Abstract
An AB2C type four-component quadruple cascade reaction has been established between nitroallylic MBH acetate, 1,3-indanedione and aldehyde for generating bis-spirocyclohexanes. This reaction progressed in an unusual [1 + 1 + 1 + 3] annulation manner via a Knoevenagel/Michael/Michael/Michael sequence, resulting in the generation of three/four chiral centres, and two all-carbon quaternary centres through the formation of 3 new C-C bonds.

Abstract
The Morita-Baylis-Hillman (MBH) and Rauhut-Currier (RC) adducts of nitroalkenes are important synthetic intermediates in organic synthesis. This review discusses the applications of different MBH and RC adducts of nitroalkenes such as MBH alcohols, acetates, bromides and hydrazinonitroalkenes as well as ketoalkylnitroalkenes in the synthesis of complex molecules including carbocycles and heterocycles. It also covers the mechanistic aspects, including the key intermediates and the reaction pathways. Early reports on MBH and RC reactions of nitroalkenes and applications of the products were covered in previous reviews. The present review covers the reports that appeared in the timeline of 2015-2023.

Abstract
A domino aldol-SNAr-dehydration [3+3] annulation strategy has been utilized to fuse six-membered cyclic amides onto aromatic substrates. 2-Arylacetamides have been reacted with 2-fluorobenzaldehyde derivatives activated toward SNAr reaction by an electron-withdrawing substituent (NO2, CN, CF3, CO2Me) at C5 to prepare 3,6-disubstituted quinolin-2(1H)-ones. Additionally, 3-substituted 1,8-naphthyridin-2(1H)-ones have been similarly derived from 2-fluoronicotinaldehyde. Fifteen examples are reported, and two possible mechanistic scenarios are presented and discussed.

Abstract
Substituted tetrahydrochromenes and dihydronaphthofurans are easily accessible by the treatment of β-tetralone with trans-β-nitro styrene derived Morita-Baylis-Hillman (MBH) acetates through a formal [3 + 3]/[3 + 2] annulation. The reaction proceeds through a cascade Michael/oxa-Michael pathway with moderate to good yields. A DFT study was carried out to account for the formation of the corresponding six and five-membered heterocycles via 6-endo-trig and 5-exo-trig cyclization.

Abstract
AbstractAllyl and propargyl sulfonium salts are readily available reagents that have recently emerged as versatile building blocks for the assembly of cyclic skeletons. As an alternative to classical sulfonium salts, allyl and propargyl sulfonium salts can be converted into the corresponding vinyl sulfur ylide or allenic sulfonium salt intermediates that contain diverse nucleophilic or electrophilic reactive positions, thereby enabling a great variety of annulation reactions. In this short review, we provide a comprehensive overview of the recent developments in this growing field by summarizing annulation reactions involving allyl and propargyl sulfonium salts. 1 Introduction2 Annulations with Allyl Sulfonium Salts3 Annulations with Propargyl Sulfonium Salts4 Conclusion

Abstract
A facile, metal-free method for the synthesis of substituted α-carbolines from secondary Morita-Baylis-Hillman (MBH) acetates of nitroalkenes is presented. The cascade reaction of MBH acetates with tosyliminoindolines occurs regioselectively to form various α-carbolines with a wide substrate scope. The reaction involves mild conditions, and the products are formed in high yields within a short reaction time. The amenability of the reaction to scale up and synthetic applications of the products have been demonstrated.

Abstract
The efficiency and selectivity of annulation reactions are often difficult to control in the presence of multiple potential reactive centers, like in the case of allylic sulfur ylides (ASY). Here, we describe a novel base mediated [3+3] benzannulation of ASY and readily available alkynones, which accomplishes the regioselective formation of multisubstituted thioanisoles, highly sought after chemical scaffolds. A new reactivity pattern of ASY has been unearthed, where it acted as both a 3C component and sulfur source in benzannulation. Use of a widely available base, operational simplicity and broad substrate scope are the additional salient features of the conversion.

Abstract
An efficient [4 + 2] benzannulation of α-cyano-β-methylenones and α,β-unsaturated aldehydes was achieved under metal-free reaction conditions selectively delivering a wide range of polyfunctional benzenes in high yields respectively (up to 94% yield). Abstract
The base-induced unprecedented tandem [4 + 2] and [1 + 2] annulation reaction of in situ formed 1,2-diaza-1,3-dienes and crotonate-derived sulfur ylides is reported. This protocol provides a novel and practical method for the synthesis of cyclopropane-fused tetrahydropyridazines with a quaternary carbon center in synthetically useful yield. In this tandem reaction, three new bonds were formed in one pot, and the crotonate-derived sulfur ylide serves as a C3 synthon.
