Abstract
Gossypol (Gsp) and antibiotics present in water bodies become organic pollutants that are harmful to human health and the ecological environment. Accurate and effective detection of these pollutants has far-reaching significance in many fields. A new three-dimensional metal-organic framework (MOF), {[Eu3(L)2(HCOO-)(H2O)3]·2H2O·2DMF}n (Eu-MOF), was synthesized from 3,5-bis(2,4-dicarboxylphenyl)nitrobenzene (H4L) ligand and Eu3+ via the solvothermal method in this paper. The Eu-MOF demonstrates strong red fluorescence and can remain stable in different pH solutions. The MOF fluorescence probe could detect organic pollutants through the "shut-off" effect, with a fast response speed and a low detection limit [Gsp, nitrofurantoin (NFT), and nitrofurazone (NFZ) for 0.43, 0.38, and 0.41 μM, respectively]. During the testing process, Eu-MOF exhibited good selectivity and recoverability. Furthermore, the mechanism of fluorescence quenching was investigated, and the recoveries were also good in real samples. This paper introduced a deep learning model to recognize the fluorescence images, a portable intelligent logic detector designed for real-time detection of Gsp by logic gate strategy, and an anticounterfeiting mark prepared based on inkjet printing. Importantly, this work provides a new way of thinking for the detection of organic pollutants in water with high sensitivity and practicality by combining the fluorescence probe with machine learning and logical judgment.

Abstract
Myelocytomatosis (MYC) transcription factors (TFs) in plants are well-known regulators of plant defense against herbivores. However, the role and mechanism of MYC TFs in cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) defense against cotton aphids (Aphis gossypii Glover) remain still elusive. Herein, on the basis of aphid-induced cotton transcriptome analysis, GhMYC1374, a cotton MYC2-like TF that was highly induced by cotton aphid attack, has been identified that confers cotton aphid resistance in cotton. GhMYC1374 was an intranuclear transcription factor with three domains: bHLH-MYC_N, RBR and bHLH_AtAIB_like. GhMYC1374 was induced under cotton aphid feeding, exogenous methyl jasmonate (MeJA) and salicylic acid (SA) treatments. GhMYC1374 transient overexpression in cotton plants enhanced cotton aphid-resistance, while GhMYC1374 silence through VIGS (virus induced gene silencing) decreased cotton aphid-resistance. GhMYC1374 transient overexpression of in cotton plants activated the phenylpropane pathway and promoted the synthesis of flavonoids, and resistance to thus enhanced the cotton resistance against aphids. In contrast, GhMYC1374 silence inhibited the biosynthesis of flavonoids. In addition, GhMYC1374 also positively activated the expression of the biosynthetic genes of free gossypol, leading to the high content of free gossypol. Taken together, our results suggest that GhMYC1374 is involved in the cotton defense response against cotton aphids by regulating the biosynthesis of flavonoids and free gossypol.

Abstract
Plant-based food produces significantly less greenhouse gases, and due to its wealth of bioactive components and/or plant-based protein, it becomes an alternative in a sustainable food system. However, the processing and production of products from plant sources creates byproducts, which can be waste or a source of useful substances that can be reused. The waste produced during the production and processing of food is essentially nutrient- and energy-rich, and it is recognized as an excellent source of secondary raw materials that could be repurposed in the process of manufacturing and preparing food, or as feed for livestock. This review offers an overview of the sources and techniques of the sustainable isolation of bioactive substances and proteins from various sources that might represent waste in the preparation or production of food of plant origin. The aim is to uncover novel approaches to use waste and byproducts from the process of making food to provide this waste food an additional benefit, not forgetting the expectations of the end user, the consumer. For the successful isolation of bioactive ingredients and proteins from food of plant origin, it is crucial to develop more eco-friendly and efficient extraction techniques with a low CO2 footprint while considering the economic aspects.

Abstract
This study set out to determine the apparent total tract digestibility (ATTD) of the nutrients and energy in six cottonseed meal (CSM) feedstuffs fed to pregnant and non-pregnant sows. The six types of CSM were: two expelled CSMs with crude protein (CP) levels of 40.67% and 44.64%, and four solvent-extracted CSMs with CP levels of 45.18%, 51.16%, 56.44%, and 59.63%. Fourteen gestating sows (at the fourth parity with body weights of 220.6 ± 18.4 kg at days 30 of gestation) and 14 non-pregnant sows (after the third parity with body weights of 219 ± 14.6 kg) were assigned to a replicated 7 × 3 Youden square design with seven diets and three periods. The seven diets included an entirely corn-based diet and six diets each containing 20.0% of the six CSMs tested. Each period included a 5-d acclimation to the experimental diets, followed by a 5-d period during which urine and feces were collected. Significant differences were found among the six CSM diets, regardless of reproductive stage, regarding 1) the ATTD of neutral detergent fiber (NDF) (P < 0.05) and 2) the ATTD of dry matter (DM), organic matter (OM), and CP and the gross energy (GE) (P < 0.01). Non-pregnant sows had a greater ATTD of OM and CP (P < 0.01) compared with gestating sows. The digestible energy (DE) and metabolizable energy (ME) of the six CSM samples ranged from 12.48 to 17.15 MJ/kg and 11.35 to 15.88 MJ/kg, respectively, for non-pregnant sows, and from 12.86 to 16.41 MJ/kg and 12.43 to 14.72 MJ/kg, respectively, for gestating sows. However, the DE, ME, and ME:DE ratios of each CSM were similar between gestating and non-pregnant sows. DE and ME were negatively correlated with NDF and ADF, respectively, but were positively corrected with CP level (P < 0.01). Collectively, the DE, ME, and nutrient digestibility of CSM varied greatly according to the chemical compositions, and CSMs with higher protein and lower fiber levels had greater DE and ME levels.

Abstract
Plants represent a significant part of the human diet. Humans have utilized every part of plants for survival, and seeds are no exception. Seeds offer high protein, unsaturated fats, fibre, essential vitamins, and minerals for various food applications. They are also a promising reservoir of bioactive compounds, where various phytochemicals, such as polyphenolic compounds, capable of maintaining and improving well-being, are present in abundant quantities. Plants from Malvaceae and Cannabaceae families are known for their fibre-rich stems that benefit humankind by serving numerous purposes. For many centuries they have been exploited extensively for various commercial and industrial uses. Their seeds, which are often regarded as a by-product of fibre processing, have been scientifically discovered to have an essential role in combating hypercholesterolemia, diabetes, cancer, and oxidative stress. Maximizing the use of these agricultural wastes can be a promising approach to creating a more sustainable world, in accordance with the concept of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
