. The wounded animals treated with the NPs/Ext in five groups for 18 days. Every 6 days, for measuring wound closure rate, three samples of each group were examined for histopathological analysis. The prepared tissue sections were investigated by haematoxylin and Eosin stainings for the formation of epidermis, dermis and muscular and Masson's trichrome staining for the formation of collagen fibres. These findings toughly support the probability of using this new ZnO/Ag/Ext materials dressing for a wound care performance with significant effect compared to other NPs.

Abstract
Hydrogen trititanate (H2Ti3O7·2H2O) and hydrogen trititanate/Ag2O hybrid nanocomposites (NCs) with novel structure have been synthesized by a simple solvothermal route followed by Na+/H+ ion-exchange. Growths of hydrogen trititanate with nanofiber (HTNF) and nanotube (HTNT) morphologies and hydrogen trititanate-Ag2O (HTFAG and HTTAG) nanocomposites have been tailored by controlling the solvent media. Detailed microstructure characterization of all these samples have been carried out by Rietveld refinement of XRD data and analyzing FESEM/HRTEM micrographs and FTIR spectra. Band gap energies of all these semiconducting samples are obtained from UV-Vis absorption spectra. Both HTFAG and HTTAG NCs exhibit enhanced photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutant (Congo red dye) under visible light, in comparison to HTNF and HTNT respectively due to the formation of a heterojunction between H2Ti3O7·2H2O and Ag2O, which is supported by photoluminescence spectroscopy. HTFAG and HTTAG NCs also show superior antibacterial activity against both gram-negative (Escherichia coli) and gram-positive (Bacillus subtilis) bacteria compared to their pure counterparts. MTT assay reflects a sufficiently high percentage of cell viability and confirms the significant cytocompatibility of all the samples.

Abstract
CeO2/Ag2CrO4 composite photocatalyst was successfully fabricated using electrospinning and calcination and chemical precipitation method based on CeO2 ribbon-like fibers and characterized by field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The as-obtained CeO2/Ag2CrO4 composite used photocatalytic performance in the sonophotodegradation of rhodamine B in aqueous solution under visible-light (LED) irradiation. DRS analysis illustrates that CeO2/Ag2CrO4 composite exhibited enhanced absorption in the visible region-attributed CeO2 nanofibers. The effect of four effective parameters including initial concentration of rhodamine B (RhB), photocatalyst dosage, pH, and irradiation time was studied and optimized using central composite design. The kinetic studies confirmed ability of pseudo first-order reaction based on the Langmuir-Hinshelwood model for fitting empirical data, while its rate constant (kobs), L-H rate constants (kr), and L-H adsorption constants (KA) were 0.0449 min-1, 11.66 mg L-1 min-1 and 1.09E-3 mg L-1, respectively. The enhanced photocatalytic activity could be ascribed to the ultrasound field and formation of a heterojunction system among CeO2 and Ag2CrO4, which lead to a better mass transfer and higher efficiency of charge electron-hole separation, respectively.

Abstract
In this study, ZnO nanorods (NRs) were hydrothermally grown on an Au-coated glass substrate at a relatively low temperature (90 °C), followed by the deposition of Ag2CrO4 particles via a successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction (SILAR) route. The content of the Ag2CrO4 particles on ZnO NRs was controlled by changing the number of SILAR cycles. The fabricated ZnO–Ag2CrO4 heterojunction photoelectrodes were subjected to morphological, structural, compositional, and optical property analyses; their photoelectrochemical (PEC) properties were investigated under simulated solar light illumination. The photocurrent responses confirmed that the ability of the ZnO–Ag2CrO4 heterojunction photoelectrodes to separate the photo-generated electron–hole pairs is stronger than that of bare ZnO NRs. Impressively, the maximum photocurrent density of about 2.51 mA cm−2 at 1.23 V (vs. Ag/AgCl) was measured for the prepared ZnO–Ag2CrO4 photoelectrode with 8 SILAR cycles (denoted as ZnO–Ag2CrO4-8), which exhibited about 3-fold photo-enhancement in the current density as compared to bare ZnO NRs (0.87 mA cm−2) under similar conditions. The improvement in photoactivity was attributed to the ideal band gap and high absorption coefficient of the Ag2CrO4 particles, which resulted in improved solar light absorption properties. Furthermore, an appropriate annealing treatment was proven to be an efficient process to increase the crystallinity of Ag2CrO4 particles deposited on ZnO NRs, which improved the charge transport characteristics of the ZnO–Ag2CrO4-8 photoelectrode annealed at 200 °C and increased the performance of the photoelectrode. The results achieved in the present work present new insights for designing n–n heterojunction photoelectrodes for efficient and cost-effective PEC applications and solar-to-fuel energy conversions. ZnO NRs hydrothermally grown on Au coated glass substrate, followed by deposition of Ag2CrO4 particles via SILAR route. The content of the Ag2CrO4 particles on the ZnO NRs were controlled by changing the number of SILAR cycles.![]()

Abstract
Due to low charge separation efficiency and poor stability, it is usually difficult for single-component photocatalysts such as graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) and silver chromate (Ag2CrO4) to fulfill photocatalytic hydrogen production efficiently. Z-scheme charge transport mechanism that mimics the photosynthesis in nature is an effective way to solve the above problems. Inspired by photosynthesis, we report Ag2CrO4 nanoparticles-decorated g-C3N4 nanosheet as an efficient photocatalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) with methanol as sacrificial agent. The formation of Z-scheme g-C3N4/Ag2CrO4 nanosheets photocatalysts could inhibit the recombination of photogenerated electron-hole pairs, promote the generation of hydrogen by photosplitting of water. The experiment results indicate that g-C3N4/Ag2CrO4 nanocomposites present enhanced photocatalytic activity and stability in the H2 evolution of water splitting. And the nanocomposites g-C3N4/Ag2CrO4(23.1%) show the 14 times HER efficiency compared to that of bare g-C3N4.

Abstract
BaTiO3/TiO2 and CaTiO3/TiO2 bilayer-type photocatalyst films have been prepared and characterised by X-ray diffraction, Raman, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, UV-vis, and scanning electron microscopy techniques. The photodeposition of silver was done to confirm the reduction positions of the titanate/TiO2 films. Silver deposited preferentially on the side of TiO2 for BaTiO3/TiO2 whereas on the side of CaTiO3 for CaTiO3/TiO2. These results imply that the direction of photogenerated electron transfer is coincident with the semiconductor physical principles. Upon exposure to light, electron–hole pairs are generated and subsequently separated by an internal electrostatic field in the titanate–TiO2 heterojunction.

Abstract
In this work, we integrated Ag3PO4 with Bi4Ti3O12 to form Bi4Ti3O12/Ag3PO4 heterojunction nanocomposites by an ion-exchange method. The as-prepared Bi4Ti3O12/Ag3PO4 composites were systematically characterized by means of XRD, SEM, TEM, BET, XPS, UV-vis DRS, EIS, PL spectroscopy, and photocurrent response. SEM, TEM, and XPS results demonstrate the creation of Bi4Ti3O12/Ag3PO4 heterojunction with obvious interfacial interaction between Bi4Ti3O12 and Ag3PO4. PL spectra, EIS spectra, and photocurrent responses reveal that the composites display an enhanced separation efficiency of photogenerated electron-hole pairs, which is due to the charge transfer between Bi4Ti3O12 and Ag3PO4. Rhodamine B (RhB) was chosen as the target organic pollutant to evaluate its degradation behavior over Bi4Ti3O12/Ag3PO4 composites under simulated sunlight irradiation. Compared to bare Bi4Ti3O12 and Ag3PO4 nanoparticles, the composites exhibit a significantly enhanced photocatalytic activity. The highest photocatalytic activity is observed for the 10% Bi4Ti3O12/Ag3PO4 composite with 10% Bi4Ti3O12 content, which is about 2.6 times higher than that of bare Ag3PO4. The photocatalytic mechanism involved was investigated and discussed in detail.
