Abstract
The self-assembly of 2,6-diformyl-4-methylphenol (DFMP) and 1-amino-2-propanol (AP)/2-amino-1,3-propanediol (APD) in the presence of copper(II) ions results in the formation of six new supramolecular architectures containing two versatile double Schiff base ligands (H3L and H5L1) with one-, two-, or three-dimensional structures involving diverse nuclearities: tetranuclear [Cu4(HL2−)2(N3)4]·4CH3OH·56H2O (1) and [Cu4(L3−)2(OH)2(H2O)2] (2), dinuclear [Cu2(H3L12−)(N3)(H2O)(NO3)] (3), polynuclear {[Cu2(H3L12−)(H2O)(BF4)(N3)]·H2O}n (4), heptanuclear [Cu7(H3L12−)2(O)2(C6H5CO2)6]·6CH3OH·44H2O (5), and decanuclear [Cu10(H3L12−)4(O)2(OH)2(C6H5CO2)4] (C6H5CO2)2·20H2O (6). X-ray studies have revealed that the basic building block in 1, 3, and 4 is comprised of two copper centers bridged through one μ-phenolate oxygen atom from HL2− or H3L12−, and one μ-1,1-azido (N3−) ion and in 2, 5, and 6 by μ-phenoxide oxygen of L3− or H3L12− and μ-O2− or μ3-O2− ions. H-bonding involving coordinated/uncoordinated hydroxy groups of the ligands generates fascinating supramolecular architectures with 1D-single chains (1 and 6), 2D-sheets (3), and 3D-structures (4). In 5, benzoate ions display four different coordination modes, which, in our opinion, is unprecedented and constitutes a new discovery. In 1, 3, and 5, Cu(II) ions in [Cu2] units are antiferromagnetically coupled, with J ranging from −177 to −278 cm−1.

Abstract
Substituted pyrazines were successfully used to prepare two new coordination polymers of formulas {[Co(dca)2(NH2pyz)2]·H2O}n (1) and [Co3(dca)6(HOpyz)5(H2O)2]n (2) [dca = dicyanamide, NH2pyz = 2-aminopyrazine and HOpyz = 2-hydroxypyrazine] whose structures were determined by single-crystal X-ray crystallography. The structure of 1 consists of a two-dimensional rhombus grid of cobalt(ii) ions where the dca ligand adopts the μ1,5 bridging mode with trans-positioned monodentate NH2pyz molecules completing the six-coordination around each metal ion. Compound 2 exhibits a stair-like two-dimensional structure where the intralayer connections are performed by the dca and HOpyz groups exhibiting μ1,5 and bis-monodentate coordination modes, respectively. The values of the cobalt-cobalt separation through the dca bridges are 8.2107(3) (1) and 8.4746(4) and 8.5249(4) Å (2) whereas the value through the hydroxypyrazine is 7.2052(6) Å (2). Solid-state direct-current magnetic susceptibility analyses in the temperature range of 1.9-300 K for 1 and 2 reveal the occurrence of magnetically isolated high-spin cobalt(ii) ions with a significant contribution to the magnetic moment (1 and 2), D = +95.4 (1) and +76.5 cm-1 (2) and the antiferromagnetically coupled pairs of cobalt(ii) centres through the bis-monodentate 2-hydroxypyrazine, J = -0.3 cm-1 (2). Both compounds exhibit frequency dependence of the out-of-phase alternating current (ac) magnetic susceptibility (χ''M) under non-zero applied dc fields, a feature which is characteristic of single-ion magnet behaviour (SIM). Q-band EPR studies on the polycrystalline samples of 1 and 2 at low temperatures confirm the positive sign of D and reveal the occurrence of a strong asymmetry in the g-tensors. Theoretical calculations by CASSCF/NEVPT2 support these results. An analysis of the dynamic behaviour of 1 and 2 suggests that the relaxation of the magnetization occurs in the ground state under applied fields through two Orbach processes possibly bound to low-lying vibrational modes in the high temperature range, and to the slowing down of the fast interconversion between the two contributions of the ground Kramers doublet at lower temperatures induced by the applied dc field.

Abstract
Three coordination polymers of metal(II)-dicyanamido (dca) complexes with 4-methoxypyridine-N-oxide (4-MOP-NO); namely, catena-[Co(µ1,5-dca)2(4-MOP-NO)2] (1), catena-[Mn(µ1,5-dca)2(4-MOP-NO)2] (2), catena-[Cd(µ1,5-dca)2(4-MOP-NO)2] (3), and the mononuclear [Cu(κ1dca)2(4-MOP-NO)2] (4), were synthesized in this research. The complexes were analyzed by single crystal X-ray diffraction as well as spectroscopic methods (UV/vis, IR). The polymeric 1-D chains in complexes 1–3 were achieved by the doubly µ1,5-bridging dca ligands and the O-donor atoms of two axial 4-MOP-NO molecules in trans configuration around the distorted M(II) octahedral. On the other hand, the two “trans-axial” pyridine-N-oxide molecules in complexes 2 and 3 display opposite orientation (s-trans). The DFT (density functional theory) computational studies on the complexes 1–3 were consistent with the experimentally observed crystal structures. Compounds 1 and 2 display weak antiferromagnetic coupling between metal ions (J = −10.8 for 1 and −0.35 for 2).

Abstract
The employment of the fluorescent bridging and chelating ligand N-naphthalidene-2-amino-5-chlorobenzoic acid (nacbH2) in Ni(II) cluster chemistry has led to a series of pentanuclear and hexanuclear compounds with different structural motifs, magnetic and optical properties, as well as an interesting 1-D coordination polymer. Synthetic parameters such as the inorganic anion present in the NiX2 starting materials (X = ClO4(-) or Cl(-)), the reaction solvent and the nature of the organic base employed for the deprotonation of nacbH2 were proved to be structure-directing components. Undoubtedly, the reported results demonstrate the rich coordination chemistry of nacbH2 in the presence of Ni(II) metal ions and the ability of this chelate to adopt a variety of different modes, thus fostering the formation of high-nuclearity molecules with many physical properties.

Abstract
Trinuclear chiral (LH)2L2Cu3 (LH = 1,3-diamino-2-propanol, bdapH) assemblies linked by octacyanidometalate(IV) form isostructural one-dimensional (1D) chains consisting of right- and left-handed helixes arranged in an alternate manner: [(bdapH)2(bdap)2Cu(II)3][M(IV)(CN)8]·H2O (M = Mo 1, W 2). Each chain displays helicity with a long pitch around 17.2 Å. The direction of the helix rotation is strictly connected with the conformation of the (LH)2L2Cu3 unit. Right-handed helixes are based on Δ-S,S-(LH)2L2Cu3, whereas left-handed ones contain Λ-R,R-(LH)2L2Cu3 units. Magnetic studies reveal antiferromagnetic interactions through alkoxo-bridges inside trinuclear Cu(II) nodes leading to an ST = 1/2 ground state for both assemblies.

Abstract
The addition of a solution of excess K(SCN) to an aqueous solution containing Cu(NO3)2.6H2O and 1,3-bis(amino)-2-propanol (bdapH) yields a novel 2D mixed Cu(I)-Cu(II) complex; X-ray diffraction and magnetic studies are reported herein.
