Abstract
Blue perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs) are crucial avenues for achieving full-color displays and lighting based on perovskite materials. However, the relatively low external quantum efficiency (EQE) has hindered their progression towards commercial applications. Quasi-two-dimensional (quasi-2D) perovskites stand out as promising candidates for blue PeLEDs, with optimized control over low-dimensional phases contributing to enhanced radiative properties of excitons. Herein, the impact of organic molecular dopants on the crystallization of various n-phase structures in quasi-2D perovskite films. The results reveal that the highly reactive bis(4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)phosphine oxide (BTF-PPO) molecule could effectively restrain the formation of organic spacer cation-ordered layered perovskite phases through chemical reactions, simultaneously passivate those uncoordinated Pb2+ defects. Consequently, the prepared PeLEDs exhibited a maximum EQE of 16.6 % (@ 490 nm). The finding provides a new route to design dopant molecules for phase modulation in quasi-2D PeLEDs.

Abstract
Three short and efficient total syntheses of cassiarin C are reported, from a chromanone common key intermediate. A C-H activation strategy, under rhodium catalysis on its pivaloyl oxime, enabled the installation of the pyridine ring. Dehydrogenation of 8-O-methylcassiarin C afforded 8-O-methylcassiarin A. A kinetic experiment and DFT calculations of the intermediates helped to gain insight into the unusual site- and stereo-specific H/D exchange of cassiarin C in CD3OD.

Abstract
The ability of sodium hypophosphite to generate the phosphorus-centered radical, which can activate the carbon-halogen bond via the halogen atom transfer (XAT) is described. The hydroalkylation of nonactivated alkenes with methyl bromoacetate was performed using sodium hypophosphite as reducing agent under photocatalytic conditions. The key phosphorus centered radical is formed from the hypophosphite anion by hydrogen atom abstraction.

Abstract
Quantification of the stable isotopes within a compound aids forensic investigations as it provides a fingerprint which can determine that compound's source substrates, synthetic route, and possible mechanisms of degradation. Previous stable isotope studies have explored 13C and 2H measurements of the sarin precursors methylphosphonic dichloride (DC) and methylphosphonic difluoride (DF) as forensic signatures. However, these measurements required different sample preparations and measurement techniques. Orbitrap isotope ratio mass spectrometry (Orbitrap-IRMS) is a developing technique which can characterize multiple stable isotopes simultaneously. Here, we apply Orbitrap-IRMS to simultaneously observe the 13C and 2H content of methylphosphonic acid (MPA), the hydrolysis product of DC and DF, which can be used as a proxy for the isotopic content of DC and DF. Our method requires 20 min analyses and consumes ≈60 nmol of sample, with precisions of ≈0.9 ‰ (13C) and ≈3.6 ‰ (2H). We apply our method to both commercially acquired MPA and MPA obtained from the hydrolysis of commercially acquired DC. We validate our methods via comparison to elemental-analyzer isotope ratio mass spectrometry (EA-IRMS). The combined 13C and 2H measurement creates a more robust forensic tool than either isotope individually. Our results demonstrate the viability of Orbitrap-IRMS for chemical forensic measurements.

Abstract
Methods enabling the dechalcogenation of thiols or selenols have been investigated and developed for a long time in fields of research as diverse as the study of prebiotic chemistry, the engineering of fuel processing techniques, the study of biomolecule structures and function or the chemical synthesis of biomolecules. The dechalcogenation of thiol or selenol amino acids is nowadays a particularly flourishing area of research for being a pillar of modern chemical protein synthesis, when used in combination with thiol or selenol-based chemoselective peptide ligation chemistries. This review offers a comprehensive and scholarly overview of the field, emphasizing emerging trends and providing a detailed and critical mechanistic discussion of the dechalcogenation methods developed so far. Taking advantage of recently published reports, it also clarifies some unexpected desulfurization reactions that were observed in the past and for which no explanation was provided at the time. Additionally, the review includes a discussion on principal desulfurization methods within the framework of newly introduced green chemistry metrics and toolkits, providing a well-rounded exploration of the subject.

Abstract
The activation of poorly reactive substrates via strong chiral acids is a central topic in asymmetric ion pair catalysis these days. Despite highly successful scaffolds such as N-triflylphosphoramides, these catalysts either lack C2-symmetry or provide multiple H-bond acceptor sites, leading to lower ee values for certain reactions. We present BINOL-based diselenophosphoric acids (DSA) as an extremely promising alternative. Using an intertwined approach of synthesis and NMR studies, we developed a synthetic approach to DSA with up to 98 % NMR yield. The obtained acids provide both very high proton donor and proton acceptor properties, a bifunctionality, which is key to catalytic applications. Indeed, first reactivity test proved the much higher acidity of DSA and its ability to initiate Mukaiyama-Mannich reaction and protodesilylation of silyl ethers. Together with their C2-symmetry, the single donor and single acceptor situation, the decreased tendency of self-association, and the straightforward synthesis with potential 3,3'-substitution, the DSA provide all features ideal for the further development of ion pair catalysis.

Abstract
A microwave-assisted synthesis of dialkyl and cyclic H-phosphonates via bis(2,2,2 trifluoroethyl) phosphonate (BTFEP) is described. This method enables the synthesis of various cyclic H-phosphonates and hetero-substituted dialkyl H-phosphonates by simple alcoholysis under non-inert and additive-free conditions. Short reaction times and the requirement for only stoichiometric amounts of alcohol render this method attractive for synthetic applications.

Abstract
We have developed a Tf2O-mediated approach for the direct amination of either P(O)-OH or P(O)-H reagents with a variety of aliphatic or aromatic amines. Without the requirement of precious metals and toxic reagents, this protocol provides an alternative route to various phosphinamides and phosphoramides. The reaction proceeds under simple and mild conditions and can be effectively scaled up with similar efficiency.

Abstract
We successfully achieved the phosphorylation of secondary aromatic alcohols with H-phosphine oxides (less developed system) using phosphotungstic acid as a catalyst in dimethyl carbonate. The system was simple and environmentally friendly and showed better activity than traditional Lewis or Brønsted acids such as FeCl3, p-TsOH·H2O, etc., generating up to a 97% isolated yield. Control experiments indicated that the reaction did not occur through the radical pathway, and ethers and carbocation were the key intermediates in the pathway.

Abstract
With the increasing relevance of organophosphorus fluorine compounds in the pharmaceutical industry, their synthesis has attracted great attention. Herein, we report an efficient fluorination strategy for P(O)-H and P(O)-OH compounds using sulfuryl fluoride as the fluorination reagent. Avoiding the use of expensive or complex prepreparation reagents for fluoridation, this strategy could conveniently construct a variety of fluorophosphonates and phosphonofluoridates under mild conditions and without additional oxidants.

Abstract
A metal-free method for the dual activation of aryl phosphinate has been developed; the P-H and P-O bonds are sequentially activated by the Tf2O/DMSO system. Without the requirement of metals and unstable P-reagents, this one-pot procedure provides a convenient and practical access to a variety of aryl phosphonates. A mechanism involving twice generation of electrophilic P-species and two SN-processes is proposed on the basis of the control experiments.

Abstract
We investigated the differential oxidative and nucleophilic chemistry of reactive sulfur and oxygen anions (SSNO-, SNO-, NO2-, S42-, and HS-) using the simple reducing electrophile PPh2Cl. In the case of SSNO- reacting with PPh2Cl, a complex mixture of mono and diphosphorus products is formed exclusively in the P(V) oxidation state. We found that the phosphine stoichiometry dictates selectivity for oxidation to P=S/P=O products or transformation to P2 species. Interestingly, only chalcogen atoms are incorporated into the phosphorus products and, instead, nitrogen is released in the form of NO gas. Finally, we demonstrate that more reducing anions (S42- and HS-) also react with PPh2Cl with P=S bond formation as a key reaction driving force.

Abstract
The kinetic data indicate that the addition of tertiary phosphines to α-methylene lactones in acetic acid is strongly accelerated in comparison to the reactions of related open-chain esters. Six-membered α-methylene-δ-valerolactone exhibited a more pronounced rate increase than five-membered α-methylene-γ-butyrolactone. The use of α-methylene-γ-butyrolactam as a nitrogen analogue of α-methylene-γ-butyrolactone resulted in a total loss of the reaction acceleration. The observed reactivities were rationalized by DFT calculations at the RwB97XD/6-31+G(d,p) level of theory, showing that the intramolecular interaction between phosphonium and enolate oxygen centers provided by the locked s-cis-geometry of the heterocycles plays an important role in the stabilization of intermediate zwitterions. The reactivity is also controlled by the conformational flexibility of the heterocycle. The geometries of five-membered and, especially, six-membered lactone cycles are slightly changed upon the nucleophilic attack of phosphine, leading to the stabilizing stereoelectronic effect by the Ρ···Ο interaction. The addition of phosphine to α-methylene-γ-butyrolactam significantly distorts the initial geometry of the heterocycle, making the nucleophilic attack unfavorable. The application of the stereoelectronic effect to enhance the efficiency of the phosphine-catalyzed Michael and Pudovik reactions of α-methylene lactones was demonstrated.

Abstract
The steric tuning of a tridentate acridane-derived NNN pincer ligand allows for the isolation of a strictly T-shaped phosphine that exhibits ambiphilic reactivity. Well-defined phosphorus-centered reactivity towards nucleophiles and electrophiles is reported, contrasting with prior reports on this class of compounds. Reactions towards oxidants are also described. The latter result in the two-electron oxidation of the phosphorus atom from +III to +V and are accompanied by a strong geometric distortion of the NNN pincer ligand. By contrast, cooperative activation of E-H (HCl, HBcat, HOMe) bonds proceeds with retention of the phosphorus redox state. When using H2 O as a substrate, the reaction results in the full disassembly of H2 O to its constituent atoms, highlighting the potential of this platform for small molecule activation reactions.

Abstract
An efficient triflic anhydride promoted phosphorylation of ketone was disclosed, and vinylphosphorus compounds were prepared under solvent- and metal-free conditions. Both aryl and alkyl ketones could perform smoothly to give vinyl phosphonates in high to excellent yields. In addition, the reaction was easy to carry out and easy to scale up. Mechanistic studies suggested that this transformation might involve nucleophilic vinylic substitution or a nucleophilic addition-elimination mechanism.

Abstract
Copper-catalyzed dynamic kinetic resolution of secondary phosphine oxides has been successfully developed, providing a general method for the gram-scale enantioselective synthesis of P-stereogenic cyclic phosphine oxides with high yields and high enantioselectivities. The products could be easily reduced to the corresponding useful P(III)-stereogenic cyclic phosphines. A mechanism of the dynamic kinetic resolution involving the unusual rapid racemization of SPOs has been proposed.

Abstract
Phosphinylidenes are an important class of organophosphorus compounds that can exhibit tautomerization between tricoordinated P(III) hydroxide (R1 R2 POH) and a pentacoordinated P(V) oxide (R1 R2 P(O)H) form. Herein we show, using the canonical variational transition state theory combined with multidimensional small-curvature tunneling approximation, the dominance of proton tunneling in the two-water-bridged tautomerizations of phosphinous acid and model phosphinylidenes comprising phosphosphinates, H-phosphonates, H-phosphinates and secondary phosphine oxides. Based on the studied system, the contribution of thermally-activated tunneling is predicted to speed up the semiclassical reaction rate by ca. threefold to as large as two orders of magnitude at 298.15 K in the gas phase. The large KIE and the concavity in the Arrhenius plots are further fingerprints of tunneling. The simulations also predicted that the rapid tunneling rate and short half-life span for the forward reaction, as opposed to the reverse reaction in fluorinated secondary phosphine oxides, would result in P(V) being elusive and only P(III) being isolable, which agrees with previous experiments where only P(III) was detected by IR and NMR spectroscopy. We also explored the role of solvent and predicted tunneling to be substantial.

Computational Study Revealing the Mechanistic Origin of Distinct Performances of P(O)-H/OH Compounds in Palladium-Catalyzed Hydrophosphorylation of Terminal Alkynes: Switchable Mechanisms and Potential Side Reactions. Abstract
Pd-catalyzed hydrophosphorylation of alkynes with P(O)-H compounds provided atom-economical and oxidant-free access to alkenylphosphoryl compounds. Nevertheless, the applicable P(O)-H substrates were limited to those without a hydroxyl group except H2P(O)OH. It is also puzzling that Ph2P(O)OH could co-catalyze the reaction to improve Markovnikov selectivity. Herein, a computational study was conducted to elucidate the mechanistic origin of the phenomena described above. It was found that switchable mechanisms influenced by the acidity of substrates and co-catalysts operate in hydrophosphorylation. In addition, potential side reactions caused by the protonation of PdII-alkenyl intermediates with P(O)-OH species were revealed. The regeneration of an active Pd(0) catalyst from the resulting Pd(II) complexes is remarkably slower than the hydrophosphonylation, while the downstream reactions, if possible, would lead to phosphorus 2-pyrone. Further analysis indicated that the side reactions could be suppressed by utilizing bulky substrates or ligands or by decreasing the concentration of P(O)-OH species. The presented switchable mechanisms and side reactions shed light on the co-transformations of P(O)-H and P-OH compounds in the Pd-catalyzed hydrophosphorylation of alkynes, clarify the origin of the distinct performances of P(O)-H/OH compounds, and provide theoretical clues for expanding the applicable substrate scope of hydrophosphorylation and synthesizing cyclic alkenylphosphoryl compounds.

Abstract
The addition of secondary phosphine oxides to tetramesityldisilene and -digermene results in the mild, partial reduction of the P(V) centre of the organophosphorus oxide to P(III) to yield disilyl and digermyl phosphinite derivatives and illustrates the potential of ditetrelenes to serve as mild reducing agents under ambient conditions. An analogous reaction happens with <i>H</i>-phosphonates. Mechanistic experiments, including deuterium-labelling, kinetic isotope effect (KIE) and variable time normalization analysis (VTNA) experiments, reveal that the 1,3-PH addition likely proceeds through a stepwise reaction pathway with the organophosphorus oxide acting as the nucleophile towards the ditetrelene. Furthermore, a facile exchange between the R2PO- moiety on the digermylphosphinite with the R2PO moiety of phosphine oxides was discovered and likely proceeds through a direct substitution mechanism.

Abstract
The oxidation of hypophosphorous acid (H3PO2) by a ruthenium(VI) nitrido complex, [(L)RuVI(N)(OH2)]+ (RuVIN; L = N,N'-bis(salicylidene)-o-cyclohexyldiamine dianion), has been studied in aqueous acidic solutions at pH 0-2.50. The reaction has the following stoichiometry: 2[(L)RuVI(N)(OH2)]+ + 3H3PO2 + H2O → 2[(L)RuIII(NH2P(OH)2)(OH2)]+ + H3PO3. The pseudo-first-order rate constant, kobs, depends linearly on [H3PO2], and the second-order rate constant k2 depends on [H+] according to the relationship k2 = k[H+]/([H+] + Ka), where k is the rate constant for the oxidation of H3PO2 molecule and Ka is the dissociation constant of H3PO2. At 298.0 K and I = 1.0 M, k = (2.04 ± 0.19) × 10-2 M-1 s-1 and Ka = (6.38 ± 0.63) × 10-2 M. A kinetic isotope effect (KIE) of 2.9 ± 0.1 was obtained when kinetic studies were carried out with D3PO2 at pH 1.16, suggesting P-H bond cleavage in the rate-determining step. On the other hand, when the kinetics were determined in D2O, an inverse KIE of 0.21 ± 0.03 (H3PO2 in H2O vs H3PO2 in D2O) was found. On the basis of experimental results and DFT calculations, the proposed mechanism involves an acid-catalyzed tautomerization of H2P(O)(OH) to HP(OH)2; the latter molecule is the reacting species which reacts with RuVIN via a proton-coupled N-atom transfer pathway.

Abstract
A novel strategy of bisphosphorylation of anhydrides with P(O)-H reagents via a DMAP-catalyzed and DBU-promoted process has been developed. These one-step transformations proceed efficiently to provide convenient access to a variety of P-O-C-P motif containing organophosphorus compounds. In addition, the gram-scale synthesis and the efficient recovery of the by-product highlight the sustainability and applicability of this method.

Abstract
Transition-metal-catalyzed branched and enantioselective allylic substitution of monosubstituted precursors with carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, sulfur, and fluoride nucleophiles has been well-established. However, such a selective carbon-phosphorus bond formation has not been realized probably due to the catalyst deactivation by the strong coordinating nature of phosphinylating reagents. Herein, we report a Rh-catalyzed highly regio- and enantioselective synthesis of allylic phosphine oxides in the presence of a chiral bisoxazoline-phosphine ligand. The application of α-hydroxylalkylphosphine oxides to keep the low concentration of the secondary phosphine oxides is essential for the high yields. The addition of diphenyl phosphoric acid was found to not only activate allylic alcohols but also accelerate the carbon-phosphorus bond formation.

Abstract

Secondary phosphine
oxides incorporating various aryl and alkyl
groups were synthesized in racemic form, and these products formed
the library reported in this study. TADDOL derivatives were used to
obtain the optical resolution of these P-stereogenic
secondary phosphine oxides. The developed resolution method showed
a good scope under the optimized reaction conditions, as 9 out of
14 derivatives could be prepared with an enantiomeric excess (ee)
≥ 79% and 5 of these derivatives were practically enantiopure
>P(O)H compounds (ee ≥ 98%). The scalability of this resolution
method was also demonstrated. Noncovalent interactions responsible
for the formation of diasteromeric complexes were elucidated by single-crystal
XRD measurements. (S)-(2-Methylphenyl)phenylphosphine
oxide was transformed to a variety of P-stereogenic
tertiary phosphine oxides and a thiophosphinate in stereospecific
Michaelis–Becker, Hirao, or Pudovik reactions.

Abstract
Here we describe a full structural elucidation of the diethyl (2-(4-phenyl-1H-1,2,3-triazol-1-yl)benzyl) phosphate. This compound is a common by-product present in the synthetic protocols to access the α-hydroxy phosphonate compounds through of a Phospha-Brook rearrangement. Thus, a complete NMR structural characterization of this rearrangement by-product was performed by 1H, 13C{1H}, 31P{1H}, COSY, HSQC, and HMBC NMR experiments. Additionally, we have demonstrated that the 1H-31P HMBC is a 2D heteroatom NMR experiment which combines the simple identification by 31P chemical shift with the detection sensitivity by 1H spectrum in a practical procedure.

Abstract
The first example of a carbodiimide-mediated P-C bond-forming reaction is described. The reaction involves activation of β-carboxyethylphosphinic acids and subsequent reaction with Boc-aminals using acid-catalysis. Mechanistic experiments using 31P NMR spectroscopy and DFT calculations support the contribution of unusually reactive cyclic phosphinic/carboxylic mixed anhydrides in a reaction pathway involving ion-pair "swapping". The utility of this protocol is highlighted by the direct synthesis of Boc-protected phosphinic dipeptides, as precursors to potent Zn-aminopeptidase inhibitors.

Abstract
(Ferrocenylmethyl)phosphane (1) oxidation with hydrogen peroxide, elemental sulfur and grey selenium produced (ferrocenylmethyl)phosphane oxide 1O, sulfide 1S and selenide 1Se, respectively, as the first isolable primary phosphane chalcogenides lacking steric protection. At elevated temperatures, compound 1O disproportionated into 1 and (ferrocenylmethyl)phosphinic acid. In reactions with [(η6 -mes)RuCl2 ]2 , 1O underwent tautomerization into a phosphane complex [(η6 -mes)RuCl2 {FcCH2 PH(OH)-κP}], whereas 1S and 1Se lost their P-bound chalcogen atoms, giving rise to the phosphane complex [(η6 -mes)RuCl2 (FcCH2 PH2 -κP)] (Fc=ferrocenyl, mes=mesitylene). No tautomerization was observed in the reaction of 1O with B(C6 F5 )3 , which instead produced a Lewis pair FcCH2 P(O)H2 -B(C6 F5 )3 . Phosphane oxide 1O added to C=O bonds of aldehydes and ketones and even to cumulenes PhNCE (E=O and S). However, both PH hydrogens were only employed in the reactions with aldehydes and cyanates.

Abstract
A series of ammonium monosubstituted H-phosphonate salts were synthesized by combining H-phosphonate diesters with amines in the absence of solvent at 80 °C. Variation of the ester substituent and amine produced a range of ionic liquids with low melting points. The products and by-products were analyzed by spectroscopic and spectrometric techniques in order to get a better mechanistic picture of the dealkylation and formal dearylation observed. For dialkyl H-phosphonate diesters, (RO)2 P(O)H (R=alkyl), the reaction proceeds via direct dealkylation with the reactivity increasing in the order R=iPr<Et<Me corresponding to DFT calculated activation enthalpies of 22.6, 20.8, and 17.9 kcal mol-1 . For the diphenyl H-phosphonate diesters, (PhO)2 P(O)H, the dearylation was found to proceed via phenol-assisted formation of a 5-coordinate intermediate, (PhO)3 PH(OH), from which P(OPh)3 and water were eliminated. The presence of an equivalent of water then facilitated the formation of P(OH)2 OPh and the amine, R'NH2 , subsequently abstracted a proton from it to yield [(PhO)PH(O)O]- [R'NH3 ]+ .

Abstract
We report the boron-catalyzed hydrophosphinylation of N-heteroaryl-substituted alkenes with secondary phosphine oxides that furnishes various phosphorus-containing N-heterocycles. This process proceeds under mild conditions and enables the introduction of a phosphorus atom into multisubstituted alkenylazaarenes. The available mechanistic data can be explained by a reaction pathway wherein the C-P bond is created by the reaction between the activated alkene (by coordination to a boron catalyst) and the phosphorus(III) nucleophile (in tautomeric equilibrium with phosphine oxide).

A greener protocol for the synthesis of phosphorochalcogenoates: Antioxidant and free radical scavenging activities. Eur J Med Chem 2020; 213:113052. Abstract
In this contribution, a metal- and base-free protocol has been developed for the synthesis of phosphorochalcogenoates (Se and Te) by using DMSO as solvent at 50 °C. A variety of phosphorochalcogenoates were prepared from diorganyl dichalcogenides and H-phosphonates, leading to the formation of a Chal-P(O) bond, in a rapid procedure with good to excellent yields. A full structural elucidation of products was accessed by 1D and 2D NMR, IR, CGMS, and HRMS analyses, and a stability evaluation of the phosphorochalcogenoates was performed for an effective operational description of this simple and feasible method. Typical 77Se{1H} (δSe = 866.0 ppm), 125Te{1H} (δTe = 422.0 ppm) and 31P{1H} (δP = -1.0, -13.0 and -15.0 ppm) NMR chemical shifts were imperative to confirm the byproducts, in which this stability study was also important to select some products for pharmacological screening. The phosphorochalcogenoates were screened in vitro and ex vivo tests for the antioxidant potential and free radical scavenging activity, as well as to investigation toxicity in mice through of the plasma levels of markers of renal and hepatic damage. The pharmacological screening of phosphorochalcogenoates indicated that compounds have antioxidant propriety in different assays and not changes plasma levels of markers of renal and hepatic damage, with excision of 3g compound that increased plasma creatinine levels and decreased plasma urea levels when compared to control group in the blood mice. Thus, these compounds can be promising synthetic antioxidants that provide protection against oxidative diseases.

Abstract
AbstractOrganophosphorus compounds have numerous useful applications, from versatile ligands and nucleophiles in the case of trivalent organophosphorus species to therapeutics, agrochemicals and material additives for pentavalent species. Although phosphorus chemistry is a fairly mature field, the construction of C–P(V) bonds relies heavily on either prefunctionalized substrates such as alkyl or aryl halides, or requires previously oxidized bonds such as C=N or C=O, leading to potential sustainability issues when looking at the overall synthetic route. In light of the recent advances in photochemistry, using photons as a reagent can provide better alternatives for phosphorylations by unlocking radical mechanisms and providing interesting redox pathways. This review will showcase the different photomediated phosphorylation procedures available for converting C–H bonds into C–P(V) bonds.1 Introduction1.1 Organophosphorus Compounds1.2 Phosphorylation: Construction of C–P(V) Bonds1.3 Photochemistry as an Alternative to Classical Phosphorylations2 Ionic Mechanisms Involving Nucleophilic Additions3 Mechanisms Involving Radical Intermediates3.1 Mechanisms Involving Reactive Carbon Radicals3.2 Mechanisms Involving Phosphorus Radicals3.2.1 Photoredox: Direct Creation of Phosphorus Radicals3.2.2 Photoredox: Indirect Creation of Phosphorus Radicals3.2.3 Dual Catalysis3.3 Photolytic Cleavage4 Conclusion and Outlook
