Abstract
AbstractPolyindole is considered an excellent conducting polymer with interested properties for different applications. A novel polyindole (PIn)/CuInS (CIS)/ZnS quantum dots (QDs) nanocomposite was synthesized via in situ polymerization of PIn in presence of CIS/ZnS QDs. By investigating the effect of CIS/ZnS QDs on optical properties of PIn, it was found that the optical band gaps of PIn, CIS/ZnS QDs, and PIn/CIS/ZnS QDs nanocomposite were 3.24 eV, 4.68 eV and 3.44 eV, respectively. From the luminance spectra, it was observed that emission peaks of PIn at 442 and 468 nm are independent of the excitation wavelength with the highest intensity at excitation wavelength of 380 nm. However, the luminance spectrum of PIn/CIS/ZnS QDs nanocomposite exhibited a quenching peak for CIS/ZnS QDs while the intensity of PIn peak was enhanced. High resolution of transmission electron microscope image of CIS/ZnS QDs revealed nanocrystals with a size of 3–4.5 nm and lattice space of 0.2 nm. PIn/CIS/ZnS QDs nanocomposite as the fluorescent probe was employed for sensing different concentrations of Pb2+ from 5 to 50 ppb. The reaction between PIn/CIS/ZnS QDs and Pb2+ was slightly quenched and fixed after 90 min. The emission peak was reduced gradually with increasing concentration of lead via photo-induced electron transfer or ion exchange mechanism. The value of correlation coefficient (R2) was 0.99, the sensitivity was 0.0041 ppb−1 and limit of detection value was 4.48 ppb.

Abstract
In this paper, a D–A polymer (PIB) containing carbazole as the donor group in the main chain and benzimidazole benzisoindolinone as the acceptor group was synthesized by Suzuki reaction. The Suzuki reaction, also known as the Suzuki coupling reaction, is a relatively new organic coupling reaction in which aryl or alkenyl boronic acids or boronic acid esters react with chlorine, bromine, iodoaromatic hydrocarbons or alkenes under the catalysis of zerovalent palladium complexes cross-coupling. A series of devices were fabricated by a spin-coating approach, and the devices all exhibited ternary resistance switching storage behavior. Among them, the composite device with the mass fraction of SnO2 NPs of 5 wt% has the best storage performance, with a threshold voltage of −0.4 V and a switching current ratio of 1:101.5:104.5. At the same time, the current of the device remained stable after a 3-h test. Furthermore, after 103 cycles, the current has no obvious attenuation. The device has good stability and continuity. Moreover, the conduction mechanism is further revealed. Inorganic nanoparticle composite devices have splendid memory performances and exhibit underlying application significance in storing data.

Abstract
Herein, we report the electrochemical detection of roxarsone (ROX) on a two-dimensional (2D) activated carbon (AC)-modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE). Meso/microporous 2D-AC is synthesized from a natural biomass Desmostachya bipinnata, commonly known as Kusha in India. This environment-friendly material is synthesized by chemical activation using potassium hydroxide (KOH) and used as a sensitive electrochemical platform for the determination of ROX. It is an arsenic-based medicine, also used as a coccidiostat drug. It is widely used in poultry production as a feed additive to increase weight gain and improve feed efficiency. Long-term exposure to arsenic leads to serious health problems in humans and demands an urgent call for sensitive detection of ROX. Therefore, the green synthesis of 2D-AC is introduced as new carbon support for the electrochemical sensing of ROX. It provides a large surface area and efficiently supports enhanced electron transfer. Its electrocatalytic activity is seen in potassium ferri/ferrocyanide by cyclic voltammetry, where the 2D-AC-modified GCE delivered five to six times higher electrochemical performance as compared to the unmodified GCE. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy is also performed to show that the prepared material has faster electron transfer and permits a diffusion-controlled process. It works well in real samples and also on disposable screen-printed carbon electrodes, thereby showing great potential for its application in clinical diagnosis. Our results exemplify a modest and innovative style for the synthesis of excellent electrode material in the electrochemical sensing platform and thus offer an inexpensive and highly sensitive novel approach for the electrochemical sensing of ROX and other similar drugs.

Abstract
Polysulfanilic acid has a low efficiency for the photoelectrochemical (PEC) production of H2 from water splitting due to high recombination rate of charge and low electrical conductivity. Therefore, polyaniline was doped with polysulfanilic acid to form a copolymer and a blend to enhance its PEC heterogeneous catalytic performance. This was achieved through the improvement of visible light absorption and charge carriers' separation property. Herein, nine polymer samples of polysulfanilic acid were synthesized by oxidative polymerization. The structural, morphological, and optical properties of the synthesized polymeric materials were investigated. Interestingly, these polymer samples had multifunctional applications regarding their hydrogen generation efficiency. Photoelectrodes of different compositions from pure and blended polymers were prepared and used for the PEC solar hydrogen production from water. Different PEC parameters including the oxidant role, monochromatic illumination wavelength, and electrode reusability were optimized toward the efficient hydrogen generation. Moreover, the PEC performance was evaluated using key indicators such as photocurrent density, conversion efficiency, and the number of hydrogen moles. The number of hydrogen moles was quantitatively estimated to be 140.4, 160.2, and 300 μmol/h·g at -1 V for the polymer, copolymer, and polymer blend, respectively, in the presence of APS + FeCl3 as an oxidant. Further, other samples of polymers showed antimicrobial properties against different species of bacteria. Hence, the present study may provide a cost-effective method to produce solar hydrogen fuel from water.

Abstract
Energy production and consumption without the use of fossil fuels are amongst the biggest challenges currently facing humankind and the scientific community. Huge efforts have been invested in creating technologies that enable closed carbon or carbon neutral fuel cycles, limiting CO2 emissions into the atmosphere. Formic acid/formate (FA) has attracted intense interest as a liquid fuel over the last half century, giving rise to a plethora of studies on catalysts for its efficient electrocatalytic oxidation for usage in fuel cells. However, new catalysts and catalytic systems are often difficult to compare because of the variability in conditions and catalyst parameters examined. In this review, we discuss the extensive literature on FA electrooxidation using platinum, palladium and non-platinum group metal-based catalysts, the conditions typically employed in formate electrooxidation and the main electrochemical parameters for the comparison of anodic electrocatalysts to be applied in a FA fuel cell. We focused on the electrocatalytic performance in terms of onset potential and peak current density obtained during cyclic voltammetry measurements and on catalyst stability. Moreover, we handpicked a list of the most relevant examples that can be used for benchmarking and referencing future developments in the field.

Abstract
In this paper, we explain the electrochemical sensing of commercially available pioglitazone hydrochloride (PIOZ) tablets on a nitrogen (N) doped r-GO (Nr-GO) modified commercial glassy carbon electrode (GCE) and a commercial screen printed graphite electrode (SPGE). Nr-GO is synthesized by the chemical reduction of graphene oxide (GO) and simultaneous insertion of an N-dopant by hydrazine monohydrate. Pristine GO itself is prepared by chemical exfoliation of bulk graphite. Upon chemical reduction, the exfoliated GO sheets restack together leaving behind the doped N-atom as evidenced by XRD and Raman spectroscopy. The N-atom exists in the pyrrolinic and pyridinic form at the edge of graphitic domains which is confirmed by XPS. The as-synthesized Nr-GO is used for the preparation of electro-active electrodes with the help of the GCE and SPGE. These electrodes have the capability to oxidize PIOZ by a diffusion dominated process as evidenced by the impedance spectroscopic technique. The differential pulse voltammetric responses of different concentrations of PIOZ are assessed over the Nr-GO modified GCE and SPGE, which exhibit better limits of detection (LODs) of 67 nM and 29 nM, respectively, compared to those from earlier reports. These assays exhibit non-interfering capability in the presence of various body interferents at pH = 7.0.

Abstract
At present, although a large number of palladium-based nanowire electrocatalysts have been prepared, there are few reports on nanowires containing rich metal oxides. Herein, porous PdCu alloy nanowires and PdCu-SnO2 nanowires were prepared by using a galvanic displacement synthesis method. Due to their one-dimensional structure, rough surfaces with non-homogeneous edges, electronic effect, and the advanced PdCu/SnO2 interface of the as-synthesized PdCu-SnO2 nanowire catalysts, they exhibited a mass activity of 7770.0 mA mg-1 towards ethanol oxidation, which was 7.6-fold higher than that of Pd/C catalysts (1025.0 mA mg-1). In addition, they behaved strong durability upon chronoamperometry and continuous cyclic voltammetry tests. The electrochemical measurements demonstrated that SnO2 was introduced into the PdCu/SnO2 interface, which promoted the oxidation of ethanol at a lower potential and accelerated the oxidation of Pd-COads via SnO2-OHads to regenerate the active sites. This research highlights the significance of introducing metal oxides into the nanostructure interface, and the performance of Pd-containing catalysts towards ethanol oxidation reaction was greatly improved.
