Abstract
The urea oxidation reaction (UOR) is an alternative anodic reaction for hydrogen generation via water splitting. The significance of UOR lies in both H2 production and the decontamination of urea-containing wastewater. Commercial electrocatalysts in this field are generally based on noble metals and show several limitations. Bimetal-organic frameworks (BMOFs) can be excellent candidates for the replacement of noble-metal-based catalysts beacuse of their promising features, such as a tunable structure, high surface area, and abundant sites for electrocatalysis. In this study, a series of nickel-cobalt BMOFs (Nix-Coy-BMOFs: x and y refer to a molar fraction of Ni and Co) were synthesized and applied as electrocatalysts in UOR. In particular, a Ni0.15Co0.85-MOF material with a structure similar to that of its parent Co-MOF, revealed exceptional electrocatalytic performance, as evidenced by low values of overpotential (1.33 V vs RHE at 10 mA cm-2), TOF (0.47 s-1), and Tafel slope (125 mV dec-1). At a 40 mA cm-2 current density, Ni0.15Co0.85-MOF also showed excellent stability during the 72 h tests. This performance of NiCo-BMOF can be assigned to the synergistic effect between Co and Ni, abundant active sites, porosity, and a tunable structure, all of which result in an increased reaction rate due to the acceleration of charge and mass transfers. Thus, the present work introduces an efficient noble-metal-free UOR for energy generation from urea-based wastewater.

Abstract
In this paper, a novel CeO2/Co3[Co(CN)6]2 (CeO2/PBACo-Co) composite was prepared with co-precipitation and utilized to activate peroxymonosulfate (PMS) to eliminate tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH). Catalyst screening showed that the composite with a CeO2:PBACo-Co mass ratio of 1:5 (namely, 0.2-CeO2/PBACo-Co) had the best performance. The degradation efficiency of TCH in 0.2-CeO2/PBACo-Co/Oxone system was investigated. The experimental results illustrated that 98% of 50 mg/L TCH and 48.5% of TOC were degraded by 50 mg/L 0.2-CeO2/PBACo-Co and 400 mg/L Oxone within 120 min at 25 °C and initial pH 5.3. Recycling studies showed that the elimination rate of TCH can still achieve 85.8% after five cycles, suggesting that 0.2-CeO2/PBACo-Co composite processes good reusability. Trapping experiments and EPR tests revealed that the reaction system produced multiple active species (1O2, O2•-, SO4•-, and •OH). We proposed the catalytic mechanism of 0.2-CeO2/PBACo-Co for PMS activation, which mainly involves the promoted Co3+/Co2+ cycle by Ce3+ donated electrons. These results indicate that CeO2/PBACo-Co composite is an effective catalyst for wastewater remediation.

Abstract
Electromagnetic (EM) pollution can disrupt the functioning of advanced electronic devices, hence it's necessary to design EM wave absorbers with high-level absorption capabilities. The Ti3C2Tx (MXene) is classified as a potential EM absorbing material; nevertheless, the lack of magnetic loss mechanism leads to its inadequate EM absorbing performance. On this basis, a novel composite design with promising EM absorption properties is hypothesized to be the integration of few-layer MXene and heterogeneous magnetic MOF derivatives (Fe3O4/C) with complementary advantages. Herein, we synthesized two-dimensional (2D) interfacial-polarization-enhanced MXene hybrid (Fe3O4/C/MXene) by electrostatic assembly. It is notable that the interfacial polarization is realized by adding a small amount of magnetic Fe3O4/C. Furthermore, the Fe3O4/C/ MXene demonstrates an astonishing effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) of 10.7 GHz and an excellent EM wave absorption performance (RLmin) of -66.9 dB. Moreover, the radar cross section (RCS) of Fe3O4/C/MXene is lower than -15.1 dB m2 from -90° to 90° with a minimum RCS value of -52.6 dB m2 at 32°. In addition, the significant attenuation of the EM wave is due to the synergistic effect of improved impedance matching, dielectric loss, and magnetic loss. Thus, the magnetized Fe3O4/C/MXene hybrid is expected to emerge as a strong contender for high-performance EM wave absorbers.

Abstract
In this work, Fe3O4/CoNi-MOF was synthesized by a simple solvothermal method. The catalytic performance of 0.2-Fe3O4/CoNi-MOF toward PMS activation was studied by degradation of 20 mg/L methylene blue (MB). The results indicated that 0.2-Fe3O4/CoNi-MOF had good catalytic ability, the removal rate of MB was 99.4% within 60 min with 125 mg/L PMS and 150 mg/L catalyst. Quenching experiment and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) analysis revealed that the singlet oxygen (1O2), superoxide radical (•O2-) and sulfate radical (SO4•-) played a crucial role in the catalytic degradation process. Meantime, mechanism of PMS activation by 0.2-Fe3O4/CoNi-MOF was proposed, the electrons donated by Fe2+ can also enhance the Co-Ni cycles. In conclusion, Fe3O4/CoNi-MOF composite catalyst has the advantages of simple preparation, excellent catalytic activity and reusability, which is an effective catalyst for water pollution control.

Abstract
The preparation of electroactive metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) for applications of supercapacitors and batteries has received much attention and remarkable progress during the past few years. MOF-based materials including pristine MOFs, hybrid MOFs or MOF composites, and MOF derivatives are well designed by a combination of organic linkers (e.g., carboxylic acids, conjugated aromatic phenols/thiols, conjugated aromatic amines, and N-heterocyclic donors) and metal salts to construct predictable structures with appropriate properties. This review will focus on construction strategies of pristine MOFs and hybrid MOFs as anodes, cathodes, separators, and electrolytes in supercapacitors and batteries. Descriptions and discussions follow categories of electrochemical double-layer capacitors (EDLCs), pseudocapacitors (PSCs), and hybrid supercapacitors (HSCs) for supercapacitors. In contrast, Li-ion batteries (LIBs), Lithium-sulfur batteries (LSBs), Lithium-oxygen batteries (LOBs), Sodium-ion batteries (SIBs), Sodium-sulfur batteries (SSBs), Zinc-ion batteries (ZIBs), Zinc-air batteries (ZABs), Aluminum-sulfur batteries (ASBs), and others (e.g., LiSe, NiZn, H+ , alkaline, organic, and redox flow batteries) are categorized for batteries.

Abstract
Bimetal-organic frameworks (BMOFs) have attracted considerable attention as electrode materials for energy storage devices because of the precise control of their porous structure, surface area, and pore volume. BMOFs can promote multiple redox reactions because of the enhanced charge transfer between different metal ions. Therefore, the electroactivity of the electrodes can be significantly improved. Herein, we report a NiCo-MOF (NCMF) with a three-dimensional hierarchical nanorod-like structure prepared using a facile solvo-hydrothermal method. The as-prepared NCMF was used as the positive electrode in a hybrid pouch-type asymmetric supercapacitor device (HPASD) with a gel electrolyte (KOH+PVA) and activated carbon as the negative electrode. Because of the matchable potential windows and specific capacitances of the two electrodes, the assembled HPASD exhibits a specific capacitance of 161 F·g-1 at 0.5 A·g-1, an energy density of 50.3 Wh·kg-1 at a power density of 375 W·kg-1, and a cycling stability of 87.6% after 6000 cycles. The reported unique synthesis strategy is promising for producing high-energy-density electrode materials for supercapacitors.

Abstract
Bimetallic metal organic frameworks (BMOFs) are a class of crystalline solids and their structure comprises two metal ions in the lattice. BMOFs show a synergistic effect of two metal centres and enhanced properties compared to MOFs. By controlling the composition and relative distribution of two metal ions in the lattice the structure, morphology, and topology of BMOFs could be regulated resulting in an improvement in the tunability of pore structure, activity, and selectivity. Thus, developing BMOFs and BMOF incorporated membranes for applications such as adsorption, separation, catalysis, and sensing is a promising strategy to mitigate environmental pollution and address the looming energy crisis. Herein we present an overview of recent advancements in the area of BMOFs and a comprehensive review of BMOF incorporated membranes reported to date. The scope, challenges as well as future perspectives for BMOFs and BMOF incorporated membranes are presented.

Abstract
High energy density is still difficult to achieve using existing metal sulfides because of their low specific capacitance. To improve capacitance, a series of nickel and cobalt metal sulfides with different Ni/Co ratios were synthesized by a two-step hydrothermal method. Using the combining method of experimental research and first-principles calculation, the morphology, structural stability, electronic structure and electrochemical properties of metal sulfides were investigated systematically. The results show that the morphology of metal sulfides gradually grows from two-dimensional structure to nanotube arrays, and finally to nanorod arrays, as the Ni/Co ratios decrease. Among them, the NC24 sample with the Ni/Co ratio of 1 : 2 is a hollow nanotube array composed of NiCo2S4, which shows excellent electrochemical performance. The specific capacity of the NC24 sample reaches 1527C g-1 at 1 A g-1, and the capacity retention is 93.81% at 10 A g-1 after 2000 cycles. Furthermore, a symmetrical supercapacitor assembled from the NiCo2S4 nanotube array shows a high energy density of 67.5 W h kg-1. This strategy develops a nanotube array of metal sulfides and expands its application in a high energy density supercapacitor.

Abstract
As a novel electrode material for energy storage, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) emerge with plenty of merits and certain drawbacks in the field of supercapacitors. Nevertheless, most MOFs synthesized for the moment are faced with dimension/distribution issues and dissatisfactory electrical conductivity. Hence, in this paper, NiCo-MOF was successfully fabricated by applying a one-step solvothermal method, from which NiCo-MOF-3 presents an optimal electrochemical performance compared to other NiCo-MOFs and Ni/Co-MOF. Owing to its unique three-dimensional spherical raspberry structure, NiCo-MOF-3 demonstrates an available internal resistance and electron transfer resistance to ameliorate electrical energy storage, exhibiting an excellent mass specific capacitance of 639.8 F/g at 1 A/g. Then, a flexible quasi-solid-state asymmetric supercapacitor was assembled with NiCo-MOF-3 as the positive electrode. The introduction of K3[Fe(CN)6] and glycerin in the gel electrolyte facilitates the maximum energy density of 66.3 Wh/kg of the device, with a corresponding power density reaching its maximum of 12,047 W/kg. The device's apparent energy density, excellent flexibility, and temperature resistance reveal that our method to prepare supercapacitor electrode material possesses more advantages than those in the former literature.

Abstract
The oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is crucial to electrochemical hydrogen production. However, designing and fabricating efficient electrocatalysts still remains challenging. By confinedly coordinating organic ligands with metal species in layered double hydroxides (LDHs), an innovative LDHs-assisted approach is developed to facilely synthesize freestanding bimetallic 2D metal-organic framework nanosheets (2D MOF NSs), preserving the metallic components and activities in OER. Furthermore, the research has demonstrated that the incorporation of carboxyl organic ligands coordinated with metal atoms as proton transfer mediators endow 2D MOF NSs with efficient proton transfer during the electrochemical OHads → Oads transition. These freestanding NiFe-2D MOF NSs require a small overpotential of 260 mV for a current density of 10 mA cm-2 . When this strategy is applied to LDH nanosheets grown on nickel foam, the overpotential can be reduced to 221 mV. This outstanding OER activity supports the capability of multimetallic organic frameworks for the rational design of water oxidation electrocatalysts. This strategy provides a universal path to the synthesis of 2D MOF NSs that can be used as electrocatalysts directly.

Abstract
Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs), a novel class of porous extended crystalline structures, are favored in different fields of heterogeneous catalysis, CO2 separation and conversion, and energy storage (supercapacitors) due to their convenience of synthesis, structural tailor-ability, tunable pore size, high porosity, large specific surface area, devisable structures, and adjustable compositions. Nickel (Ni) is a ubiquitous element extensively applied in various fields of catalysis and energy storage due to its low cost, high abundance, thermal and chemical stability, and environmentally benign nature. Ni-based MOFs and their derivatives provide us with the opportunity to modify different properties of the Ni center to improve their potential as heterogeneous catalysts or energy storage materials. The recent achievements of Ni-MOFs and their derivatives as catalysts, membrane materials for CO2 separation and conversion, electrode materials and their respective performance have been discussed in this review.

Abstract
While supercapacitors have been widely studied as the next generation of energy storage devices, to develop active electrode materials for enhancing device performance is still challenging. Herein, we fabricated asymmetric supercapacitors based on NiZn-Layered double hydroxide (LDH) @NiCoSe2hierarchical nanostructures as electrode materials. The NiZn-LDH@NiCoSe2composites are deposited on Ni foam by a two-step strategy, in which NiZn-LDH nanosheets were firstly grown on Ni foam by hydrothermal method, and then NiCoSe2particles were prepared by electrodeposition. Due to the synergistic effect between NiZn-LDH and NiCoSe2, excellent device performance was achieved. In a three-electrode system, the NiZn-LDH@NiCoSe2exhibits a specific capacitance of 2980 F g-1at 1 A g-1. Furthermore, the asymmetric supercapacitor of NiZn-LDH@NiCoSe2//activated carbon (AC) device was assembled, which exhibits the energy density of 49.2 Wh kg-1at the power density of 160 W kg-1, with the capacity retention rate is 91% after 8000 cycles. The results indicates that NiZn-LDH@NiCoSe2is a promising candidate as electrode materials for efficient energy storage devices.

Abstract
Ultrathin two-dimensional metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have convincing performances in energy storage, which can be put down to their accessible active sites with rapid charge transfer. Herein, NiCo-layered double hydroxide (LDH) nanosheet arrays are used as self-sacrificial templates to in situ fabricate ultrathin NiCo-MOF nanosheet arrays on Ni foam (NS/NF) by using organic ligands without adding metal sources. Two ultrathin MOF nanosheets with different ligands, terephthalate (BDC) and 2-aminoterephthalate (NH2-BDC), are synthesized, characterized, and discussed in detail. Specifically, NiCo-NH2-BDC-MOF NS/NF exhibits the best electrochemical performance as a battery-type electrode for supercapacitors, achieves an areal capacitance of 12.13 F cm-2 at a current density of 2 mA cm-2, and retains the original capacitance of 73.08 % after 5000 cycles at a current density of 50 mA cm-2. Furthermore, when NiCo-NH2-BDC-MOF NS/NF is assembled with activated carbon (AC) to form an asymmetric supercapacitor (ASC), an energy density of 0.81 mWh cm-2 can be provided at a power density of 1.60 mW cm-2. These results offer an effective and controllable synthetic strategy to in situ prepare ultrathin MOF nanosheet arrays with different ligands and metal ions from LDH precursors.

Abstract
Metal-organic frames (MOFs) are regarded as excellent candidates for supercapacitors that have attracted much attention because of their diversity, adjustability and porosity. However, both poor structural stability in aqueous alkaline electrolytes and the low electrical conductivity of MOF materials constrain their practical implementation in supercapacitors. In this study, bimetallic CoNi-MOF were synthesized to enhance the electrical conductivity and electrochemical activity of nickel-based MOF, as well as the electrochemical performance of the CoNi-MOF in multiple alkaline electrolytes was investigated. The CoNi-MOF/active carbon device, as-fabricated with a 1 M KOH electrolyte, possesses a high energy density of 35 W h kg-1with a power density of 1450 W kg-1, exhibiting outstanding cycling stability of 95% over 10,000 cycles. The design of MOF-based electrode materials and the optimization selection of electrolytes pave the way for constructing high-performance supercapacitors.

Abstract
Bimetallic metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with an ultrathin configuration are compelling materials for developing high-performance energy storage devices on account of their unique structural merits. Herein, a hydrangea-like NiCo-MOF is well prepared using controllable solvothermal and cation-exchange processes, synchronously achieving bimetallic nodes and hierarchical ultrathin architecture. The structural superiority enables NiCo-MOF of expanded electrons' transfer pathways and multitudinous electrolytes' diffusion channels, resulting in a significant enhancement in pseudocapacitive performance. Coupling with the bimetallic nature and constructional advantages, NiCo-MOF shows superior gravimetric capacity (832.6 C g-1 at 1 A g-1) and electrochemical kinetics to those of monometallic Ni-MOF and Co-MOF. Importantly, the quasi-solid-state hybrid supercapacitor (HSC) based on the NiCo-MOF cathode and active carbon (AC) anode delivers a desirable energy density (45.3 Wh kg-1 at 847.8 W kg-1), a favorable power density (7160.0 W kg-1 at 23.3 Wh kg-1), a remarkable cyclability (82.4% capacity retention over 7000 cycles), and a capability of driving miniature electronics, exhibiting its potential in practical applications. This work presents an efficient design strategy to develop kinetics-favorable MOF materials for energy storage.

Abstract
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and their derivatives are promising materials for energy conversion and storage. This study demonstrates a solvent-free method to fabricate a CoOx/carbon composite array derived from ZIF-67 for asymmetric supercapacitors. Tree-like Co metal arrays are electrodeposited on a surface and then directly converted into composite ZIF-67/Co-based MOF arrays via a chemical vapor deposition method (MOF-CVD). Finally, the CoOx/carbon composite array is obtained by regulated calcination of the ZIF-67/Co composite array. The as-prepared CoOx/carbon composite arrays provide a less tortuous pathway for ion diffusion, high pseudocapacitance from transition-metal oxides, and good electrical conductivity from carbon. Moreover, the absence of adhesives in array electrodes is also beneficial to the promotion of the electrochemical performance. The as-fabricated CoOx/carbon composite array electrode shows excellent electrochemical performance with high energy density, high power density, superior rate capability, and long cycle life in an asymmetric supercapacitor. These MOF-derived composite arrays are promising candidate materials for power sources because of their good electrochemical performance.

Abstract
Controlling the growth of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) at the micro-/nanoscopic scale will result in new physical properties and novel functions into the materials without changing the chemical identities and the characteristic features of the MOFs themselves. Herein, we report a facile approach to synthesize a series of MOFs [Co-MOF, CoxNiy-MOFs (x and y represent the molar ratio of Co2+ and Ni2+ and x/y = 1:1, 1:5, 1:10, 1:15, and 1:20), and Ni-MOF] with a one-dimensional micro-/nanoscaled rod-like architecture. From Co-MOF to CoxNiy-MOFs to Ni-MOF, the diameters of the rods turn to be spindly with the increase of Ni2+ content which will facilitate the supercapacitor performances. Interestingly, Co1Ni20-MOF exhibits a highest specific capacity of 597 F g-1 at 0.5 A g-1 and excellent cycle performance (retained 93.59% after 4000 cycles) among these MOF materials owing to its micro-/nanorod structure with a smaller diameter and the synergy effect between the optimum molar ratio of Co2+ and Ni2+.

Abstract
Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) have been considered as one of the most promising electrode materials for electrochemical capacitors due to their large specific surface area and abundant pore structure. Herein, we report a Co-MOF electrode with a vertical-standing 2D parallelogram-like nanoarray structure on a Ni foam substrate via a one-step solvothermal method. The as-prepared Co-MOF on a Ni foam electrode delivered a high area-specific capacitance of 582.0 mC cm−2 at a current density of 2 mA cm−2 and a good performance rate of 350.0 mC cm−2 at 50 mA cm−2. Moreover, an asymmetric electrochemical capacitor (AEC) device (Co-MOF on Ni foam//AC) was assembled by using the as-prepared Co-MOF on a Ni foam as the cathode and a active carbon-coated Ni foam as the anode to achieve a maximum energy density of 0.082 mW cm−2 at a power density of 0.8 mW cm−2, which still maintained 0.065 mW cm−2 at a high power density of 11.94 mW cm−2. Meanwhile, our assembled device exhibited an excellent cycling stability with a capacitance retention of nearly 100% after 1000 cycles. Therefore, this work provides a simple method to prepare MOF-based material for the application of energy storage and conversion.

Abstract
Designing and synthesizing new materials with special physical and chemical properties are the key steps to assembling high performance supercapacitors. Metal organic framework (MOF) derived porous carbon materials have drawn great attention in supercapacitors because of their large specific surface area, high chemical/thermal stability and tunable pore structure. Thus, the recent development of porous carbon as an electrode material for supercapacitors is reviewed. The types, design and synthesis strategies of porous carbon are systematically summarized. This review will be divided into three main parts: (1) the design and synthesis of MOF precursors and templates for MOF-derived porous carbon materials; (2) the application of different types of MOF-derived carbon in supercapacitors; and (3) the design of typical structures of porous carbon composites for supercapacitors. Finally, the problems and challenges confronted when using porous carbon are assessed and elaborated, and some suggestions on future research directions are proposed.

Abstract
Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) with numerous potential pseudocapacitive sites are quite appealing to supercapacitors with high specific and areal capacitances. However, MOFs suffer from a low conductivity nature, resulting in a mediocre electrochemical performance. Herein, we propose a template-growth strategy of MOF to enhance both specific and areal capacitances of MOF as the electrode material for supercapacitor. As the loading mass of MOF increases from 2 to 5 mg, the specific capacitance also increases from 937 to 2387 Fg-1 (431 to 1098 Cg-1) and areal capacitance 1.87 to 11.94 Fcm-2 (0.86 to 5.49 Ccm-1). Accordingly, a hybrid MOF//AC supercapacitor can deliver a maximum energy density of 67 Wh kg-1 and a maximum power density of 6000 W kg-1. These results point to a way to fabricate MOF electrode of supercapacitor with high specific and areal capacitance, which leads them to a more practical future.

Abstract
The practical exploration of electrode materials with complex hollow structures is of considerable significance in energy storage applications. Mixed-metal selenides (MMSs) with favorable architectures emerge as new electrode materials for supercapacitor (SC) applications owing to their excellent conductivity. Herein, a facile and effective metal-organic framework (MOF)-derived strategy is introduced to encapsulate multi-shelled zinc-cobalt-selenide hollow nanosphere positive and yolk-double shell cobalt-iron-selenide hollow nanosphere negative electrode materials with controlled shell numbers in a graphene network (denoted as G/MSZCS-HS and G/YDSCFS-HS, respectively) for SC applications. Due to the considerable electrical conductivity and unique structures of both electrodes, the G/MSZCS-HS positive and G/YDSCFS-HS negative electrodes exhibit remarkable capacities (∼376.75 mA h g-1 and 293.1 mA h g-1, respectively, at 2 A g-1), superior rate performances (83.4% and 74%, respectively), and an excellent cyclability (96.8% and 92.9%, respectively). Furthermore, an asymmetric device (G/MSZCS-HS//G/YDSCFS-HS) has been fabricated with the ability to deliver an exceptional energy density (126.3 W h kg-1 at 902.15 W kg-1), high robustness of 91.7%, and a reasonable capacity of 140.3 mA h g-1.

Abstract
α-Fe2O3 nanotubes are exceptional one-dimensional transition metal oxide materials with low density, large surface area, promising electrochemical and photoelectrochemical properties, which are widely investigated in lithium-ion batteries, photoelectrochemical devices, gas sensors, and catalysis. They have drawn significant attention to the fields of energy storage and conversion, and environmental sensing and remediation due to the increase in the global energy crisis and environmental pollution. Many efforts have been made toward controlling the morphology or impurity doping to improve the intrinsic properties of α-Fe2O3 nanotubes. In this review, we introduce the synthesis methods and physicochemical properties of α-Fe2O3 nanotubes. The fabrication conditions, which are important for the physicochemical properties of materials, are also listed to describe the synthesis processes. Furthermore, the development and breakthrough of various applications in batteries, supercapacitors, photoelectrochemical devices, environmental remediation, and sensors are systematically reviewed. Finally, some of the current challenges and future perspectives for α-Fe2O3 nanotubes are discussed. We believe that this timely and critical mini-review will stimulate extensive studies and attract more attention, further improving the development of the α-Fe2O3 (hematite) nanotube structure.

Abstract
Mixed-metal metal-organic frameworks (M-MOFs) consist of at least two different metal ions as nodes in the same framework. The incorporation of a second or more metal ions provides structural/compositional diversity, multi-functionality and stability to the framework. Moreover, the periodical array of different metal ions in the framework may alter the physical/chemical properties of M-MOFs and result in fascinating applications. M-MOFs with exciting structural features offer superior supercapacitor performances compared to single metal MOFs due to the synergic effect of different metal ions. In this review, we summarize several synthetic methods to construct M-MOFs by employing various organic ligands or metalloligands. Further, we discuss the electrochemical performance of several M-MOFs and their derived composite materials for supercapacitor applications.
