Abstract
OBJECTIVES Previous studies suggested protective associations of vegetables and fruits (VF) intake with cognitive function, but evidence on specific types of VF was insufficient. METHODS The current study included 4066 participants from 1997 to 2006 in the China Health and Nutrition Survey (CHNS) and 6170 participants from 2013 to 2020 in the Health and Retirement Study (HRS). Dietary intake (using 3-day 24-h dietary recalls in CHNS and food frequency questionnaire in HRS) and cognitive function (using the Telephone Interview for Cognitive Status-Modified, TICS-m) were measured. Linear mixed-effects models were used to estimate the beta coefficients (β) and the 95% confidence intervals (CI) to evaluate the association of VF with cognitive function (z-score) and its decline. RESULTS Highest intake of total VF was associated with better cognitive function and slower cognitive decline. Differences in cognitive function z-score between the highest and lowest tertiles of VF consumption were 0.039 (95% CI: 0.002, 0.076) for CHNS and 0.063 (95% CI: 0.026, 0.100) for HRS. The corresponding differences in annual cognitive decline were 0.011 (95% CI: 0.002, 0.021) and 0.012 (95% CI: 0.003, 0.020) units respectively. Vegetables and fruits showed independent associations with cognitive function and its decline. In specific VF subgroups, when comparing the highest to the lowest tertile intake, cruciferous vegetables (β = 0.058, 95% CI: 0.017, 0.100 in CHNS and β = 0.067, 95% CI: 0.032, 0.101 in HRS) and green leafy vegetables (β = 0.036, 95% CI: -0.001, 0.073 in CHNS and β = 0.082, 95% CI: 0.046, 0.117 in HRS) was associated with better cognitive function in both cohorts. Similarly, higher intake of dark-colored vegetables (β = 0.019, 95% CI: 0.008, 0.030 for red/yellow vegetables in CHNS and β = 0.004, 95% CI: 0.001, 0.007 for green leafy vegetables in HRS) were associated with slower cognitive decline in subsequent years. Moreover, rigorous sensitivity analyses confirmed the stability of the results. CONCLUSIONS Our findings support the potential beneficial roles of VF, especially cruciferous vegetables, green leafy vegetables, and red/yellow vegetables, in maintaining cognitive function and slowing cognitive decline in middle-aged and older adults.

Abstract
This study investigated the characteristics and frequency of perioperative anaphylactic shock induced by cefuroxime, so as to provide a reference for the safe and rational use of cefuroxime in the perioperative period. Cases of perioperative anaphylactic shock caused by cefuroxime in our hospital from 2011 to 2021 were extracted from the Adverse Drug Reaction Monitoring System. Literature reporting adverse drug reactions (ADR) including cefuroxime-induced anaphylactic shock in perioperative settings was collected from the CNKI, VIP, Wanfang, PubMed, and Web of Science databases from their respective inception to May 2022. Statistical analysis was performed for all cases of cefuroxime-induced perioperative anaphylactic shock. A total of 31 patients were included [13 men (48.1%) and 14 women (51.9%)], most of whom were over 60 years old (n=16, 59.3%); 9 (29.0%) patients had a history of drug allergy; 5 (16.1%) patients had received skin tests, but with negative results; 28 (90.3%) patients received treatment intravenously; 22 (71.0%) patients were treated after anesthesia. For 20 (64.5%) patients the ADR occurred within 10 minutes after anesthesia. The main manifestations were hypotension, dyspnea, rash, and tachycardia. For all patients, symptoms resolved after withdrawal of the drug and active rescue, and there were no deaths. A history of allergy and skin test findings may have limitations in predicting perioperative anaphylactic shock caused by cefuroxime; greater vigilance should be exercised when using cefuroxime in the perioperative period. Close monitoring is recommended for patients undergoing treatment with cefuroxime. Rescue therapy should be administered for allergic shock, and suitable response measures must be taken in a timely manner to ensure the safety of patients.

Abstract
Lateral growth of thin films is crucial for organic electronic devices, such as field-effect transistors. Here, we report a strategy to improve the lateral growth of pentacene films using rubrene as a surfactant-like additive. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) images confirm the enhanced lateral growth with the presence of rubrene, resulting in smooth and enlarged molecule domains in the films in comparison to those without rubrene. Molecular dynamics simulations are conducted to explore the interlayer diffusion of pentacene molecules during the growth. With the rubrene molecules as surfactant-like additives, mean square displacement (MSD) analysis shows that the pentacene molecules have a descending diffusion coefficient of 2.0 × 10-5 cm2 s-1, which is greater than the ascending diffusion coefficient of 1.6 × 10-5 cm2 s-1. The more descending molecules lead to an enhanced lateral growth of pentacene films, which is in good agreement with the experiments. As a result, the pentacene films grown with rubrene exhibit a rapid increase in carrier mobility over thickness due to the well-connected domains resulting from enhanced lateral growth. This finding will provide a new strategy to modulate the morphology of organic films for high-performance devices.

Abstract
Objective Acinetobacter baumannii (A. baumannii, AB) represents a major species of Gram-negative bacteria involved in bloodstream infections (BSIs) and shows a high capability of developing antibiotic resistance. Especially, carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (CRAB) becomes more and more prevalent in BSIs. Hence, a rapid and sensitive CRAB detection method is of urgent need to reduce the morbidity and mortality due to CRAB-associated BSIs. Methods A dual droplet digital PCR (ddPCR) reaction system was designed for detecting the antibiotic resistance gene OXA-23 and AB-specific gene gltA. Then, the specificity of the primers and probes, limit of detection (LOD), linear range, and accuracy of the assay were evaluated. Furthermore, the established assay approach was validated on 37 clinical isolates and compared with blood culture and drug sensitivity tests. Results The dual ddPCR method established in this study demonstrated strong primer and probe specificity, distinguishing CRAB among 21 common clinical pathogens. The method showed excellent precision (3 × 10-4 ng/μL, CV < 25%) and linearity (OXA-23: y = 1.4558x + 4.0981, R2 = 0.9976; gltA: y = 1.2716x + 3.6092, R2 = 0.9949). While the dual qPCR LOD is 3 × 10-3 ng/μL, the dual ddPCR's LOD stands at 3 × 10-4 ng/μL, indicating a higher sensitivity in the latter. When applied to detect 35 patients with BSIs of AB, the results were consistent with clinical blood culture identification and drug sensitivity tests. Conclusion The dual ddPCR detection method for OXA-23 and gltA developed in this study exhibits good specificity, excellent linearity, and a higher LOD than qPCR. It demonstrates reproducibility even for minute samples, making it suitable for rapid diagnosis and precision treatment of CRAB in BSIs.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS The novel sex-specific anthropometric equation relative fat mass (RFM) is a new estimator of whole-body fat %. The study aimed to investigate the predictive role of RFM in cardiometabolic abnormalities, cardiovascular disease (CVD), all-cause and cardiovascular mortality, and explored potential sex differences. METHODS AND RESULTS The study analyzed data from 26,754 adults in NHANES 1999-2010, with a median follow-up of 13.8 years. The correlation between RFM and body composition as well as fat distribution assessed by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry was investigated. Weighted multivariable generalized linear models, Cox proportional hazards models and restricted cubic spline were applied to investigate the predictive role of RFM in metabolic markers, cardiovascular risk factors, CVD, all-cause and cardiovascular mortality. RFM exhibited a robust correlation with both whole-body fat % and trunk fat %. Higher RFM exhibited a stronger association with impaired glucose homeostasis, serum lipids, the incidence of hypertension, and coronary heart disease in males, while a stronger association with C-reactive protein in females. A U-shaped association between RFM and all-cause mortality was observed only in males. The hazard ratio (HR) of all-cause and cardiovascular mortality in males increased rapidly when RFM exceeded 30. However, in females, the HR of all-cause and cardiovascular mortality fluctuated until RFM exceeded 45, after which it increased rapidly. CONCLUSION RFM was a sex-specific estimator for both general and central obesity, sex-specific differences in predicting cardiometabolic abnormalities and adverse events using RFM might be partially attributed to differences in body composition and fat distribution between sexes.

Abstract
Evidence-based management of decongestion is lacking in hospitalized heart failure (HHF) patients, especially in patients with impaired renal function. Hemoconcentration is an objective measure of decongestion that portends a favorable prognosis and guides management in HHF patients with preserved renal function. We aim to investigate whether it remains a prognosticator in patients with renal impairment, and to refine the identification of subpopulations who will benefit from hemoconcentration-guided therapy. HHF patients admitted to Heart Failure Center of Fuwai Hospital were consecutively included from December 2006 to June 2018. Patient characteristics were depicted. Relationships between in-hospital hemoconcentration, worsening renal function (WRF), and one-year all-cause mortality were investigated in the total population and compared between renal function groups using survival analysis and cubic splines, with a special focus on renal function-based interactions. The association was further validated in sensitivity analyses. Clinically relevant cut-offs and subpopulations were identified by subpopulation treatment effect pattern plots (STEPP) and subgroup analysis. 3661 participants (30.4% with impaired renal function) were included. Hemoconcentration, reflected by an in-hospital increase in hemoglobin, hematocrit, or a relative reduction in estimated plasma volume from baseline to discharge, was predictive of decreased one-year mortality in the total cohort despite its correlation with higher WRF incidence. The prognostic value of hemoconcentration differed in patients with impaired and preserved renal function. Hemoconcentration was related to a favorable prognosis in patients with preserved renal function (HR, 0.69; 95% CI, 0.53-0.90; P = 0.007), especially in young male patients with New York Heart Association functional class III-IV, reduced ejection fraction, and baseline eGFR > 75 mL/min/1.73m2. Contrarily, impaired renal function patients experienced a higher incidence of WRF, and hemoconcentration was no longer related to outcome (HR, 0.90; 95% CI, 0.64-1.26; P = 0.545), with findings consistent in all clinically relevant subgroups. In HHF patients, the prognostic value of hemoconcentration differs by renal function, and the clinical utility of hemoconcentration is contingent on preserved renal function.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Studies regarding the validity of the food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) and the food composition table (FCT) are limited in Asian countries. We aimed to evaluate the validity of a 64-item FFQ and different methods of constructing the FFQ FCTs for assessing dietary intakes of foods and nutrients among adults in eastern China. METHODS A total of 2325 participants (aged 56.2 ± 14.9 years, 51.6% female) from nine cities in Zhejiang province who completed a 64-item FFQ and 3-day 24-hour dietary recalls (24HRs) in 2015 were included. Eight FFQ FCTs were generated covering food items and specific weights estimated using professional knowledge, representative 24HRs data, or the Chinese FCT (CFCT). Energy-adjusted intakes of foods and nutrients were estimated by residual and energy density methods. Spearman correlation coefficients (SCCs) of intakes of 14 food groups and 17 nutrients between FFQ and 24HRs were calculated to evaluate the overall validity of FFQ. RESULTS The average intakes of most food groups and nutrients assessed with FFQ were higher than those assessed using the 24HRs. For the food groups, the averaged energy-adjusted (residual method) SCC between FFQ and 24HRs was 0.27, ranging from 0.14 (starch-rich beans) to 0.49 (aquatic products). For nutrient assessment, the weighted FCT (WFCT) performs the best, and the averaged energy-adjusted (residual method) SCC was 0.26, ranging from 0.16 (iron) to 0.37 (potassium). Similar correlations with 24HRs were observed when using other FFQ FCT in the calculation of nutrient intakes. CONCLUSION The 64-item Chinese FFQ and the WFCT were reasonably valid to assess the dietary intakes of certain foods and nutrients among adults in eastern China.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Evidence on the association of Olfactory Impairment (OI) with age-related cognitive decline is inconclusive, and the potential influence of allergy remains unclear. OBJECTIVE We aimed to evaluate the cross-sectional associations of allergy-related and non-allergy- related OI to cognitive function. METHODS We included 2,499 participants from the Health and Retirement Study (HRS)-Harmonized Cognitive Assessment Protocol (HCAP) sub-study and 1,086 participants from the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing (ELSA)-HCAP. The Olfactory Function Field Exam (OFFE) using Sniffin' Stick odor pens was used to objectively assess olfactory function and an olfactory score <6/11 indicated OI. Mini-Mental Status Examination (MMSE) was used to assess global cognitive function and define cognitive impairment (<24/30). A neuropsychologic battery was used to assess five cognitive domains. RESULTS Compared to non-OI participants, individuals with OI had lower MMSE z-score [βHRS = -0.33, 95% Confidence Interval (CI): -0.41 to -0.24; βELSA = -0.31, -0.43 to -0.18] and higher prevalence of cognitive impairment [Prevalence Ratio (PR)HRS = 1.46, 1.06 to 2.01; PRELSA = 1.63, 1.26 to 2.11]. The associations were stronger for non-allergy-related OI (βHRS = -0.36; βELSA = -0.34) than for allergy-related OI (βHRS = -0.26; βELSA = 0.13). Similar associations were observed with domain- specific cognitive function measures. CONCLUSION OI, particularly non-allergy-related OI, was related to poorer cognitive function in older adults. Although the current cross-sectional study is subject to several limitations, such as reverse causality and residual confounding, the findings will provide insights into the OI-cognition association and enlighten future attention to non-allergy-related OI for the prevention of potential cognitive impairment.

Abstract
Covalent probes coupled with chemical proteomics represent a powerful method for investigating small molecule and protein interactions. However, the creation of a reactive warhead within various ligands to form covalent probes has been a major obstacle. Herein, we report a convenient and robust process to assemble a unique electrophile, an α-acyloxyenamide, through a one-step late-stage coupling reaction. This procedure demonstrates remarkable tolerance towards other functional groups and facilitates ligand-directed labeling in proteins of interest. The reactive group has been successfully incorporated into a clinical drug targeting the EGFR L858R mutant, erlotinib, and a pan-kinase inhibitor. The resulting probes have been shown to be able to covalently engage a lysine residue proximal to the ATP-binding pocket of the EGFR L858R mutant. A series of active sites, and Mg2+, ATP-binding sites of kinases, such as K33 of CDK1, CDK2, CDK5 were detected. This is the first report of engaging these conserved catalytic lysine residues in kinases with covalent inhibition. Further application of this methodology to natural products has demonstrated its success in profiling ligandable conserved lysine residues in whole proteome. These findings offer insights for the development of new targeted covalent inhibitors (TCIs).

Abstract
Long-term peritoneal dialysis (PD) causes structural and functional alterations of the peritoneal membrane. Peritoneal deterioration and fibrosis are multicellular and multimolecular processes. Under stimulation by deleterious factors such as non-biocompatibility of PD solution, various cells in the abdominal cavity show differing characteristics, such as the secretion of different cytokines, varying protein expression levels, and transdifferentiation into other cells. In this review, we discuss the role of various cells in the abdominal cavity and their interactions in the pathogenesis of PD. An in-depth understanding of intercellular communication and inter-organ communication in PD will lead to a better understanding of the pathogenesis of this disease, enabling the development of novel therapeutic targets.

Abstract
Introduction Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a chronic autoimmune neuromuscular disorder. Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has a significant impact on the health and quality of life of MG patients and may even trigger the onset of MG in some cases. With the worldwide development of the COVID-19 vaccination, several new-onset MG cases and exacerbations following the COVID-19 vaccines have been acknowledged. The potential link between myasthenia gravis (MG) and COVID-19 has prompted the need for further investigation into the underlying molecular mechanism. Methods and results The differential expression analysis identified six differentially expressed genes (DEGs) shared by myasthenia gravis (MG) and COVID-19, namely SAMD9, PLEK, GZMB, JUNB, NR4A1, and NR1D1. The relationship between the six common genes and immune cells was investigated in the COVID-19 dataset. The predictive value of the shared genes was assessed and a nomogram was constructed using machine learning algorithms. The regulatory miRNAs, transcription factors and small molecular drugs were predicted, and the molecular docking was carried out by AutoDock. Discussion We have identified six common DEGs of MG and COVID-19 and explored their immunological effects and regulatory mechanisms. The result may provide new insights for further mechanism research.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To construct an evaluation index system for the capability of comprehensive control of mountain-type zoonotic visceral leishmaniasis based on the One Health concept, so as to provide insights into the control and elimination of mountain-type zoonotic visceral leishmaniasis using the One Health approach. METHODS A preliminary evaluation index system was constructed based on literature review, panel discussions and field surveys. Thirty-three experts were selected from 7 provincial disease control and prevention centers in Beijing Municipality, Hebei Province, Shanxi Province, Henan Province, Sichuan Province, Shaanxi Province and Gansu Province where mountain-type zoonotic visceral leishmaniasis was endemic, and two rounds of expert consultations were conducted to screen the indicators. The positive coefficient, degree of concentration, degree of coordination, and authority of the experts were calculated, and the normalized weights of each index were calculated with the analytic hierarchy process. RESULTS The response rates of questionnaires during two rounds of expert consultation were both 100.00% (33/33), and the authority coefficients of the experts were 0.86 and 0.88, respectively. The coefficients of coordination among experts on the rationality, importance, and operability of the indicators were 0.392, 0.437, 0.258, and 0.364, 0.335, 0.263, respectively (all P values < 0.05). Following screening, the final evaluation index system included 3 primary indicators, 17 secondary indicators, and 50 tertiary indicators. The normalized weights of primary indicators "external environment", "internal support" and "comprehensive control" were 16.98%, 38.73% and 44.29%, respectively. Among the secondary indicators of the primary indicator "external environment", the highest weight was seen for natural environment (66.67%), and among the secondary indicators of the primary indicator "internal support", the lowest weight was seen for the scientific research for visceral leishmaniasis control (8.26%), while other indicators had weights of 12.42% to 13.38%. Among the secondary indicators of the primary indicator "comprehensive control", the weight was 16.67% for each indicator. CONCLUSIONS An evaluation index system has been constructed for the capability of comprehensive control of mountain-type zoonotic visceral leishmaniasis based on the One Health concept. In addition to assessment of the effect of conventional mountain-type zoonotic visceral leishmaniasis control measures, this index system integrates the importance of top-level design, organizational management, and implementation of control measures, and includes indicators related to multi-sectoral cooperation.

Abstract
PURPOSE The study aimed to investigate the independent associations of dietary factors with cognitive impairment (CI) and physical frailty (PF) among Chinese older adults. METHODS This study included 10,734 participants (mean age = 78.7 years) free of CI and PF at baseline from the Chinese Longitudinal Health Longevity Survey. Dietary intake was collected using a simplified food frequency questionnaire every 3-4 years. The Chinese version Mini-Mental State Examination was used to assess cognition function, participants with a score below 18 were defined as CI. PF was defined using the activities of daily living, instrumental activities of daily living, and functional limitation-related questions. The outcome was defined as the first onset of either CI or PF. Competing risk models were used to estimate the corresponding hazard ratios (HRs) and the 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs). RESULTS During the study follow-up (mean = 8.1 years), a total of 1220 CI cases and 1451 PF cases were newly identified. Higher frequency of fruits intake was associated with a lower hazard of CI (HR = 0.75, 95% CI 0.58-0.97), whereas higher intake of preserved vegetables demonstrated an opposite association (HR = 1.23, 95% CI 1.07-1.42). In terms of PF, we observed a lower risk associated with higher meat and poultry intake (HR = 0.72, 95% CI 0.61-0.88). In particular, a significant protective association of fish and aquatic products intake with PF was observed among participants with ≥ 28 natural teeth (HR = 0.52, 95% CI 0.27-0.99). CONCLUSION Our findings suggest divergent roles of major dietary factors in the development of CI and PF among Chinese older adults.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the prevalence and epidemiological characteristics of taeniasis and cysticercosis among residents in Tibetan agricultural areas of Sichuan Province, so as to provide insights for the prevention and control of taeniasis and cysticercosis. METHODS From 2016 to 2022, Kangding City, Daocheng County, Derong County, Ruoergai County and Muli Tibetan Autonomous County were sampled from Tibetan agricultural areas of Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture and Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province, and 1 to 6 townships were sampled from each county (district), followed by 4 to 7 villages sampled from each township. Primary school children were sampled using a cluster sampling method, and permanent residents at ages of over 16 years were randomly sampled from each village. Participants' demographics, history of tapeworm excretion during the past year and clinical symptoms and signs of cysticercosis were collected through questionnaire surveys, and participants' stool and venous blood samples were collected. Taenia eggs were detected in stool samples using the direct smear method, and deworming was performed among taeniasis patients with areca nut-squash seeds. The tapeworm species were identified using a multiplex PCR assay, and serum specific IgG antibody against cysticercus was detected using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). RESULTS A total of 5 249 respondents participated in the questionnaire survey, including 603 respondents (11.5%) with a self-reported history of proglottids secretion during the past year. A total of 3 976 residents were subjected to stool examinations, and the detection of Taenia eggs was 6.5%. Of 258 participants undergoing deworming, there were 403 cases (94.2%) with excretions of Taenia worms or proglottids. The mean prevalence of taeniasis was 10.9% (439/4 043), and there were gender-, age- and region-specific prevalence rates of taeniasis (χ2 = 36.73, 126.31 and 163.41, all P values < 0.05). Multiplex PCR assays detected 41 cases with T. solium infections (12.5%), 197 cases with T. saginata infections (59.9%) and 91 cases with T. asiatica infections (27.6%) among 329 patients undergoing deworming, and there were region-specific prevalence rates of T. solium, T. saginata and T. asiatica infections (χ2 = 45.39, P < 0.05). In addition, the sero-prevalence of anti-cysticercus IgG antibody was 7.0% (345/4 933), and there were age- and region-specific sero-prevalence rates of anti-cysticercus IgG antibody (χ2 = 13.49 and 51.76, both P values < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS Multiple Taenia species are prevalent in Tibetan agricultural areas of Sichuan Province and the sero-prevalence of anti-cysticercus antibody is high among residents. Monitoring and control of taeniasis and cysticercosis should be strengthened.

Abstract
ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE The Huangqi-Jixuecao herb pair (HQJXCHP) is a traditional herbal formula composed of two widely applied TCM prescriptions, Huangqi (Astragalus membranaceus (Fisch.) Bunge) and Jixuecao (Centella asiatica (L.) Urb.), used for hundreds of years to replenish qi and clear away heat. However, the therapeutic effects of HQJXCHP against peritoneal fibrosis (PF) and potential targets are currently unclear. AIMS OF THE STUDY The main objective of this study was preliminary prediction and validation of the effects and molecular mechanisms of action of HQJXCHP against PF based on network pharmacology analysis and experimental verification. MATERIALS AND METHODS The ingredients of HQJXCHP were analyzed via HPLC-Q-TOF/MS. Bioactive compounds of HQJXCHP used for network pharmacology analysis were obtained from the TCMSP database. HQJXCHP-related therapeutic targets in PF were obtained from the GeneCards, OMIM, Therapeutic Targets and PharmGkb databases. Therapeutic target-related signaling pathways were predicted via GO and KEGG pathway enrichment analyses. The targets of HQJXCHO were further validated in a PDS-induced PF mouse model in vivo and PMCs MMT model in vitro. RESULTS A total of 23 bioactive compounds of HQJXCHP related 188 target genes were retrieved. The HQJXCHP compound-target and PF-related target networks identified 131 common target genes. Subsequent protein-protein interaction (PPI) network analysis results disclosed Akt1, TP53, TNF, VEGFA and CASP3 as the top five key targets of HQJXCHP. Further molecular docking data revealed strong affinity of the two key compounds of HQJXCHP, quercetin and kaempferol, for these key targets. GO and KEGG pathway enrichment analyses further showed that PI3K/Akt, IL-17, TNF and TLR pathways contribute to the therapeutic effects of HQJXCHP on PF. An in vivo PDS-induced PF mouse model and in vitro PMCs mesothelial-to-mesenchymal transition (MMT) model with or without HQJXCHP intervention were used to confirm the effects and mechanisms of action of HQJXCHP. Western blot and qRT-PCR results showed that HQ, JXC and HQJXCHP reduced PDS-induced inflammatory cell aggregation and peritoneal thickening through suppressing the MMT process, among which HQJXCHP exerted the greatest therapeutic effect. Moreover, HQJXCHP inhibited activation of the PI3K/Akt, IL-17, TNF and TLR signaling pathways induced by PDS. CONCLUSIONS This is the first study to employ network pharmacology and molecular docking analyses to predict the targets of HQJXCHP with therapeutic effects on PDS-related PF. Data from in vivo and in vitro validation experiments collectively showed that HQJXCHP delays the PF process through inhibiting PI3K/Akt, IL-17, TNF and TLR signaling pathways. Overall, our findings highlight the successful application of network pharmacology theory to provide a scientific basis for clinical utility of HQJXCHP against PF.

Abstract
Objective: To observe the feelings of listening to music and the importance of music in the daily life of post-lingual deaf adults with cochlear implants, and to explore the relevant influencing factors. Methods: This was a cross-sectional survey study. From January 2021 to August 2021,the Music-Related Quality of Life Scale was used to evaluate the music needs and music experiences of 63 post-lingual deaf adults who met the inclusion criteria, including 27 males and 36 females, aged (40.7±12.3) years, at the time of surgery (36.8±13.1) years, and with a preoperative hearing aid ineffective time of (3.9±5.8) years. Indicators analyzed included age, duration of ineffective preoperative hearing aid wear, preoperative music preference, duration of postoperative cochlear implant use, current hearing aid modality, and auditory rehabilitation outcomes. Whether the six factors mentioned above constituted an influence on the subjects' music listening was investigated using SPSS 25.0 statistical software. Results: All of the observations in the scale were correlated with a single factor. The two sub-dimensions of music experience section were related to the effect of auditory rehabilitation. In the importance section, the effect of auditory rehabilitation was the influential factor of the dimension of "participation importance", and the preoperative enjoyment of music was the relevant influential factor of the dimension of "perceived importance". There was a significant difference between the groups when they were grouped by the above factors (P value<0.05), while there was no statistically significance between the groups when they were grouped by other factors (P value>0.05). Conclusions: Post-lingual deaf adults show the need and attempt to listen to music after cochlear implantation. The effectiveness of auditory rehabilitation and the degree of music preference preoperatively are two important factors that influence music listening in implant recipients. Once the level of auditory communication has been restored to a certain degree, it is important to pay more attention to the needs of music for implant recipients and train them in time, especially for those with music preferences preoperatively.

Abstract
This study explored the effect of childhood subjective socioeconomic status on mental health and the chain-mediating mechanism of perceived discrimination and status anxiety. A random survey was conducted via an online survey platform with 999 college students in east China. Participants completed the Childhood Subjective Socioeconomic Status Scale, General Health Questionnaire, Status Anxiety Scale, and the Perceived Personal Discrimination Scale. The sample comprised 323 men and 676 women. The mean age was 20.49±2.70 years. Mediation analysis using Model 6 and 5,000 bootstrap samples was employed to explore the mediating role of perceived discrimination and status anxiety in the relationship between childhood subjective socioeconomic status and mental health. Mental health was significantly positively correlated with childhood socioeconomic status, and significantly negatively correlated with perceived discrimination and status anxiety. Perceived discrimination and status anxiety played a partial chain mediating role between childhood socioeconomic status and mental health. The mediation model accounted for 31% of the variance in mental health. Moreover, the results indicated that the significant mediating effect of perceived discrimination between childhood subjective SES and mental health had a value of 0.029 and a 95% confidence interval of [0.019, 0.041]. Furthermore, the significant mediating effect of status anxiety between childhood subjective SES and mental health had a value of 0.010 and a 95% confidence interval of [0.006, 0.014]. The results provide an explanation of how childhood subjective socioeconomic status influences their mental health. Interventions to address perceived discrimination and status anxiety can improve the mental health status of children who experience childhood adversity. The study's findings contribute to understanding mental health in childhood and inform potential interventions to improve the well-being of individuals who have experienced childhood adversity. The limitations of the study were self-report scales and potential biases in the sample population. Addressing these limitations will enhance the credibility of the research and pave the way for future studies.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aimed to determine the evolution of sacubitril-valsartan research and analyze the publications quantitatively and qualitatively. MATERIALS AND METHODS We used the bibliometric method and a combination of CiteSpace_6.1.6 and VOSviewer_1.6.18 to identify top authors, countries, institutions, co-cited articles, co-cited journals, keywords, and trends. This study prioritized key aspects in the existing global research on Entresto (Sacubitril/Valsartan) to assess our depth of knowledge in this field and identify potential insights. The objective was to generate a reference for the utilization of the "angiotensin receptor-neprilysin inhibitor" (ARNI). RESULTS From 2008 to 2022, citations of sacubitril-valsartan showed an upward trend. VOSviewer keyword analysis of 3,408 publications identified 624 keywords and divided them into seven different clusters. The clustered network was constructed based on 1,191 references cited by 3,408 publications that met the terms, where the clustered network of sacubitril-valsartan was presented. These publications can be regarded as fundamental to Entresto's research. Analysis of co-cited reference clusters showed that other than Entresto's novel application in other diseases, the new combination with other medication or mechanical assistance therapies against heart failure was Entresto's latest focus. Analysis of citation bursts showed that the rank of the top 25 keywords, according to the chronological sequence, marked Entresto's research entering a new era of exploring the extended application in other diseases and novel combinations with other diverse therapies. CONCLUSIONS We found that emerging new mechanisms in sacubitril-valsartan therapy intended for more targets in the pathogenesis of specific diseases will be the focus of further studies.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES In this retrospective observational study, cases from our institution were included and the published literature reviewed to investigate the diagnosis and prognosis of cervical rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare group of tumours. MATERIAL AND METHODS The clinicopathological data of 12 patients with cervical rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) treated at the West China Second University Hospital of Sichuan University from January 2006 to May 2023 were collected, and their clinicopathological characteristics, diagnoses, treatments, prognoses and pregnancy outcomes were retrospectively analysed. RESULTS (1) Clinical characteristics: The ages of the 12 RMS patients ranged from 15 to 50 years, with a median age of 17 years. Five of the patients were adults, and seven were adolescents. The initial symptoms were vaginal bleeding in 5 patients, vaginal tissue prolapse in 6 patients, and abdominal pain and urinary frequency in 1 patient. Two patients were considered to have "cervical polyps" and underwent polypectomy at the other hospitals, but the cervical mass recurred soon thereafter. (2) Pathological features: The maximum tumour diameter ranged from 3 to 25 cm. The twelve cases of cervical RMS consisted of embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma (ERMS) in 7 adolescents, ERMS in 3 adults, and pleomorphic rhabdomyosarcoma (PRMS) in 2 adults. Immunohistochemical results showed the expression of one or more characteristic markers of RMS. We reclassified tumour stage according to the Intergroup Rhabdomyosarcoma Study (IRS) clinical group and tumour node metastasis (TNM) classification. (3) Treatment: Eight patients underwent radical surgery (66.7%, 8/12), including all 5 of the included adults and 3 of the adolescents, 2 of whom were treated 10 years ago. Conservative surgical resection was performed on four patients (33.3%, 4/12), all of whom were adolescents. Postoperative chemotherapy was given to all patients except one, but one patient who underwent radical surgery discontinued chemotherapy on her own without receiving a full course. Two of the ERMS patients underwent preoperative chemotherapy, and the lesions were significantly reduced. (4) Prognosis: One of the 12 patients with cervical RMS was lost to follow-up. Of the remaining 11 patients, 10 (including seven adolescents and three adults) survived tumour free (90.9%, 10/11), and 1 adult patient with existing pulmonary multiple metastases (IRS stage IV, T2N0M1) at the initial diagnosis survived 9 months with progression-free disease (9.1%, 1/11). The median survival time was 91 months (5 to 213 months). Among 4 patients receiving fertility-sparing management, 1 conceived and delivered successfully (25%). CONCLUSIONS The treatment of cervical RMS must take the patient's age and reproductive intent into account. The overall prognosis for cervical RMS in children and adolescents is good, and conservative surgical resection combined with chemotherapy is recommended to preserve fertility. The pregnancy outcome is also worth anticipating. For patients who have completed childbirth, radical surgery is preferred. Approaches to accurately assessing the patient's condition, grasping the indications and scope of surgery, and developing chemoradiotherapy regimens deserve further exploration.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the relationships between preoperative ocular parameters and postoperative anomalous vaults, and research their predictive diagnostic value. Methods: In this retrospective case series study, 664 eyes from 332 patients underwent posterior chamber phakic intraocular lens (pIOL) implantation at Shanghai Bright Eye Hospital and Wuxi Huaxia Eye Hospital from November 2020 to November 2021. Preoperative ocular parameters, including spherical equivalent, intraocular pressure, horizontal/vertical ciliary sulcus diameters (HCS/VCS), white-to-white diameters (WTW), corneal steep/flat curvature, central corneal thickness, anterior chamber depth (ACD), lens thickness (LT), and axial length were collected. The pIOL vaults were measured 3 months after surgery. Patients were categorized into low vault group, optimal vault group, and high vault group based on whether the vault fell within the ideal range (250 to 750 μm). Using the optimal vault group as a benchmark, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were drawn for each ocular parameter of the low and high vault groups to analyze diagnostic efficiency and cut-off values for abnormal vaults after pIOL operation. Each ocular parameter was used as an independent variable to establish a multivariate logistic regression model for two different vault anomalies. ROC curves were drawn and analyzed again based on the regression results. Results: Statistically significant differences were observed in WTW, HCS-WTW, ACD, and LT among the three groups. Comparisons between each pair of groups indicated that WTW in the high vault group significantly differed from the other two groups (P<0.05), HCS-WTW in the low vault group significantly differed from the other groups (P<0.05), and ACD and LT explained statistical differences among the three groups (P<0.05), while other parameters showed no differences. ROC curves illustrated that independent ocular parameters such as LT, HCS-WTW, and ACD had clinical predictive diagnostic significance for low vault abnormalities. The area under the curve (AUC), sensitivity, and specificity for these parameters were 0.829(0.952, 0.561), 0.745(0.857, 0.644), and 0.730(0.619, 0.853), respectively. The diagnostic cut-off values were 3.745, 0.020, and 2.975 mm, respectively. The clinical predictive significance of independent ocular parameters in diagnosing the high vault group was poor (AUC<0.7). The predictive Logistic model equation for low vault was Logistic(V1)=-10.067+5.328·HCS-3.620·WTW+6.263·LT, and the predictive model for high vault was Logistic(V2)=6.232+1.323·WTW-3.358·LT. The new parameters in the predictive equation significantly improved the diagnostic efficiency of low and high vault abnormalities, reaching 0.884(0.810, 0.824) and 0.736(0.810, 0.554), respectively. Conclusions: Preoperative predictive diagnostic parameters for postoperative low vault group included LT, HCS-WTW, and ACD, while the high vault group had no independent predictive diagnostic parameters. Logistic regression improved the predictive diagnostic efficiency of abnormal vaults.

Abstract
The prognostic value of overweight/obesity in heart failure (HF) may vary according to HF etiologies. We aim to determine whether body mass index has differential impacts on survival among hospitalized HF patients with varying etiologies. Consecutive hospitalized HF patients between December 2006 and December 2017 were included. Multivariable analyses, including Cox proportional hazard models and restricted cubic splines, were used to investigate the impact of body mass index on mortality by HF etiology. Among the 3,836 patients included (mean age 57.1 years, 28.4% women), 1,475 (38.5%) were identified as having ischemic etiology. Of the remaining 2,361 patients with non-ischemic etiologies, dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) accounted for 45.6% (n = 1,077). The rest of the patients were uniformly classified as having non-ischemic-non-DCM HF. The unadjusted data demonstrated an adiposity-related survival paradox in HF across all etiologies. However, the paradox holds only among non-ischemic-non-DCM HF patients after multivariate adjustment, wherein overweight patients exhibit the lowest mortality compared with their normal-weight counterparts (adjusted hazard ratio [aHR] 0.69, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.52 to 0.91), with a nadir in mortality risk at 28.18 kg/m2. Similar survival benefits of overweight were not demonstrated in ischemic or DCM HF patients (ischemic etiology: aHR 1.07, 95% CI 0.84 to 1.36; DCM etiology: aHR 0.97, 95% CI 0.74 to 1.28). In conclusion, being overweight or obese does not confer better survival in HF patients of ischemic or DCM etiology, and the prognostic benefit of being overweight is maintained only in non-ischemic-non-DCM HF patients. Pathophysiologic interpretations are warranted, and whether patients of certain etiologies would benefit from weight reduction needs to be explored.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Estimated plasma volume status (ePVS) is a marker of intravascular congestion and has prognostic value in patients with heart failure (HF). The elevation of intracardiac filling pressures is defined as hemodynamic congestion and is also associated with poor prognosis. However, the relationship between intravascular congestion and hemodynamic congestion remains unclear. This study sought to explore the correlation between ePVS and hemodynamic parameters and determine the association between ePVS and clinical outcomes in patients with advanced HF. METHODS Patients with advanced HF underwent right heart catheterization (RHC) for hemodynamic profiles. The sum of right atrial pressure (RAP) and pulmonary arterial wedge pressure (PAWP) > 30 mmHg was considered to present with hemodynamic congestion. Blood tests were conducted within 24 h of RHC. We calculated ePVS using the Strauss-derived Duarte formula. The primary outcome was all-cause mortality. RESULTS A total of 195 patients were divided into two groups based on the cut-off value of ePVS (4.08 dL/g) calculated from receiver operating characteristic analysis. Patients with ePVS > 4.08 dL/g were more likely to present with wet rales (21.2% vs. 9.9%, P = 0.032) and had a higher risk of death (HR 4.748, 95% CI 2.385-9.453), regardless of whether RAP + PAWP was normal or elevated (all P < 0.05). Hemodynamic parameters and ePVS were not correlated (all P > 0.05). High ePVS significantly improved the predictive value beyond the clinical plus hemodynamic prognostic model (area under the curve of 0.844, Delong test, P = 0.024). CONCLUSION ePVS could additionally add prognostic value to hemodynamic parameters in advanced heart failure, although not correlated with hemodynamic parameters.

Abstract
Objective To identify biomarkers with independent prognostic value and investigate the prognostic value of multiple biomarkers in combination in patients hospitalized with heart failure. Methods A total of 884 consecutive patients hospitalized with heart failure from 2015 to 2017 were enrolled. Twelve biomarkers were measured on admission, and the relationships between biomarkers and outcomes were assessed. Results During the median follow-up of 913 days, 291 patients (32.9%) suffered from primary endpoint events. Soluble suppression of tumorigenicity-2 (sST2) (per log [unit] increase, adjusted HR [95% CI]: 1.39 [1.13,1.72], P = 0.002) and big endothelin-1 (big ET-1) (per log [unit] increase, adjusted HR [95% CI]: 1.56 [1.23,1.97], P < 0.001) remained independent predictors of primary endpoint event after adjusting for other predictors including N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) and high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T (hs-cTnT). Both sST2 (C-statistic: 0.810 vs 0.801, P = 0.005, and 0.832 vs 0.826, P = 0.024, respectively) and big ET-1 (C-statistic: 0.829 vs 0.801, P = 0.001, and 0.843 vs 0.826, P < 0.001, respectively) significantly improved the predictive value for primary endpoint event at 1 year and 3 years. However, only big ET-1 (C-statistic: 0.852 vs 0.846, P = 0.014) significantly improved the predictive value at 3 months when added to clinical predictors and known biomarkers. According to the number of elevated biomarkers (including NT-proBNP, hs-cTnT, sST2, and big ET-1), patients with three or more elevated biomarkers had a higher risk of primary endpoint event compared to those with two elevated biomarkers (P = 0.001), as well as in patients with two elevated biomarkers compared to those with one elevated biomarker (P = 0.004). However, the risk of primary endpoint event was comparable between patients with one elevated biomarker and those with no elevated biomarker (P = 0.582). Conclusion Multiple biomarkers in combination could provide a better prognostic value than a single biomarker. sST2 and big ET-1 could act as alternatives of multi-biomarkers strategies for prognosis evaluation beyond NT-proBNP and hs-cTnT in patients hospitalized with heart failure.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the clinical characteristics and treatment of COVID-19 infection in patients with relapsed/refractory B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma before and after receiving chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy, and study the influencing factors of severe COVID-19 infection in these patients. Methods: The data of 59 patients with relapsed/refractory B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma who received chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy at the Department of Hematology, Tongji Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Department of Hematology, the Second Affiliated Hospital, College of Medicine, Zhejiang University between December 2017 and February 2023, and who were infected with novel coronavirus between December 2022 and February 2023 were retrospectively studied. Patients were divided into light, medium, severe, and critical groups, and the differences between the groups were analyzed using the chi-square test. A univariate logistic regression model was used to evaluate the contribution of each variable and its relationship with severe infection. The chi-square and Fisher's exact tests were used to analyze the differences between the B-cell aplasia and B-cell recovery (BCR) groups. Results: Of the 59 pre- and post-infusion infections, 39 (66.1%) led to mild COVID-19, 9 (15.3%) resulted in moderate COVID-19, 10 (16.9%) resulted in severe COVID-19, and 1 (1.7%) led to critical COVID-19. Moroever, age greater than 55 years, having received autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, progressive disease status, and B-cell aplasia at the time of diagnosis of COVID-19 infection are factors affecting severe infection. Patients with B-cell aplasia had a more severe infection with COVID-19 (P<0.001), a longer duration (P=0.015), a longer antiviral therapy course (P<0.001), and a higher hospitalization rate (P<0.001) than the BCR group. Conclusion: Active prevention and treatment of COVID-19 infection remains a crucial issue requiring urgent attention in managing patients with relapsed/refractory B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma treated with chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy.

Abstract
With the development of nanometer accuracy stitching interferometry, ion beam figuring (IBF) of x-ray mirrors can now be achieved with unprecedented performance. However, the process of producing x-ray diffraction gratings on these surfaces may degrade the figure quality due to process errors introduced during the ruling of the grating grooves. To address this challenge, we have investigated the post-production correction of gratings using IBF, where stitching interferometry is used to provide in-process feedback. A concern with ion beam correction in this case is that ions will induce enough surface mobility of atoms to cause smoothing of the grating structure and degradation of diffraction efficiency. In this study we found however that it is possible to achieve a nanometer-level planarity of the global grating surface with IBF, while preserving the grating structure. The preservation was so good, that we could not detect a change in the diffraction efficiency after ion beam correction. This is of major importance in achieving ultra-high spectral resolution, and the preservation of brightness for coherent x-ray beams.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Xerostomia, caused by radiation-induced parotid damage, is the most commonly reported complications of radiotherapy (RT) to nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). This study aimed to evaluate the value of IVIM MR in monitoring radiation parotid gland damage and predicting the risk of xerostomia. MATERIALS/METHODS A total of 54 patients were enrolled and underwent IVIM MR scans at before RT, after the fifth fraction, halfway through the course of RT, and at the end of radiotherapy. The parameters of IVIM MR include pseudo-diffusion coefficient (D*), perfusion fraction (f), and pure diffusion coefficient (D). The degree of xerostomia in NPC patients was assessed before each MR examination using the acute radiation morbidity scoring criteria proposed by the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG). Concurrently, the time when the patient first reported suffering from xerostomia was recorded. The IVIM parameters trend throughout the RT, and the relationships between IVIM parameters and xerostomia, were analyzed. RESULTS All of the IVIM parameters increased from pre-RT to post-RT significantly (all p < 0.001). The increase rate of D from pre-RT to halfway through the RT was 32.61%, which was significantly higher than 15.64% from halfway to post-RT (p<0.001), indicating that cell necrosis in the first half of treatment is significantly higher than that in the second half. Both D* and F had significantly increased from pre-RT to halfway through the radiotherapy (p<0.001), with an increase rate of 19.58% and 29.38%, respectively. However, no significant increase was observed from Halfway to post-RT (p>0.05), with an increase rate of 4.10% and 8.30%, respectively. This may be due to radiation-induced vasculitic dilation that is significant in the first half of the radiotherapy but plateaus in the second half. Pre-D (OR = 23.85; 95% CI = 2.39, 237.82; p = .007) and pre-D* (OR = 0.75; 95% CI = 0.63, 0.91; p = 0.003) are independent influencing factors for xerostomia at 3 months after the completion of RT. D and F were significantly higher after the fifth fraction compared with Pre-RT (both p<0.05), respectively increased 31.25% and 25.16%. D* increase by 15% (p = 0.081). IVIM scans can assess parotid gland damage early. And the average time of parotid damage underwent IVIM scan was 5.99 ± 0.84 (day), much earlier than 11.84 ± 2.74 (day) according to RTOG. CONCLUSION Our study indicates that IVIM MR can dynamically monitor radiotherapy-induced parotid gland damage, and much earlier and objectively than RTOG.

Abstract
We propose a two-stage equalization based on a simplified Kalman filter, which is used to solve the rapid rotation of the state of polarization (RSOP) that is caused by lightning strikes on optical cables and the extra inter symbol interference (ISI) introduced in the system. By analyzing the special expression of matrix coefficient in the Kalman filter under polarization demultiplexing, the simplified idea of a Kalman filter is provided, and its updating process is transformed into a kind of multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) structure algorithm. At the same time, the second stage finite impulse response filter is used to solve the ISI that is difficult to be solved by a Kalman filter. The performance of the proposed algorithm was tested in a coherent system of 28Gbaud PDM-QPSK/16QAM. The results confirm that on the basis of lower complexity than a Kalman filter, the proposed algorithm reduces its complexity by more than 30% compared to traditional MIMO equalization algorithm under the premise of linear operation, and which also can handle RSOP of 20 Mrad/s. When the system suffers from the extra ISI due to the limited device bandwidth, the optical signal to noise ratio of the proposed algorithm is about 4 dB lower than the Kalman filter at the same bit error rate.

Abstract
Objective: To compare the differences in the prevalence of mild micro-hepatic encephalopathy (MHE) among patients with cirrhosis by using the psychometric hepatic encephalopathy score (PHES) and the Stroop smartphone application (Encephal App) test. Methods: This prospective, multi-center, real-world study was initiated by the National Clinical Medical Research Center for Infectious Diseases and the Portal Hypertension Alliance and registered with International ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT05140837). 354 cases of cirrhosis were enrolled in 19 hospitals across the country. PHES (including digital connection tests A and B, digital symbol tests, trajectory drawing tests, and serial management tests) and the Stroop test were conducted in all of them. PHES was differentiated using standard diagnostic criteria established by the two studies in China and South Korea. The Stroop test was evaluated based on the criteria of the research and development team. The impact of different diagnostic standards or methods on the incidence of MHE in patients with cirrhosis was analyzed. Data between groups were differentiated using the t-test, Mann-Whitney U test, and χ (2) test. A kappa test was used to compare the consistency between groups. Results: After PHES, the prevalence of MHE among 354 cases of cirrhosis was 78.53% and 15.25%, respectively, based on Chinese research standards and Korean research normal value standards. However, the prevalence of MHE was 56.78% based on the Stroop test, and the differences in pairwise comparisons among the three groups were statistically significant (kappa = -0.064, P < 0.001). Stratified analysis revealed that the MHE prevalence in three groups of patients with Child-Pugh classes A, B, and C was 74.14%, 83.33%, and 88.24%, respectively, according to the normal value standards of Chinese researchers, while the MHE prevalence rates in three groups of patients with Child-Pugh classes A, B, and C were 8.29%, 23.53%, and 38.24%, respectively, according to the normal value standards of Korean researchers. Furthermore, the prevalence rates of MHE in the three groups of patients with Child-Pugh grades A, B, and C were 52.68%, 58.82%, and 73.53%, respectively, according to the Stroop test standard. However, among the results of each diagnostic standard, the prevalence of MHE showed an increasing trend with an increasing Child-Pugh grade. Further comparison demonstrated that the scores obtained by the number connection test A and the number symbol test were consistent according to the normal value standards of the two studies in China and South Korea (Z = -0.982, -1.702; P = 0.326, 0.089), while the other three sub-tests had significant differences (P < 0.001). Conclusion: The prevalence rate of MHE in the cirrhotic population is high, but the prevalence of MHE obtained by using different diagnostic criteria or methods varies greatly. Therefore, in line with the current changes in demographics and disease spectrum, it is necessary to enroll a larger sample size of a healthy population as a control. Moreover, the establishment of more reliable diagnostic scoring criteria will serve as a basis for obtaining accurate MHE incidence and formulating diagnosis and treatment strategies in cirrhotic populations.

Abstract
Summer green tea (SGT) has a low cost and high annual yield, but its utilization rate is limited due to suboptimal quality. The aim of this study is to enhance the flavor of SGT using fermentation with A. niger RAF106 while examining changes in its metabolites during this process. The results revealed an elevation in the content of alcohol, alkanes, and nitroxides in tea leaves following the process of fermentation. The predominant volatile compounds identified in tea leaves after undergoing a 6-day fermentation period were linalool, (Z)-α, α, 5-trimethyl-5-vinyltetrahydrofuran-2-methanol, (E)-linalool oxide (furan type), linalool oxide (pyran type), and theapyrrole. These compounds exhibited significant increases of 31.48%, 230.43%, 225.12%, 70.71%, and 521.62%, respectively, compared to the non-fermented control group (CK). The content of non-ester catechins, soluble sugars, and total flavonoids reached their peak on the 4th day of fermentation, exhibiting significant increases of 114.8%, 95.59%, and 54.70%, respectively. The content of gallic acid and free amino acids reached their peak on the 6th day of fermentation, exhibiting significant increases of 3775% and 18.18%, respectively. However, the content of ester catechin decreased by 81.23%, while caffeine decreased by 7.46%. The content of lactic acid, acetic acid, and citric acid in tea after fermentation was 421.03%, 203.13%, and 544.39% higher than before fermentation, respectively. The present study offers a fresh approach for the advancement of SGT.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma (ERMS) of the uterine cervix is rare, but the population affected is mostly underage females. The scope of surgery has now evolved from extensive to limited, and organ-preserving surgery combined with chemotherapy is recommended to preserve the patient's fertility. However, reports of birth outcomes are rare. CASE A minor woman with cervical ERMS who underwent only an outpatient biopsy of the lesion had no residual lesion on subsequent multipoint cervical biopsy and refused radical surgery or cervical conization, after which the patient received a nonclassical regimen of chemotherapy. The patient stopped the chemotherapy on her own, but the patient conceived spontaneously 16 years later with a good pregnancy outcome and no recurrence. CONCLUSIONS This case suggests that preservation of reproductive function is often feasible in immature women with cervical ERMS, and the prognosis is usually good as long as the primary tumour can be surgically removed and the lesion is free of residual disease. We also look forward to reports of subsequent growth and pregnancy outcomes in other children with reproductive tract RMS. In cervical ERMS, accurate evaluation of the disease and development of an individualized treatment plan are crucial, and the protection of reproductive function and psychological well-being deserves special attention.

Abstract
Right ventricular (RV)-pulmonary arterial uncoupling is the consequence of increased afterload and/or decreased RV contractility. However, the combination of arterial elastance (Ea) and end-systolic elastance (Ees)/Ea ratio to assess RV function is unclear. We hypothesized that the combination of both could comprehensively assess RV function and refine risk stratification. The median Ees/Ea ratio (0.80) and Ea (0.59 mmHg/mL) were used to classify 124 patients with advanced heart failure into four groups. RV systolic pressure differential was defined as end-systolic pressure (ESP) minus beginning-systolic pressure (BSP). Patients among different subsets showed dissimilar New York Heart Association functional class (V = 0.303, p = 0.010), distinct tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion/ pulmonary artery systolic pressure (mm/mmHg; 0.65 vs. 0.44 vs. 0.32 vs. 0.26, p < 0.001), and diverse prevalence of pulmonary hypertension (33.3% vs. 35% vs. 90% vs. 97.6%, p < 0.001). By multivariate analysis, Ees/Ea ratio (hazard ratio [HR] 0.225, p = 0.004) and Ea (HR 2.194, p = 0.003) were independently associated with event-free survival. Patients with Ees/Ea ratio greater than or equal to 0.80 and Ea less than 0.59 mmHg/mL had better outcomes (p < 0.05). In patients with Ees/Ea ratio greater than or equal to 0.80, those with Ea greater than or equal to 0.59 mmHg/mL had a higher adverse outcome risk (p < 0.05). Ees/Ea ratio less than or equal to 0.80 was associated with adverse outcomes, even when Ea was less than 0.59 mmHg/mL (p < 0.05). Approximately 86% of patients with ESP-BSP greater than 5 mmHg had an Ees/Ea ratio less than or equal to 0.80 and/or an Ea greater than or equal to 0.59 mmHg/mL (V = 0.336, p = 0.001). Combined use of Ees/Ea ratio and Ea could be a comprehensive approach to assessing RV function and predicting outcomes. An exploratory analysis demonstrated that Ees/Ea ratio and Ea might be roughly estimated based on RV systolic pressure differential.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The objective of this study was to investigate the role of echocardiographic parameters in diagnosing bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) in preterm infants. PATIENTS AND METHODS Ninety preterm infants with a gestational age of less than 32 weeks and a weight less than 1.5 kg, admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit of the hospital between January 2020 and January 2021, were selected for the study. The study subjects were divided into two groups: a BPD group (54 cases, observation group) and a non-BPD group (36 cases, control group). The correlation between tricuspid regurgitation (TR) velocity and BPD was investigated by detecting the cardiac function of preterm infants in both groups using a color Doppler ultrasound diagnostic instrument and analyzing the cardiac ultrasound results. The early prediction efficiency of TR velocity (m/s) for BPD was evaluated using the receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curve. RESULTS The incidence of patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) and pulmonary hypertension (PH) in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group. The levels of left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and left ventricular shorting fraction (LVFS) were significantly lower than those in the control group (p < 0.05). The incidence of patent foramen ovale (PFO), atrial septal defect (ASD), and ventricular septal defect (VSD) in the observation group were not significantly different from the control group (p > 0.05). The proportion of tricuspid regurgitation in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group, and the TR velocity was significantly higher than that in the control group. The Spearman correlation analysis showed that TR velocity (m/s) was positively correlated to BPD severity (r = 0.379, p < 0.05). The area under the curve (AUC) for predicting BPD with TR velocity was 0.735. The sensitivity and specificity were 88.0% and 62.6%, respectively, when the TR velocity was 1.45 m/s. CONCLUSIONS Echocardiography is useful for understanding the degree of impaired cardiac function in preterm infants and for early detection of PH, which may reduce the mortality rate to a certain extent. The risk of BPD is significantly increased when TR velocity is higher than 1.45 m/s.

Abstract
Aim DNA damage involves in the carcinogenesis of some cancer and may act as a target for therapeutic intervention of cancers. However, it is unclear whether aflatoxin B1 (AFB1)-DNA adducts (ADAs), an important kind of DNA damage caused by AFB1, affect the efficiency of post-operative adjuvant transarterial chemoembolization (po-TACE) treatment improving hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) survival. Methods A hospital-based retrospective study, including 318 patients with Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC)-C stage HCC from high AFB1 exposure areas, to investigate the potential effects of ADAs in the tissues with HCC on po-TACE treatment. The amount of ADAs in the cancerous tissues was tested by competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (c-ELISA). Results Among these patients with HCC, the average amount of ADAs was 3.00 µmol/mol ± 1.51 µmol/mol DNA in their tissues with cancer. For these patients, increasing amount of ADAs was significantly associated with poorer overall survival (OS) and tumor reoccurrence-free survival (RFS), with corresponding death risk (DR) of 3.69 (2.78-4.91) and tumor recurrence risk (TRR) of 2.95 (2.24-3.88). The po-TACE therapy can efficiently improve their prognosis [DR = 0.59 (0.46-0.76), TRR = 0.63 (0.49-0.82)]. Interestingly, this improving role was more noticeable among these patients with high ADAs [DR = 0.36 (0.24-0.53), TRR = 0.40 (0.28-0.59)], but not among those with low ADAs (P > 0.05). Conclusions These results suggest that increasing ADAs in the cancerous tissues may be beneficial for po-TACE in ameliorating the survival of patients with HCC.

Abstract
Cardiac power output (CPO) is a powerful predictor of adverse outcomes in heart failure (HF). However, the original formula of CPO included the difference between mean arterial pressure and right atrial pressure (RAP). The prognostic performance of RAP-corrected CPO (CPORAP) remains unknown in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). We studied 101 HF patients with a left ventricular ejection fraction > 40% who had pulmonary hypertension due to left heart disease. CPORAP was significantly more discriminating than CPO in predicting outcomes (Delong test, P = 0.004). Twenty-five (24.8%) patients presented with dis-concordantly high CPORAP and low CPO when stratified by the identified CPORAP threshold of 0.547 W and the accepted CPO threshold of 0.803 W. These patients had the lowest RAP, and their cumulative incidence was comparable with those with concordantly high CPO and CPORAP (P = 0.313). CPORAP might identify patients with right ventricular involvement, thereby providing better prognostic performance than CPO in HFpEF.

Abstract
Objectives Inflammation is involved in the mechanisms of non-ischemic heart failure (NIHF). We aimed to investigate the prognostic value of 21 inflammatory biomarkers and construct a biomarker risk score to improve risk prediction for patients with NIHF. Methods Patients diagnosed with NIHF without infection during hospitalization were included. The primary outcome was defined as all-cause mortality and heart transplantations. We used elastic net Cox regression with cross-validation to select inflammatory biomarkers and construct the best biomarker risk score model. Discrimination, calibration, and reclassification were evaluated to assess the predictive value of the biomarker risk score. Results Of 1,250 patients included (median age, 53 years, 31.9% women), 436 patients (34.9%) experienced the primary outcome during a median of 2.8 years of follow-up. The final biomarker risk score included high-sensitivity C-reactive protein-to-albumin ratio (CAR) and red blood cell distribution width-standard deviation (RDW-SD), both of which were 100% selected in 1,000 times cross-validation folds. Incorporating the biomarker risk score into the best basic model improved the discrimination (ΔC-index = 0.012, 95% CI 0.003-0.018) and reclassification (IDI, 2.3%, 95% CI 0.7%-4.9%; NRI, 17.3% 95% CI 6.4%-32.3%) in risk identification. In the cross-validation sets, the mean time-dependent AUC ranged from 0.670 to 0.724 for the biomarker risk score and 0.705 to 0.804 for the basic model with a biomarker risk score, from 1 to 8 years. In multivariable Cox regression, the biomarker risk score was independently associated with the outcome in patients with NIHF (HR 1.76, 95% CI 1.49-2.08, p < 0.001, per 1 score increase). Conclusions An inflammatory biomarker-derived risk score significantly improved prognosis prediction and risk stratification, providing potential individualized therapeutic targets for NIHF patients.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the effect of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) exposure in the atmosphere on the risk of daily death from stroke in Guangzhou. Methods: Daily average concentrations of twelve atmospheric VOCs, meteorological factors, and daily deaths for stroke and its subtypes (including ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke) in Guangzhou from 2020 to 2021 were collected. The time-series Poisson generalized additive model was established to analyze the relationship between daily average concentrations of atmospheric VOCs and daily mortality from a stroke on different lag days. The season, gender, and age group further performed stratification analysis. Results: Toluene and n-pentane were associated with a higher mortality risk from stroke and its subtypes. For each interquartile range (IQR) increment in toluene concentration at lag0- 1 days, the RRs for mortality from stroke and hemorrhagic stroke were 1.060 (95%CI: 1.036-1.085) and 1.071 (95%CI: 1.030-1.113), respectively. For each IQR increment in n-pentane concentration, the RR for mortality from ischemic stroke was 1.064 (95%CI: 1.030-1.099). The effect estimates of VOCs may be higher during the cold season and among women and people aged ≥75 years. For each IQR increment in toluene concentration, the RRs for mortality risk of stroke in the cold season and women were 1.099 (95%CI: 1.056-1.143) and 1.085 (95%CI: 1.050-1.120), respectively. For n-pentane, the RR for death risk of stroke in people aged ≥75 years old was 1.072 (95%CI: 1.036-1.109). Results of sensitivity analysis showed that the effect estimates fluctuated less when PM2.5 and O3 were separately introduced for the two-pollutant model, as well as changing the degrees of freedom for covariates. Conclusions: This study suggests that VOCs may be an independent risk factor for daily mortality from stroke. Moreover, Toluene presented the most significant health impact.

Abstract
Transanal total mesorectal resection (taTME) has come a long way since it was first used in the clinic in 2010.The learning curve of this procedure is long due to different surgical approaches, different perspectives and different anatomical positions. Many surgeons experience complications during this procedure. Although the advantages and problems of this procedure have been reported in much literature, the anatomy and operation methods of taTME introduced in literatures and training centers are too complicated, which makes many surgeons encounter difficulties in carrying out taTME surgery. According to the author's experience in learning and carrying out this operation, spatial expansion process of ultralow rectal cancer was divided into three stages. At each stage, according to different pulling forces, three different schemes of triangular stability mechanics model were adopted for separation. From point to line, from line to plane, the model can protect the safety of peripheral blood vessels and nerves while ensuring total mesorectal excision . This model simplifies the complex surgical process and is convenient for beginners to master taTME surgical separation skills.

Abstract
We studied the role of B cell-activating factor (BAFF) in PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway in promoting proliferation and maintaining survival of regulatory B lymphocytes (Breg) in newborns with sepsis. The peripheral blood samples were collected from preterm neonates (n=40) diagnosed with sepsis on the day of diagnosis and on days 7, 14, and 21 after diagnosis, as well as from the matched preterm neonates without sepsis (n=40; control group). The peripheral blood mononuclear cells and B cells were isolated, cultured, and stimulated with LPS and immunostimulant CpG-oligodeoxynucleotide (CpG-ODN). Proliferation and differentiation of B-cells into CD19+CD24hiCD38hi Breg cells and the role of the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway in these processes were studied by flow cytometry, real-time quantitative reverse transcription PCR (qRT-PCR), and Western blotting. BAFF levels in the peripheral blood of neonates with sepsis were significantly increased at one week after diagnosis in parallel with increasing trend of expression of BAFF receptor. When applied with LPS and CpG-ODN, BAFF promoted differentiation of B cells into CD19+CD24hiCD38hi Breg cells. Phosphorylation of 4E-BP1 factor and 70S6K kinase located downstream in PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway was significantly up-regulated when stimulated with BAFF in combination with LPS and CpG-ODN. Thus, increased level of BAFF activates PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway and induces in vitro differentiation of peripheral blood B cells into CD19+CD24hiCD38hi Breg cells.

Abstract
Background Machine-learning-based prediction models (MLBPMs) have shown satisfactory performance in predicting clinical outcomes in patients with heart failure with reduced and preserved ejection fraction. However, their usefulness has yet to be fully elucidated in patients with heart failure with mildly reduced ejection fraction. This pilot study aims to evaluate the prediction performance of MLBPMs in a heart failure with mildly reduced ejection fraction cohort with long-term follow-up data. Methods and Results A total of 424 patients with heart failure with mildly reduced ejection fraction were enrolled in our study. The primary outcome was all-cause mortality. Two feature selection strategies were introduced for MLBPM development. The "All-in" (67 features) strategy was based on feature correlation, multicollinearity, and clinical significance. The other strategy was the CoxBoost algorithm with 10-fold cross-validation (17 features), which was based on the selection result of the "All-in" strategy. Six MLBPMs with 5-fold cross-validation based on the "All-in" and the CoxBoost algorithm with 10-fold cross-validation strategy were developed by the eXtreme Gradient Boosting, random forest, and support vector machine algorithms. The logistic regression model with 14 benchmark predictors was used as a reference model. During a median follow-up of 1008 (750, 1937) days, 121 patients met the primary outcome. Overall, MLBPMs outperformed the logistic model. The "All-in" eXtreme Gradient Boosting model had the best performance, with an accuracy of 85.4% and a precision of 70.3%. The area under the receiver-operating characteristic curve was 0.916 (95% CI, 0.887-0.945). The Brier score was 0.12. Conclusions The MLBPMs could significantly improve outcome prediction in patients with heart failure with mildly reduced ejection fraction, which would further optimize the management of these patients.

Abstract
ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE Traditional Chinese medicine, Centella asiatica (L.) Urb., has been extensively utilized in clinics to treat a variety of fibrotic disorders. Asiaticoside (ASI), as an important active ingredient, has attracted much attention in this field. However, the effect of ASI on peritoneal fibrosis (PF) is still unclear. Therefore, we evaluated the benefits of ASI for PF and mesothelial-mesenchymal transition (MMT) and revealed the underlying mechanisms. AIM OF STUDY The objective of this investigation was to anticipate the potential molecular mechanism of ASI against peritoneal mesothelial cells (PMCs) MMT employing proteomics and network pharmacology, and to confirm it using in vivo and in vitro studies. MATERIALS AND METHODS The mesentery of peritoneal fibrosis mice and normal mice were analyzed quantitatively for proteins that were differentially expressed using a technique tandem mass tag (TMT). Next, the core target genes of ASI against PF were screened through network pharmacology analysis, and PPI and C-P‒T networks were constructed by Cytoscape Version 3.7.2. According to the findings of a GO and KEGG enrichment analysis of differential proteins and core target genes, the signaling pathway with a high correlation degree was selected as the key signaling pathway of ASI inhibiting the PMCs MMT for further molecular docking analysis and experimental verification. RESULTS TMT-based quantitative proteome analysis revealed the identification of 5727 proteins, of which 70 were downregulated and 178 were upregulated. Among them, the levels of STAT1, STAT2, and STAT3 in the mesentery of mice with peritoneal fibrosis were considerably lower than in the control group, indicating a role for the STAT family in the pathogenesis of peritoneal fibrosis. Then, a total of 98 ASI-PF-related targets were identified by network pharmacology analysis. JAK2 is one of the top 10 core target genes representing a potential therapeutic target. JAK/STAT signaling may represent a core pathway mediating PF effects by ASI. Molecular docking studies showed that ASI had the potential to interact favorably with target genes involved in the JAK/STAT signaling pathway, such as JAK2 and STAT3. The experimental results showed that ASI could significantly alleviate Chlorhexidine Gluconate (CG)-induced peritoneal histopathological changes and increase JAK2 and STAT3 phosphorylation levels. In TGF-β1-stimulated HMrSV5 cells, E-cadherin expression levels were dramatically reduced whereas Vimentin, p-JAK2, α-SMA, and p-STAT3 expression levels were considerably increased. ASI inhibited the TGF-β1-induced HMrSV5 cell MMT, decreased the activation of JAK2/STAT3 signaling, and increased the nuclear translocation of p-STAT3, which was consistent with the effect of the JAK2/STAT3 pathway inhibitor AG490. CONCLUSION ASI can inhibit PMCs MMT and alleviate PF by regulating the JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway.

Abstract
Background Afterload-related cardiac performance (ACP), a diagnostic parameter for septic cardiomyopathy, integrates both cardiac performance and vascular effects and could predict prognosis in septic shock. Objectives We hypothesized that ACP would also correlate with clinical outcomes in patients with chronic heart failure (HF). Design A retrospective study. Methods We retrospectively studied consecutive patients with chronic HF who underwent right heart catheterization and established an expected cardiac output-systemic vascular resistance (CO-SVR) curve model in chronic HF for the first time. ACP was calculated as COmeasured/COpredicted × 100%. ACP > 80%, 60% < ACP ⩽ 80%, and ACP ⩽ 60% represented less impaired, mildly impaired, and severely impaired cardiovascular function, respectively. The primary outcome was all-cause mortality, and the secondary outcome was event-free survival. Results A total of 965 individual measurements from 290 eligible patients were used to establish the expected CO-SVR curve model (COpredicted = 53.468 × SVR -0.799). Patients with ACP ⩽ 60% had higher serum NT-proBNP levels (P < 0.001), lower left ventricular ejection fraction (P = 0.001), and required dopamine more frequently (P < 0.001). Complete follow-up data were available in 263 of 290 patients (90.7%). After multivariate adjustment, ACP remained associated with both primary outcome (hazard ratio (HR) 0.956, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.927-0.987) and secondary outcome (HR 0.977, 95% CI 0.963-0.992). Patients with ACP ⩽ 60% had the worst prognosis (all P < 0.001). ACP was significantly more discriminating (area under the curve of 0.770) than other conventional hemodynamic parameters in predicting mortality (Delong test, all P < 0.05). Conclusion ACP is a powerful independent hemodynamic predictor of mortality in patients with chronic HF. ACP and the novel CO-SVR two-dimensional graph could be useful in assessing cardiovascular function and making clinical decisions. Clinical trial registration URL: https://www.clinicaltrials.gov. Abstract
Importance Dementia threatens the well-being of older adults, making efforts toward prevention of great importance. Objective To evaluate the association of the Mediterranean-Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay (MIND) diet with the risk of dementia in 3 prospective studies and a meta-analysis. Design, Setting, and Participants Cohort analyses included the Whitehall II study (WII), the Health and Retirement Study (HRS), and the Framingham Heart Study Offspring cohort (FOS), and the meta-analysis included 11 cohort studies. Participants were middle-aged and older women and men from WII in 2002 to 2004, HRS in 2013, and FOS in 1998 to 2001 without dementia at the study baseline. Data were analyzed from May 25 to September 1, 2022. Exposures MIND diet score was measured using food frequency questionnaires, and scores ranged from 0 to 15, with a higher score indicating higher adherence to the MIND diet. Main Outcome and Measures Incident all-cause dementia, with cohort-specific definitions. Results Included in this study were 8358 participants (mean [SD] age, 62.2 [6.0] years; 5777 male [69.1%]) from WII, 6758 participants (mean [SD] age, 66.5 [10.4] years; 3965 female [58.7%]) from HRS, and 3020 participants (mean [SD] age, 64.2 [9.1] years; 1648 female [54.6%]) from FOS. The mean (SD) baseline MIND diet score was 8.3 (1.4) in WII, 7.1 (1.9) in HRS, and 8.1 (1.6) in FOS. Over 166 516 person-years, a total of 775 participants (220 in WII, 338 in HRS, and 217 in FOS) developed incident dementia. In the multivariable-adjusted Cox proportional hazard model, higher MIND diet score was associated with lower risk of dementia (pooled hazard ratio [HR] for every 3-point increment, 0.83; 95% CI, 0.72-0.95; P for trend = .01; I2 = 0%). The associations were consistently observed in subgroups defined by sex, age, smoking status, and body mass index. In the meta-analysis of 11 cohort studies with 224 049 participants (5279 incident dementia cases), the highest tertile of MIND diet score was associated with lower risk of dementia compared with the lowest tertile (pooled HR, 0.83; 95% CI, 0.76-0.90; I2 = 35%). Conclusions and Relevance Results suggest that adherence to the MIND diet was associated with lower risk of incident dementia in middle-aged and older adults. Further studies are warranted to develop and refine the specific MIND diet for different populations.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Thyroid dysfunction might have a negative impact on the prognosis of patients with heart failure (HF) and affect the lipid metabolism. The aim of our study was to investigate the prognostic role of thyroid dysfunction and its relationship with lipid profile in hospitalized HF patients. HYPOTHESIS Thyroid dysfunction strongly correlates with prognosis of HF patients and combination with lipid profile improves the prognostic value. METHODS We performed a single-center retrospective cohort study including hospitalized HF patients between March 2009 and June 2018. RESULTS Among enrolled 3733 patients, low fT3 (hazard ratio [HR] 1.33; 95% CI: 1.15-1.54; p < .001), elevated TSH (HR 1.37; 95% CI 1.15-1.64; p < .001), LT3S (HR 1.39; 95% CI: 1.15-1.68; p < .001), overt hyperthyroidism (HR 1.73; 95%CI: 1.00-2.98; p = .048), subclinical hypothyroidism (HR 1.43; 95%CI: 1.13-1.82; p = .003) and overt hypothyroidism (HR 1.76; 95%CI: 1.33-2.34; p < .001) independently increased the risk of composite endpoint defined as the combination of all-cause mortality, heart transplantation, or left ventricular assist device requirement. Higher total cholesterol (HR 0.64; 95%CI: 0.49-0.83; p < .001) was still a protective factor in HF patients. When divided into four groups by fT3 and median lipid profiles, comparison of Kaplan-Meier survival curves for various groups showed good risk stratification (p < .001). CONCLUSION LT3S, overt hyperthyroidism, subclinical and overt hypothyroidism were independently associated with poor outcomes in HF. The combination of fT3 and lipid profile improved the prognostic value.
