Calculation of high-order harmonic generation of atoms and molecules by combining time series prediction and neural networks

Minimum structure of high-order harmonic spectrum from molecular multi-orbital effects involving inner-shell orbitals

The spectral features of high-order harmonic spectra can provide rich information for probing the structure and dynamics of molecules in intense laser fields. We theoretically study the high harmonic spectrum with the laser polarization direction perpendicular to the N2O molecule and find a minimum structure in the plateau region of the harmonic spectrum. Through analyzing the time-dependent survival probability of different electronic orbitals and the time-dependent wave packet evolution, it is found that this minimum position is caused by the harmonic interference of HOMO a, HOMO-1, and HOMO-3 a orbitals. Moreover, this interference minimum is discovered over a wide frequency range of 0.087 a.u. to 0.093 a.u., as well as a range of driving laser intensities with peak amplitudes between 0.056 a.u. and 0.059 a.u.. This study sheds light on the multi-electron effects and ultrafast dynamics of inner-shell electrons in intense laser pulses, which are crucial for understanding and controlling chemical reactions in molecules.

Excellent predictive-performances of photonic reservoir computers for chaotic time-series using the fusion-prediction approach

In this work, based on two parallel reservoir computers realized by the two polarization components of the optically pumped spin-VCSEL with double optical feedbacks, we propose the fusion-prediction scheme for the Mackey-Glass (MG) and Lorenz (LZ) chaotic time series. Here, the direct prediction and iterative prediction results are fused in a weighted average way. Compared with the direct-prediction errors, the fusion-prediction errors appear great decrease. Their values are far less than the values of the direct-prediction errors when the iteration step-size are no more than 15. By the optimization of the temporal interval and the sampling period, under the iteration step-size of 3, the fusion-prediction errors for the MG and LZ chaotic time-series can be reduced to 0.00178 and 0.004627, which become 8.1% of the corresponding direct-prediction error and 28.68% of one, respectively. Even though the iteration step-size reaches to 15, the fusion-prediction errors for the MG and LZ chaotic time-series can be reduced to 55.61% of the corresponding direct-prediction error and 77.28% of one, respectively. In addition, the fusion-prediction errors have strong robustness on the perturbations of the system parameters. Our studied results can potentially apply in the improvement of prediction accuracy for some complex nonlinear time series.

Theoretical Simulation of the High–Order Harmonic Generated from Neon Atom Irradiated by the Intense Laser Pulse

Based on the strong field approximation theory and numerical solution of Maxwell’s propagation equations, the high–order harmonic is generated from a neon (Ne) atom irradiated by a high–intensity laser pulse whose central wavelength is 800 nm. In the harmonic spectrum, it is found that in addition to the odd harmonics of the driving laser, a new frequency peak appeared. By examining the time–dependent behavior of the driving laser, it is found that the symmetry of the laser field is broken. We demonstrated that these new spectrum peaks are caused by the intensity reduction and frequency blue shift of the high–intensity laser during propagation. Our results reveal that it is feasible to modulate the harmonics of the specific energy to produce high–intensity harmonic emission by changing the gas density and the position of the gas medium interacting with the laser pulse.

High-Intensity Harmonic Generation with Energy Tunability Produced by Robust Two-Color Linearly Polarized Laser Fields

By using the numerical solution of the time-dependent Schrödinger equation, we theoretically explored the high-order harmonic generation process under the interaction of high-intensity two-color ultrashort driving laser pulses with atoms. The symmetry of the electric field of the laser pulse will be broken. The producing electric field was controlled at the subcycle level by an IR laser and its second harmonic, which has the unique characteristic that two sequential half-cycles become distinct, rather than merely opposite in sign. Compared with the case of the atom in the fundamental laser pulse, the harmonic efficiency showed an increase of 1∼2 orders of magnitude at specific harmonic order with this combined pulse action. Through the theoretical analysis with the “three-step model”, it was demonstrated that the enhancement of the harmonic intensity is due to the fast ionization of electrons at the ionization moment and the short time from ionization to recombination of ionized electrons. In addition, effects of the peak field amplitude ratio, the full width at half maximum, the phase delay of the two-color pulses, the laser intensity and ionization probability on the harmonic efficiency enhancement were also investigated.

Investigation of the Spatio-Temporal Characteristics of High-Order Harmonic Generation Using a Bohmian Trajectory Scheme

High-order harmonic generation of atoms irradiated by an ultrashort laser pulse was calculated by numerically solving the time-dependent Schrödinger equation and the Bohmian trajectory scheme. The harmonic spectra with the two schemes are quantitatively consistent. Using the wavelet behavior of the Bohmian trajectory, the spatio-temporal features of harmonic emission from different energy regions are analyzed. It is found that the spatio-temporal distribution of the harmonic well revealed the physical mechanism of harmonic generation. This method will contribute to the understanding of harmonic emission mechanisms in complex systems, which include many atoms.

Review on the Reconstruction of Transition Dipole Moments by Solid Harmonic Spectrum

In the process of intense laser–matter interactions, the transition dipole moment is a basic physical quantity at the core, which is directly related to the internal structure of the solid and dominates the optical properties of the solid in the intense laser field. Therefore, the reconstruction of the transition dipole moment between solid energy bands is extremely important for clarifying the ultrafast dynamics of carriers in the strong and ultrashort laser pulse. In this review, we introduce recent works of reconstructing transition dipole moment in a solid, and the advantages and drawbacks of different works are discussed.
