Abstract
Nickel catalysts of chiral pyrox ligands promoted enantioselective reductive arylation and heteroarylation of aldimines, using directly (hetero)aryl halides and sulfonates. The catalytic arylation can also be conducted with crude aldimines generated from condensation of aldehydes and azaaryl amines. Mechanistically, density functional theory (DFT) calculations and experiments pointed to an elementary step of 1,4-addition of aryl nickel(I) complexes to N-azaaryl aldimines.

Abstract
Described here is a method for intermolecular hydroalkoxylation and hydrocarboxylation of 2-azadienes through cobalt-catalyzed hydrogen atom transfer and oxidation. This protocol provides a source of 2-azaallyl cation equivalents under mild conditions, is chemoselective in the presence of other C═C double bonds, and requires no excess amount of added alcohol or oxidant. Mechanistic studies suggest that the selectivity arises from lowering the transition state that leads to the highly stabilized 2-azaallyl radical.

Abstract
Chiral α-amino ketones are common structural motifs in natural products and pharmaceuticals, as well as important synthons in organic synthesis. Thus, establishing efficient methods for preparing compounds with these privileged scaffolds is an important endeavor in synthetic chemistry. Herein we disclose a new catalytic asymmetric approach for the synthesis of chiral α-amino ketones through a chiral palladium-catalyzed arylation reaction of in situ generated challenging α-keto imines from previously unreported C-acyl N-sulfonyl-N,O-aminals, with arylboronic acids. The current reaction offers a straightforward approach to the asymmetric synthesis of acyclic α-amino ketones in a practical and highly stereocontrolled manner. Meanwhile, the multiple roles of the chiral Pd(ii) complex catalyst in the reaction were also reported. Chiral α-amino ketones are common structural motifs in natural products and pharmaceuticals, as well as important synthons in organic synthesis.![]()

Abstract
Herein we reported a highly diastereoselective synthesis of quaternary 3-amino oxindoles bearing an acetal unit via a palladium catalyzed three-component cascade umpolung allylation/acetalation process. An array of 3-amino 3-allyl oxindoles incorporating diversified functional groups were prepared in good yields with exclusive diastereoselectivities. Further investigation demonstrated that the current method could also be extended to cascade umpolung allenylation/acetalation.

Abstract
The exploitation of the α-trifluoromethylamino group as an amide surrogate in peptidomimetics and drug candidates has been on the rise. In a large number of these cases, this moiety bears stereochemistry with the stereochemical identity having important consequences on numerous molecular properties, such as the potency of the compound. Yet, the majority of stereoselective syntheses of α-CF3 amines rely on diastereoselective couplings with chiral reagents. Concurrent with the rapid expansion of fluorine into pharmaceuticals has been the development of catalytic enantioselective means of preparing α-trifluoromethyl amines. In this work, we outline the strategies that have been employed for accessing these enantioenriched amines, including normal polarity approaches and several recent developments in imine umpolung transformations.

Abstract
Palladium(II) acetate reacts with proline and proline homologs in acetone/water to yield square planar bis-chelated palladium amino acid complexes. These compounds are all catalytically active with respect to oxidative coupling of olefins and phenylboronic acids. Some enantioselectivity is observed and formation of products not reported in other Pd(II) oxidative couplings is seen. The crystal structures of nine catalyst complexes were obtained. Extended lattice structures arise from N-H••O or O••(HOH)••O hydrogen bonding. NMR, HRMS, and single-crystal XRD data obtained on all are evaluated.

Abstract
Copper complexes of monodentate phosphoramidites efficiently promote asymmetric arylation of N-azaaryl aldimines with arylboroxines. DFT calculations and experiments support an elementary step of 1,4-insertion in the reaction pathway, a step in which an aryl-copper species adds directly across four atoms of C=N-C=N in the N-azaaryl aldimines.

Abstract
Oxazoline-containing ligands have been widely employed in numerous asymmetric catalytic reactions. Pyridine-oxazoline-type ligands, a class of hybrid ligands, were designed earlier than bisoxazoline and phosphine-oxazoline ligands; however, their unique properties have only been discovered recently. Pyridine-oxazoline-type chiral ligands are rapidly becoming popular for use in asymmetric catalysis, especially for several new and efficient asymmetric methodologies. Several types of challenging asymmetric reactions have been discovered recently using pyridine-oxazoline-type ligands showing their special properties and potential for future application in a wide range of new catalytic methodologies. This review provides an overview of this field, with the aim of highlighting both ligand design and synthetic methodology development.

Abstract
A general Pd-catalyzed, enantioselective three-component synthesis of α-arylglycines starting from sulfonamides, glyoxylic acid derivatives, and boronic acids was developed. This operationally straightforward procedure enables the preparation of a wide variety of α-arylglycines in high yields and excellent levels of enantioselectivity from a simple set of readily available starting materials. Incorporation of Pbf-amides gives a racemization-free access to N-unprotected α-arylglycines.

The first general palladium-catalyzed, enantioselective three-component synthesis of α-arylamines starting from sulfonamides, aldehydes, and arylboronic acids has been developed. These reactions generate a wide array of α-arylamines with high yields and enantioselectivities.
