Alloyed Green-Emitting CdZnSeS/ZnS Quantum Dots with Dense Protective Layers for Stable Lighting and Display Applications

AgBiS2@CQDs/Ti nanocomposite coatings for combating implant-associated infections by photodynamic /photothermal therapy

Biofilm-mediated implant-associated infections are one of the most serious complications of implantation surgery, posing a grave threat to patient well-being. Effectively addressing bacterial infections is crucial for the success of implantation procedures. In this study, we prepared a bismuth sulfide silver@carbon quantum dot composite coating (AgBiS2@CQDs/Ti) on a medical titanium surface by surface engineering design to treat implant-associated infections. The photocatalytic/photothermal activity test results confirmed the excellent photogenerated ROS and photothermal properties of AgBiS2@CQDs/Ti under near-infrared laser irradiation. In vitro antibacterial and in vivo anti-infection experiments showed that the coating combined with photodynamic and photothermal therapies to eradicate bacteria and disrupt mature biofilms under 1064 nm laser irradiation. Consequently, AgBiS2@CQDs/Ti shows promise as an implant coating for treating implant-associated infections post-surgery, thereby enhancing the success rate of implantation procedures. This study also provides a new idea for combating implant-associated infections.

Compositionally engineered Cd-Mo-Se alloyed QDs toward photocatalytic H2O2 production and Cr(VI) reduction with a detailed mechanism and influencing parameters

With the exceptional advantages of safety, greenness, and low cost, photocatalytic H2O2 generation has kindled a wonderful spark, although being severely hampered by the terrible photoinduced exciton recombination, migration, and surface decomposition. Here, employing reflux method, the Cd-Mo-Se quantum dots of varying molar ratios of Cd and Mo were synthesized using thioglycolic acid as the capping ligand to regulate their growth. This type of metal alloying promotes rapid charge migration, improves light harvesting, and reduces the rate of charge recombination. The improved optoelectronic properties and boosted activity of Cd-rich ternary CMSe-1 QDs led to the observed exceptional photocatalytic H2O2 yield of 1403.5 μmol g-1 h-1 (solar to chemical conversion efficiency, 0.27%) under visible light, outperforming the other ternary and Se-based QD photocatalysts. Additionally, CMSe-1 shows 93.6% (2 h) hazardous Cr(VI) photoreduction. The enhanced catalytic performance of CMSe-1 corresponds to effective charge carrier separation and transfer efficiency, well supported by PL, TRPL, and electrochemical measurements. Photocatalytic H2O2 production was also studied under varying experimental conditions and the scavenger test suggests a superoxide radical intermediate 2-step single electron reduction pathway. The catalyst-assisted Cr(VI) reduction is substantiated by the zero-order kinetics as well as the determination of the pHPZC value. The catalyst can be employed for a maximum of four times while retaining its activity, according to the photostability and reusability test outcomes. This research presents interesting approaches for producing ternary QDs and modified systems for efficient photocatalytic H2O2 production and Cr(VI) reduction.

Cadmium-Based Quantum Dots Alloyed Structures: Synthesis, Properties, and Applications

Cadmium-based alloyed quantum dots are one of the most popular metal chalcogenides in both the industrial and research fields owing to their extraordinary optical and electronic properties that can be manipulated by varying the compositional ratio in addition to size control. This report aims to cover the main information concerning the synthesis techniques, properties, and applications of Cd-based alloyed quantum dots. It provides a comprehensive overview of the most common synthesis methods for these QDs, which include hot injection, co-precipitation, successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction, hydrothermal, and microwave-assisted synthesis methods. This detailed literature highlights the optical and structural properties of both ternary and quaternary quantum dots. Also, this review provides the high-potential applications of various alloyed quantum dots.

Highly Efficient and Stable Eu3+-Doped CsPbBr3/Cs4PbBr6 Perovskites for White Light-Emitting Diodes

All-inorganic halide perovskite nanomaterials have a high application potential in the field of display and lighting because of unique photoelectric properties. However, these materials suffer from problems related to poor water and thermal stabilities. In this study, green Eu3+-doped CsPbBr3/Cs4PbBr6 perovskite composites that were synthesized by a saturated recrystallization method at room temperature showed an enhanced photoluminescence quantum yield of 87% and superior water and thermal stabilities to that of undoped perovskites. Finally, green Eu3+-doped CsPbBr3/Cs4PbBr6 perovskite composites were fabricated into white light-emitting diodes (WLEDs) with a wide color gamut (124% of the National Television System Committee standard) and a high efficiency of 43.06 lm/W.
