Abstract
OBJECTIVES The association of migraine with the risk of certain cancer has been reported. The aim of this pilot study was to examine the associations between migraine and the onset of head and neck cancers (HNC). MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 1755 individuals were identified through a nationwide population-based cohort registry in Taiwan between 2000 and 2013. The primary end point variable was new-onset head and neck cancers in patients with migraine versus non-migraine controls. Cox proportional hazard regression was used to derive the risk of HNC. Subgroup analyses were performed to determine subpopulations at risk of migraine-associated HNC. Sub-outcome analyses were carried out to provide the subtypes of migraine-associated HNC. Propensity score matching was utilized to validate the findings. RESULTS A total of four patients out of 351 patients with migraine and seven out of 1404 non-migraine controls developed HNC. The incidence of HNC was higher in patients with migraine than that in non-migraine controls (108.93 vs. 48.77 per 100,000 person-years) (adjusted hazard ratio, aHR = 2.908, 95% CI = 0.808-10.469; p = 0.102). The risk of HNC in patients with migraine with aura (aHR = 5.454, 95% CI = 0.948-26.875; p = 0.264) and without aura (aHR = 2.777, 95% CI = 0.755-8.473; p = 0.118) was revealed. The incidence of non-nasopharyngeal HNC secondary to migraine (112.79 per 100,000 person-years) was higher than that of nasopharyngeal cancer secondary to migraine (105.33 per 100,000 person-years). CONCLUSION A higher incidence of HNC was observed in a small sample of patients with migraine, especially in those with migraine with aura. Migraine-associated HNC included non-nasopharyngeal HNC. Studies with a larger sample are needed to confirm the finding of the high risk of HNC in people with migraine.

Abstract
Lymph node metastasis (LNM) is one of the common features of oral tongue squamous cell carcinoma (OTSCC). LNM is also taken as a sign of advanced OTSCC and poor survival rate. Recently, single-cell RNA sequencing has been applied in investigating the heterogeneity of tumor microenvironment and discovering the potential biomarkers for helping the diagnosis and prognosticating. Pathogenesis of LNM in OTSCC remains unknown. Specifically, cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) and epithelial tumor cells could foster the progression of tumors. Thus, in this study, we aimed to comprehensively analyze the roles of subpopulations of CAFs and epithelial tumor cells in lymph node metastatic OTSCC using the integration of OTSCC single-cell RNA sequencing datasets. Four distinct subtypes of CAFs, namely vascular CAFs, myofibroblast CAFs, inflammatory CAFs, and growth arrest CAFs were successfully discovered in LNM tumor and confirmed the roles of GAS and PTN pathways in the progression of tumor metastasis. In addition, NKAIN2+ epithelial cells and FN1+ epithelial cells specifically exhibited an upregulation of PTN, NRG, MIF, and SPP1 signaling pathways in the metastatic OTSCC. In doing so, we put forth some potential biomarkers that could be utilized for the purpose of diagnosing and prognosticating OTSCC during its metastatic phase and tried to confirm by immunofluorescence assays.

Abstract
Tongue carcinoma constitutes 10.4-46.9% of all oral squamous cell carcinomas (OSCCs) and is notoriously known for invading tissues deeper than the evident gross margins. The deeper the tumor invades, the higher are its chances of future morbidity and mortality due to extensive neck dissection and risk of recurrence. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a noninvasive diagnostic aid used for measuring a preoperative tumor's depth of invasion (DOI) as it can efficiently outline soft tissue tumors from adjacent normal tissue. To assess various MRI modalities used in measuring DOI in tongue carcinoma and their reliability compared with other DOI measuring modalities. The protocol was registered in the International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (PROSPERO) database (CRD42022330866), and the following Preferred Reporting Items for a Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) Diagnostic Test Accuracy guidelines were performed. PubMed electronic database was searched using a combination of keywords for relevant articles in the English language since 2016. Critical appraisal was carried out using the Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies-Comparative (QUADAS-C) risk-of-bias (RoB) assessment tool. A weighted mean difference (WMD) was calculated between MRI and histopathological DOI along with pooled correlation and subgroup analysis, where possible. A total of 795 records were retrieved of which 17 were included in the final review with 13 included for meta-analysis. A high RoB was found for most studies for all parameters except flow and timing. WMD showed a statistically significant MRI overestimation of 1.90 mm compared with histopathology. Subgroup analysis showed the 1.5 Tesla machine to be superior to the 3.0 Tesla machine, while imaging sequence subgroup analysis could not be performed. MRI is a viable preoperative DOI measurement modality that can help in efficient treatment planning to decrease surgical morbidity and mortality.

Abstract
Cervical lymph node metastases from head and neck squamous cell cancers significantly reduce disease-free survival and worsen overall prognosis and, hence, deserve more aggressive management and follow-up. As per the eighth edition of the American Joint Committee on Cancer staging manual, extranodal extension, especially in human papillomavirus-negative cancers, has been incorporated in staging as it is important in deciding management and significantly impacts the outcome of head and neck squamous cell cancer. Lymph node imaging with various radiological modalities, including ultrasound, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging, has been widely used, not only to demonstrate nodal involvement but also for guided histopathological evaluation and therapeutic intervention. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging, together with positron emission tomography, are used widely for the follow-up of treated patients. Finally, there is an emerging role for artificial intelligence in neck node imaging that has shown promising results, increasing the accuracy of detection of nodal involvement, especially normal-appearing nodes. The aim of this review is to provide a comprehensive overview of the diagnosis and management of involved neck nodes with a focus on sentinel node anatomy, pathogenesis, imaging correlates (including radiogenomics and artificial intelligence) and the role of image-guided interventions.

Abstract
Objectives To determine whether quantitative parameters derived from dual-energy computed tomography (DECT) were predictive of the aggressiveness of oral tongue squamous cell carcinoma (OTSCC) including the pathologic stages, histologic differentiation, lymph node status, and perineural invasion (PNI). Methods Between August 2019 and March 2021, 93 patients (mean age, 54.6 ± 13.8 years; 66 men) with pathologically diagnosed OTSCC were enrolled in this prospective study. Preoperative DECT was performed and quantitative parameters (e.g., slope of the spectral Hounsfield unit curve [λHu], normalized iodine concentration [nIC], normalized effective atomic number [nZeff], and normalized electron density [nRho]) were measured on arterial phase (AP) and venous phase (VP) DECT imaging. Quantitative parameters from DECT were compared between patients with different pathologic stages, histologic differentiation, lymph node statuses, and perineural invasion statuses. Logistic regression analysis was utilized to assess independent parameters and the diagnostic performance was analyzed by the receiver operating characteristic curves (ROC). Results λHu and nIC in AP and λHu, nZeff, and nIC in VP were significantly lower in stage III–IV lesions than in stage I–II lesions (p < 0.001 to 0.024). λHu in VP was an independent predictor of tumor stage with an odds ratio (OR) of 0.29, and area under the curve (AUC) of 0.80. λHu and nIC were higher in well-differentiated lesions than in poorly differentiated lesions (p < 0.001 to 0.021). The nIC in VP was an independent predictor of histologic differentiation with OR of 0.31, and AUC of 0.78. λHu and nIC in VP were lower in OTSCCs with lymph node metastasis than those without metastasis (p < 0.001 to 0.005). λHu in VP was the independent predictor of lymph node status with OR of 0.42, and AUC of 0.74. No significant difference was found between OTSCCs without PNI and those with PNI in terms of the quantitative DECT parameters. Conclusion DECT can be a complementary means for the preoperative prediction of the aggressiveness of OTSCC.
