Abstract
ABA triblock copolymers can form microphase separated structures where the B blocks form bridges between A domains, leading to reversible networks interesting for a variety of applications such as pressure sensitive adhesives or thermoplastic elastomers. However, a major drawback of these systems is their rapid loss of mechanical properties upon temperature increase. A potential way to circumvent this limitation would be to design ABA triblock copolymers that keep their microphase separation at high temperatures. In this paper, we report on all-soft ABA triblock copolymers having a poly(n-butyl acrylate) (PnBA) central block and poly(heptafluorobutyl acrylate) (PHFBA) outer blocks. By introducing fluorinated units, the incompatibility between the blocks is largely increased, allowing strong segregation between the block domains, which preserve the microphase separation up to high temperatures despite the low glass transition temperature of the blocks, as shown by temperature dependent SAXS measurements. We study the properties of different copolymers, with similar PHFBA volume fractions but different block lengths. Linear shear rheology measurements revealed the presence of a second, low frequency, plateau whose onset and length depend on the PnBA and PHFBA length, respectively. This plateau also persists up to higher temperatures for longer PHFBA blocks.

Abstract
Fluorinated copolymers can self-assemble in solution and form micelles with rare properties due to the peculiar behavior of fluorinated groups. However, the process description of the self-assembly is still largely phenomenological and difficult to explain due to the tendency of the fluorinated segments to segregate from both the hydrophilic and lipophilic segments, which can result in various morphologies. Herein, the controlled formation of ellipsoidal micelles, disklike micelles, and sheets by hierarchical self-assembly of triphilic main-chain-type semifluorinated alternating graft copolymers (AB)n A-g-mOEG is presented (where A represents unit of α,ω-diiodoperfluoroalkane, B represents the unit of α,ω-unconjugated diene, and mOEG represents methoxy oligo(ethylene glycol)), which are synthesized by step transfer-addition and radical-termination (START) polymerization and azide-alkyne click chemistry. Furthermore, the possible self-assembly mechanism of these micron-level aggregates is proposed, which is ascribed to the hierarchical self-assembly, crowding effect of hydrophilic chains and the interfacial tension between the fluoroalkane and alkane segments. This study can provide a facile and highly efficient approach to the synthesis of main-chain-type fluorinated graft copolymers and expand the research field for the solution self-assembly of fluorinated copolymers.

Abstract
Perfluoropolyether (PFPE) is an industrially important fluoropolymer and has great industrial importance due to its flexible, noncombustible, and chemically robust properties. However, exploration and application of chemically modified homogeneous PFPEs are hampered by their immiscibility against nonfluorine-containing molecules. Here, the synthesis is reported of cyclic PFPE with hexaarylbiimidazoles (HABIs) in chains from linear PFPE having 2,4,5-triphenylimidazole (lophine) end groups. While phase separation between the end groups and main chains took place for linear PFPE, HABIs and main chains in cyclic PFPE are miscible to form transparent glass films. The design of cyclic PFPE also enables cyclic to linear topological transformation based on conversion of HABIs into lophines upon mild heating in the glass film state. Sequential linear-to-cyclic and cyclic-to-linear topological transformations enable fabrication of thermostabilized transparent films derived from PFPE.

Abstract
To date, amphiphilic block copolymers (BCPs) containing poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropene) (P(VDF-co-HFP)) copolymers are rare. At moderate content of HFP, this fluorocopolymer remains semicrystalline and is able to crystallize. Amphiphilic BCPs, containing a P(VDF-co-HFP) segment could, thus be appealing for the preparation of self-assembled block copolymer morphologies through crystallization-driven self-assembly (CDSA) in selective solvents. Here the synthesis, characterization by 1H and 19F NMR spectroscopies, GPC, TGA, DSC, and XRD; and the self-assembly behavior of a P(VDF-co-HFP)-b-PEG-b-P(VDF-co-HFP) triblock copolymer were studied. The well-defined ABA amphiphilic fluorinated triblock copolymer was self-assembled into nano-objects by varying a series of key parameters such as the solvent and the non -solvent, the self-assembly protocols, and the temperature. A large range of morphologies such as spherical, square, rectangular, fiber-like, and platelet structures with sizes ranging from a few nanometers to micrometers was obtained depending on the self-assembly protocols and solvents systems used. The temperature-induced crystallization-driven self-assembly (TI-CDSA) protocol allowed some control over the shape and size of some of the morphologies.

Abstract
Defects in bones can be caused by a plethora of reasons, such as trauma or illness, and in many cases, it poses challenges to the current treatment approaches for bone repair. With increasing demand of bone bioengineering in tissue transplant, there is a need to source for sustainable solutions to induce bone regeneration. Polymeric biomaterials have been identified as a promising approach due to its excellent biocompatibility and controllable biodegradability. Specifically, poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) is one of the most commonly investigated polymer for use in bio-related application due to its bioinertness and versatility. Furthermore, the hydrophilic nature enables it to be incorporated with hydrophobic but biodegradable polymers like, polylactide (PLA) and polycaprolactone (PCL), to create an amphiphilic polymer. This article reviews the recent synthetic strategies available for the construction of PEG conjugated polymeric system, analysis of PEG influence on the material properties, and provides an overview of its application in bone engineering.

Abstract
We report the novel and simplified synthesis of fluorinated surfactants for droplet microfluidics. The range of applications of droplet microfluidics has greatly expanded during the last decade thanks to its ability to manipulate and process tiny amount of sample and reagents at high throughput in independent reactors. A critical component of the technology is the formulation of the immiscible oil phase that contains surfactants to stabilize droplets. The success of droplet microfluidics relies mostly on a single fluorinated formulation that uses a PFPE–PEG triblock surfactant. The synthesis of this surfactant is laborious and requires skills in synthetic chemistry preventing the wider community to explore the synthesis of surfactants with alternate structures. We sought to provide a simplified synthesis for novel PFPE–PEG surfactants based on click chemistry approaches such as copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) and UV-activated thiol–yne reactions. Our strategy is based on converting a moisture sensitive intermediate typically used in the synthesis of the triblock PFPE–PEG surfactant into a stable and click ready molecule. We successfully combined that fluorinated tail with differently functionalized PEG and glycerol ethoxylate molecules to generate surfactants with diverse structures via CuACC and thiol–yne reactions. We report the characterization, biocompatibility and ability to stabilize emulsions of those surfactants, as well as the unique advantages and challenges of the strategy. Abstract
Perfluoropolyether (PFPE)-based thermoplastic fluoropolymers are synthesized by A2 + B2 step-growth polymerization between PFPE-diyne and fluorinated diazides. This versatile method allows synthesizing PFPE-based materials with tunable physicochemical properties depending on the exact nature of the fluorinated segment of the diazide precursor. Semicrystalline or amorphous materials endowed with high thermostability (≈300 °C under air) and low glass transition temperature (≈-100 °C) are obtained, as confirmed by differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetry, and rheometry. Step-growth polymerizations can be copper-catalyzed but also thermally activated in some cases, thus avoiding the presence of copper residues in the final materials. This strategy opens up new opportunities to easily access PFPE-based materials on an industrial scale. Furthermore, a plethora of developments can be envisioned (e.g., by adding a third trifunctional component to the formulations for the synthesis of PFPE-based elastomers).
