Abstract
A series of easy-to-prepare and modular chiral P,S-bidentate phosphoramidites were synthesized. With respect to Pd(II), these ligands showed the ability to form stable P,S-chelate allylic complexes. The structures of the ligands and their complexes were confirmed by 2D NMR spectroscopy and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. These chiral inducers provided up to 99% ee in the Pd-catalyzed asymmetric allylic substitution of (E)-1,3-diphenylallyl acetate with C- and N-nucleophiles and up to 94% ee in the Pd-mediated allylic alkylation of cinnamyl esters with β-ketoesters and 2,5-dimethylpyrrole. Furthermore, up to 92% ee with quantitative conversion and chemo- and regioselectivity was achieved in the rare reaction between 2-(diethoxyphosphoryl)-1-phenylallyl acetate and aniline. The effects of the structural parameters, reaction conditions and ligand-to-metal ratio on the catalytic results are discussed. It was shown that the ligands surpass their analogues with different denticity.

Abstract
Pd-catalyzed asymmetric Suzuki-Miyaura couplings of 3-methyl-2-bromophenylamides, 3-methyl-2-bromo-1-nitrobenzene and 1-naphthaleneboronic acids have been successfully developed and the corresponding axially chiral biaryl compounds were obtained in very high yields (up to 99%) with good enantioselectivities (up to 88% ee) under mild conditions. The chiral-bridged biphenyl monophosphine ligands developed by our group exhibit significant superiority to the naphthyl counterpart MOP in both reactivity and enantioselectivity control. The large steric hindrance from π-conjugated ortho-substituents of the bromobenzene substrates and the Pd···O interaction between carbonyl and palladium seem essential to achieve high enantioselectivity.

Abstract
A palladium-catalyzed, enantioselective, aryl-aryl cross-coupling reaction using 1-naphthyldimethylsilanolates and chiral bis-hydrazone ligands has been developed. A family of glyoxal bis-hydrazone ligands containing various 2,5-diarylpyrrolidine groups was prepared to evaluate the influence of ligand structure on the rate and enantioselectivity of the cross-coupling. New synthetic routes to the 1-amino-2,5-diarylpyrrolidines were developed to enable the structure/reactivity-selectivity studies. Role reversal experiments of aryldimethylsilanolates and aryl bromides result in biaryl products with the same configuration and similar enantioselectivities implying that reductive elimination is the stereodetermining step. The origin of stereoselectivity is rationalized through computational modeling of diarylpalldium(II) complex which occurs through a conrotatory motion for the two aryl groups undergoing C-C bond formation.

Abstract
We report efficient syntheses of axially chiral biaryl amides in yields ranging from 80-92%, and with enantioselectivity in the range 88-94% ee employing an asymmetric Suzuki-Miyaura process with Pd(OAc)(2) and KenPhos as ligand. These studies demonstrate that electron-rich and electron-deficient o-halobenzamides can be efficiently coupled with 2-methyl-1-naphthylboronic acid and 2-ethoxy-1-naphthylboronic acid. The yields and selectivities of the reactions are independent of the nature of halogen substituent on the benzamide coupling partner. Our investigations demonstrate that axially chiral heterocyclic and biphenyl compounds can also be synthesized with this methodology. We also report computational studies used to determine the origin of stereoselectivity during the selectivity-determining reductive elimination step of the related coupling of tolyl boronic acid with naphthylphosphonate bromide that was reported in a previous publication (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2000, 122, 12051-12052). These studies indicate that the stereoselectivity arises from a combination of weak -(C)H..O interactions as well as steric interactions between the tolyl and naphthylphosphonate addends in the transition state for C-C coupling.

Abstract
Asymmetric catalysis with transition-metal complexes is the basis for a vast array of stereoselective transformations and has changed the face of modern synthetic chemistry. Key to this success has been the design of chiral ligands to control the regio-, diastereo-, and enantioselectivity. Phosphoramidites have emerged as a highly versatile and readily accessible class of chiral ligands. Their modular structure enables the formation of ligand libraries and easy fine-tuning for a specific catalytic reaction. Phosphoramidites frequently show exceptional levels of stereocontrol, and their monodentate nature is essential in combinatorial catalysis, where a ligand-mixture approach is used. In this Review, recent developments in asymmetric catalysis with phosphoramidites used as ligands are discussed, with a focus on the formation of carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom bonds.

Abstract
Glyoxal bis-hydrazone derived from (S,S)-1-amino-2,5-diphenylpyrrolidine behaves as an excellent ligand for phosphine-free, asymmetric Suzuki-Miyaura cross couplings, thereby affording a variety of enantiomerically enriched biaryls with different substitution patterns. The high catalytic activity of the [PdCl2(bis-hydrazone)] complex allows reactions to be performed at room temperature, affording products with excellent enantioselectivities in all cases.
