Abstract
Dichloromeldrum's acid is introduced as a bench-stable, nonvolatile reagent for the dichloroacetylation of anilines and alkyl amines to produce α,α-dichloroacetamides, which are important motifs for medicinal chemistry. Products are formed in good to excellent yields with reagent grade solvents, and, as the only byproducts are acetone and CO2, no column chromatography is required. Thus, this reagent is practical, efficient, and green for the dichloroacetylation of primary amines.

Abstract
The addition of carbon (Grignard and organolithium reagents) and hydride nucleophiles (Schwartz reagent) to isocyanates and isothiocyanates constitutes a versatile, direct and high yielding approach to the synthesis of functionalized (thio)amide derivatives including haloamides and formamides. The chemoselective delivery of a nucleophilic (eventually configurationally stable) organometallic species to a given iso(thio)cyanate is the crucial parameter for the success of the strategy. Thus, the influence of the factors governing classical methodologies (e.g. dehydrative condensation) such as steric hindrance and electronic properties of the reactants become practically negligible.

Abstract
A mild and rapid (diacetoxyiodo)benzene-mediated formal electrophilic α-azidation of 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds using commercially available Bu4NN3 as the azide source is reported. The reaction conditions employed are based on optimization studies conducted on the analogous halogenations with Et4NX (X = Cl, Br, I).

Abstract
A self-condensation cyclization reaction mediated by phosphorus pentoxide (P2O5) and catalyzed by zinc bromide (ZnBr2) is presented for the synthesis of polysubstituted 4-pyridones and 2-pyridones from β-keto amides. A variety of β-keto amides are used in this approach, and a wide range of functionalized 4-pyridones and 2-pyridones were obtained in good to excellent yields. When employing the N-aryl β-keto amides as the substrates in this protocol, 4-pyridones are resulted, however, when using N-aliphatic-substituted β-keto amides as the partners of N-aryl β-keto amides under the same conditions, 2-pyridones are afforded.

Abstract
Various substituted N-aryl carbamoyl methyl diacetates have been synthesized from N-aryl-3-oxobutanamides via a diacetoxylation mediated by the combination of iodobenzene diacetate (PIDA)/Zn(OAc)2. This provides a new convenient method to form C–O bonds and cleave C–C bonds. Ten examples were obtained from easily available materials in good to excellent yields.
