Abstract
AIMS This study aimed to explore the interactions between healthcare providers and parents of children or adolescents with epilepsy. A qualitative systematic review based on the theory-generating meta-synthesis research approach proposed by Finfgeld-Connett (2018) was applied. MATERIALS AND METHODS We searched for empirical qualitative studies in five electronic databases (PubMed, Embase, CINAHL, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science), from January 1, 2003 to February 9, 2023. Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines were used to guide the selection process, and two researchers independently assessed the methodological quality of the articles using the Critical Appraisal Skills Programme Qualitative Studies Checklist. RESULTS Of the 4,768 studies initially imported for screening, 27 studies were reviewed and synthesized. Only one qualitative study directly focused on the interactions between parents and healthcare providers, but various studies mentioning such interaction as themes or sub-themes of other phenomena allowed us to draw out common attributes. Defining attribute, "journey through the three stages of interaction," were derived as follows: Stage 1: trust vs. mistrust; Stage 2: autonomy vs. doubt; Stage 3: adaptation. The antecedents included encounters with healthcare providers and parent empowerment. A patient-centered approach was found to be the consequence. CONCLUSION It is important for parents of children or adolescents with epilepsy to empower themselves and increase their interactions. Considering the stage of interaction, healthcare providers and researchers should explore strategies to promote effective communication. Further research is required to develop strategies aimed at supporting parents and healthcare providers to achieve the tasks at each stage and maintain Stage 3, "adaptation."

Abstract
PURPOSE Dried blood spot (DBS) is one of promising home sampling methods for therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM). However, the associated reliability and feasibility (including yield, adherence, and preference), which are criteria for the promotion of home-based DBS, remain unknown. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the reliability and feasibility of TDM using DBS sampling. METHODS In this study, a combination of MeSH and free terms for (dried blood spot*[title/abstract])AND ("Drug Monitoring"[Mesh])AND(home OR venous)was surveyed using EMBASE, PubMed, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science upon gathering published. we registered this study protocol with the International Prospective Registry of Systematic Reviews (CRD42021247559). RESULTS Approximately half (35/75) of the evaluations reported good agreement between DBS and plasma, and the results for drugs with poor agreement may be improved using a haematocrit-based physiological equation. The yield and adherence to home-based DBS exceeded 87%, and questionnaire-based preference for DBS was 77%. CONCLUSIONS DBS may be a reliable and feasible home sampling method; however, it requires intricate design and evaluation before implementation.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Conventional sampling for pharmacokinetic clinical studies requires removal of large blood volumes from patients. This can result in a physiological/emotional burden for children. Microsampling to support pharmacokinetic clinical studies in pediatrics may reduce this burden. METHODS Parents/guardians and bedside nurses completed a questionnaire describing their perception of the use of microsampling compared to conventional sampling to collect blood samples, based on their child's participation or their own role within a paired-sample pharmacokinetic clinical study. Responses were based on a seven-point Likert scale and were analyzed using frequency distributions. RESULTS Fifty-one parents/guardians and seven bedside nurses completed a questionnaire. Parents/guardians (96%) and bedside nurses (100%) indicated that microsampling was highly acceptable and recommended as a method for collecting blood samples for pediatric patients. Responding to a question about the child indicating pain during the blood sampling procedure, 61% of parent/guardians reported no pain in their children, 14% remained neutral, and 26% reported that their child indicated pain; 71% of the bedside nurses slightly agreed that the children indicated pain. CONCLUSIONS This study strongly suggests that parents/guardians and bedside nurses prefer microsampling to conventional sampling to conduct pediatric pharmacokinetic clinical studies. Employing microsampling may support increased participation by children in these studies. IMPACT Pharmacokinetic clinical studies require the withdrawal of blood samples at multiple times during a dosing interval. This can result in a physiological or emotional burden, particularly for neonates or pediatric patients. Microsampling offers an important opportunity for pharmacokinetic clinical studies in vulnerable patient populations, where smaller sample volumes can be collected. However, microsampling is not commonly used in clinical studies. Understanding the perceptions of parents/guardians and bedside nurses about microsampling may ascertain if this technique offers an improvement to conventional blood sample collection to perform pharmacokinetic clinical studies for pediatric patients.
