Abstract
In this work, we focused on synthesizing a new fluorescent probe HBA based on caffeic acid for detecting Al3+/HPO42- by the mode of "off-on-off". HBA alone exhibited a weak fluorescence emission in aqueous solution. When Al3+ was added into the HBA solution, a significant green fluorescence was found at 498 nm. However, the introduction of HPO42- to the solution of [HBA-Al3+] complex induced the disappearance of green fluorescence. The detection limit of HBA was calculated as low as 41.7 nM for Al3+ and 62.1 nM for HPO42-, respectively. Probe HBA exhibited good cell-membrane penetrability and had the potential to trace Al3+/HPO42- in biological systems.

Abstract
Aluminum (Al), a non-essential element in living systems, can potentially cause chronic toxicity. Therefore, it is crucial to have a specific and sensitive method for detecting Al3+ in order to assess its risk to life. In this study, we designed and synthesized a novel fluorescent probe (IV) based on bromoflavonol. Upon binding to Al3+, probe IV exhibits a blue shift in emission and enhanced fluorescence, making it suitable for Al3+ detection. Our UV-Vis absorption and fluorescence emission spectra demonstrate that probe IV has high selectivity and sensitivity towards Al3+ while being immune to interference from other metal ions. Through fluorescence titration, we determined that the detection limit (LOD) of probe IV for Al3+ is 1.8 × 10-8 mol/L. Job's curve and 1 H NMR titration further confirmed a 1:1 binding stoichiometry between probe IV and Al3+. Additionally, using DFT (Density Functional Theory), we calculated the energy gap difference between IV and IV + Al3+ and found that the complex formed by probe IV and Al3+ is more stable than IV alone. We successfully detected Al3+ in tap water and river water from the middle regions of the Han River, achieving recoveries of over 96% using this probe. This demonstrates its potential for quantitative detection of Al3+ in environmental water samples. Moreover, we successfully used the probe for imaging Al3+ in MG63 cells, suggesting its potential application in biological imaging.

Abstract
The specificity detection of Al3+ is important for monitoring life health and environmental pollution. A fluorescence enhancement probe based on caffeic acid HAM was synthesized for detecting Al3+ with high sensitivity and good selectivity. When Al3+ was added in the aqueous solution of HAM, the formation of HAM-Al3+ complexes inhibited the PET process, which led to great enhancement of fluorescence. The addition of other metal ions cannot induce the change of fluorescence intensity. The sensing mechanism was proved by 1H NMR titration, MS, and Job's plot. Moreover, probe HAM exhibited excellent properties, such as high sensitivity (LOD = 0.168 μM), fast response time (30 s), wide pH range (3-11), and good interference ability. Based on the above results, probe HAM was used to explore its bioimaging application in biological samples.

Abstract
An easy prepared probe, BHMMP, was designed and synthesized, which displayed a significant fluorescence enhancement (over 38-fold) and obvious color change in the recognition of Al3+. The binding ratio of probe BHMMP to Al3+ was determined as 1:1, according to Job plot. The binding mechanism was fully clarified by the experiments, such as FT-IR spectrum, ESI-MS analysis, and 1H NMR titration. A DFT study further confirmed the binding mode of BHMMP to Al3+. The limit of detection (LOD) for Al3+ was determined as low as 0.70 µM, based on the fluorescence titration of BHMMP. Moreover, the results from real sample experiments, including real water samples, test papers, and cell images, well-demonstrated that BHMMP was capable of sensing Al3+ in environmental and biological systems.

Abstract
In this work, an efficient and stable fluorescent probe for Al3+was established. The fluorescent probe based on the fluorescence 'turn-on' mode of zinc sulfide crystal composite zinc oxide quantum dots (ZnS/ZnO QDs). The ZnS/ZnO QDs were synthesized via two-step method using L-Cysteine (L-Cys) as a sulfur source and stabilizer. In the synthesis of ZnS/ZnO QDs, the fluorescence of zinc oxide quantum dots (ZnO QDs) decreased and its stability increased in aqueous solution after the addition of L-Cys. In addition, the as-synthesized ZnS/ZnO QDs shows fluorescent enhancement to Al3+. The ZnS/ZnO QDs based fluorescence 'turn-on' probe presented wide linear ranges (1 nM-8μM and 8-100μM). The availability of as-established sensing probe was also estimated by real water sample tests. Furthermore, the fluorescent enhancing mechanism was carried out by recording the fluorescent lifetime of samples, which might be related to the QDs dispersion and charge transfer weaken.

Abstract
Detection of Al3+ has become important as it is related to several health issues and other problems. Different fluorophoric platforms, such as naphthalene, benzene, rhodamine, etc., have been explored to sense Al3+ and a good number of research articles are being published. This article focuses on the synthesis of recently reported aluminum sensors constructed from 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde, salicylaldehyde, rhodamine, coumarin and different metal based-MOFs.
