Abstract
In recent years, the possibility for healthy women to consider or undertake oocyte freezing for non-medical reasons (OFNMR) allows women who want to have biological children, to enable motherhood at a later time, while protecting against age-related fertility decline. The present study explored the intended OFNMR among healthy Israeli women by looking at the interplay of age, childbearing intention and general self-efficacy - a personal resource. Two hundred fifty-one Israeli women were recruited through social networks and online forums related to women's issues in general. Participants completed self-report questionnaires addressing socio-demographic data, childbearing intention, general self-efficacy, and OFNMR intention. The results revealed that the association between women's age and OFNMR intention was insignificant. However, childbearing intention moderated the association between women's age and OFNMR intention. Specifically, the association between age and OFNMR intention was positive and significant for women with childbearing intention while for women without childbearing intention, it was negative and significant. General self-efficacy was not found to be associated with OFNMR intention. The current study shed light on the role of childbearing intention in the context of fertility decisions, especially among women who verbalize their intention for OFNMR. Routine discussion between health-care professionals and women regarding childbearing intentions is recommended, especially with women nearing age-related decline in fertility.

Abstract
Non-medical or Social egg freezing (oocyte cryopreservation) is currently a controversial topic in Islam, with contradictory fatwas being issued in different Muslim countries. While Islamic authorities in Egypt permit the procedure, fatwas issued in Malaysia have banned single Muslim women from freezing their unfertilized eggs (vitrified oocytes) to be used later in marriage. The underlying principles of the Malaysian fatwas are that (i) sperm and egg cells produced before marriage, should not be used during marriage to conceive a child; (ii) extraction of mature egg cells from single women being unacceptable; and (iii) fertility preservation in anticipation of late marriage is a conjecture that has not yet occurred. Ovarian tissue freezing can potentially be a more Shariah-compliant alternative to social egg freezing, because once the frozen ovarian cortical tissue sections have been re-transplanted back into the woman, mature egg cells can readily be produced, collected, and fertilized by the husband's sperm only during the period of marriage contract ('akd al-nikāḥ). Unlike accidental mix-ups with frozen eggs, muddling of lineage (nasab) would be automatically avoided in ovarian tissue freezing due to immunological rejection. However, upon critical analysis based on Qawā'id Fiqhiyyah (Islamic Legal Maxims), Maqāṣid-al-Shariah (Higher Objectives of Islamic Law), and Maslaḥah-Mafsadah (benefits versus harmful effects on society), elective ovarian tissue freezing by healthy single women for social reasons would likely be a highly contentious and controversial issue within Muslim communities that may conflict with conservative social-religious norms. This thus needs further debate among Islamic jurists in dialogue with medical doctors and biomedical scientists.

Abstract
In a landmark Fatwa, Saudi Arabia's highest religious authority-The Council of Senior Scholars-declared the Islamic permissibility of oocyte cryopreservation. The fatwa sanctioned the retrieval, preservation, and future use of oocytes, ovarian tissue, and whole ovaries from cancer patients receiving gonadotoxic interventions. Although momentous, the fatwa's specification of cancer patients effectively rendered this technology unavailable to others to whom it may be similarly beneficial, including patients with other medical conditions or patients seeking elective cryopreservation. This article argues in favor of widening reproductive choices through expanded access to oocyte cryopreservation in Saudi Arabia-regardless of the underlying cause of infertility-on three grounds: the technology's compliance with Islamic law, as a matter of fairness in medical practice, and as a means to support the well-being and flourishing of Saudi women within the context of a national societal and economic transformation strategy closely linked to their success.

Abstract
Assistive reproductive technologies are increasingly used to control the biology of fertility and its temporality. Combining historical, theoretical, and socio-empirical insights, this paper aims at expanding our understanding of the way temporality emerges and is negotiated in the contemporary practice of cryopreservation of reproductive materials. We first present an historical overview of the practice of cryo-fertility to indicate the co-production of technology and social constructions of temporality. We then apply a theoretical framework for analysing cryobiology and cryopreservation technologies as creating a new epistemic perspective interconnecting biology and temporality. Thereafter, we focus on the case of 'social egg freezing' (SEF) to present socio-empirical findings illustrating different reproductive temporalities and their connection to the social acceptance of and expectations towards the practice. SEF is a particularly interesting case as it aims to enable women to disconnect their reproductive potential from their biological rhythms. Based on 39 open interviews with Israeli and German SEF users, the cross-cultural comparative findings reveal three types of attitudes: postponing motherhood/reproductive decisions (German users); singlehood and "waiting" for a partner (Israeli and German users); and the planning of and hope for multiple children (Israeli users). For theory building, this analysis uncovers temporality formations embedded in gender and reproductive moral values; including the 'extended present', 'waiting', and 'reproductive futurism'. We conclude by discussing the contribution of our findings by advancing the theoretical framework of 'cryopolitics' highlighting the theoretical implications and importance of gendered and cultural imaginaries (re)constructing medical technological innovations and related temporalities.

Abstract
PURPOSE To evaluate the prevalence and factors associated with decision regret following oocyte cryopreservation (OC) in women with diminished ovarian reserve (DOR) and/or age-related fertility decline (ARFD). METHODS A cross-sectional survey study was conducted to five hundred fifty-two women with DOR and/or ARFD who underwent OC between 2014 and 2019 in two private-assisted reproductive units in Istanbul, Turkey. Decision regret was measured using the validated Decision Regret Scale (DRS). RESULTS The median and mean DRS scores were 10 (interquartile range: 25) and 13.4 (SD: 13.2, range 0-70), respectively. Eighty-five (52.5%) women reported mild regret and 26 (16%) had moderate to severe regret. Decision regret was inversely associated with the belief in fate regarding childbearing and trust in the efficacy of OC. CONCLUSIONS The prevalence of severe decision regret among patients with DOR and/or ARFD undergoing OC is low. Women who had belief in fate and trusted in the efficacy of oocyte cryopreservation had significantly lower decisional regret.

Abstract
Oocyte cryopreservation (i.e., egg freezing) is one of the newest forms of assisted reproduction and is increasingly being used primarily by two groups of women: (1) young cancer patients at risk of losing their fertility through cytotoxic chemotherapy (i.e., medical egg freezing); and (2) single professionals in their late 30s who are facing age-related fertility decline in the absence of reproductive partners (i.e., elective egg freezing). Based on a binational ethnographic study, this article examines the significance of egg freezing among Jewish women in Israel and the United States. As they face the Jewish maternal imperative, these women are turning to egg freezing to relieve both medical and marital uncertainties. In both secular and religious Jewish contexts, egg freezing is now becoming naturalized as acceptable and desirable precisely because it cryopreserves Jewish motherhood, keeping reproductive options open for Jewish women, and serving as a protective self-preservation technology within their pronatalist social environments.
