Abstract
GANT61-D is an important hedgehog pathway inhibitor and an interesting ligand candidate for metal coordination. The first examples of metal complexes of the potent hedgehog pathway inhibitor GANT61-D are described. The reaction of Ni(II), Pd(II), and Pt(II) precursors with the hedgehog pathway inhibitor GANT61-D gave [NiII(GANT61-D)(OH2)3(μ2-SO4)(μ3-SO4)] (1), [PdII(Cl)(GANT61-D)]Cl (2), [PtII(Cl)(GANT61-D)]Cl, and [PtII(CBDCA-2H)(GANT61-D)]. X-ray crystal structure analysis revealed that GANT61-D is a versatile N-donor ligand that can act as a bidentate ligand via the diaminopropane (DAP) N atoms or a tridentate ligand via the DAP N atoms and one dimethylaniline N atom. Protonation constants of the GANT61-D ligand in water and in a 60:40 (w/w) dimethyl sulfoxide-water solvent mixture were determined. Potentiometric and spectroscopic data on the NiII(GANT61-D) system indicate the formation of octahedral 1:1 species with medium stability in solution. 1 and 2 exhibited noteworthy in vitro cytotoxicity against medulloblastoma cancer cells.

Abstract
The crystal structures and photophysical properties of mononuclear [(RC N N)PtX](ClO4)n ((RC N N)=3-(6'-(2''-naphthyl)-2'-pyridyl)isoquinolinyl and derivatives; X=Cl, n=0; X=PPh(3) or PCy(3), n=1), dinuclear [(RC N N)2Pt2(mu-dppm)](ClO4)2 (dppm=bis(diphenyphosphino)methyl) and trinuclear [(RC N N)3Pt3(mu-dpmp)](ClO4)3 (dpmp=bis(diphenylphosphinomethyl)phenylphosphine) complexes are presented. The crystal structures show extensive intra- and/or intermolecular pipi interactions; the two (RC N N) planes of [(RC N N)2Pt2(mu-dppm)](ClO4)2 (R=Ph, 3,5-tBu2Ph or 3,5-(CF3)2Ph) are in a nearly eclipsed configuration with torsion angles close to 0 degrees. [(RC N N)PtCl], [(RC N N)2Pt2(mu-dppm)](ClO4)2, and [(RC N N)3Pt3(mu-dpmp)](ClO4)3 are strongly emissive with quantum yields of up to 0.68 in CH2Cl2 or MeCN solution at room temperature. The [(RC N N)PtCl] complexes have a high thermal stability (T(d)=470-549 degrees C). High-performance light-emitting devices containing [(RC N N)PtCl] (R=H or 3,5-tBu2Ph) as a light-emitting material have been fabricated; they have a maximum luminance of 63,000 cd m(-2) and CIE 1931 coordinates at x=0.36, y=0.54.

Abstract
The synthesis and photophysical properties of the robust Pt(II) emitters [(O--N--N)PtX] (HO--N--N = 6-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-2,2'-bipyridine and its derivatives; X = Cl, Br, I, or -CC-Ph) are reported. Yellow electroluminescent devices based on these materials display a low turn-on voltage (1 cd m(-2) at 4 V) and a high luminance (37000 cd m(-2)). Complex 2e, [(F(t)Bu2O--N--N)PtCl], has the highest thermal stability and gave the best OLED.

Abstract
The crystal structures of the series of four ternary complexes, [Pd(phen)(2,6-PDCA)].4H(2)O (1) (phen=1,10-phenanthroline; 2,6-PDCA=2,6-pyridinedicarboxylic acid), [Pd(bpy)(2,3-PDCA)].3H(2)O (2) (bpy=2,2'-bipyridineand; 2,3-PDCA=2,3-pyridinedicarboxylic acid) and [Pd(phen)(PHT)].2.5H(2)O (3) (PHT=o-phthalic acid ) and [Pd(bpy)(PHT)].1.5H(2)O (4), are determined and the coordination modes of palladium(II) ternary complexes are characterized. All complexes take the mononuclear Pd(II) complexes, in which central Pd(II) atom of each complex has a similar distorted square-planar four coordination geometry. In all complexes, the aromatic heterocyclic compounds, phen and bpy, behave as a bidentate N, N' ligand. In the complex 1 and 2, 2,6-PDCA and 2,3-PDCA behave as a bidentate N, O ligand, and in complex 3 and 4, PHT behaves as a bidentate O, O' ligand.

Abstract
The mononuclear cyclometalated Pd(II) complexes [Pd(L1)X] (HL1 = 6-phenyl-2,2'-bipyridine; X = Cl, la; Br, 1b; I, 1c), [Pd(L1)PPh3]+ (1d), [Pd(L2-5)Cl] [2a-5a, HL2-5 = 4-(aryl)-6-phenyl-2,2'-bipyridine; aryl = phenyl (2), 4-chlorophenyl (3), 4-tolyl (4), 4-methoxyphenyl (5)] and the binuclear derivatives [Pd2(L1-5)2(mu-dppm)]2+ (1e-5e, dppm = bis(diphenylphosphino)methane) and [Pd2(L1)2(mu-dppCs)]2+, (1f, dppC5 = 1,5-bis(diphenylphosphino)pentane) were prepared. The crystal structures of 1d(ClO4), 1e(ClO4)2 x DMF, and 2e(ClO4)2 have been determined by X-ray crystallography. The magnitude of the Pd-Pd distances in le and 2e (3.230(1) and 3.320(2) A, respectively) suggest minimal metal-metal interaction, although pi-stacking of the aromatic ligands (interplanar separations 3.34 and 3.35 A, respectively) is evident. All complexes display low-energy UV absorptions at lambda approximately 390 nm, which are tentatively assigned to 1MLCT transitions; red shifts resulting from Pd-Pd interactions in the binuclear species are not apparent. The complexes in this work are non-emissive at 298 K, but the cationic derivatives exhibit intense luminescence at 77 K. The structured emissions of 1d and 1f in MeOH/EtOH glass (lambdamax 467-586 nm) and all cationic species in the solid state (lambdamax 493-578 nm) are assigned to intraligand excited states. Complexes le-5e display dual emissions in MeOH/EtOH glass at 77 K, and the broad structureless bands at lambdamax 626-658 nm are attributed to pi-pi excimeric IL transitions. A comparison between the photophysical properties of Pd(II) and Pt(II) congeners is presented.
