Abstract
PURPOSE In the process of clinical diagnosis and treatment of amblyopia, we have found that the treatment time of this disease was significantly different among different patients. The purpose of this study was to compare the efficacy of binocular vision training (BVT) and Fresnel press-on prism (FPP) on children with esotropia combined with amblyopia. METHODS From May 2015 to December 2018, a total of 101 children aged 3-9 years with esotropia and amblyopia who were in our hospital were enrolled in this randomized clinical trial. They were randomly divided into combined group (48 cases) and prism group (53 cases): the children in the prism group received FPP treatment, and those in the combined group received the combined treatment of BVT and FPP. The visual acuity, the binocular function and the strabismic therapeutic effects were compared between two groups. RESULTS After treatment, the visual acuity in both groups was both significantly improved compared with that before treatment (P = 0.0079). The binocular-monocular function, including synoptophore visual function and the Titmus stereopsis, in both groups was significantly improved compared with those before treatment (P < 0.05), and it was more significant in the combined group compared with the prism group (P < 0.05). The cure rate of strabismus was 87.50% (42/48) and 30.19% (16/53) in the combined group and the prism group, respectively, and there was significant difference between groups (P = 0.0036). The cure time was shortened with the lower of the degree of esotropia. CONCLUSION BVT combined with FPP can effectively promote the recovery of binocular vision in children with esotropia combined with amblyopia, and some children can achieve complete cure of strabismus.

Abstract
This pilot study investigated the effects of a visual training program for students with low vision. A pre and post design was used. The Beery-Buktenica Developmental Test of Visual-Motor Integration and the Test of Visual-Perceptual Skills were used to assess the perceptual and visual motor skills of fifteen students with low vision. Their mean age was (8.47 ± 1.12); and the mean of their visual acuity of was (0.12 ± 0.11). The three-part intervention program (physical worksheets, a computer-based intervention program, activities of visual perceptual skills) was implemented over four weeks (three sessions/week). Kruskal Wallis tests were used to examine the effect of visual acuity on the progress achieved, and the Wilcoxon-Signed Ranks test was used to identify differences in the scores pre-post intervention. Results showed statistically significant improvement in the visual perceptual and visual-motor integration skills. There was not any statistically significant effect of visual acuity on the progress achieved.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To systematically review the evidence for effectiveness of rehabilitation interventions in people who are visually impaired, living in low- and middle-income countries. METHODS Fifteen databases and the grey literature were searched up until February 2020; papers were identified according to eligibility criteria, and assessed for risk of bias. Eligible studies were controlled trials (randomised or non-randomised) of rehabilitation interventions for blind or visually impaired adults or children from low- and middle-income countries. Possible outcomes included visual acuity, activities of daily living, safety, quality of life and psychological status. RESULTS Fifteen eligible studies were identified from India, Turkey, Nigeria, Croatia and Iran. Six studies were randomised, seven were non-randomised trials, and in two the method of allocation was not clear. Participants were adults, children and both adults and children. Seven studies were small (n ≤ 65) and examined the effect of training programmes. Remaining studies compared the effect of low vision aids, economic rehabilitation, goalball, rehabilitation compliance and service delivery methods, including one large four-arm randomised trial (n = 436). Studies measured a variety of outcomes, and mostly showed a positive effect of interventions for pre- and post-intervention assessment, although between intervention group comparisons were often inconclusive. Overall, only four studies had a low risk of bias. CONCLUSIONS A lack of high-quality evidence for rehabilitation interventions is a barrier to provision of low vision services in low- and middle-income countries. Future research should focus on establishing effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of devices and models of vision rehabilitation appropriate for low-resource settings.IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATIONThe systematic review found a lack of high-quality evidence for rehabilitation interventions is a barrier to provision of low vision services in low- and middle-income countries.Consider how visual rehabilitation interventions which have been shown to be effective can be delivered by non-specialists.Ensure that service providers for people who are visually impaired are trained in recognising depression and anxiety and have pathways for referral to mental health services, as appropriate.

Abstract
Visual impairment in childhood often has life-long implications. To aim for the highest levels of functioning, participation, and quality of life and to ensure children's well-being, children should be entitled to the most effective rehabilitation programs. We review evidence for the effectiveness of rehabilitation interventions for children with visual impairment to improve skills and behavior, thereby improving participation and quality of life as an ultimate goal. Of the 441 potentially relevant articles identified, 66 studies met our inclusion criteria (i.e., 28 randomized controlled trials, 18 nonrandomized controlled trials, and 20 before-after comparisons). The results suggest that sports camps, prescription and training in the use of low vision devices, and oral hygiene programs might be effective in improving functioning and elements of participation and quality of life in children with visual impairment. Other interventions showed mixed or negative results. The results should be interpreted with caution because of moderate to high risk of bias and suboptimal reporting. Heterogeneity of results and the use of over 50 different outcome measures prevented a meta-analysis. Future studies should focus on promising interventions for which effectiveness is still unclear (e.g., mobility, social skills), with adequately designed methodology.

Abstract
Low-vision rehabilitation (LVR) aims to improve the functioning of patients with chronic uncorrectable visual impairment. LVR is inherently a patient-centered intervention since its approach and goals are dictated by the needs and abilities of each individual patient. Accordingly, it is essential to have patient-centered outcome (PCO) measures to assess and compare the efficacy and effectiveness of low-vision interventions; however, there is a lack of evidence on the effectiveness of LVR interventions. We reviewed the literature in order to identify randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in the field of LVR and the outcome measures used to assess patient functioning in these trials. We identified 15 RCTs of LVR that employed nine unique patient-reported, five unique performance-based, and one hybrid (combined patient-reported and performance) outcome measures. Since these trials used distinct tools to assess patient functioning, it is difficult to compare the effectiveness of competing rehabilitation interventions across studies. Selecting valid outcome measures that are both relevant to LVR goals of specific patient populations and that measure functioning across a range of visually demanding tasks could improve the ability to detect the effect of LVR and to compare rehabilitation strategies. There are advantages and limitations to the use of both patient-reported and performance-based outcome measures, and additional work should be undertaken to explore the relationship between these modes of assessment, as well as strategies for optimally integrating these approaches. Careful selection of outcome measures in the design of future RCTs in LVR may lead to improved understanding of the effectiveness of LVR and, ultimately, to improved functioning of patients with low vision.

Abstract
This study developed an interactive computer game-based visual perception learning system for special education children with developmental delay. To investigate whether perceived interactivity affects continued use of the system, this study developed a theoretical model of the process in which learners decide whether to continue using an interactive computer game-based visual perception learning system. The technology acceptance model, which considers perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and perceived playfulness, was extended by integrating perceived interaction (i.e., learner-instructor interaction and learner-system interaction) and then analyzing the effects of these perceptions on satisfaction and continued use. Data were collected from 150 participants (rehabilitation therapists, medical paraprofessionals, and parents of children with developmental delay) recruited from a single medical center in Taiwan. Structural equation modeling and partial-least-squares techniques were used to evaluate relationships within the model. The modeling results indicated that both perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness were positively associated with both learner-instructor interaction and learner-system interaction. However, perceived playfulness only had a positive association with learner-system interaction and not with learner-instructor interaction. Moreover, satisfaction was positively affected by perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and perceived playfulness. Thus, satisfaction positively affects continued use of the system. The data obtained by this study can be applied by researchers, designers of computer game-based learning systems, special education workers, and medical professionals.

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between handwriting skills and visual motor control among students with low vision and to compare this with the performance of their normal sighted peers. 42 students with low vision and 26 normal sighted peers participated. The Bruininks-Oseretsky Motor Proficiency Test-Short Form (BOTMP-SF), Jebsen Taylor Hand Function Test's writing subtest, and a legibility assessment were administered. Significant differences were found between groups for students' writing speed, legibility, and visual motor control. Visual motor control was correlated both writing speed and legibility. Students with low vision had poorer handwriting performance, with lower legibility and slower writing speed. Writing performance time was related to visual motor control in students with low vision.
