One-Pot Syntheses of Sterically Shielded Phosphorus Ligands by Selective Stepwise Nucleophilic Substitution at Triphenyl Phosphite

Pd-Catalyzed Regiodivergent Hydrocarboxylation of Olefins with Oxalic Acid: A Remarkable Effect of the Counteranion on Regioselectivity

A regioselective Pd-catalyzed hydrocarboxylation of vinyl arenes with oxalic acid is described. A wide variety of either linear or branched carboxylic acids can be readily obtained with high regioselectivities under mild reaction conditions. The reaction process is operationally simple and requires no handling of toxic CO. Besides the ligand, the counteranion of the Pd catalyst system plays an important role in the regioselectivity.

A Cavity-Shaped Gold(I) Fragment Enables CO2 Insertion into Au-OH and Au-NH Bonds

A cavity-shaped linear gold(I) hydroxide complex acts as a platform to access unusual gold monomeric species. Notably, this sterically crowded gold fragment enables the trapping of CO₂ via insertion into Au-OH and Au-NH bonds to form unprecedented monomeric gold(I) carbonate and carbamate complexes. In addition, we succeeded in the identification of the first gold(I) terminal hydride bearing a phosphine ligand. The basic nature of the Au(I)-hydroxide moiety is also explored through the reactivity toward other molecules containing acidic protons such as trifluoromethanesulfonic acid and terminal alkynes.

Comprehensive Review on Synthesis, Properties, and Applications of Phosphorus (PIII, PIV, PV) Substituted Acenes with More Than Two Fused Benzene Rings

This comprehensive review, covering the years 1968-2022, is not only a retrospective investigation of a certain group of linearly fused aromatics, called acenes, but also a presentation of the current state of the knowledge on the synthesis, reactions, and applications of these compounds. Their characteristic feature is substitution of the aromatic system by one, two, or three organophosphorus groups, which determine their properties and applications. The (P^III, P^IV, P^V) phosphorus atom in organophosphorus groups is linked to the acene directly by a P-C_sp2 bond or indirectly through an oxygen atom by a P-O-C_sp2 bond.

Dicoordinate Au(I)-Ethylene Complexes as Hydroamination Catalysts

A series of gold(I)-ethylene π-complexes containing a family of bulky phosphine ligands has been prepared. The use of these sterically congested ligands is crucial to stabilize the gold(I)-ethylene bond and prevent decomposition, boosting up their catalytic performance in the highly underexplored hydroamination of ethylene. The precatalysts bearing the most sterically demanding phosphines showed the best results reaching full conversion to the hydroaminated products under notably mild conditions (1 bar of ethylene pressure at 60 °C). Kinetic analysis together with density functional theory calculations revealed that the assistance of a second molecule of the nucleophile as a proton shuttle is preferred even when using an extremely congested cavity-shaped Au(I) complex. In addition, we have measured a strong primary kinetic isotopic effect that is consistent with the involvement of X-H bond-breaking events in the protodeauration turnover-limiting step.
