Abstract
The introduction of heterostructures is a new approach in gas sensing due to their easy and quick transport of charges. Herein, facile hydrothermal and solid-state techniques are employed to synthesize an α-Fe2O3/Nb2O5 heterostructure. The morphology, microstructure, crystallinity and surface composition of the synthesized heterostructures are investigated by scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope, x-ray diffraction, x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller analyses. The successful fabrication of the heterostructures was achieved via the mutual incorporation of α-Fe2O3 nanorods with Nb2O5 interconnected nanoparticles (INPs). A sensor based on the α-Fe2O3(0.09)/Nb2O5 heterostructure with a high surface area exhibited enhanced gas-sensing features, maintaining high selectivity and sensitivity, and a considerable recovery percentage towards ethanol gas. The sensing response of the α-Fe2O3(0.09)/Nb2O5 heterostructure at lower operating temperature (160 °C) is around nine times higher than a pure Nb2O5 (INP) sensor at 180 °C with the flow of 100 ppm ethanol gas. The sensors also show excellent selectivity, good long-term stability and a rapid response/recovery time (8s/2s, respectively) to ethanol. The superior electronic conductivity and upgraded sensitivity performance of gas sensors based on the α-Fe2O3(0.09)/Nb2O5 heterostructure are attributed due to its unique structural features, high specific surface area and the synergic effect of the n-n heterojunction. The promising results demonstrate the potential application of the α-Fe2O3(0.09)/Nb2O5 heterostructure as a good sensing material for the fabrication of ethanol sensors.

Abstract
In this paper, Fe3O4@ppy-Pt core-shell nanoparticles (NPs) could be produced and utilized for the development of a novel electrochemical sensor to detect 6-mercaptopurine (6-MP). 6-MP determination was examined by cyclic voltammetry (CV), chronoamperometry (CHA), linear sweep voltammetry (LSV), and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) at Fe3O4@ppy-Pt core-shell NPs modified screen printed electrode (Fe3O4@ppy-Pt/SPE) in phosphate buffered solution (PBS). The outcomes obtained from DPV demonstrated that the Fe3O4@ppy-Pt/SPE proved a linear concentration range among 0.04 and 330.0 μM having a detection limit of 10.0 nM for 6-MP. Also, modified electrode was satisfactorily utilized to detect 6-MP in the presence of 6-thioguanine (6-TG). This sensor showed two separate oxidative peaks at 530 mV for 6-MP and at 730 mV for 6-TG with a peak potential separation of 200 mV which was large enough for simultaneous detection of the two anticancer drugs. In addition, the proposed sensor presented long-term stability, good repeatability, and excellent reproducibility. Finally, the modified electrode demonstrated satisfactory outcomes while used in real samples, proposing the appropriate potential of Fe3O4@ppy-Pt/SPE in the case of clinical diagnosis, biological samples and pharmaceutical compounds analysis.

Abstract
The facile hydrothermal method was used to prepare low-dimensional doped Ag2O/Sb2O3 nanoparticles (NPs) at low temperature in alkaline medium. The calcined NPs were characterized in detail by FTIR, UV/vis, FESEM, XPS, EDS, and XRD. A thin layer of Ag2O/Sb2O3 NPs was deposited onto a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) using Nafion (5% Nafion suspension in ethanol) conducting binder, which formed the working electrode of the selective 3-methoxyphenol electrochemical sensor probe. The proposed chemical sensor exhibits high sensitivity, long-term stability, and enhanced electrochemical responses towards 3-methoxyphenol. Response to 3-methoxyphenol is linear over the concentration range (LDR) of 0.09 nM to 0.09 mM. The analytical parameters of the sensor such as sensitivity, stability, response time, linearity, LDR, robustness, selectivity etc. were evaluated by an electrochemical approach. The sensor probe fabricated with Ag2O/Sb2O3 NPs seems to be a promising candidate for effective and reliable electrochemical detection of hazardous and carcinogenic chemicals in the environment and health care fields in large scales.

Abstract
Herein, we report the growth of In-doped ZnO (IZO) nanomaterials, i.e., stepped hexagonal nanorods and nanodisks by the thermal evaporation process using metallic zinc and indium powders in the presence of oxygen. The as-grown IZO nanomaterials were investigated by several techniques in order to examine their morphological, structural, compositional and optical properties. The detailed investigations confirmed that the grown nanomaterials, i.e., nanorods and nanodisks possess well-crystallinity with wurtzite hexagonal phase and grown in high density. The room-temperature PL spectra exhibited a suppressed UV emissions with strong green emissions for both In-doped ZnO nanomaterials, i.e., nanorods and nanodisks. From an application point of view, the grown IZO nanomaterials were used as a potential scaffold to fabricate sensitive phenyl hydrazine chemical sensors based on the I-V technique. The observed sensitivities of the fabricated sensors based on IZO nanorods and nanodisks were 70.43 μA·mM-1 cm-2 and 130.18 μA·mM-1 cm-2, respectively. For both the fabricated sensors, the experimental detection limit was 0.5 μM, while the linear range was 0.5 μM-5.0 mM. The observed results revealed that the simply grown IZO nanomaterials could efficiently be used to fabricate highly sensitive chemical sensors.

Abstract
Metallic nanostructures have inspired extensive research over several decades, particularly within the field of nanoelectronics and increasingly in plasmonics. Due to the limitations of conventional lithography methods, the development of bottom-up fabricated metallic nanostructures has become more and more in demand. The remarkable development of DNA-based nanostructures has provided many successful methods and realizations for these needs, such as chemical DNA metallization via seeding or ionization, as well as DNA-guided lithography and casting of metallic nanoparticles by DNA molds. These methods offer high resolution, versatility and throughput and could enable the fabrication of arbitrarily-shaped structures with a 10-nm feature size, thus bringing novel applications into view. In this review, we cover the evolution of DNA-based metallic nanostructures, starting from the metallized double-stranded DNA for electronics and progress to sophisticated plasmonic structures based on DNA origami objects.

Abstract
Single crystal SnO2 nanobelts (SnO2 NBs) and La-SnO2 nanobelts (La-SnO2 NBs) were synthesized by thermal evaporation. Both a single SnO2 NB sensor and a single La-SnO2 NB sensor were developed and their sensing properties were investigated. It is found that the single La-SnO2 NB sensor had a high sensitivity of 8.76 to ethanediol at a concentration of 100 ppm at 230 °C, which is the highest sensitivity of a single SnO2 NB to ethanediol among three kinds of volatile organic (VOC) liquids studied, including ethanediol, ethanol, and acetone. The La-SnO2 NBs sensor also exhibits a high sensitivity, good selectivity and long-term stability with prompt response time to ethanediol. The mechanism behind the enhanced sensing performance of La-doped SnO2 nanobelts is discussed.
