Fabrication of C/Co-FeS2/CoS2 with Highly Efficient Hydrogen Evolution Reaction

Durable Pulse-Electrodeposited Ni-Fe-S Nanosheets Supported on a Ni-S Three Dimensional Pattern as Robust Bifunctional Electrocatalysts for Hydrogen Evolution and Urea Oxidation Reactions

This study aims to establish easy-to-fabricate and novel structures for the synthesis of highly active and enduring electrocatalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and urea oxidation reaction (UOR). Gradient electrodeposition and four different time regimes were utilized to synthesize Ni-S 3D patterns with the optimization of electrodeposition time. Pulse electrodeposition was employed for the synthesis of Ni-Fe-S nanosheets at three different frequencies and duty cycles to optimize the pulse electrodeposition parameters. The sample synthesized at 13 min of gradient electrodeposition with a 1 Hz frequency and 0.7 duty cycle for pulse electrodeposition demonstrated the best electrocatalytic performance. The optimized electrode further showed remarkable performance for HER and UOR reactions, requiring only 54 mV and 1.25 V to deliver 10 mA cm-2 for HER and UOR, respectively. Moreover, the overall cell voltage of the two-electrode system in 1 M KOH and 0.5 M urea was measured at 1.313 V, delivering 10 mA cm-2. Constructing Ni-Fe-S nanosheets on 3D Ni-S significantly increased the electrochemical surface area from 51 to 278 for the Ni-S and Ni-Fe-S layers. Tafel slopes were measured as 138 and 182 mV dec-1 for the HER and UOR for the Ni-S coating layer and 97 mV dec-1 for the HER and 131 mV dec-1 for the UOR for the optimal Ni-Fe-S nanosheets on Ni-S. Minimal changes in the potential were observed at 100 mA cm-2 in 50 h regarding the HER and UOR, signifying exceptional electrocatalytic stability. This study provides economically viable, highly active, and long-lasting electrocatalysts suitable for HER and UOR applications.

One-pot self-assembled bimetallic sulfide particle cluster-supported three-dimensional graphene aerogel as an efficient electrocatalyst for the oxygen evolution reaction

The preparation of an electrocatalyst for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) with high catalytic activity, good long-term durability and rapid reaction kinetics through interface engineering is of great significance. Herein, we have developed a bimetallic sulfide particle cluster-supported three-dimensional graphene aerogel (FeNiS@GA), which serves as an efficient electrocatalyst for OER, by a one-step hydrothermal method. Profiting from the synergy of the FeNiS particle cluster with high capacitance and GA with its three-dimensional porous nanostructure, FeNiS@GA shows a high specific surface area, large pore volume, low contact resistance, and decreases the electron and ion transport routes. FeNiS@GA exhibits outstanding OER activity (when the current density is 50 mA cm-2, the overpotential is 341 mV), low Tafel slope (63.87 mV dec-1) and remarkable stability in alkaline solutions, outperforming FeNiS, NiS@GA, FeS@GA and RuO2. Due to its simple synthesis process and excellent electrocatalytic performance, FeNiS@GA shows great potential to replace noble metal-based catalysts in practical applications.

Designing the heterostructured FeWO4/FeS2 nanocomposites for an enhanced photocatalytic organic dye degradation

The present study, reports a facile approach for the synthesis of FeWO₄/FeS₂ nanocomposites were demonstrated through hydrothermal method. The surface morphology, crystalline structure, chemical composition, optical properties of the prepared samples was analysed by different various technique. The result observed analysis indicates that, the formation of heterojunction by 2:1 wt.% of FeWO₄/FeS₂ nanohybrid has the lowest recombination rate of electron-hole pairs and the least electron transfer resistance. Due to its the broad absorption spectral range and preferable energy band gap, the (2:1) FeWO₄/FeS₂ nanohybrid photocatalyst exhibits an excellent ability to remove MB dye when exposed to UV-Vis. Light irradiation. Its photocatalytic activity of (2:1) FeWO₄/FeS₂ nanohybrid is higher than other as prepared samples due to its synergistic effects, enhanced light absorption and high charge carrier separation. Radical trapping experimental result implies that the photo-generated free electrons and hydroxyl radials are essential to degrade the MB dye. Furthermore, a possible future mechanism for FeWO₄/FeS₂ nanocomposites photocatalytic activity was discussed. Moreover, the recyclability analysis demonstrated that the FeWO₄/FeS₂ nanocomposites can be recycled multiple times. The enhanced photocatalytic activity of 2:1 FeWO₄/FeS₂ nanocomposites is promising for the further application of visible light driven photocatalyst in wastewater treatment.

In Situ Wet Etching of MoS2@dWO3 Heterostructure as Ultra-Stable Highly Active Electrocatalyst for Hydrogen Evolution Reaction

Electrocatalysts featuring robust structure, excellent catalytic activity and strong stability are highly desirable, but challenging. The rapid development of two-dimensional transition metal chalcogenide (such as WO3, MoS2 and WS2) nanostructures offers a hopeful strategy to increase the active edge sites and expedite the efficiency of electronic transport for hydrogen evolution reaction. Herein, we report a distinctive strategy to construct two-dimensional MoS2@dWO3 heterostructure nanosheets by in situ wet etching. Synthesized oxygen-incorporated MoS2-was loaded on the surface of defective WO3 square nanoframes with abundant oxygen vacancies. The resulting nanocomposite exhibits a low overpotential of 191 mV at 10 mA cm−2 and a very low Tafel slope of 42 mV dec−1 toward hydrogen evolution reaction. The long-term cyclic voltammetry cycling of 5000 cycles and more than 80,000 s chronoamperometry tests promises its outstanding stability. The intimate and large interfacial contact between MoS2 and WO3, favoring the charge transfer and electron–hole separation by the synergy of defective WO3 and oxygen-incorporated MoS2, is believed the decisive factor for improving the electrocatalytic efficiency of the nanocomposite. Moreover, the defective WO3 nanoframes with plentiful oxygen vacancies could serve as an anisotropic substrate to promote charge transport and oxygen incorporation into the interface of MoS2. This work provides a unique methodology for designing and constructing excellently heterostructure electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction.
