Abstract
Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are a type of non-coding RNA (ncRNA) that possesses a unique single-stranded circular structure. They are primarily formed through alternative splicing of pre-mRNA (messenger RNA). The primary biological function of circRNAs is to regulate gene expression at both the transcriptional and post-transcriptional levels. Recent studies have increasingly demonstrated a close association between the dysregulation of circRNAs and the progression of diverse cancers, where they can function as either tumor suppressors or oncogenes. circWHSC1 (circNSD2) is a circular ncRNA that originates from the first 2 exons of the Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome candidate gene (WHSC1). As Chen 2019 discovery that circWHSC1 (circNSD2) functions as a sponge for miRNAs and promotes cancer, this circRNA has garnered significant interest among researchers. circWHSC1 (circNSD2) has been found to be up-regulated in various malignant tumors, including nasopharyngeal carcinoma, lung cancer, breast cancer, liver cancer, colorectal cancer, ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, and endometrial cancer. It exerts its effects on cancer by either inhibiting or promoting the expression of related genes through direct or indirect pathways, ultimately affecting cancer proliferation, invasion, and prognosis. This article provides a comprehensive review and discussion of the biological roles of circWHSC1 (circNSD2) and its target genes in various cancers, as well as the latest research progress on related molecular biological regulatory mechanisms. Furthermore, the potential significance of circWHSC1 (circNSD2) in future clinical applications and transformations is thoroughly analyzed and discussed.

Abstract
Cancer exhibits heterogeneity that enables adaptability and remains grand challenges for effective treatment. Chemotherapy is a validated and critically important strategy for the treatment of cancer, but the emergence of multidrug resistance which may lead to recurrence of disease or even death is a major hurdle for successful chemotherapy. Azoles and sulfonamides are important anticancer pharmacophores, and azole-sulfonamide hybrids have the potential to simultaneously act on dual/multiple targets in cancer cells, holding great promise to overcome drug resistance. This review outlines the current scenario of azole-sulfonamide hybrids with the anticancer potential, and the structure-activity relationships as well as mechanisms of action are also discussed, covering articles published from 2020 onward.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To explore the effects of a 'Rebuilding Myself' intervention on enhancing the adaptability of cancer patients to return to work. METHODS A single-center, single-blind, randomized controlled trial design was used. Eligible patients who were receiving routine hospital treatment were recruited from the university-affiliated hospital in our city. Patients in the control group only received usual care, while patients in the intervention group received additional 'Rebuilding Myself' intervention. Adaptability to return to work, self-efficacy of returning to work, mental resilience, quality of life and work ability were measured at baseline, the 6th and 12th of the intervention. The general estimation equations were used to compare the overall changes of each outcome index between the two groups at different time points. Considering that there may be patient shedding and rejection, Per-Protocol and Intention-to-Treat analysis were used to analyze the data in this study. RESULTS There were statistically significant differences between the two groups of patients in the cancer patients' adaptability to return to work, self-efficacy to return to work, mental resilience, work abilities, the physical, emotional, cognitive function, fatigue, insomnia and overall health status dimensions of quality of life (P < 0.05). And no significant difference was found in other dimensions (P > 0.05). The group effect, time effect, and interaction effect of patients' return to work adaptability and return to work self-efficacy were statistically significant in both groups (P < 0.05). Mental resilience, working ability, and quality of life had obvious time effect and interaction effect (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION This intervention could improve cancer patients' adaptability to return to work, self-efficacy to return to work, mental resilience, work abilities and quality of life. And it can be further expanded to improve the adaptability of patients to return to work, then to help patients achieve comprehensive rehabilitation. IMPLICATIONS FOR CANCER SURVIVORS The application of 'Rebuilding Myself' interventions can effectively improve the adaptability of cancer patients returning to work. TRIAL REGISTRATION This study was registered at the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry (Registration number: ChiCTR2200057943) on 23 March, 2022.

Abstract
Melatonin, (N-acetyl-5-methoxytryptamine) an indoleamine exerts multifaced effects and regulates numerous cellular pathways and molecular targets associated with circadian rhythm, immune modulation, and seasonal reproduction including metabolic rewiring during T cell malignancy. T-cell malignancies encompass a group of hematological cancers characterized by the uncontrolled growth and proliferation of malignant T-cells. These cancer cells exhibit a distinct metabolic adaptation, a hallmark of cancer in general, as they rewire their metabolic pathways to meet the heightened energy requirements and biosynthesis necessary for malignancies is the Warburg effect, characterized by a shift towards glycolysis, even when oxygen is available. In addition, T-cell malignancies cause metabolic shift by inhibiting the enzyme pyruvate Dehydrogenase Kinase (PDK) which in turn results in increased acetyl CoA enzyme production and cellular glycolytic activity. Further, melatonin plays a modulatory role in the expression of essential transporters (Glut1, Glut2) responsible for nutrient uptake and metabolic rewiring, such as glucose and amino acid transporters in T-cells. This modulation significantly impacts the metabolic profile of T-cells, consequently affecting their differentiation. Furthermore, melatonin has been found to regulate the expression of critical signaling molecules involved in T-cell activations, such as CD38, and CD69. These molecules are integral to T-cell adhesion, signaling, and activation. This review aims to provide insights into the mechanism of melatonin's anticancer properties concerning metabolic rewiring during T-cell malignancy. The present review encompasses the involvement of oncogenic factors, the tumor microenvironment and metabolic alteration, hallmarks, metabolic reprogramming, and the anti-oncogenic/oncostatic impact of melatonin on various cancer cells.

Abstract
Radiotherapy (RT) is a unique modality in cancer treatment with no replacement in many cases and uses a tumoricidal dose of various ionizing radiation (IR) types to kill cancer cells. It causes oxidative stress through reactive oxygen species (ROS) production or the destruction of antioxidant systems. On the other hand, RT stimulates the immune system both directly and indirectly by releasing danger signals from stress-exposed and dying cells. Oxidative stress and inflammation are two reciprocal and closely related mechanisms, one induced and involved by the other. ROS regulates the intracellular signal transduction pathways, which participate in the activation and expression of pro-inflammatory genes. Reciprocally, inflammatory cells release ROS and immune system mediators during the inflammation process, which drive the induction of oxidative stress. Oxidative stress or inflammation-induced damages can result in cell death (CD) or survival mechanisms that may be destructive for normal cells or beneficial for cancerous cells. The present study has focused on the radioprotection of those agents with binary effects of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory mechanisms IR-induced CD.

Abstract
In recent decades, the escalating prevalence of metabolic disorders, notably obesity and being overweight, has emerged as a pressing concern in public health. Projections for the future indicate a continual upward trajectory in obesity rates, primarily attributable to unhealthy dietary patterns and sedentary lifestyles. The ramifications of obesity extend beyond its visible manifestations, intricately weaving a web of hormonal dysregulation, chronic inflammation, and oxidative stress. This nexus of factors holds particular significance in the context of carcinogenesis, notably in the case of prostate cancer (PCa), which is a pervasive malignancy and a leading cause of mortality among men. A compelling hypothesis arises from the perspective of transgenerational inheritance, wherein genetic and epigenetic imprints associated with obesity may wield influence over the development of PCa. This review proposes a comprehensive exploration of the nuanced mechanisms through which obesity disrupts prostate homeostasis and serves as a catalyst for PCa initiation. Additionally, it delves into the intriguing interplay between the transgenerational transmission of both obesity-related traits and the predisposition to PCa. Drawing insights from a spectrum of sources, ranging from in vitro and animal model research to human studies, this review endeavors to discuss the intricate connections between obesity and PCa. However, the landscape remains partially obscured as the current state of knowledge unveils only fragments of the complex mechanisms linking these phenomena. As research advances, unraveling the associated factors and underlying mechanisms promises to unveil novel avenues for understanding and potentially mitigating the nexus between obesity and the development of PCa.

Abstract
N6-methyladenosine (m6A) RNA methylation, a dynamic regulator of transcript expression, plays a pivotal role in cancer by influencing diverse mRNA processes, including nuclear export, splicing, translation and decay. It intersects with cancer biology, impacting progression, treatment sensitivity and prognosis. Platinum-based compounds are essential in cancer treatment, while intrinsic or acquired resistance poses a formidable challenge, limiting therapeutic efficacy. Recent breakthroughs have established a direct association between m6A RNA methylation and platinum resistance in various cancer types. This review summarized related studies, aiming to provide profound insights into the interplay between m6A-associated regulation and platinum-resistance mechanisms in cancer. It explores therapeutic approaches, including personalized treatments based on m6A profiles, guiding future research to enhance clinical strategies for oncological prognostic outcomes.

Abstract
Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed neoplasm in women in Italy. There are several risk factors, but thanks to screening and increased awareness, most breast cancers are diagnosed at an early stage when surgical treatment can most often be conservative and the adopted therapy is more effective. Regular screening is essential but advanced technology is needed to achieve quality diagnoses. Mammography is the gold standard for early detection of breast cancer. It is a specialized technique for detecting breast cancer and, thus, distinguishing normal tissue from cancerous breast tissue. Mammography techniques are based on physical principles: through the proper use of X-rays, the structures of different tissues can be observed. This first part of the paper attempts to explain the physical principles used in mammography. In particular, we will see how a mammogram is composed and what physical principles are used to obtain diagnostic images.

Abstract
Mounting evidence has demonstrated the considerable regulatory effects of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) in the tumorigenesis and progression of various carcinomas. LncRNA Semaphorin 3B (SEMA3B) antisense RNA 1 (SEMA3B-AS1) has been found to be dysregulated in a few carcinomas recently. However, its potential function and mechanism in colorectal carcinoma (CRC) have not yet been examined. Here we show that SEMA3B-AS1 acts as a crucial regulator of CRC progression. We found that SEMA3B-AS1 expression was downregulated in CRC cell lines and tissues. Downregulation of SEMA3B-AS1 was significantly associated with poor survival in CRC patients. Overexpression of SEMA3B-AS1 reduced the cell growth and metastasis of CRC in vivo and in vitro. In addition, SEMA3B-AS1 promoted the expression of its sense-cognate gene SEMA3B, a member of the Semaphorin family (SEMAs), by recruiting EP300 to induce H3K9 acetylation at the SEMA3B promoter. Furthermore, we proved that SEMA3B-AS1 suppressed CRC angiogenesis by affecting the vascular endothelial growth factor signaling pathway activation which was regulated by the SEMA3B-NRP1 axis. Our work unravels a novel mechanism of SEMA3B-AS1 in the inhibition of CRC malignant progression and highlights its probability as a new promising diagnostic marker and therapeutic target for CRC interventions.

Abstract
Cancer is a multifactorial disease that continues to increase. Lignans are known to be important anticancer agents. However, due to the structural diversity of lignans, it is difficult to associate anticancer activity with a particular subclass. Therefore, the present study sought to evaluate the association of lignan subclasses with antitumor activity, considering the genetic profile of the variants of the selected targets. To do so, predictive models were built against the targets tyrosine-protein kinase ABL (ABL), epidermal growth factor receptor erbB1 (EGFR), histone deacetylase (HDAC), serine/threonine-protein kinase mTOR (mTOR) and poly [ADP-ribose] polymerase-1 (PARP1). Then, single nucleotide polymorphisms were mapped, target mutations were designed, and molecular docking was performed with the lignans with the best predicted biological activity. The results showed more anticancer activity in the dibenzocyclooctadiene, furofuran and aryltetralin subclasses. The lignans with the best predictive values of biological activity showed varying binding energy results in the presence of certain genetic variants.

Abstract
Cancer is a process involving cell mutation, increased proliferation, invasion, and metastasis. Over the years, this condition has represented one of the most concerning health problems worldwide due to its significant morbidity and mortality. At present, the incidence of cancer continues to grow exponentially. Thus, it is imperative to open new avenues in cancer research to understand the molecular changes driving DNA transformation, cell-to-cell interaction derangements, and immune system surveillance decay. In this regard, evidence supports the relationship between chronic inflammation and cancer. In light of this, a group of bioactive lipids derived from polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) may have a position as novel anti-inflammatory molecules known as the specialized pro-resolving mediators (SPMs), a group of pro-resolutive inflammation agents that could improve the anti-tumor immunity. These molecules have the potential role of chemopreventive and therapeutic agents for various cancer types, and their effects have been documented in the scientific literature. Thus, this review objective centers around understanding the effect of SPMs on carcinogenesis and their potential therapeutic effect.

Abstract
PURPOSE Cancer and obesity represent two of the most significant global health concerns. The risk of malignancy, including colorectal cancer (CRC), increases with obesity. The aim of this study was to perform a systematic review and meta-analysis to determine the value of bariatric surgery in reducing CRC risk in patients with obesity using registry data. MATERIALS AND METHODS A systematic review and meta-analysis were performed as per PRISMA guidelines. The risk of CRC was expressed as a dichotomous variable and reported as odds ratios (OR) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) using the Mantel-Haenszel method. A multi-treatment comparison was performed, examining the risk reduction associated with existing bariatric surgery techniques. Analysis was performed using RevMan, R packages, and Shiny. RESULTS Data from 11 registries including 6,214,682 patients with obesity were analyzed. Of these, 14.0% underwent bariatric surgery (872,499/6,214,682), and 86.0% did not undergo surgery (5,432,183/6,214,682). The mean age was 49.8 years, and mean follow-up was 5.1 years. In total, 0.6% of patients who underwent bariatric surgery developed CRC (4,843/872,499), as did 1.0% of unoperated patients with obesity (54,721/5,432,183). Patients with obesity who underwent bariatric surgery were less likely to develop CRC (OR: 0.53, 95% CI: 0.36-0.77, P < 0.001, I2 = 99%). Patients with obesity undergoing gastric bypass surgery (GB) (OR: 0.513, 95% CI: 0.336-0.818) and sleeve gastrectomy (SG) (OR: 0.484, 95% CI: 0.307-0.763) were less likely to develop CRC than unoperated patients. CONCLUSION At a population level, bariatric surgery is associated with reduced CRC risk in patients with obesity. GB and SG are associated with the most significant reduction in CRC risk. Abstract
Chemotherapy is a critical treatment modality for cancer patients, but multidrug resistance remains one of the major challenges in cancer therapy, creating an urgent need for the development of novel potent chemical entities. Azoles, particularly pyrazole, could interact with different biological targets and exhibit diverse biological properties including anticancer activity. Many clinically used anticancer agents own an azole moiety, demonstrating that azoles are privileged and pivotal templates in the discovery of novel anticancer chemotherapeutics. The present article is an attempt to highlight the recent advances in pyrazole-azole hybrids with anticancer potential and discuss the structure-activity relationships, covering articles published from 2018 to present, to facilitate the rational design of more effective anticancer candidates.

Abstract
Despite cancer being a leading comorbidity amongst individuals with HIV, there are limited data assessing cancer trends across different antiretroviral therapy (ART)-eras. We calculated age-standardised cancer incidence rates (IRs) from 2006-2021 in two international cohort collaborations (D:A:D and RESPOND). Poisson regression was used to assess temporal trends, adjusted for potential confounders. Amongst 64,937 individuals (31% ART-naïve at baseline) and 490,376 total person-years of follow-up (PYFU), there were 3763 incident cancers (IR 7.7/1000 PYFU [95% CI 7.4, 7.9]): 950 AIDS-defining cancers (ADCs), 2813 non-ADCs, 1677 infection-related cancers, 1372 smoking-related cancers, and 719 BMI-related cancers (groups were not mutually exclusive). Age-standardised IRs for overall cancer remained fairly constant over time (8.22/1000 PYFU [7.52, 8.97] in 2006-2007, 7.54 [6.59, 8.59] in 2020-2021). The incidence of ADCs (3.23 [2.79, 3.72], 0.99 [0.67, 1.42]) and infection-related cancers (4.83 [4.2, 5.41], 2.43 [1.90, 3.05]) decreased over time, whilst the incidence of non-ADCs (4.99 [4.44, 5.58], 6.55 [5.67, 7.53]), smoking-related cancers (2.38 [2.01, 2.79], 3.25 [2.63-3.96]), and BMI-related cancers (1.07 [0.83, 1.37], 1.88 [1.42, 2.44]) increased. Trends were similar after adjusting for demographics, comorbidities, HIV-related factors, and ART use. These results highlight the need for better prevention strategies to reduce the incidence of NADCs, smoking-, and BMI-related cancers.

Abstract
Protein-based nanocarriers have demonstrated good potential for cancer drug delivery. Silk sericin nano-particle is arguably one of the best in this field. In this study, we developed a surface charge reversal sericin-based nanocarrier to co-deliver resveratrol and melatonin (MR-SNC) to MCF-7 breast cancer cells as combination therapy. MR-SNC was fabricated with various sericin concentrations via flash-nanoprecipitation as a simple and reproducible method without complicated equipment. The nanoparticles were subsequently characterized for their size, charge, morphology and shape by dynamic light scattering (DLS) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). Nanocarriers chemical and conformational analysis were done by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and circular dichroism (CD) respectively. In vitro drug release was determined at different pH values (7.45, 6.5 and 6). The cellular uptake and cytotoxicity were studies using breast cancer MCF-7 cells. MR-SNC fabricated with the lowest sericin concentration (0.1%), showed a desirable 127 nm size, with a net negative charge at physiological pH. Sericin structure was preserved entirely in the form of nano-particles. Among the three pH values we applied, the maximum in vitro drug release was at pH 6, 6.5, and 7.4, respectively. This pH dependency showed the charge reversal property of our smart nanocarrier via changing the surface charge from negative to positive in mildly acidic pH, destructing the electrostatic interactions between sericin surface amino acids. Cell viability studies demonstrated the significant toxicity of MR-SNC in MCF-7 cells at all pH values after 48 h, suggesting a synergistic effect of combination therapy with the two antioxidants. The efficient cellular uptake of MR-SNC, DNA fragmentation and chromatin condensation was found at pH 6. Nutshell, our result indicated proficient release of the entrapped drug combination from MR-SNC in an acidic environment leading to cell apoptosis. This work introduces a smart pH-responsive nano-platform for anti-breast cancer drug delivery.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Around 30% of cancer survivors suffer from chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) ≥6 months after completion of chemotherapy, which comes with limitations in daily functioning and worsened quality of life(QoL). Treatment options are scarce. Our aim was to develop an online self-help intervention based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to reduce pain interference in cancer survivors experiencing painful chronic CIPN. MATERIAL AND METHODS This article applied a patient-centered design process using the Center for eHealth Research (CeHRes) roadmap. User needs were examined using online semi-structured interviews with patients and experts (N = 23). Interviews were transcribed verbatim and analyzed using thematic analysis. Personas were created based on interviews. Intervention content was based on identified user needs and ACT. Content and design were finalized using low-fidelity prototype testing (N = 5), and high-fidelity prototype testing (N = 7). RESULTS Patients appreciated and agreed with the elements of ACT, had varying guidance needs, and wanted to have autonomy (e.g., moment and duration of use). Additionally, it was important to be aware that patients have had a life-threatening disease which directly relates to the symptoms they experience. Patients reported to prefer a user-friendly and accessible intervention. Similar points also emerged in the expert interviews. The final intervention, named Embrace Pain, includes six sessions. Session content is based on psychoeducation and all ACT processes. Further interpretation of the intervention (such as quotes, guidance, and multimedia choices) is based on the interviews. CONCLUSION This development demonstrated how a patient-centered design process from a theoretical framework can be applied. Theory-driven content was used as the basis of the intervention. Findings show an online ACT intervention designed for cancer survivors with painful chronic CIPN.

Abstract
Introduction: In recent years, various nanoparticles (NPs) have been discovered and synthesized for the targeted therapy of cancer cells. Targeted delivery increases the local concentration of therapeutics and minimizes side effects. Therefore, NPs-mediated targeted drug delivery systems have become a promising approach for the treatment of various cancers. As a result, in the current study, we aimed to design silibinin-loaded magnetic niosomes nanoparticles (MNNPs) and investigate their cytotoxicity property in colorectal cancer cell treatment. Methods: MNPs ferrofluids were prepared and encapsulated into niosomes (NIOs) by the thin film hydration method. Afterward, the morphology, size, and chemical structure of the synthesized MNNPs were evaluated using the TEM, DLS, and FT-IR techniques, respectively. Results and Discussion: The distribution number of MNNPs was obtained at about 50 nm and 70 nm with a surface charge of -19.0 mV by TEM and DLS analysis, respectively. Silibinin loading efficiency in NIOs was about 90%, and the drug release pattern showed a controlled release with a maximum amount of about 49% and 70%, within 4 h in pH = 7.4 and pH = 5.8, respectively. To investigate the cytotoxicity effect, HT-29 cells were treated with the various concentration of the drugs for 24 and 48 h and evaluated by the MTT as well as flow cytometry assays. Obtained results demonstrated promoted cell cytotoxicity of silibinin-loaded MNNPs (5-fold decrease in cell viability) compared to pure silibinin (3-fold decrease in cell viability) while had no significant cytotoxic effect on HEK-293 (normal cell line) cells, and the cellular uptake level of MNNPs by the HT-29 cell line was enhanced compared to the control group. In conclusion, silibinin-loaded MNNPs complex can be considered as an efficient treatment approach for colorectal cancer cells.

Abstract
PURPOSE Cannabis use is increasing legally worldwide, while its impact on cancer risk is unclear. This study was performed to investigate the relationship between cannabis use and the risk of several types of cancer. METHODS We conducted a two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) study to explore the causality of cannabis use on 9 site-specific types of cancer including breast cancer, cervical cancer, melanoma, colorectal cancer, laryngeal cancer, oral cancer, oropharyngeal cancer, esophageal cancer, and glioma. Genome-wide significant genetic instruments (P < 5E-06) for cannabis use were extracted from a large-scale genome-wide association meta-analysis of European ancestry, whereas cancer genetic instruments were extracted from the UK Biobank (UKB) cohort and GliomaScan consortium in the OpenGWAS database. The inverse-variance weighted (IVW) was considered the main method for MR analysis, and sensitivity analyses including MR-Egger, weighted median, MR pleiotropy residual sum, and outlier test (MR-PRESSO) were conducted to evaluate the robustness of the results. RESULTS Cannabis use was a significant promoting factor for cervical cancer (OR = 1.001265, 95% CI 1.000375-1.002155, P = 0.0053). And we also detected suggestive evidence of the causality of cannabis use on laryngeal cancer (OR = 1.000350, 95% CI 1.000027-1.000672, P = 0.0336) and breast cancer (OR = 1.003741, 95% CI 1.000052-1.007442, P = 0.0467). No evidence of a causal association of cannabis use with other site-specific types of cancer was detected. Additionally, no pleiotropy or heterogeneity was found in the sensitivity analysis. CONCLUSION This study indicates a causative association of cannabis use on cervical cancer, while cannabis use may increase the odds of breast cancer and laryngeal cancer, which require further evaluation in large-scale population-based studies.

Abstract
PURPOSE Patients with multiple myeloma and their caregivers are financially burdened, and their quality of life is significantly affected by treatment costs and care expenses. The aim of our study is to examine the impact of financial well-being of the caregiver on the life quality of patients with multiple myeloma. METHODS The study included 113 patients with multiple myeloma and 113 caregivers in two hospitals located in Western Turkey. This study evaluated the demographic characteristics of patients and their caregivers, financial status, financial well-being, and quality of life of caregivers. Simple linear regression analyses were used to examine the impact of financial well-being on caregiver quality of life. RESULTS The average age of multiple myeloma patients and caregivers is 64.00 ± 11.05 and 48.02 ± 11.4, respectively. Of patients, 50.4% and 62.8% of their caregivers were female. It is determined that 51.3% of the patients were diagnosed in 1-5 years, 85% received chemotherapy, and 80.5% had an ECOG performance status between 0 and 1. Caregivers' quality of life and financial well-being were found to be low. On one hand, while caregivers' financial well-being (β = - 1.003; t = - 3.831; p = .000) negatively affected the quality of their lives, their financial satisfaction (β = 2.507; t = 3.820; p = .000) positively affected the quality of their lives, on the other hand. CONCLUSIONS Caregivers' quality of life declined as their financial well-being got worse. Decreased quality of life of caregivers may affect the quality of care they provide to patients with MM. Hence, this study recommends the following. First, nurses who care for patients with MM should always assess the financial situation of patients and caregivers. Second, patient navigators, hospital billing specialists, and social workers should provide financial guidance to multiple myeloma patients and caregivers and provide help in solving their financial problems. Finally, policies that support the financial situation of patients and caregivers should be developed.

Abstract
PurposeOral health plays an important role in overall health. But there is scarce information available on oral health behavior and oral health service utilization among cancer patients. This study aimed to evaluate oral health behavior and oral health service utilization among different population groups of cancer patients in China.MethodsA multicenter cross-sectional study in three tertiary hospitals was conducted to explore the oral health behaviors and oral health service utilization of 162 cancer patients in China.ResultsWe investigated a total of 162 cancer patients, 81 from urban and rural areas, respectively. The participant’s ages ranged from 18 and 82 years, mean age was 44.62 years (SD = 15.72). Overall, cancer patients have poor oral health behaviors and limited oral health service utilization. There were statistically significant differences (p < 0.05) between urban and rural cancer patients in terms of oral health behaviors, including brushing methods, the use of fluoride toothpaste, the use of dental floss, dental caries, and bleeding gums while brushing teeth. As for oral health service utilization, there were significant differences (p < 0.05) between urban and rural cancer patients on regular dental cleaning, the reasons for visiting a dental clinic, and whether they took the initiative to learn about oral health.ConclusionThe study findings suggest that cancer patients had poor oral health behaviors and limited oral health service utilization, and rural patients perform poorer than their urban counterparts. Oral health education should be provided to cancer patients to improve their oral health behaviors and oral health service utilization.

Abstract
Three-dimensional cell culture technology (3DCC) sits between two-dimensional cell culture (2DCC) and animal models and is widely used in oncology research. Compared to 2DCC, 3DCC allows cells to grow in a three-dimensional space, better simulating the in vivo growth environment of tumors, including hypoxia, nutrient concentration gradients, micro angiogenesis mimicism, and the interaction between tumor cells and the tumor microenvironment matrix. 3DCC has unparalleled advantages when compared to animal models, being more controllable, operable, and convenient. This review summarizes the comparison between 2DCC and 3DCC, as well as recent advances in different methods to obtain 3D models and their respective advantages and disadvantages.

Abstract
Multiple primary cancers are increasingly more frequent due to improved survival of cancer patients. Characteristics of the first primary cancer largely impact the risk of developing subsequent primary cancers. Hence, model-based risk characterization of cancer survivors that captures patient-specific variables is needed for healthcare policy making. We propose a Bayesian semi-parametric framework, where the occurrence processes of the competing cancer types follow independent non-homogeneous Poisson processes and adjust for covariates including the type and age at diagnosis of the first primary. Applying this framework to a historically collected cohort with families presenting a highly enriched history of multiple primary tumors and diverse cancer types, we have derived a suite of age-to-onset penetrance curves for cancer survivors. This includes penetrance estimates for second primary lung cancer, potentially impactful to ongoing cancer screening decisions. Using Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curves, we have validated the good predictive performance of our models in predicting second primary lung cancer, sarcoma, breast cancer, and all other cancers combined, with areas under the curves (AUCs) at 0.89, 0.91, 0.76 and 0.68, respectively. In conclusion, our framework provides covariate-adjusted quantitative risk assessment for cancer survivors, hence moving a step closer to personalized health management for this unique population.

Abstract
Cancer is one of the leading causes of death across the world, and the prevalence and mortality rates of cancer will continue to grow. Chemotherapeutics play a critical role in cancer therapy, but drug resistance and side effects are major hurdles to effective treatment, evoking an immediate need for the discovery of new anticancer agents. Triazines including 1,2,3-, 1,2,4-, and 1,3,5-triazine have occupied a propitious place in drug design and development due to their excellent pharmacological profiles. Mechanistically, triazine derivatives could interfere with various signaling pathways to induce cancer cell death. Hence, triazine derivatives possess potential in vitro and in vivo efficacy against diverse cancers. In particular, triazine hybrids are able to overcome drug resistance and reduce side effects. Moreover, several triazine hybrids such as brivanib (indole-containing pyrrolo[2,1-f][1,2,4]triazine), gedatolisib (1,3,5-triazine-urea hybrid), and enasidenib (1,3,5-triazine-pyridine hybrid) have already been available in the market. Accordingly, triazine hybrids are useful scaffolds for the discovery of novel anticancer chemotherapeutics. This review focuses on the anticancer activity of 1,2,3-, 1,2,4-, and 1,3,5-triazine hybrids, together with the structure-activity relationships and mechanisms of action developed from 2017 to the present. The enriched structure-activity relationships may be useful for further rational drug development of triazine hybrids as potential clinical candidates.

Abstract
Naturally occurring indole alkaloids are ubiquitously present in nature and possess extensive biological properties and structural diversity. Mechanistically, naturally occurring indole alkaloids have the potential to inhibit cancer cell proliferation, arrest cell cycle and induce apoptosis. Accordingly, naturally occurring indole alkaloids exhibit promising activity against both drug-sensitive and drug-resistant cancers including multidrug-resistant forms. Therefore, naturally occurring indole alkaloids constitute an important source of anticancer drug leads and candidates. The goal of this review is to highlight the current scenario of naturally occurring indole alkaloids with anticancer potential, covering articles published from 2018 to present. The names, sources, and antiproliferative activity are discussed to continuously open up a map for the remarkable exploration of more effective candidates.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To systematically evaluate the risk factors of depression and anxiety in older adults with cancer. METHOD This PRISMA-adherent systematic review (PROSPERO CRD42022372747) involved a systematic database search for prospective and retrospective cohort studies. RESULTS We included 33 cohort studies with 31 evaluating depression and seven evaluating anxiety. Systematic synthesis yielded various protective and exacerbating factors for depression and anxiety amongst older adults with cancer. These factors span a range of domains: (1) Cancer and associated treatment-related factors; (2) Medical, physical and functional factors; (3) Demographic factors and; (4) Social and lifestyle factors. At the individual-level, the most significant factors were the presence of chronic medical comorbidities, having pre-existing psychological symptoms, and poor baseline physical and functional status. Within the social unit, the degree of social support and presence of a partner were most significant. CONCLUSION The deleterious impact comorbid psychological symptoms can have on older adults with cancer can be profound. In this review, we highlight a range of protective and exacerbating factors identified from cohort studies that may enable policymakers to tailor and individualise interventions to manage depression, anxiety and associated burden in this vulnerable population. The relative paucity of studies evaluating anxiety highlights an important research gap.

Abstract
BACKGROUND There is growing evidence that the SNX family is critical for clinical prognosis, immune infiltration and drug sensitivity in many types of tumors. The relationships between the SNX29 gene and clinical prognosis as well as pan-cancer cell infiltration and drug sensitivity have not been fully elucidated. METHODS In the current study, we explored the correlation between SNX29 expression and 33 types of malignancies via TCGA and GTEx. The relationship between SNX29 expression and prognostic outcome in the pan-caner cohort was also analyzed. Immune infiltration, microsatellite instability, tumor mutational burden and potential therapeutic targets of SNX29 were investigated by analyzing public databases. RESULTS The expression of SNX29 was found to be significantly upregulated in most tumor tissues compared to normal tissues. SNX29 expression was associated with prognosis and clinical stage. In the immune infiltration analysis, a significant relationship was found between SNX29 expression and the level of immune infiltration. In addition, we found associations between the SNX29 gene and tumor mutation burden, microsatellite instability, immunoinhibition-related genes and autophagy-related genes. Finally, the expression of SNX29 was significantly associated with the sensitivity of various tumor cell lines to 8 antitumor drugs. These results suggest that SNX29 expression is important in determining the progression, immune infiltration and drug sensitivity of various cancers. CONCLUSION This study provides novel insights into the potential pan-cancer targets of SNX29.

Abstract
Supportive care programming helps many adults affected by cancer manage concerns related to their disease. Public health restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic have undoubtedly changed the nature of supportive care programming delivery. Yet, access to supportive care programming and comfort gathering through the pandemic are unknown. As a first step towards informing ongoing supportive care programming for adults affected by cancer, this observational, mixed methods study described supportive care programming access through the COVID-19 pandemic and comfort returning to in-person supportive care programming as restrictions eased. Adults affected by cancer (n = 113; mean age = 61.9 ± 12.7 years; 68% female) completed an online survey, and descriptive statistics were computed. A purposeful sample of survey participants (n = 12; mean age = 58.0 ± 14.5 years; 58% female) was subsequently recruited to complete semi-structured interviews. Interviews were analyzed using reflexive thematic analysis. Less than half (41.6%) of the survey sample reported accessing supportive care programming during the pandemic, and of those who had accessed supportive care programming, most (65.6%) perceived similar or greater access than pre-pandemic. During interviews, participants described the ways online delivery enhanced their access and reduced barriers to supportive care programming. However, physical activity programming was described as challenging to navigate online. With restrictions easing, most of the survey sample (56.6%) reported being apprehensive about returning to in-person supportive care programming and identified the protocols that would make them feel safe to gather. During interviews, participants recounted struggling to balance their need for social connection with their health and safety. This study provides evidence to inform supportive care programming for adults affected by cancer through the COVID-19 pandemic. Findings suggest online delivery can enhance access to some types of supportive care programming for some adults affected by cancer, and that efforts are needed to ensure all adults affected by cancer feel comfortable gathering in-person.

Abstract
Prostate cancer (PCa) is the second most common malignancy in men, and the fifth leading cause of death worldwide. Mesenchymal stromal/stem cells (MSC) have been identified in PCa, although contradictory effects in malignant transformation and tumor progression have been described. Since umbilical cord (UC) MSC and cord blood serum (CBS) are rich in numerous growth and anti-inflammatory factors, UC-MSC secretome and CBS are able to modulate tumor cell proliferation and survival as well as immunity and angiogenesis. In the present study, we address this relationship and investigate the influence of UC-MSC secretome and CBS on two human PCa cell lines (PC3 and LNCaP) and a normal epithelial prostate cell line (HPEpiC). Our results disclosed that upon exposure to UC-MSC-conditioned medium or CBS, both PC3 and LNCaP cells exhibited reduced viability, proliferation, and motility while non-malignant epithelial prostate cells were unaffected. These findings were corroborated by expression analysis of AKT/PI3K signaling pathway, p53 and interleukin genes. UC-MSC and CBS factors decreased the expression of growth-stimulating AKT and PI3K effectors and simultaneously up-regulated the expression of tumor-suppressor p53. Moreover, a more anti-inflammatory expression profile was found in both malignant PCa cell lines. Altogether, these results shed light into possible mechanisms by which UC-MSC and CBS reduce PCa progression, further reinforcing their potential use as novel therapeutic agents in PCa.

Abstract
Investigating secular trends of ocular cancer registration in Iran. After acquiring Iranian national population-based cancer registry data, trends of age-standardised incidence rates (ASIR) of ocular cancers and annual percent changes (APC) between 2004 and 2016 were analysed in age groups, gender, topography and morphology types with joinpoint regression analysis. Age, period, and cohort effects on incidence rates were estimated by age-period-cohort model. Geographic distribution of ASIR was assessed using GIS. Overall ASIR of ocular cancers was 16.04/100,000 (95% CI 15.77-16.32). Joinpoint regression analysis showed a significant increase of ASIR between 2004 and 2009 for males (APC = 5.5, 95% CI 0.9-10.2), ages over 50 years (APC = 5.2, 1.2-9.4), skin/canthus/adnexal cancers (APC = 4.2, 0.8-7.7), and carcinomas/adenocarcinomas (APC = 4.3, 0.6-8.1); however, between 2009 and 2016 a declining trend was observed in all investigated variables. ASIR of retinoblastoma was significantly increased (averaged APC = 20.7, 9-33.7) between 2004 and 2016. age-period-cohort analyses showed that incidence rates of ocular cancers significantly increased with aging, time periods, and birth cohort effects (p < 0.001). ASIR varied from 6.7/100,000 to 21.7/100,000 in Iran. Excepting retinoblastoma, all ocular cancer incidence trends were downward over a 13-year period; however, it was increasing between 2004 and 2009 cancer. ASIR was significant aging in Iran.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study characterized an acidic polysaccharide (OHC-LDPA) isolated from the medicinal and edible homologous plant Onosma hookeri Clarke var. longiforum Duthie. The structure of OHC-LDPA was elucidated based on the analysis of infrared, one-/two-dimensional nuclear magnetic resonance, and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry data. The immunostimulatory effects of OHC-LDPA were identified by both in vitro and in vivo models. RESULTS The structure of OHC-LDPA was elucidated as a typical pectin polysaccharide, consisting of galacturonic acid, galactose, arabinose, and rhamnose as the primary sugars, with linear galacturonic acid as the main chain and arabinogalacturonic acid as the main branched components. OHC-LDPA could significantly stimulate the proliferation and phagocytosis of RAW264.7 macrophages and the release of nitric oxide in vitro. Also, it could accelerate the recovery of spleen and thymus indexes, enhance the splenic lymphocyte proliferation responses, and restore the levels of interleukin-2, interleukin-10, interferon-γ, and immunoglobulin G in the serum in a cyclophosphamide-induced immunosuppressed-mice model. In addition, OHC-LDPA could restore the intestinal mucosal immunity and reduce the inflammatory damage. CONCLUSION OHC-LDPA could improve the immunity both in vitro and in vivo and could be used as a potential immunostimulant agent. © 2022 Society of Chemical Industry.

Abstract
Breast cancer is the most frequent malignant neoplasm in females. While conventional treatments such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy are available, they are highly invasive and toxic to oncological patients. Melatonin is a promising molecule for the treatment of breast cancer with antitumor effects on tumorigenesis and tumor progression. The aim of this systematic review was to synthesize knowledge about the antitumor effect of melatonin on breast cancer in experimental models and propose the main mechanisms of action already described in relation to the processes regulated by melatonin. PubMed, Web of Science, and Embase databases were used. The inclusion criteria were in vitro and in vivo experimental studies that used different formulations of melatonin as a treatment for breast cancer, without year or language restrictions. Risk of bias for studies was assessed using the Systematic Review Center for Laboratory Animal Experimentation (SYRCLE) tool. Data from selected articles were presented as narrative descriptions and tables. Seventy-five articles on different breast cancer cell lines and experimental models treated with melatonin alone, or in combination with other compounds were included. Melatonin showed antitumor effects on proliferative pathways related to the cell cycle and tumorigenesis, tumor death, angiogenesis, and tumor metastasis, as well as on oxidative stress and immune regulatory pathways. These effects were either dependent or independent of melatonin receptors. Herein, we clarify the antitumor action of melatonin on different tumorigenic processes in breast cancer in experimental models. Abstract
Background There are numerous articles investigating whether C-reactive protein to albumin ratio (CAR) is significant for predicting prognosis of cancer cases receiving immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), whereas the results were inconsistent. We thus retrieved the literature and conducted the present meta-analysis for clarifying relation of CAR with survival outcomes among ICI-treated cancer patients. Methods Through search against the Web of Science, PubMed, Cochrane Library, and Embase databases was carried out. The search was updated on 11 December 2022. This work later determined the combined hazard ratios (HRs) together with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for estimating CAR for its prognostic efficiency for overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) in cancer patients receiving ICIs. Results A total of 11 studies consisting of 1,321 cases were enrolled into the present meta-analysis. As revealed by combined data, the increased CAR level markedly predicted dismal OS (HR = 2.79, 95% CI = 1.66-4.67, p < 0.001) together with shortened PFS (HR = 1.95, 95% CI = 1.25-3.03, p = 0.003) among carcinoma cases using ICIs. The prognostic effect of CAR was not influenced by clinical stage or study center. Our result reliability was suggested by sensitivity analysis and publication bias test. Conclusions High CAR expression showed marked relation to worse survival outcomes among ICI-treated cancer cases. CAR is easily available and cost effective, which can be the potential biomarker for selecting cancer cases benefiting from ICIs.

Abstract
Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) exhibit a length more than 200 nucleotides and they are characterized by non-coding RNAs (ncRNA) not encoded into proteins. Over the past few years, the role and development of lncRNAs have aroused the rising attention of researchers. To be specific, KCNQ1OT1, the KCNQ1 opposite strand/antisense transcript 1, is clearly classified as a regulatory ncRNA. KCNQ1OT1 is capable of interacting with miRNAs, RNAs and proteins, thereby affecting gene expression and various cell functions (e.g., cell proliferation, migration, epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), apoptosis, viability, autophagy and inflammation). KCNQ1OT1 is dysregulated in a wide range of human diseases (e.g., cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis and cataract), and it is speculated to act as a therapeutic target for treating various human diseases. On the whole, this review aims to explore the biological functions, underlying mechanisms and pathogenic roles of KCNQ1OT1 in human diseases.

Abstract
Cancer is one of the foremost causes of death globally. Late-stage presentation, inaccessible diagnosis, and treatment are common challenges in developed countries. Detection, enumeration of Circulating Tumor Cells (CTC) as early as possible can reportedly lead to more effective treatment. The isolation of CTC at an early stage is challenging due to the low probability of its presence in peripheral blood. In this study, we propose a novel two-stage, label-free, rapid, and continuous CTC separation device based on hydrodynamic inertial focusing and dielectrophoretic separation. The dominance and differential of wall-induced inertial lift force and Dean drag force inside a curved microfluidic channel results in size-based separation of Red Blood Cells (RBC) and platelets (size between 2-4 µm) from CTC and leukocytes (9-12.2 µm). A numerical model was used to investigate the mechanism of hydrodynamic inertial focusing in a curvilinear microchannel. Simulations were done with the RBCs, platelets, CTCs, and leukocytes (four major subtypes) to select the optimized value of the parameters in the proposed design. In first stage, the focusing behavior of microscale cells was studied to sort leukocytes and CTCs from RBCs, and platelets while viable CTCs were separated from leukocytes based on their inherent electrical properties using dielectrophoresis in the second stage. The proposed design of the device was evaluated for CTC separation efficiency using numerical simulations. This study considered the influence of critical factors like aspect ratio, dielectrophoretic force, channel size, flow rate, separation efficiency, and shape on cell separation. Results show that the proposed device yields viable CTC with 99.5% isolation efficiency with a throughput of 12.2 ml/h.

Abstract
In this study, the LC-HRMS-assisted chemical profiling of Hyrtios erectus sponge led to the annotation of eleven major compounds (1-11). H. erectus-derived crude extract (HE) was tested in vitro for its antiproliferative activity against three human cancer cell lines, Hep-G2 (human liver cancer cell line), MCF-7 (breast cancer cell line), and Caco-2 (colon cancer cell line), before and after encapsulation within niosomes. Hyrtios erectus extract showed moderate in vitro antiproliferative activities towards the studied cell lines with IC50 values 18.5 ± 0.08, 15.2 ± 0.11, and 13.4 ± 0.12, respectively. The formulated extract-containing niosomes (size 142.3 ± 10.3 nm, PDI 0.279, and zeta potential 22.8 ± 1.6) increased the in vitro antiproliferative activity of the entrapped extract significantly (IC50 8.5 ± 0.04, 4.1 ± 0.07, and 3.4 ± 0.05, respectively). A subsequent computational chemical study was performed to build a sponge-metabolite-targets-cancer diseases network, by focusing on targets that possess anticancer activity toward the three cancer types: breast, colon, and liver. Pubchem, BindingDB, and DisGenet databases were used to build the network. Shinygo and KEGG databases in addition to FunRich software were used for gene ontology and functional analysis. The computational analysis linked the metabolites to 200 genes among which 147 genes related to cancer and only 64 genes are intersected in the three cancer types. The study proved that the co-occurrence of compounds 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, and 10 are the most probable compounds possessing cytotoxic activity due to large number of connections to the intersected cytotoxic genes with edges range from 9-14. The targets possess the anticancer effect through Pathways in cancer, Endocrine resistance and Proteoglycans in cancer as mentioned by KEGG and ShinyGo 7.1 databases. This study introduces niosomes as a promising strategy to promote the cytotoxic potential of H. erectus extract.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In 1967, concerns about the carcinogenic potential of psychedelics arose after a study reported chromosomal damage in human leukocytes following in vitro lysergic acid (LSD) exposure. Worries were further heightened by subsequent reports of leukemia and other cancers in LSD users. Additional investigations of psychedelics' effects on chromosomes were published over the next decade, with the majority suggesting these concerns were unfounded. However, the relationship between psychedelics and cancer has been explored only minimally from an epidemiological perspective. AIMS To determine whether associations exist between psychedelic use and either lifetime cancer or hematologic cancer diagnoses. METHODS We analyzed data from adult participants in the 2015-2019 administrations of the National Survey on Drug Use and Health for associations between lifetime use of psychedelics and lifetime diagnosis of either any cancer or hematologic cancer. RESULTS We identified no associations between lifetime psychedelic use and either lifetime cancer diagnosis or hematologic cancer diagnosis. Sub-analyses of lifetime lysergamide, phenethylamine, and tryptamine use also revealed no associations with lifetime cancer or hematologic cancer diagnosis. CONCLUSIONS While laboratory studies and case reports from the 1960s and 1970s generated concerns about psychedelics' carcinogenic potential, this analysis of recent epidemiological data does not support an association between psychedelic use and development of cancer in general or hematologic cancer. Important study limitations to consider include a lack of information about psychedelic dosage, number of lifetime psychedelic exposures, and the temporal relationship between psychedelic use and cancer diagnosis.

Abstract
Great advances in cancer treatment have been undertaken in the last years as a consequence of the development of new antitumoral drugs able to target cancer cells with decreasing side effects and a better understanding of the behavior of neoplastic cells during invasion and metastasis. Specifically, drug delivery systems (DDS) based on the use of hydroxyapatite nanoparticles (HAp NPs) are gaining attention and merit a comprehensive review focused on their potential applications. These are derived from the intrinsic properties of HAp (e.g., biocompatibility and biodegradability), together with the easy functionalization and easy control of porosity, crystallinity and morphology of HAp NPs. The capacity to tailor the properties of DLS based on HAp NPs has well-recognized advantages for the control of both drug loading and release. Furthermore, the functionalization of NPs allows a targeted uptake in tumoral cells while their rapid elimination by the reticuloendothelial system (RES) can be avoided. Advances in HAp NPs involve not only their use as drug nanocarriers but also their employment as nanosystems for magnetic hyperthermia therapy, gene delivery systems, adjuvants for cancer immunotherapy and nanoparticles for cell imaging.

Abstract
At the end of 36 years after the Chernobyl disaster, about 5 million people still live in the radioactively contaminated territories of Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus, and the density of radioactive contamination by Cesium-137 and Strontium-90 will remain radiologically significant for decades. We assessed cervical and endometrial cancer primary incidence (new cases) in the female population from the Bryansk region living in conditions of chemical, radioactive, and combined environmental contamination for 2000−2020. We found a significant increase in the long-term trend in the primary incidence of cervical and endometrial cancer in all the studied groups, regardless of the environmental conditions of residence (p < 0.00001). We did not find statistically significant differences in the incidence of cervical and endometrial cancer in women, regardless of the level of chemical, radioactive, and combined environmental contamination. However, women living in environmentally unfavorable areas (in total, in the territories of chemical, radioactive, and combined contamination) are statistically significantly more likely to develop endometrial cancer in terms of relative risk compared to environmentally safe (control) areas (RR 1.17 (1.08−1.27)). No such pattern was found for cervix cancer. It should be noted, since environmentally safe (control) areas have a certain level of contamination (albeit low), RR is underestimated.

Value of Cytokine Expression in Early Diagnosis and Prognosis of Tumor Metastasis. JOURNAL OF ONCOLOGY 2022; 2022:8112190. Abstract
Objective To investigate the association of the plasma level of cytokines and blood routine indexes with clinical characteristics in patients with cancer. Methods We analyzed plasma samples derived from 134 cancer patients. Interleukins (IL) 1β, 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12p70, 17, IFN-γ, IFN-α, and TNF-α, and blood routine indexes were measured. The associations of the levels of cytokine and blood routine indexes with demographic and clinical characteristics of cancer patients were analyzed. Partial least-squares discriminant analysis was employed to identify cancer metastasis using these plasma cytokine metrics as input. We compared the predictive effectiveness of numeric machine learning algorithms using these indexes and showed a promising model implemented with random forest. Results Plasma levels of IL-6 and IL-8 in cancer patients with metastases were higher than those without metastases (P < 0.05). Cancer patients without metastases had significantly higher levels of plasma IL-12p70 and percentage of lymphocytes as compared with those with metastases (P < 0.05). Our random forest model showed the highest prediction performance (upper quantile AUC, 0.885) among the six machine learning algorithms we evaluated. Conclusion Our findings suggest that plasma levels of IL-6, IL-8, and IL-12p70 and the percentage of lymphocytes could predict the recurrence, metastasis, and progression of cancer. Our findings will provide guidance for tumor monitoring and treatment.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION: Controversy exists regarding the association of apolipoprotein B mRNA editing enzyme catalytic subunit 3B APOBEC3B, (A3B) overexpression and poor prognosis, metastasis, and chemotherapy drug resistance in cancers. Here we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to determine its prognostic value and clinicopathological features in breast cancer and some other malignancies. MATERIALS AND METHODS: PubMed, Scopus, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, and EMBASE were searched up to Feb 2022 for the association of A3B with breast, ovarian, gastrointestinal and lung cancers. The pooled hazard ratios with 95% confidence interval (CI) were evaluated to assess disease-free survival (DFS), overall survival (OS), and recurrence-free survival (RFS) in cancers under study. RESULTS: Over 3700 patients were included in this meta-survey. Elevated levels of A3B were significantly related to low OS (pooled HR = 1.30; 95% CI:1.09–1.55, P < 0.01), poor DFS (pooled HR = 1.66; 95% CI:1.17–2.35, P < 0.01) and poor RFS (HR = 1.51, 95% CI:1.11–2.04, P = 0.01). Subgroup analysis revealed that high A3B expression was associated with poor OS in lung (HR = 1.85, 95% CI: 1.40–2.45), and breast cancers (HR = 1.38, 95% CI: 1.00–1.89). High expression of A3B did not display any significant association with clinicopathologic features. CONCLUSION: APOBEC3B overexpression is related to poor OS, DFS and RFS only in some cancer types and no generalized role could be predicted for all cancers.

Abstract
There is a need to improve diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to enhance the prognosis of breast cancer, the most common malignancy worldwide. Membrane lipid biosynthesis is a hot biological pathway in current cancer research. It is unclear whether membrane lipid biosynthesis is involved in the prognosis of BRCA. With LASSO regression, a 14-gene prediction model was constructed using data from the TCGA-BRCA cohort. The prediction model includes GPAA1, PIGF, ST3GAL1, ST6GALNAC4, PLPP2, ELOVL1, HACD1, SGPP1, PRKD2, VAPB, CERS2, SGMS2, ALDH3B2, and HACD3. BRCA patients from the TCGA-BRCA cohort were divided into two risk subgroups based on the model. Kaplan–Meier survival curves showed that patients with lower risk scores had significantly improved overall survival (P=2.49e − 09). In addition, risk score, age, stage, and TNM classification were used to predict mortality in BRCA patients. In addition, the 14 genes in the risk model were analyzed for gene variation, methylation level, drug sensitivity, and immune cell infiltration, and the miRNA-mRNA network was constructed. Afterward, the THPA website then analyzed the protein expression of 14 of these risk model genes in normal and pathological BRCA tissues. In conclusion, the membrane lipid biosynthesis-related risk model and nomogram can be used to predict BRCA clinical prognosis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND About 30% of cancer survivors suffer from chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) ≥6 months after completion of chemotherapy. This condition, for which treatment options are scarce, comes with limitations in daily life functioning and decreased quality of life. The current study examines the effectiveness of an online self-help intervention based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in comparison to a waiting list condition (WLC) to deal with CIPN. In addition, it examines which factors moderate effects and to what extent the effects differ between guided and unguided ACT intervention. METHODS A two-parallel, non-blinded randomized controlled trial (RCT) will be carried out. Adult cancer survivors who experience painful CIPN for at least 3 months and completed chemotherapy at least 6 months ago will be recruited (n=146). In the intervention condition, participants will follow an 8-week self-management course containing 6 modules regarding psychoeducation and ACT processes, including therapeutic email guidance. By means of text and experiential exercises, supplemented with illustrations, metaphors, and audio files, people will learn to carry out value-oriented activities in their daily life with pain. Participants will learn new ways of coping with pain, including reducing pain avoidance and increasing pain acceptance. Participants in the WLC will be invited to follow the intervention without therapeutic guidance 5 months after start. Pain interference is the primary outcome, while psychological distress, quality of life, CIPN symptom severity, pain intensity, psychological flexibility, mindfulness skills, values-based living, and pain catastrophizing will serve as secondary outcomes. All outcome measures will be evaluated at inclusion and baseline, early-intervention, mid-intervention, post-treatment, and 3- and 6-month post-treatment. Qualitative interviews will be conducted post-treatment regarding experiences, usage, usability, content fit, and satisfaction with the intervention. DISCUSSION This study will provide valuable information on the effectiveness of an online self-help intervention based on ACT versus WLC for chronic painful CIPN patients. Abstract
Objective To investigate the association between pretreatment prognostic nutritional index (PNI) and clinical survival outcomes for advanced-stage cancer patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs). Methods We conducted a comprehensive literature search to identify eligible studies concerning the relationship between pretreatment PNI and survival outcomes in advanced cancer patients treated with ICIs. Published data were extracted and pooled odds ratio (pOR) for objective response rate (ORR), disease control rate (DCR), and pooled hazard ratio (pHR) for overall survival (OS), progressive-free survival (PFS), along with 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs) were calculated. Results Twelve studies with 1,359 participants were included in our study. A higher level of PNI indicated a greater ORR (pOR = 2.17, 95% CI = 1.52–3.10) and favorable DCR (pOR = 2.48, 95% CI = 1.87–3.29). Low PNI was associated with a shorter OS (pHR = 2.24, 95% CI = 1.57–3.20) and unfavorable PFS (pHR = 1.61, 95% CI = 1.37–1.88). Conclusion Low PNI might be an effective biomarker of poor tumor response and adverse prognosis of advanced cancer patients with ICIs. Further studies are needed to verify the prognostic value of PNI in clinical practice.

Abstract
Chemotherapeutics such as platinum-based drugs are commonly used to treat several cancer types, but unfortunately, their use is limited by several side effects, such as high degradation of the drug before entering the cells, off-target organ toxicity and development of drug resistance. An interesting strategy to overcome such limitations is the development of nanocarriers that could enhance cellular accumulation in target cells in addition to decreasing associated drug toxicity in normal cells. Here, we aim to prepare and characterize a graphene-oxide-based 2D nanoplatform functionalised using highly branched, eight-arm polyethylene-glycol, which, owing to its high number of available functional groups, offers considerable loading capacity over its linear modalities and represents a highly potent nanodelivery platform as a versatile system in cancer therapy. The obtained results show that the GO@PEG carrier allows for the use of lower amounts of Pt drug compared to a Pt-free complex while achieving similar effects. The nanoplatform accomplishes very good cellular proliferation inhibition in osteosarcoma, which is strictly related to increased cellular uptake. This enhanced cellular internalization is also observed in glioblastoma, although it is less pronounced due to differences in metabolism compared to osteosarcoma. The proposed GO@PEG nanoplatform is also promising for the inhibition of migration, especially in highly invasive breast carcinoma (i.e., MDA-MB-231 cell line), neutralizing the metastatic process. The GO@PEG nanoplatform thus represents an interesting tool in cancer treatment that can be specifically tailored to target different cancers.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To describe the mortality trend from all cancers and the five main ones in the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil, from 2000 to 2015. METHODS This is a descriptive, ecological, time series study, with data referring to deaths of residents of Mato Grosso due to cancer (ICD-10 codes C00 to C97), from the Mortality Information System (SIM). Time trend analyses of the standardized mortality rate from all cancers and five specific cancers (lung, prostate, breast, colorectal and cervical) for the state and according to macroregion (South, West, North, East and Center-North) were performed using linear regression (p<0.05). RESULTS From 2000 to 2015, 28,525 deaths from all cancers in residents of the state of Mato Grosso were recorded. An increasing trend was observed for all cancers, in addition to lung, breast and colorectal cancers. The South and North macroregions showed an increasing trend for all cancers, breast and colorectal, and Center-North for breast and colorectal. East showed an increasing trend for all cancers, prostate and colorectal, and decreasing for cervical. CONCLUSION In the state of Mato Grosso, there was an increasing trend in mortality for all cancers and from specific ones, with emphasis on breast and colorectal cancer in most macroregions.

Abstract
The abnormal expression of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) target genes is closely related to the occurrence, metastasis, and invasion of tumor cells and is an inhibitor of their apoptosis. In recent years, the unique biodiversity in the marine environment has aroused great interest. Many studies indicate that some marine compounds exert anticancer effects on most common human tumors by modulating the NF-κB signaling pathway. In this study, 26 marine compounds that reduce cancer cell survival by suppressing the NF-κB signaling pathway were reviewed. They were derived from a wide range of sources, including sponges, fungi, algae and their derivatives or metabolites. These marine compounds exert antitumor effects through the canonical, noncanonical and atypical NF-κB signaling pathways; however, most of their anticancer targets and mechanisms remain unclear, and more research is needed in the future. Our article provides comprehensive information for researchers investigating the bioactivities of marine compounds and developing marine-derived anticancer drugs.
