A new Xilithus species from Hubei, China (Araneae, Phrurolithidae)

Background

The genus Xilithus Liu & Li, 2023 contains 22 species, three of which are known from Hubei Province, China: X.acerosus (Yao, Irfan & Peng, 2019), X.auritus (Fu, Zhang & Zhang, 2016) and X.xingdoushanensis (Yao, Irfan & Peng, 2019).

New information

One new Xilithus species from Hubei, China is described: X.qizimeishanensis Liu & Hu sp. nov. Morphological description, digital photos and distribution map are provided.

Further additions to the guardstone spider fauna from China (Araneae: Phrurolithidae)

Twenty-three new phrurolithid species belonging to eight genera, including two new genera, are described from China: Beatitas gen. nov. and Punctus gen. nov., Abdosetae baoting sp. nov., Aculithus brevispina sp. nov., Alboculus yanling sp. nov., Beatitas octomaculatus sp. nov., Otacilia allomanubrium sp. nov., O. guposhan sp. nov., O. horizon sp. nov., O. impleta sp. nov., O. maliu sp. nov., O. shaoyao sp. nov., O. shennongjia sp. nov., O. spina sp. nov., O. striata sp. nov., O. subdentigera sp. nov., O. subforcipata sp. nov., O. wenbi sp. nov., O. yongjia sp. nov., Pennalithus liaoning sp. nov., P. micous sp. nov., Punctus maoxian sp. nov., P. taibai sp. nov., Xilithus pugious sp. nov., and X. wangi sp. nov.. The male of Otacilia ailan Liu et al., 2019 and the female of Grandilithus fengshan Liu & Li, 2022 are described for the first time. Two new combinations, Aculithus pseudofabiformis (Liang et al., 2021) comb. nov. and Corealithus nigerus (Yin, 2012) comb. nov., are established. Corealithus subnigerus (Fu, Chen & Zhang, 2016) syn. n. is also synonymized with C. nigerus comb. nov.. Three species, Otacilia dawushan Liu & Li, 2022 syn. n., O. xingguo Liu & Li, 2022 syn. n. and O. zhonglong Liu & Li, 2022 syn. n., are synonymized with O. wugongshanica Liu, 2020.

A survey of the Phrurolithidae (Arachnida: Araneae) of Damingshan National Natural Reserve, south China

Species of the spider family Phrurolithidae of Damingshan National Natural Reserve, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China are surveyed. Five species from two genera are described as new to science, accompanied with photographs, SEM images and line drawings: Grandilithus bialatus sp. nov. (♀), Otacilia damingshanica sp. nov. (♂, ♀), O. haitun sp. nov. (♂, ♀), O. longissima sp. nov. (♂, ♀), and O. tingwei sp. nov. (♂, ♀). Furthermore, G. nonggang (Liu, Xu, Xiao, Yin & Peng, 2019) is recorded in this reserve. Distributions records of all treated species are mapped.

A survey of Phrurolithidae spiders from Jinggang Mountain National Nature Reserve, Jiangxi Province, China

Phrurolithidae spiders were collected from Jinggang Mountain National Nature Reserve, Jiangxi Province, China, during the past six years. The new genus Alboculus Liu, gen. nov., with the type species Phrurolithuszhejiangensis Song & Kim, 1991, is described, and its previously unknown male is described for the first time. Furthermore, seven new species of Otacilia are described: O.acutangula Liu, sp. nov. (♂♀), O.bijiashanica Liu, sp. nov. (♂♀), O.longtanica Liu, sp. nov. (♀), O.ovoidea Liu, sp. nov. (♂♀), O.shenshanica Liu, sp. nov. (♂♀), O.subovoidea Liu, sp. nov. (♂♀), and O.xiaoxiica Liu, sp. nov. (♀). All species are illustrated with photographs and their distributions are mapped.

Four new species of the genus Otacilia Thorell, 1897 from Hunan Province, China (Araneae, Phrurolithidae)

Four new species of the genus Otacilia Thorell, 1897 are reported from Hunan Province, China: Otacilia hippocampasp. n., Otacilia yangmingensissp. n., Otacilia curvatasp. n., and Otacilia submicrostomasp. n. All new species are described based on both sexes. In addition, the 55 known Otacilia species are divided into four species groups.
