Abstract
OBJECTIVES Cystic Echinococcosis (CE) is one of the important problems of the Eurasian region. We aimed to prepare a consensus report in order to update the treatment approaches of this disease. This study was conducted by Turkish HPB Surgery Association. MATERIAL AND METHODS This study was conducted with the modified Delphi model. For this purpose, we conducted a three-stage consensus-building approach. RESULTS Six topics, including diagnosis, medical treatment, percutaneous treatment, surgical treatment, management of complications and posttreatment follow-up and recurrences in HCE were discussed. CONCLUSION The expert panel made recommendations for every topic.

Abstract
Human cystic echinococcosis (CE) is a zoonotic disease caused by the larval stage of Echinococcus granulosus sensu lato that causes economic losses by affecting livestock and also poses a public health threat worldwide. The present study is the first retrospective report on the seroprevalence of anti-E. granulosus antibodies in humans in Pakistan. The study used data from 93 blood analysis reports of patients suspected of having CE from different medical centers in Lahore, Pakistan. Out of 93 sera samples, 20 (21.5%) were seropositive, and higher seropositivity (17.2%) was recorded with the indirect hemagglutination test (IHA) than with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The findings indicated that age, gender, and year had no significant relationship with the seropositivity of CE. The current study provides directions towards the management of the disease in the near future in Pakistan.

Abstract
Cancer vaccines have gained lots of attention as the future of cancer treatment. However, poor immunogenicity of tumor-associated antigens often fails to induce an efficient immune response against the tumor. Strange anti-tumor immune responses at the parasite-infected patients due to cross-reactivity have been reported in various studies. Therefore, parasite antigens with significant immunogenicity and high epitope homology with cancer antigens may activate a strong immune response against cancer cells. Herein, the sera of immunized rabbits with the hydatid cyst wall (HCW) antigens were incubated with 4 T1 mammary carcinoma cells to investigate cross-reactivity between the HCW antigens antisera and surface antigens of the breast cancer cells. Also, the SDS-PAGE profile of HCW antigens was prepared and incubated with the breast cancer patients' sera and considerable reactivity was observed between their sera and a specific band (~27/28 kDa) according to Western blotting analyzes. Then, the protein bands with cross-reactivity with breast cancer patients' sera were utilized for prophylactic immunizations of Balb/c mice. The immunoprotective effect of immunization with the HCW antigens caused significant inhibition of 4 T1 breast tumor growth, decrease of metastasis, and enlargement of the tumor-bearing mice survival time in comparison with PBS and pure immune adjuvant injected groups. Mass spectrometry analysis showed that the ~ 27/28 kDa band has numbers of proteins/polypeptides with a high degree of homology with cancer cells antigens which can be the reason for this cross-reactivity and anti-tumor immune response. Taking together, immunization with HCW antigens would be a promising approach in cancer immunotherapy after further investigations.

Abstract
Cystic echinococcosis (CE), as a zoonotic helminthic infection, imposes a large socioeconomic burden to societies throughout the world. This study aimed to analyze the demographic, clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic data of CE patients across all provinces in Iran. In this cross-sectional study, the mentioned data were routinely collected by provincial medical universities during the time from March 2016 to March 2017. The provincial population census was used to calculate the prevalence of CE per 1,000,000 populations for all provinces. T test and Chi squared test were used to compare variables between genders. Statistical analysis was done at 95% significant level using STATA 14 software. The overall prevalence of CE was 6.8 cases per 1,000,000 populations in Iran. The highest and lowest prevalence was reported for Northeast (15.2) and southeast (0.7) of Iran, respectively. There was a significant difference in the prevalence between male and female (5.8 vs. 7.9, p < 0.001). An increasing trend of the prevalence was found by age in both males and females. Abdominal pain was reported as the highest proportion of symptom (39.0%) and the liver was a commonly infected organ (62.7%). CT scan (39.0%) and MRI (1.9%) had the highest and lowest proportion among types of CE diagnosis, respectively. About 67% of the patients washed the vegetable by water without any disinfectant. Due to global efforts on the control and prevention of CE, it still remains endemic in many countries throughout the world. Incidence trend of CE in Iran showed being endemic for CE and more investigations are needed on all aspects of the disease.

Abstract
Background: Recent studies have shown that similar host glycan antigens are expressed by helminths such as Echinococcus granulosus hydatid cysts to evade from host immune system. In this work to investigate these antigens further, immunological cross-reactivity between human sera and hydatid cyst wall antigens has been investigated. Materials and Methods: Hydatid cyst wall antigens were used in enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and Western immunoblotting and probed with pooled sera of hydatidosis patients and healthy controls. Sodium metaperiodate treatment was used to investigate glycan antigens. Results: A band with molecular weight about 53 KDa reacted with both hydatid patients' sera and also normal human sera. It has been shown that this band was a glycan antigen. Conclusions: A 53 KDa glycan antigen of hydatid cyst wall that reacted with all human sera may have an important role for evasion from host immune system.

Abstract
Hydatid cyst is the larval stage of dog tape worm Echinococcus granulosus. Protoscolices are parasite larvae that develop into adult worms in the final host intestine. During surgical treatment of human hydatidsosis spillage of live protoscolices is the major cause of hydatidosis recurrence. To prevent this problem scolicidal agent such as hypertonic salt are used to kill the protoscolices that may disseminate into the patient's tissues during surgery. However, they may have some unacceptable side effects. To find scolicidal agents with high efficacy, the effect of different compounds on protoscolices of hydatid cyst in vitro has been reviewed. Using PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, and SID databases articles about scolicidal effects of different agents on protoscolices of hydatid cyst in vitro were collected. Foeniculum vulgare after 5 min, metalonic extracts of Allium sativum and hypertonic saline after 10 min, and warm water after 2 min kill all alive protoscolices. The above agents that in minimum time and minimum concentration have 100% scolicidal activity, could be good candidates for further investigations.
