Abstract
Although a wide variety of boron-based "scorpionate" ligands have been implemented, a modular route that offers facile access to different substitution patterns at boron has yet to be developed. Here, we demonstrate new reactivity patterns at the bridgehead positions of a ruthenium tris(pyrid-2-yl)borate complex that allow for facile tuning of steric and electronic properties.

Abstract
A series of alkyl organoaluminium complexes based on bulky heteroscorpionate ligands were designed as catalysts for the ring-opening polymerisation of cyclic esters. Thus, the treatment of AlX3 (X = Me, Et) with bulky acetamide or thioacetamide heteroscorpionate ligands nbptamH (1) [nbptamH = N-naphthyl-2,2-bis(3,5-dimethylpyrazol-1-yl)thioacetamide], fbpamH (2) [fbpamH = N-fluorenyl-2,2-bis(3,5-dimethylpyrazol-1-yl)acetamide], ptbptamH (3) [ptbptamH = N-phenyl-2,2-bis(3,5-di-tert-butylpyrazol-1-yl)thioacetamide], ntbptamH (4) [ntbptamH = N-naphthyl-2,2-bis(3,5-di-tert-butylpyrazol-1-yl)thioacetamide], ptbpamH (5) [ptbpamH = N-phenyl-2,2-bis(3,5-di-tert-butylpyrazol-1-yl)acetamide] and (S)-mtbpamH (6) [(S)-mtbpamH = (S)-(−)-N-α-methylbenzyl-2,2-bis(3,5-di-tert-butylpyrazol-1-yl)acetamide] for 1 hour at 0 °C afforded the dialkyl aluminium complexes [AlX2{κ(2)-nbptam}] (X = Me 7, Et 8), [AlX2{κ(2)-fbpam}] (X = Me 9, Et 10), [AlX2{κ(2)-ptbptam}] (X = Me 11, Et 12), [AlX2{κ(2)-ntbptam}] (X = Me 13, Et 14), [AlX2{κ2(-)ptbpam}] (X = Me 15, Et 16) and [AlX2{κ(2)-(S)-mtbpam}] (X = Me 17, Et 18). The structures of the complexes were determined by spectroscopic methods and the X-ray crystal structure of 14 was also established. The alkyl-containing aluminium complexes 7–18 can act as efficient single-component initiators for the ring-opening polymerisation of ε-caprolactone and rac-lactide. The polymerisations are living, as evidenced by the narrow polydispersities of the isolated polymers and the linear nature of the number average molecular weight versus conversion plot. Finally, a comparative study of ring-opening polymerisation for new bulky heteroscorpionate aluminium initiators and the less congested aluminium analogues is reported.

Abstract
A bis(phosphine)borane ambiphilic ligand, [Fe(η(5) -C5 H4 PPh2 )(η(5) -C5 H4 PtBu{C6 H4 (BPh2 )-ortho})] (FcPPB), in which the borane occupies a terminal position, was prepared. Reaction of FcPPB with tris(norbornene)platinum(0) provided [Pt(FcPPB)] (1) in which the arylborane is η(3) BCC-coordinated. Subsequent reaction with CO and CNXyl (Xyl=2,6-dimethylphenyl) afforded [PtL(FcPPB)] {L=CO (2) and CNXyl (3)} featuring η(2) BC- and η(1) B-arylborane coordination modes, respectively. Reaction of 1 or 2 with H2 yielded [PtH(μ-H)(FcPPB)] in which the borane is bound to a hydride ligand on platinum. Addition of PhC2 H to [Pt(FcPPB)] afforded [Pt(C2 Ph)(μ-H)(FcPPB)] (5), which rapidly converted to [Pt(FcPPB')] (6; FcPPB'=[Fe(η(5) -C5 H4 PPh2 )(η(5) -C5 H4 PtBu{C6 H4 (BPh-CPh=CHPh-Z)-ortho}]) in which the newly formed vinylborane is η(3) BCC-coordinated. Unlike arylborane complex 1, vinylborane complex 6 does not react with CO, CNXyl, H2 or HC2 Ph at room temperature.

Abstract
Aminoalkenes are catalytically cyclized in the presence of cyclopentadienylbis(oxazolinyl)borato group 4 complexes {PhB(C5H4)(Ox(R))2}M(NMe2)2 (M = Ti, Zr, Hf; Ox(R) = 4,4-dimethyl-2-oxazoline, 4S-isopropyl-5,5-dimethyl-2-oxazoline, 4S-tert-butyl-2-oxazoline) at room temperature and below, affording five-, six-, and seven-membered N-heterocyclic amines with enantiomeric excesses of >90% in many cases and up to 99%. Mechanistic investigations of this highly selective system employed synthetic tests, kinetics, and stereochemistry. Secondary aminopentene cyclizations require a primary amine (1-2 equiv vs catalyst). Aminoalkenes are unchanged in the presence of a zirconium monoamido complex {PhB(C5H4)(Ox(4S-iPr,Me2))2}Zr(NMe2)Cl or a cyclopentadienylmono(oxazolinyl)borato zirconium diamide {Ph2B(C5H4)(Ox(4S-iPr,Me2))}Zr(NMe2)2. Plots of initial rate versus [substrate] show a rate dependence that evolves from first-order at low concentration to zero-order at high concentration, and this is consistent with a reversible substrate-catalyst interaction preceding an irreversible step. Primary kinetic isotope effects from substrate conversion measurements (k'obs((H))/k'obs((D)) = 3.3 ± 0.3) and from initial rate analysis (k2((H))/k2((D)) = 2.3 ± 0.4) indicate that a N-H bond is broken in the turnover-limiting and irreversible step of the catalytic cycle. Asymmetric hydroamination/cyclization of N-deutero-aminoalkenes provides products with higher optical purities than obtained with N-proteo-aminoalkenes. Transition state theory, applied to the rate constant k2 that characterizes the irreversible step, provides activation parameters consistent with a highly organized transition state (ΔS(++) = -43(7) cal·mol(-1) K(-1)) and a remarkably low enthalpic barrier (ΔH(++) = 6.7(2) kcal·mol(-1)). A six-centered, concerted transition state for C-N and C-H bond formation and N-H bond cleavage involving two amidoalkene ligands is proposed as most consistent with the current data.
