Abstract
Organosubstituted silica derivatives were synthesized and investigated as modifiers of block copolymers based on macroinitiator and 2,4-toluene diisocyanate. A peculiarity of the modified block copolymers is the existence in their structure of coplanar rigid polyisocyanate blocks of acetal nature (O-polyisocyanates). Organosubstituted silica derivatives have a non-additive effect on high-temperature relaxation and α-transitions of modified polymers and exhibit the ability to influence the supramolecular structure of block copolymers. The use of the developed modifiers leads to a change in the gas transport properties of block copolymers. The increase of the permeability coefficients is due to the increase of the diffusion coefficients. At the same time, the gas solubility coefficients do not change. An increase in the ideal selectivity for a number of gas pairs is observed. An increase in the selectivity for the CO2/N2 gas pair (from 25 to 39) by 1.5 times demonstrates the promising use of this material for flue gases separation.

Abstract
Delignified lignocellulosic biomass was functionalized with amine groups. Then, the pretreated lignin-free date pits cellulose and the amine-functionalized-date pits cellulose (0–5 wt%) were incorporated into a polysulfone polymer matrix to fabricate composite membranes. The amine groups give additional hydrogen bonding to those existing from the hydroxyl groups in the date pits cellulose. The approach gives an efficient avenue to enhance the CO2 molecules’ transport pathways through the membrane matrix. The interactions between phases were investigated via Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), whereas pure gases (CO2 and N2) were used to evaluate the gas separation performances. Additionally, the thermal and mechanical properties of the fabricated composites were tested. The pure polysulfone membrane achieved an optimum separation performance at 4 Bar. The optimum separation performance for the composite membranes is achieved at 2 wt%. About 32% and 33% increments of the ideal CO2/N2 selectivity is achieved for the lignin-free date pits cellulose composite membrane and the amine-functionalized-date pits cellulose composite membrane, respectively.

Abstract
Polymer blending and mixed-matrix membranes are well-known modification techniques for tuning the gas separation properties of polymer membranes. Here, we studied the gas separation performance of mixed-matrix membranes (MMMs) based on the polyurethane/poly(vinyl alcohol) (PU/PVA) blend containing silica nanoparticles. Pure (CO2, CH4, N2, O2) and mixed-gas (CO2/N2 and CO2/CH4) permeability experiments were carried out at 10 bar and 35 °C. Poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) with a molecular weight of 200 kDa (PVA200) was blended with polyurethane (PU) to increase the CO2 solubility, while the addition of silica particles to the PU/PVA blend membranes augmented the CO2 separation performance. The SEM images of the membranes showed that the miscibility of the blend improved by increasing the PVA contents. The membrane containing 10 wt % of PVA200 (PU/PVA200–10) exhibited the highest CO2/N2~32.6 and CO2/CH4~9.5 selectivities among other blend compositions, which increased to 45.1 and 15.2 by incorporating 20 wt % nano-silica particles.

Abstract
Abstract
Polyurethane (PU) elastomers represent an important class of segmented copolymers. Thanks to many available chemical compositions, a rather broad range of chemical, physical, and biocompatible properties of PU can be obtained. These polymers are often characterized by high tensile and tear strength, elongation, fatigue life, and wear resistance. However, their relatively high permeability towards gases and water as well as their biocompatibility still limits the PU’s practical application, especially for biomedical use, for example, in implants and medical devices. In this review, the barrier and permeability properties of segmented PUs related to their chemical structure and physical and chemical properties have been discussed, including the latest developments and different approaches to improve the PU barrier properties.

Abstract
Abstract
Compared with current conventional technologies, oxygen/nitrogen (O2/N2) separation using membrane offers numerous advantages, especially in terms of energy consumption, footprint, and capital cost. However, low product purity still becomes the major challenge for commercialization of membrane-based technologies. Therefore, numerous studies on membrane development have been conducted to improve both membrane properties and separation performance. Various materials have been developed to obtain membranes with high O2 permeability and high O2/N2 selectivity, including polymer, inorganic, and polymer-inorganic composite materials. The results showed that most of the polymer membranes are suitable for production of low to moderate purity O2 and for production of high-purity N2. Meanwhile, perovskite membrane can be used to produce a high-purity oxygen. Furthermore, the developments of O2/N2 separation using membrane broaden the applications of oxygen enrichment for oxy-combustion, gasification, desulfurization, and intensification of air oxidation reactions, while nitrogen enrichment is also important for manufacturing pressure-sensitive adhesive and storing and handling free-radical polymerization monomers.
