Abstract
OBJECTIVES The recognition of arterial phase hyperenhancement (APHE) and washout during the late phase is key for correct diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS). This meta-analysis was conducted to compare SonoVue®-enhanced and Sonazoid®-enhanced ultrasound in the assessment of HCC enhancement and diagnosis. METHODS Studies were included in the analysis if they reported data for HCC enhancement in the arterial phase and late phase for SonoVue® or in the arterial phase and Kupffer phase (KP) for Sonazoid®. Forty-two studies (7502 patients) with use of SonoVue® and 30 studies (2391 patients) with use of Sonazoid® were identified. In a pooled analysis, the comparison between SonoVue® and Sonazoid® CEUS was performed using chi-square test. An inverse variance weighted random-effect model was used to estimate proportion, sensitivity, and specificity along with 95% confidence interval (CI). RESULTS In the meta-analysis, the proportion of HCC showing APHE with SonoVue®, 93% (95% CI 91-95%), was significantly higher than the proportion of HCC showing APHE with Sonazoid®, 77% (71-83%) (p < 0.0001); similarly, the proportion of HCC showing washout at late phase/KP was significantly higher with SonoVue®, 86% (83-89%), than with Sonazoid®, 76% (70-82%) (p < 0.0001). The sensitivity and specificity for the detection of APHE plus late-phase/KP washout detection in HCC were also higher with SonoVue® than with Sonazoid® (sensitivity 80% vs 52%; specificity 80% vs 73% in studies within unselected patient populations). CONCLUSION APHE and late washout in HCC are more frequently observed with SonoVue® than with Sonazoid®. This may affect the diagnostic performance of CEUS in the diagnosis of HCCs. CLINICAL RELEVANCE STATEMENT Meta-analysis data show the presence of key enhancement features for diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma is different between ultrasound contrast agents, and arterial hyperenhancement and late washout are more frequently observed at contrast-enhanced ultrasound with SonoVue® than with Sonazoid®. KEY POINTS • Dynamic enhancement features are key for imaging-based diagnosis of HCC. • Arterial hyperenhancement and late washout are more often observed in HCCs using SonoVue®-enhanced US than with Sonazoid®. • The existing evidence for contrast-enhanced US may need to be considered being specific to the individual contrast agent.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES In this study, ultrasound (US) contrast arthrography and subacromial-subdeltoid bursography with the contrast agent of SonoVue were performed to evaluate their value for detecting and differentiating the rotator cuff tear (RCT) subtypes in patients with the uncertain RCT. METHODS A total of 102 patients with the clinically suspected RCTs in the orthopedic clinic were prospectively recruited and underwent conventional high-frequency US for the category of undoubted full-thickness RCT, uncertain RCT, and intact rotator cuff. Among these patients, the patients with uncertain RCT underwent the subsequent US contrast arthrography and subacromial-subdeltoid bursography. The arthroscopic findings were used as the gold standard in this study. RESULTS After the conventional US screening, 62 patients with uncertain RCT underwent the subsequent US contrast arthrography and subacromial-subdeltoid bursography. All the US contrast arthrography and subacromial-subdeltoid bursography were successfully performed and no severe side effects were observed in all the patients. For full-thickness tears, the sensitivity and specificity of the combined US contrast arthrography and subacromial-subdeltoid bursography were 94.7% (CI: 0.72-1.0) and 81.4% (CI: 0.66-0.91), respectively, and for articular-side tears 100% (CI: 0.51-1) and 100% (CI: 0.92-1), respectively, and for the bursal-side tears 84.6% (CI: 0.54-0.97) and 97.9% (CI: 0.88-1.0), respectively. The main inconsistency between the contrast-enhanced US and arthroscopy was that 7 patients with arthroscopic proved concurrent articular- and bursal-side tears were indicated as full-thickness RCTs on contrast-enhanced US. CONCLUSIONS Combined US contrast arthrography and subacromial-subdeltoid bursography are useful for detecting the RCT subtypes in patients with the uncertain RCTs. CLINICAL RELEVANCE STATEMENT When conventional high-frequency US has some difficulty in differentiating the full-thickness from partial-thickness RCTs, combined US contrast arthrography and subacromial-subdeltoid bursography could be used to improve the detection accuracy of RCT subtypes. KEY POINTS • This is the first study by injection of the US contrast agent SonoVue into the shoulder joint cavity and subacromial-subdeltoid bursa for the detection and differentiation of the RCT subtypes among the people with the uncertain RCT by conventional US screening. • The SonoVue was injected into the glenohumeral joint cavity under US guidance to differentiate the full-thickness RCTs from partial-thickness RCTs. • Combined US contrast arthrography and subacromial-subdeltoid bursography are useful for detecting the RCT subtypes in patients with the uncertain RCTs.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Advances in precision medicine have expanded access to targeted therapies and demand for molecular profiling of cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) patients in routine clinical practice. However, pathologists face challenges in establishing a definitive intrahepatic CCA (iCCA) diagnosis while preserving sufficient tissue for molecular profiling. Additionally, they frequently face challenges in optimal tissue handling to preserve nucleic acid integrity. AREAS COVERED This article first identifies the challenges in establishing a definitive diagnosis of iCCA in a lesional liver biopsy while preserving sufficient tissue for molecular profiling. Then, the authors explore the clinical value of molecular profiling, the basic principles of single gene and next-generation sequencing (NGS) techniques, and the challenges in tissue sampling for genomic testing. They also propose an algorithm for best practice in tissue management for molecular profiling of CCA. EXPERT OPINION Several practical challenges face pathologists during tissue sampling and processing for molecular profiling. Optimized tissue processing, careful tissue handling, and selection of appropriate approaches to molecular testing are essential to ensure that the highest possible quality of diagnostic information is provided in the greatest proportion of cases.

Abstract
PURPOSE To compare the diagnostic ability between magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) in distinguishing intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) from hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). METHODS Original studies reporting the diagnostic accuracy of MRI and CEUS in differentiating ICC from HCC were identified in PubMed and EMBASE databases. Histopathological examination was used as the reference standard for tumor diagnosis. Study quality was assessed using QUADAS-2 scale. Data were extracted to calculate the pooled diagnostic sensitivity, specificity, and diagnostic odds ratio (DOR) using a bivariate random-effects model, as well as the area under the curve (AUC). Sensitivity analysis, subgroup analysis, meta-regression, and investigation of publication bias were also performed. RESULTS A total of 26 studies with 28 data subsets (18 on MRI, 10 on CEUS) were included, consisting of 4169 patients with 1422 ICC lesions and 2747 HCC lesions. Most MRI studies were performed at 3T with hepatobiliary agents, and most CEUS studies used SonoVue as the contrast agent. In MRI, the pooled sensitivity, specificity, DOR, and AUC in distinguishing ICC from HCC were 0.81 (0.79, 0.84), 0.90 (0.88, 0.91), 41.47 (24.07, 71.44), and 0.93 (0.90, 0.96), respectively. The pooled sensitivity, specificity, DOR, and AUC of CEUS were 0.88 (0.84, 0.90), 0.80 (0.78, 0.83), 42.06 (12.38, 133.23), and 0.93 (0.87, 0.99), respectively. Subgroup analysis and meta-regression analysis demonstrated significant heterogeneity among the studies associated with the type of contrast agent in MRI studies. No publication bias was found. CONCLUSION Both MRI and CEUS showed excellent diagnostic performance in differentiating ICC from HCC. CEUS showed higher pooled sensitivity and MRI showed higher pooled specificity.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To compare the on-site diagnostic performance of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS), computed tomography (CECT), and magnetic resonance imaging (CEMRI) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) across diverse practice settings. METHODS Between May 2019 and April 2022, a total of 2085 patients with 2320 pathologically confirmed focal liver lesions (FLLs) were enrolled. Imaging reports were compared with results from pathology analysis. Diagnostic performance was analyzed in defined size, high-risk factors for HCC, and hospital volume categories. RESULTS Three images achieved similar diagnostic performance in classifying HCC from 16 types of FLLs, including HCC ≤2.0 cm. For HCC diagnosis at low-volume hospitals and HCC with high-risk factors, the accuracy and specificity of CEUS were comparable to CECT and CEMRI, while the sensitivity of CEUS (77.4 and 89.5%, respectively) was inferior to CEMRI (87.0 and 92.8%, respectively). The diagnostic accuracy of CEUS + CEMRI and CEUS + CECT increased by 7.8 and 6.2% for HCC ≤2.0 cm, 8.0 and 5.0% for HCC with high-risk factors, and 7.4 and 5.5% for HCC at low-volume hospitals, respectively, compared with CEMRI/CECT alone. CONCLUSIONS Compared with CECT and CEMRI, CEUS provides adequate diagnostic performance in clinical first-line applications at high-volume hospitals. Moreover, a higher diagnostic performance for HCC is achieved by combining CEUS with CECT/CEMRI compared with any single imaging technique.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The aim of the work described here was to investigate the value of dynamic contrast enhanced ultrasound (DCE-US) and quantitative analysis in pre-operative differential diagnosis of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in non-cirrhotic liver. METHODS In this retrospective study, patients with histopathologically proven ICC and HCC lesions in non-cirrhotic liver were included. All patients underwent contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) examinations with an Acuson Sequoia unit (Siemens Healthineers, Mountain View, CA, USA) unit or LOGIQ E20 (GE Healthcare, Milwaukee, WI, USA) within 1 wk before surgery. SonoVue (Bracco, Milan, Italy) was used as the contrast agent. B-mode ultrasound (BMUS) features and CEUS enhancement patterns were analyzed. DCE-US analysis was performed by VueBox software (Bracco). Two regions of interest (ROIs) were set in the center of the focal liver lesions and their surrounding liver parenchyma. Time-intensity curves (TICs) were generated, and quantitative perfusion parameters were obtained and compared between the ICC and HCC groups using the Student t-test or Mann-Whitney U-test. RESULTS From November 2020 to February 2022, patients with histopathologically confirmed ICC (n = 30) and HCC (n = 24) lesions in non-cirrhotic liver were included. During the arterial phase (AP) of CEUS, ICC lesions exhibited heterogeneous hyperenhancement (13/30, 43.3%), heterogeneous hypo-enhancement (2/30, 6.7 %) and rim-like hyperenhancement (15/30, 50.0%), whereas all HCC lesions exhibited heterogeneous hyperenhancement (24/24, 100.0%) (p < 0.05). Subsequently, most of the ICC lesions exhibited AP wash-out (83.3%, 25/30), whereas a few cases exhibited wash-out in the portal venous phase (PVP) (15.7%, 5/30). In contrast, HCC lesions exhibited AP wash-out (41.7%, 10/24), PVP wash-out (41.7%, 10/24) and a small part of late phase wash-out (16.7%, 4/24) (p < 0.05). Compared with those of HCC lesions, TICs of ICCs revealed earlier and lower enhancement during the AP, faster decline during the PVP and reduced area under the curve. The combined area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC) of all significant parameters was 0.946, with 86.7% sensitivity, 95.8% specificity and 90.7% accuracy in differential diagnosis between ICC and HCC lesions in non-cirrhotic liver, which improved the diagnostic efficacy of CEUS (58.3% sensitivity, 90.0% specificity and 75.9% accuracy). CONCLUSION ICC and HCC lesions in non-cirrhotic liver might exhibit some overlap of CEUS features in diagnosis. DCE-US with quantitative analysis would be helpful in pre-operative differential diagnosis.

Abstract
Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (iCCA) represents the second most common liver cancer after hepatocellular carcinoma, accounting for 15% of primary liver neoplasms. Its incidence and mortality rate have been rising during the last years, and total new cases are expected to increase up to 10-fold during the next two or three decades. Considering iCCA's poor prognosis and rapid spread, early diagnosis is still a crucial issue and can be very challenging due to the heterogeneity of tumor presentation at imaging exams and the need to assess a correct differential diagnosis with other liver lesions. Abdominal contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) plays an irreplaceable role in the evaluation of liver masses. iCCA's most typical imaging patterns are well-described, but atypical features are not uncommon at both CT and MRI; on the other hand, contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) has shown a great diagnostic value, with the interesting advantage of lower costs and no renal toxicity, but there is still no agreement regarding the most accurate contrastographic patterns for iCCA detection. Besides diagnostic accuracy, all these imaging techniques play a pivotal role in the choice of the therapeutic approach and eligibility for surgery, and there is an increasing interest in the specific imaging features which can predict tumor behavior or histologic subtypes. Further prognostic information may also be provided by the extraction of quantitative data through radiomic analysis, creating prognostic multi-parametric models, including clinical and serological parameters. In this review, we aim to summarize the role of contrast-enhanced imaging in the diagnosis and management of iCCA, from the actual issues in the differential diagnosis of liver masses to the newest prognostic implications.

Abstract
Background This paper offers an assessment of diagnostic tools in the evaluation of Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma (ICC). Methods Several electronic datasets were analysed to search papers on morphological and functional evaluation in ICC patients. Papers published in English language has been scheduled from January 2010 to December 2021.
Results We found that 88 clinical studies satisfied our research criteria. Several functional parameters and morphological elements allow a truthful ICC diagnosis. The contrast medium evaluation, during the different phases of contrast studies, support the recognition of several distinctive features of ICC. The imaging tool to employed and the type of contrast medium in magnetic resonance imaging, extracellular or hepatobiliary, should change considering patient, departement, and regional features. Also, Radiomics is an emerging area in the evaluation of ICCs. Post treatment studies are required to evaluate the efficacy and the safety of therapies so as the patient surveillance. Conclusions Several morphological and functional data obtained during Imaging studies allow a truthful ICC diagnosis.

Abstract
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common primary liver neoplasm and one of the most common causes of death in patients with cirrhosis of the liver. In parallel, with recognition of the clinical relevance of this cancer, major new developments have recently appeared in its diagnosis, prognostic assessment and in particular, in its treatment. Therefore, the Spanish Association for the Study of the Liver (AEEH) has driven the need to update the clinical practice guidelines, once again inviting all the societies involved in the diagnosis and treatment of this disease to participate in the drafting and approval of the document: Spanish Society for Liver Transplantation (SETH), Spanish Society of Diagnostic Radiology (SERAM), Spanish Society of Vascular and Interventional Radiology (SERVEI), Spanish Association of Surgeons (AEC) and Spanish Society of Medical Oncology (SEOM). The clinical practice guidelines published in 2016 and accepted as National Health System Clinical Practice Guidelines were taken as the reference documents, incorporating the most important recent advances. The scientific evidence and the strength of the recommendation is based on the GRADE system.

Abstract
AIM To explore the diagnostic ability of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) in distinguishing intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) from hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). MATERIALS AND METHODS PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science were systematically searched for studies reporting the diagnostic accuracy of CEUS in differentiating ICC from HCC. The diagnostic ability of CEUS was assessed based on the pooled sensitivity, specificity, diagnostic odds ratio (DOR), positive likelihood ratio (PLR), negative likelihood ratio (NLR) and area under the curve (AUC) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). The methodologic quality was assessed by the QUADAS-2 tool. Subgroup analyses, meta-regression and investigation of publication bias were performed to identify the source of heterogeneity. RESULTS A total of eight studies were included, consisting of 1,116 patients with HCC and 529 with ICC. The general diagnostic performance of CEUS in distinguishing ICC and HCC were as follows: pooled sensitivity, 0.92 (95% CI: 0.84-0.96); pooled specificity, 0.87 (95% CI: 0.79-0.92); pooled PLR, 7.1 (95% CI: 4.1-12.0); pooled NLR, 0.09 (95% CI: 0.05-0.19); pooled DOR, 76 (95% CI: 26-220) and AUC, 0.95(95% CI: 0.93-0.97). Different liver background may be a potential factor that influenced the diagnostic accuracy of CEUS according to the subgroup analysis, with the pooled DOR of 89.67 in the mixed liver background group and 46.87 in the cirrhosis group, respectively. Six informative CEUS features that may help differentiate HCC from ICC were extracted. The three CEUS features favoring HCC were arterial phase hyperenhancement(APHE), mild washout and late washout (>60s); the three CEUS favoring ICC were arterial rim enhancement, marked washout and early washout(<60s). No potential publication bias was observed. CONCLUSION CEUS showed great diagnostic ability in differentiating ICC from HCC, which may be promising for noninvasive evaluation of these diseases.

Abstract
BACKGROUND HCC as the 6th most common tumor entity with the fourth highest mortality and an increasing prevalence especially due to today's lifestyle acquires a high attention in the clinical setting. Beside CECT and CEMRI, CEUS depicts a dynamic, low-risk and radiation free imaging method that finds its use mainly in screening and active surveillance programs. PURPOSE The aim of the retrospective study was to evaluate the diagnostic value of CEUS in correlation to pathologic findings. MATERIALS AND METHODS Between 2004 and 2018 a total number of 119 patients were included in this retrospective single-center study. Every patient underwent CEUS in addition to a native B-mode and Color-Doppler scan. After given informed consent SonoVue® (Bracco, Milan, Italy), a second-generation blood-pool agent, was used as contrast medium. Every examination was performed and interpreted by a single experienced radiologist (EFSUMB level 3). A low mechanical index (MI) of <0,2 was chosen to obtain a good imaging quality. RESULTS All 119 included patients received CEUS followed by a liver biopsy for inter-modality comparison. In correlation to the pathology results, CEUS showed a diagnostic sensitivity of 96,6%, a specificity of 63,9%, a PPV of 86,7% and a NPV of 88,5% by detecting liver lesions suspicious for HCC. According to the Cohen's Kappa coefficient (k = 0,659) CEUS shows a strong inter-modality agreement in comparison to the histopathological finding. CONCLUSION With a high sensitivity and a strong cross-modality comparability to histopathology, the CEUS is highly effective in the detection of suspicious HCC lesions.

Abstract
To this date, it is a major oncological challenge to optimally diagnose, stage, and manage intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC). Imaging can not only diagnose and stage ICC, but it can also guide management. Hence, imaging is indispensable in the management of ICC. In this article, we review the pathology, epidemiology, genetics, clinical presentation, staging, pathology, radiology, and treatment of ICC.

Abstract
PURPOSE To evaluate feasibility of a wide detector liver CT protocol with three acquisitions in the hepatic arterial phase. METHODS Forty-one patients with cirrhosis prospectively underwent a wide detector axial liver CT protocol. Three 16 cm axial liver acquisitions were obtained during a single breath hold at peak aortic enhancement plus 10, 20, and 25 s. Two readers working separately scored overall exam quality, identified hyperenhancing lesions, and subjectively scored and ranked relative lesion conspicuity. Objective lesion enhancement was measured and CNR calculated. Data were analyzed using a generalized linear models and Tukey's post hoc testing. RESULTS Seventy-one hyperenhancing lesions were identified with average size of 1.8 cm (range 0.4-9.6 cm). The two readers separately identified 60 and 54 lesions on the 10 s arterial acquisition, 70 and 67 on the 20 s, and 52 and 51 on the 25 s. The readers determined all exams had diagnostic image quality. Subjective ranking of lesion conspicuity was greatest at 20 s in 62% of lesions but was greatest at 10 or 25 s in 38%. CNR was highest at 20 s in 58% of lesions but was highest at 10 or 25 s in 42%. Overall, there was no significant difference in mean CNR between the three arterial acquisitions. CONCLUSION A wide detector axial liver CT protocol with three acquisitions in the hepatic arterial phase is technologically feasible and results in diagnostic image quality. With this protocol, peak subjective and objective hyperenhancing lesion conspicuity may be earlier or later than 20 s in up to 40% of lesions.

Methods A cohort of 422 patients with HCC or ICC hospitalized at Xiangya Hospital between January 2014 and December 2018 was included in the study. Univariate and multivariate analysis was performed to identify the independent differential factors. Through combining these independent differential factors, a nomogram was established for differential diagnosis between ICC and HCC. The accuracy of nomogram was evaluated by using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, calibration curve, and decision curve analysis (DCA). The results were validated using a prospective study on 98 consecutive patients operated on from January 2019 to November 2019 at the same institution. Results Sex (OR = 9.001, 95% CI: 3.268‐24.792, P < .001), hepatitis (OR = 0.323, 95% CI: 0.121‐0.860, P = .024), alpha‐fetoprotein (AFP) (OR = 0.997, 95% CI: 0.995‐1.000, P = .046), carbohydrate antigen 19‐9 (CA199) (OR = 1.016, 95% CI: 1.007‐1.025, P < .001), and aspartate transaminase‐to‐neutrophil ratio index (ANRI) (OR = 0.904, 95% CI: 0.843‐0.969, P = .004) were the independent differential factors for ICC. Nomogram was established with well‐fitted calibration curves through incorporating these 5 factors. Comparing model 1 including gender, hepatitis, AFP, and CA199 (C index = 0.903, 95% CI: 0.849‐0.957) and model 2 enrolling AFP and CA199 (C index = 0.850, 95% CI: 0.791‐0.908), the nomogram showed a better discrimination between ICC and HCC, with a C index of 0.920 (95% CI, 0.872‐0.968). The results were consistent in the validation cohort. DCA also confirmed the conclusion. Conclusion A nomogram was established for the differential diagnosis between ICC and HCC preoperatively, and better therapeutic choice would be made if it was applied in clinical practice.

Abstract
Background: As hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) arising from chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection in liver cirrhosis is a major problem in public health, early and rapid prediction of HCC is urgent. We hypothesized that a single nucleotide polymorphism in the Apa1 SNP in the vitamin D receptor may help diagnosis.Methods: We recruited 3 groups: 80 HCC patients with HCV cirrhosis, 80 HCV cirrhotic patients free of HCC and 80 healthy controls. Apa1 rs7975232 SNP was detected by PCR- RFLP technique. Routine laboratory markers were determined by standard methods.Results: The Apa1 CC genotype was more frequent (75%) in HCC than in the cirrhosis (35%) and control (20%) groups (P<0.0001). CC patients were more likely to have a more severe Child-Pugh score (P=0.027) and MELD score (P<0.05). In multivariate analysis, the CC genotype out-performed AFP is determining HCC.Conclusion: Apa1 CC genotype is linked to HCC in HCV C cirrhotic patients, and so has the potential to be an independent biomarker predictor for HCC occurrence in HCV cirrhosis.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to analyze dose-volume histogram (DVH) of the remnant liver for postoperative cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) patients, to find toxicity rates, and to confirm efficacy of postoperative radiation therapy (RT).Thirty-two postoperative CCA patients received partial liver resection and postoperative RT with curative intent. The "liver reduction rate" was calculated by contouring liver volume at computed tomography (CT) just before the surgery and at CT for planning the RT. To evaluate late toxicity, the radiation-induced hepatic toxicity (RIHT) was determined by the common terminology criteria for adverse events toxicity grade of bilirubin, aspartate transaminase, alanine transaminase, alkaline phosphatase, and albumin, and was defined from 3 months after RT until liver metastasis was revealed. The radiation-induced liver disease (RILD) was also evaluated.Tumor stages were distributed as follows: I: 1, II: 8, IIIA: 1, IIIB: 6, IIIC: 14, IVA: 2. Median prescribed total dose was 50 Gy. Median follow-up time was 27 months. Two-year overall survival (OS): 72.4%, disease-free survival: 47.7%, local control: 65.3%, and the median survival time was 40 months. The median "liver reduction rate" was 21%. The OS had statistically significant difference in nodal status (P = .032) and "liver reduction rate" >30% (P = .016). In the association between the ≥grade 2 RIHT and DVH, there were significantly differences in V30 and V40 (P = .041, P = .034), respectively. The grade ≥2 RIHT rates differ also significantly by sex (P = .008). Two patients (6.2%) were suspected of RILD.We suggest that RT for remnant liver should be considered the liver V30, V40 to prevent radiation-induced liver dysfunction.
