Abstract
Synthesis of new organo-lanthanide polyphosphides with an aromatic cyclo-[P4]2- moiety and a cyclo-[P3]3- moiety is presented. For this purpose, the divalent LnII-complexes [(NON)LnII(thf)2] (Ln = Sm, Yb) ((NON)2- = 4,5-bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl-amino)-2,7-di-tert-butyl-9,9-dimethylxanthene) and trivalent LnIII-complexes [(NON)LnIIIBH4(thf)2] (Ln = Y, Sm, Dy) were used as precursors in the reduction process of white phosphorus. While using [(NON)LnII(thf)2] as a one-electron reducing agent the formation of organo-lanthanide polyphosphides with a cyclo-[P4]2- Zintl anion was observed. For comparison, we investigated a multi-electron reduction of P4 by a one-pot reaction of [(NON)LnIIIBH4(thf)2] with elemental potassium. As products molecular polyphosphides with a cyclo-[P3]3- moiety were isolated. The same compound could also be obtained by reducing the cyclo-[P4]2- Zintl anion within the coordination sphere of SmIII in [{(NON)SmIII(thf)2}2(μ-η4:η4-P4)]. Reduction of a polyphosphide within the coordination sphere of a lanthanide complex is unprecedented. Additionally, the magnetic properties of the dinuclear DyIII-compound bearing a bridging cyclo-[P3]3- moiety were investigated.

Abstract
We report the synthesis and characterization of two types of new mixed-ligand rare earth complexes: tetracoordinate (NacNacMes)Ln(BIANdipp) (Ln = Dy (1), Er (2) and Y (3)) and pentacoordinate (NacNacMes)Ln(APdipp)(THF) (Ln = Dy (4), Er (5) and Y (6)). The first three compounds were prepared by the reaction of [(BIANDipp)LnI] with potassium β-diketiminate. The salt metathesis of β-diketiminato-supported rare earth dichlorides (NacNacMes)LnCl2(THF)2 with sodium o-amidophenolate results in compounds 4-6. The crystal structures of complexes 1-6 were determined by single-crystal analysis. The combination of bulky monoanionic N-mesityl-substituted β-diketiminates with sterically hindered redox-active ligands led to the very low coordination numbers of rare earths and strong distortion of the chelate ligands.

Abstract
Luminescence of the newly obtained silanediamides of rare earths was investigated. The triplet states of the ligands {Me2Si(NAryl)2}2− (Aryl = Dpp, Mes) were determined by the emission of Gd complexes, and the bright emission of Tb3+ was observed.

Abstract
The reactivity of the reduced anthracene complex of scandium [Li(thf)3 ][Sc{N(tBu)Xy}2 (anth)] (2-anth-Li) (Xy=3,5-Me2 C6 H3 ; anth=C14 H10 2- , thf=tetrahydrofuran) toward Brønsted acid [NEt3 H][BPh4 ] and azobenzene is reported. While a stepwise protonation of 2-anth-Li with two equivalents of [NEt3 H][BPh4 ] afforded the scandium cation [Sc{N(tBu)Xy}2 (thf)2 ][BPh4 ] (3), reduction of azobenzene gave a thermolabile, anionic scandium reduced azobenzene complex [Li(thf)][Sc{N(tBu)Xy}2 (η2 -PhNNPh)] (4), which slowly lost one of the anilide ligands to form the neutral scandium azobenzene complex dimer [Sc{N(tBu)Xy}(μ-η2 :η2 -Ph2 N2 )]2 (5). Exposure of 3 to CO2 produced the scandium carbamate complex [Sc{κ2 -O2 CN(tBu)(Xy)}2 ][BPh4 ] (6) as a result of CO2 insertion into the Sc-N bonds. In an attempt to prepare scandium hydrides, the reaction of 3 with the hydride sources LiAlH4 and Na[BEt3 H] led to the terminal aluminum hydride [AlH{N(tBu)Xy}2 (thf)] (7) and the scandium n-butoxide [Sc{N(tBu)(Xy)}2 (μ-OnBu)] (8) after Sc/Al transmetalation and nucleophilic ring-opening of THF, respectively. All reported compounds isolated in moderate to good yields were fully characterized.

Abstract
Lanthanide complexes have attracted a widespread attention due to their structural diversity, as well as multifunctional and tunable properties. The development of lanthanide based functional materials has often relied on the design of the secondary coordination sphere of the corresponding lanthanide complexes. For instance, usually simple lanthanide salts (solvento complexes) do not catalyze effectively organic reactions or provide low yield of the expected product, whereas the presence of a suitable organic ligand with a noncovalent bond donor or acceptor centre (secondary coordination sphere) modifies the symmetry around the metal centre in lanthanide complexes which then successfully can act as catalysts in both homogenous and heterogenous catalysis. In this minireview, we discuss several relevant examples, based on X-ray crystal structure analyses, in which the hydrogen, halogen, chalcogen, pnictogen, tetrel and rare-earth bonds, as well as cation-π, anion-π, lone pair-π, π-π and pancake interactions, are used as a synthon in the decoration of the secondary coordination sphere of lanthanide complexes.

Abstract
The first rubidium and cesium enediamide complexes based on bulky 1,4-diaza-1,3-diene ligands (DADs) have been prepared by metalation of either 1,4-bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)-1,4-diaza-1,3-butadiene (1, = H2DADDipp) or 1,4-bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)-2,3-dimethyl-1,4-diaza-1,3-butadiene (2, = Me2DADDipp) with an excess of Rb or Cs metals in coordinating solvents such as tetrahydrofuran (THF) or 1,2-dimethoxyethane (DME). All new complexes were fully characterized by spectroscopic and analytical methods as well as single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies.

Abstract
A series of alkali metal cerium diphenylhydrazido complexes, M x (py) y [Ce(PhNNPh)4], M = Li, Na, and K, x = 4 (Li and Na) or 5 (K), and y = 4 (Li), 8 (Na), or 7 (K), were synthesized to probe how a secondary coordination sphere would modulate electronic structures at a cerium cation. The resulting electronic structures of the heterobimetallic cerium diphenylhydrazido complexes were found to be strongly dependent on the identity of the alkali metal cations. When M = Li+ or Na+, the cerium(iii) starting material was oxidized with concomitant reduction of 1,2-diphenylhydrazine to aniline. Reduction of 1,2-diphenylhydrazine was not observed when M = K+, and the complex remained in the cerium(iii) oxidation state. Oxidation of the cerium(iii) diphenylhydrazido complex to the Ce(iv) diphenylhydrazido one was achieved through a simple cation exchange reaction of the alkali metals. UV-Vis spectroscopy, FTIR spectroscopy, electrochemistry, magnetic susceptibility, and DFT studies were used to probe the oxidation state and the electronic changes that occurred at the metal centre.

Abstract
Alkali-metal salts of formazanates are synthesized and their structures in the solid state and in solution are determined. Due to the nitrogen-rich [NNCNN] ligand backbone, complexes with large structural diversity are obtained.
