Abstract
In this work, we illustrated the design and development of a metal-coordinated porous organic polymer (POP) namely VO@TPA-POP via a post-synthetic metalation strategy to incorporate oxo-vanadium sites in a pristine polymer (TPA-POP) having acetylacetonate (acac) as anchoring moiety. The as-synthesized VO@TPA-POP exhibited highly robust and porous framework, which has been utilized for thioanisole (TA) oxidation to its corresponding sulfoxide. The catalyst demonstrated notable stability and recyclability by maintaining its catalytic activity over multiple reaction cycles without any significant loss in activity. The X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and density functional theory (DFT) analysis establish the existence of V(+4) oxidation state along with the VO(O)4 active sites into the porous network and the most energetically feasible mechanistic pathway involved in the TA oxidation, respectively, indicating the role of electron density associated with vanadium center during the catalytic transformation. Thus, this work aims at the demonstration of versatility and potential of VO@TPA-POP as a porous heterogeneous catalyst for the TA oxidation followed by decontamination of sulfur mustards (HD's) to their corresponding less toxic sulfoxides in a more efficient and greener way.

Abstract
Two new meso-substituted oxido-molybdenum corroles were synthesized and characterized by various spectroscopic techniques. In the thermogram, MoO[TTC] (1) exhibited excellent thermal stability up to 491 °C while MoO[TNPC] (2) exhibited good stability up to 318 °C. The oxidation states of the molybdenum(V) were verified by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy and exhibited an axial compression with dxy1 configuration. Oxido-molybdenum(V) complexes were utilized for the selective epoxidation of various olefins with high TOF values (2066-3287 h-1) in good yields in a CH3CN/H2O (3:2, v/v) mixture in the presence of hydrogen peroxide as a green oxidant and NaHCO3 as a promoter. The oxidative bromination catalytic activity of oxido-molybdenum(V) complexes in an aqueous medium has been reported for the first time. Surprisingly, MoO[TNPC] (2) biomimics of the vanadium bromoperoxidase (VBPO) enzyme activity exhibited remarkably high TOF values (36 988-61 646 h-1) for the selective oxidative bromination of p-cresol and other phenol derivatives. Catalyst MoO[TNPC] (2) exhibited higher TOF values and better catalytic activity than catalyst MoO[TTC] (1) due to the presence of electron-withdrawing nitro groups evident from cyclic voltammetric studies.

Abstract
Chemical functionalization or docking of transition-metal ions in covalent organic frameworks (COFs) is of importance for calibrating properties and widening potential applications. In this work, we demonstrate the successful decoration of COF with vanadium as exemplified in the context of post-synthetically modifying two-dimensional COF that features eclipsed stacking structure, large pores, hydroxyl functionalities, high thermal and chemical stability using vanadyl acetylacetonate. The potent catalytic behavior of vanadium-decorated COF was systematically investigated in the reactions of Prins condensation and sulfide oxidation, which revealed its excellent catalytic performances in terms of efficacious activity, preservation of framework crystallinity and reusability. Our work not only contributes the first ever report of vanadium-decorated COF-catalyzed Prins reaction and sulfide oxidation but paves a new way for docking COF with metals for a broad range of applications.

Abstract
Here, we have described the synthesis, characterization and catalytic activity of a dioxo-molybdenum(vi) complex supported on functionalized Merrifield resin (MR-SB-Mo). The functionalization of Merrifield resin (MR) was achieved in two-steps viz. carbonylation (MR-C) and Schiff base formation (MR-SB). The compounds, MR-C, MR-SB and MR-SB-Mo, were characterized at each step of the synthesis by elemental, SEM, EDX, thermal, BET and different spectroscopic analysis. The catalyst, MR-SB-Mo, efficiently and selectively oxidized a wide variety of alcohols to aldehydes or ketones using 30% H2O2 as an oxidant with reasonably good TOF (660 h-1 in case of benzyl alcohol). The catalyst acted heterogeneously under solventless reaction conditions and did not lead to over oxidized products under optimized conditions. The catalyst afforded regeneration and can be reused for at least five reaction cycles without loss of efficiency and product selectivity. A reaction mechanism for the catalytic activity of MR-SB-Mo was proposed and a probable reactive intermediate species isolated.

Abstract
Transition-metal oxide nanoparticles and molecular coordination compounds are highlighted as functional mimics of halogenating enzymes. These enzymes are involved in halometabolite biosynthesis. Their activity is based upon the formation of hypohalous acids from halides and hydrogen peroxide or oxygen, which form bioactive secondary metabolites of microbial origin with strong antibacterial and antifungal activities in follow-up reactions. Therefore, enzyme mimics and halogenating enzymes may be valuable tools to combat biofilm formation. Here, halogenating enzyme models are briefly described, enzyme mimics are classified according to their catalytic functions, and current knowledge about the settlement chemistry and adhesion of fouling organisms is summarized. Enzyme mimics with the highest potential are showcased. They may find application in antifouling coatings, indoor and outdoor paints, polymer membranes for water desalination, or in aquacultures, but also on surfaces for food packaging, door handles, hand rails, push buttons, keyboards, and other elements made of plastic where biofilms are present. The use of natural compounds, formed in situ with nontoxic and abundant metal oxide enzyme mimics, represents a novel and efficient "green" strategy to emulate and utilize a natural defense system for preventing bacterial colonization and biofilm growth.

Abstract
A novel mesoporous MoO2 composite supported on graphene oxide (m-MoO2/GO) has been designed and applied as an efficient epoxidation catalyst. The m-MoO2/GO composite was characterised by X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Brunauer–Emmet–Teller surface area analysis, field emission scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. Compared with pure mesoporous MoO2 (m-MoO2) and amorphous MoO2-graphene oxide (a-MoO2/GO), m-MoO2/GO exhibits the best catalytic activity. The conversion and selectivity for cyclooctene are both over 99 % in 6 h. Remarkably, the mesoporous structure in m-MoO2/GO which derives from SiO2 nanospheres endows the catalyst better catalytic performance for long chain olefins: the conversion of methyl oleate can be as high as 82 %. Such a robust catalyst can be easily recycled and reused five times without significant loss of catalytic activity. This novel catalyst is promising in the synthesis of epoxides with a long carbon chain or large ring size.

Abstract
Styrene oxidation mediated by a Mo-based mesoporous catalyst can yield selectively styrene oxide or benzaldehyde. Kinetic data evidenced that styrene oxide is the initial single-product formed by the catalytic Mo-mediated process. However, after some hours of reaction benzaldehyde yield rises while that of the epoxide decreases concomitantly. The mechanistic proposal pointed to a surface assisted acid-base mechanism by which styrene oxide is interconverted into benzaldehyde through over-oxidation and cleavage of the C-C bond and releases formaldehyde as well. In an attempt to gain some insight into whether this mechanistic proposal is realistic we have conducted a combined DRIFT and inelastic neutron scattering (INS) study to assess the adsorbed species at the catalyst's surface and confirm the mechanistic proposal. INS and DRIFT provided complementary insight into surface-adsorbed species by probing donor (INS) and acceptor (DRIFT) species. INS also allowed for an estimation of product selectivity by means of a Job method stressing the power of the technique.
