Abstract
Background Aggressive conduct among delinquents presents a pervasive issue, bearing substantial implications for not only society at large but also for the victims and the individuals displaying the aggression. Traditional approaches to treating aggression regulation deficiencies generally employ Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in conjunction with analog role-playing exercises. A body of research supports the efficacy of various therapeutic models for aggression regulation, including Responsive Aggression Regulation Therapy (Re-ART). Role-playing within a therapeutic context has been shown to contribute significantly to reductions in violent reoffending. However, the practical application of these skills in real-world settings remains challenging due to the inherent risk of aggressive outbreaks. Additionally, the conventional role-playing scenarios, often conducted in a therapy room, lack contextual realism and may induce role confusion between the patient and the therapist. Virtual Reality (VR) technology could offer a viable solution to these limitations by allowing for skill training in both behavioral and cognitive domains within a realistic yet safe and controlled setting. The technology also facilitates real-time awareness of emotional states and tension levels in the patient. This paper describes the study protocol of a randomized controlled trial in which Re-ART offered in a virtual environment (Re-ART VR) is compared to Re-ART offered as treatment as usual. Methods and analysis Adult forensic outpatients with aggression regulation problems are randomly assigned to either Re-ART VR or Re-ART. The Controlling Skills, Influence of Thinking and Handling Conflicts modules will be offered to both groups during 3-6 months. Pre- and post-intervention measurements are performed. The primary outcome measurement is the degree of aggression regulation, while secondary outcome measurements include impulsivity and cognitive biases. Additionally, patient motivation and therapist motivation are expected to act as moderating factors. Discussion To date, scarcely previous research has been done on the effectiveness of VR in treatment of aggression regulation problems in forensic outpatients. Forensic outpatients who do not benefit sufficiently from mainly CBT-based interventions may benefit more from experiential learning. The unique capabilities of VR in this regard have the potential to enhance the treatment effect.Clinical trial registration: [https://clinicaltrials.gov/], identifier [NL78265.018.21].

Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of interactive immediacy on online learning satisfaction, and the mediating effect of learning interest and academic engagement on the relationship between interactive immediacy and online learning satisfaction. 2221 international students in Chinese universities participated in the questionnaire survey. The coefficient omega (ω) and the confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) were used to test the reliability and validity. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to analyze interactive immediacy, learning interest, and academic engagement on online learning satisfaction of international students in Chinese universities, as well as the mediating effect of learning interest and academic engagement. The results showed that interactive immediacy did not directly influence the online learning satisfaction of international students in Chinese universities. Learning interest and academic engagement played a complete mediating role between interactive immediacy and online learning satisfaction. Meanwhile, interactive immediacy not only affected online learning satisfaction of international students in Chinese universities through learning interest and academic engagement respectively, but also indirectly affected online learning satisfaction through the chain mediating effect of learning interest and academic engagement. The results of Bootstrap showed that the mediating effects in the model were significant. The findings of this study explored the underlying mechanism of international students' online learning satisfaction in Chinese universities, which provided an empirical basis for universities and teachers to improve the effect of online teaching, and integrate online teaching and traditional classroom teaching.

Abstract
Aims To assess emergency department (ED) nurses' ability to communicate with angry patients and to explore the factors that influence nurses' communication skills. Design A cross-sectional survey design. Methods This study was conducted in November and December 2020. Stratified sampling was adopted to recruit ED nurses from 18 tertiary hospitals in western, eastern, and central China to complete an online questionnaire. The Nurses' Communication Ability with Angry Patients Scale (NCAAPS) and the General Self-Efficacy Scale were used to assess ED nurses' communication ability and self-efficacy, respectively. Descriptive statistics, the Mann-Whitney U-test, the Kruskal-Wallis H test, Spearman's correlation analysis, and the generalized linear model were used for data analysis. Results A total of 679 valid questionnaires were collected. The mean total score for the NCAAPS was (3.79 ± 0.47), while the scores for its four dimensions were (3.87 ± 0.59) for communication skills, (3.82 ± 0.59) for anger perception, (3.79 ± 0.53) for self-preparation, (3.73 ± 0.54) for exploring the cause of anger. The generalized linear regression analysis result showed that a longer employment duration, previous communication ability training, and higher self-efficacy were significantly and independently associated with higher NCAAPS scores (p < 0.05). Conclusions The mean total score and the four dimensions score for the NCAAPS were moderate. But there is still room for improvement in ED nurses' ability to communicate with angry patients. "Exploring the cause of anger" was the lowest score among the four dimensions. To improve ED nurses' ability to communicate with angry patients, future studies should focus on constructing specific communication training, improving nurses' ability to explore the cause of anger and self-efficacy. Impact The findings of this study provide important insights into ED nurses' ability to communicate with angry patients and can thus guide the future development of intervention programmes to improve this ability among ED nurses.

The Effects of Virtual Reality in Targeting Transdiagnostic Factors for Mental Health: A Systematic Review of the Literature. J Clin Med 2022; 11:jcm11216463. Abstract
Virtual reality (VR) was found to be effective in the treatment of several specific psychopathologies. However, the effects of VR-based interventions beyond the disorder-specific approach and their ability to improve transdiagnostic factors of mental disorders are unknown. This PRISMA systematic review was conducted using databases PubMed and PsycINFO, searching articles published between 2010 and September 2022. Keywords “emotion regulation”, “cognitive reappraisal”, “avoidance”, “impulsivity”, “aggression”, and “disinhibition” were combined with “virtual reality” to retrieve studies showing the effects of VR-based interventions on these transdiagnostic factors. 29 experimental studies and seven case-studies were selected. A total of 23 considered avoidance, eight dealt with emotion regulation, three concerned aggression, two addressed impulsivity, two dealt with cognitive reappraisal, and none examined disinhibition. Most of the studies included anxiety disorder patients (n = 15), especially with specific phobias (n = 8) and social anxiety disorder (n = 4). VR managed to improve all transdiagnostic factors, with results often maintained at follow-ups (n = 21 studies; range: 1–12 months) and similar to traditional interventions (e.g., cognitive-behavioral therapy). Exploring the transdiagnostic potential of VR may help to reduce costs and improve applicability in clinical psychology. While results were promising, further studies are needed for aggression, impulsivity and cognitive reappraisal, especially including follow-ups, comparisons with first-line treatments, and understudied clinical populations.
