Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to develop a total quality management (TQM) model based on the Deming prize criteria extracted from the Deming Prize. The proposed model is aligned with the school education context and deployed with the goal of achieving school excellence.
Design/methodology/approach
The model is developed based on a literature review in which key concepts for formulating the criteria and sub-criteria were identified. A qualitative research approach is applied to validate the model’s effectiveness. Interviews and feedback from an international school in Japan which adopted the model are used to determine its impact.
Findings
The model emphasises the achievement of school objectives (A) by implementing TQM activities (B) and assessing their impact (C). Its implementation offers enhanced organisational ability and the achievement of society-oriented school objectives. The findings show that the model gives clarity to TQM application and offers benefits for schools’ future sustainability.
Originality/value
This research proposes the adoption of a TQM model for educational institutions based on Deming criteria. Based on a comparison with prescriptive models such as Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and ISO 9001, this study shows how the developed model ensures organisational ability in current practice and future growth towards school excellence. Through the formulation of society-oriented school objectives and their linkage with results, it enables schools to create a balanced recognition of important stakeholders and gain consensus in realising the school’s objectives.

Abstract
Mother is a person who has many task and responsibilities daily. In addition, as a working mother, tasks and responsibilities are double and triple, for instance task and chores at home and task at the organization. Total quality management is practices and procedures that organizations use in order to enhance or improve the performance of the employee or the organization. Performance of working mothers is said to be not satisfactory, and their performance may drop after having babies. Some organizations and their colleagues don't seem to be helpful to working mothers after rejoining the workforce right after maternity leave ended. Some organization from other countries provide work-family support policies in order to help these working mothers to balance their lifestyle as mother and as an employee. Some researchers claimed that working mothers tend to have very happy children whilst underperforming in the organization. This chapter seeks to investigate the perception of working mothers on their performance after the implementation of total quality management.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study was to examine the quality performance of the Egyptian manufacturing industry based on Flynn's quality management practices framework.
Design/methodology/approach
A literature-based questionnaire was developed to collect the research data. The sample studied included 193 professionals from different manufacturing firms in Egypt. The research model utilized seven first-order constructs to measure infrastructure and core quality practices and the model was analyzed by structural equation modeling.
Findings
The results of the study showed that infrastructure practices had a positive effect on core quality practices, which in turn, significantly influenced quality performance. The findings confirmed that Egyptian manufacturing firms have a good foundation of quality management practices enabling them to improve quality performance.
Practical implications
This study provides a foundation for Egyptian manufacturing firms to develop a practical plan for implementing total quality management (TQM). In addition, the results of this study will help managers and policy makers develop a thorough understanding of the current status of TQM initiatives, enablers and barriers in Egypt.
Originality/value
The study represents one of the few attempts to examine quality practices and quality performance in the manufacturing sector in Egypt. To the best of the author's knowledge, this is the first study to examine these parameters in this context in Egypt.

Abstract
Purpose
The study's goal is to look at how total quality management (TQM), enterprise resource planning (ERP) and organizational performance interact to affect organizational excellence.
Design/methodology/approach
A survey questionnaire research design was used to achieve the goal of this study through the hypothesized model. The information was obtained from a Dubai police organization. Out of 550 questionnaires, 320 questionnaires were returned. To analyze the data for measurement and structural models, the structural equation modeling (SEM) partial least squares method was used.
Findings
The statistical results confirmed the positive and significant effects of TQM and ERP on organizational performance. The mediation role of organizational performance between TQM, ERP and organizational excellence also was confirmed.
Practical implications
More details and significant consequences have been explored in this study. The findings have a number of practical implications. The findings also assist practitioners and managers in making the best decisions while incorporating TQM, ERP and excellence practices in their organizations. Organizations will achieve optimum strong excellence and stay competitive in a competitive market by integrating the effects of TQM, ERP and organizational performance.
Originality/value
This study is another empirical investigation into the combined impact of TQM, ERP and performance on excellence relationships. In other words, the current study is one of the few that investigates the mediating role of organizational performance as a variable alongside organizational excellence as the ultimate variable in developing countries, specifically in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Abstract
Companies implement lean manufacturing (LM) tools in their production processes to reduce waste; however, it is difficult to quantify the effect on benefits gained after their implementation. This article proposes a structural equations model (SEM) that relates three LM tools associated with quality as total quality management (TQM), waste, and right first time (RFT) as independent variables associated with commercial benefits gained as a dependent variable. Those four variables were related by six hypotheses that were validated with information from 169 responses to a survey applied to the Mexican maquiladora industry. Partial least squared was used to validate the hypotheses as direct effects. The sum of indirect and total effects was also estimated, and a sensitivity analysis was developed for relationships between variables. Findings indicate that TQM directly affects waste reduction, drives doing RFT, and directly and indirectly affects the commercial benefits gained.

Abstract
Purpose
Total quality management (TQM) has been a universally applienod management strategy to improve organizational performance and thereby to achieve competitiveness. Compared with the scholarly and practical attention paid to identify the consequences of implementing TQM practices, little is known about how those practices enhance organizational image and employee satisfaction. This paper aims to address that research gap and is designed to empirically prove the relationship between TQM practices, organizational image and employee satisfaction.
Design/methodology/approach
A questionnaire-based survey of 285 employees including administrators, managers and heads of departments of 21 National Accreditation Board for Hospital and Healthcare providers-accredited hospitals in India was conducted. The proposed research model was tested using partial least squares based structural equation modelling.
Findings
The results revealed that TQM practices have positive direct and indirect effects on employee satisfaction, confirming the partial mediation role played by organizational image in the relationship between TQM practices and employee satisfaction.
Research limitations/implications
From the findings, leaders can understand that by implementing TQM practices, organizations can enhance image of the organization and bring high level of employee satisfaction.
Originality/value
The study tries to answer questions largely ignored in the TQM literature: the effect of TQM practices on organizational image and employee satisfaction, and the mediating role of organizational image on TQM practices and employee satisfaction.

Abstract
Purpose
Though extant literature proposes buyer–seller information sharing as a crucial variable for quality improvement, there is a dearth of empirical understanding of how it affects procurement quality performance. The present study aimed at addressing this knowledge gap by using small- and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) in a developing African economy as an empirical context.
Design/methodology/approach
The research hypotheses are tested on survey data from 138 SMEs in Ghana using structural equation modeling.
Findings
Results show that buyer–seller information sharing is positively related to procurement quality performance and that high levels of buyer–seller information sharing lower procurement quality performance.
Research limitations/implications
Though the study demonstrates that there is a limit to the procurement quality performance benefit of buyer-seller information sharing, it does not empirically analyze the conditions that may relax this limit.
Practical implications
This research highlights both the bright and dark sides associated with buyer-seller information sharing and how they work out to determine procurement quality performance. It shows that SMEs could optimize procurement quality performance when they pursue a moderate level of buyer–seller information sharing.
Originality/value
This research advances the sparse literature on the procurement quality performance construct and its determinants within the context of SMEs. Unlike prior research that focuses on information technology, this study explicitly analyzes the role of information sharing in determining procurement (quality) performance and shows that differing levels of buyer–seller information sharing impact procurement quality performance differently.
